Food Does Not Control Me

Food does not control me, or something like that. That is what I am trying to tell myself these days. I was doing so good with the whole grain free, dairy free, no processed shit kick that I was on. And when I let off a little so I could enjoy our beach trip, then my birthday, and well you know….life…I slowly started retreating back to old habits.

A bag of M&M’s somehow got in to my cart the past two weeks. Surely I wasn’t the one who put them in there, right?? A handful here and there, they don’t count. It’s not an entire serving. A frappucino because it is Tuesday and I hate Tuesdays? Why not!

Yeah, that’s what I am talking about. Those little choices that I used to not even be tempted by during the week are back and I am putting an end to them right now. Or well, after I finish the rest of these M&M’s I have.

Last week I confessed that I was able to purchase a pair of jeans in a smaller size. That was a great feeling. I rode that high for a week. Then yesterday I grabbed a pair of jeans by accident out of a stack of clothes that used to fit not because I was in a hurry. I literately threw them on and ran out the door. All day yesterday I was miserable, they were tight and uncomfortable at the waist. And the thing is, the legs and butt fit. Damn you eating!!! I thought to myself, yeah Nadine…eat some more of those M&M’s. A fat lot of good they are doing you.

The holiday season is quickly approaching. It is time to get back on track before it gets too out of hand! I want to be able to enjoy a slice of apple pie or a cup of hot chocolate during my favorite time of year. I cant enjoy those things if none of my clothes fit!

This 4 Step Weight Loss Challenge makes so much sense! 1st Step--Drink more water! Check out the rest, so simple :-) #weightloss #challenge:

I am going to clean up my eating again. This past weekend I didn’t have an ounce of alcohol. That is the first thing I cut because drinking empty calories is the worst. We already have our meals planned out for this week, which aren’t terrible by any means…but two nights are not grain free. So that means starting next week I am going back to grain free during the week. I had so much success with that and I felt awesome when I was doing it. Why would I not want to feel awesome?

I also plan on cutting back down to just two cheat meals on the weekends. No mindless snacking on tortilla chips and salsa. No Whataburger at 10pm just because stops. Nada.

As far as work outs go, I have been getting up and working out every day. But besides the days that I run, I am not really pushing myself. I need to be giving my all and then some. every. single. workout. What’s the point of waking up at 4:30am if I am not giving my all? Back to structured weight training instead of free styling it like I have been doing.

So who is with me? Who is taking back control before the holidays?

For those of you who need some encouraging words…

Ok, this is one of those quotes that actually might get me to the gym.:

Zero excuses.:

Sometimes I don't need the gentle reminder. What I need is swift kick in the ass.

Weekend Shenanigans – The Time We Went To Space

This morning it is all dark and rainy and it would be the perfect day to stay in and Netflix. You know, same as yesterday! But reality settles in and you realize you have to adult. So instead of reflecting on that depressing thought, let’s just talk about my weekend shenanigans, shall we?

This weekend was the annual Halloween party that our friends host. Chris keeps these people going with his beats. So Friday evening we headed to the house to set up all his DJ equipment and speakers and such. Then we headed to Whataburger because why not and promptly called it a night.

Saturday we watched the Auburn and Alabama games, Roll Tide!!! Then got ready for the party! The party had a space theme this year, so I decided to be a Galaxy Princess.

Galaxy Princess

The girls that host the party always go all out. And that doesn’t even describe how amazing this house gets transformed in to really. We literally entered another galaxy upon walking in the door.

Once the drinks started flowing, Chris kept the dance floor going all evening. If you follow me on Snapchat, you got a sneak peak at some of these pictures and lots of action video 🙂

Halloween 2015

Halloween

Sunday was a day for meal planning, grocery shopping, netflixing and I finished reading The Truth About Him.

Can you even believe that this is the last week of October??? I mean….a month from today is Thanksgiving. THANKSGIVING!!! Insanity. On the bright side, I will be able to blast my Christmas tunes starting Sunday.

I hope you all have a wonderful week! Linking up with Biana.

Time for another edition of Friday Favorites!

Favorite Song: Jubel by Klingande. You guys….this song!!!! The saxophone in it is freaking amazing and the whole reason I am obsessed and can play it over and over and over again. Thanks to Chris for this one. He played it in the car one night and it was love ever since.

Favorite Recipe: These Slow Cooker Honey Buffalo Meatballs look amazing, right?!?!?!

Tender juicy slow cooker Honey Buffalo Meatballs simmered in the most tantalizing sweet heat sauce that everyone goes crazy for! Perfect appetizer or delicious, easy meal with rice!:

Favorite Lust: These booties are so cute at Target.

–Chris and I watched last week’s episode of South Park about Yelp and it’s reviewers. Well apparently Yelp didn’t like it and is trying to sue them for $10 million. You have to read Trey and Matt’s response to the lawsuit. I can’t stop laughing. Also, further down the page they are talking about Fappy the Dolphin which is even more LOL’s than I can handle. ( I left out the dolphin’s full name to avoid weird search engine results to my blog. When you read the article you will see what I mean.)

–Are you the carrot, the egg or the coffee? This article puts life in a new perspective.

This is the most ridiculous piece of clothing I have ever seen in my entire life. And the price??? Only people who can afford it are the ones who cant give the amount of fuck it takes to wear it.

Allure Beauty Box, beauty

October 2015 Allure Beauty Box

Another box full of products to review, let’s take a look at the October 2015 Allure Beauty Box!

What’s the Deal: For $15 a month, Allure sends you 5 deluxe size beauty samples and a mini magazine about the samples.  I pay for this on my own, and all opinions are my own. This is not a sponsored post, a girl just likes to talk beauty sometimes, ok?! You can see last month’s box here.

Cargo Cosmetics Eye Shadow in Oz (full price $16)

Cargo Cosmetics OZ

What it is: This is a paraben free eye shadow that you can use wet or dry.

My thoughts: I would have loved to have gotten a different color that I would actually have worn on my lids to tell you more about the longevity of this shadow. I used the yellow in the corners of my eyes to brighten the area a few times. It is pigmented and the color appears a little less dramatic on skin than it does in the container, which in this case is a good thing. It does have a silky feel to it and I feel like it is a decent quality shadow. I wouldn’t mind trying out another color from this line, it has potential!

Rituals Ginkgo’s Secret Hand Balsalm (full price $17)

Ritual Gingko's Secret

What it is: A nongreasy hand cream that hydrates and heals dry, cracked hands.

My thoughts: This left my hands feeling super soft and absorbed very quickly even though it is a thick cream. It has a clean scent, reminds me of some of the green tea products I have tried in the past. It is a decent lotion at a decent price point and I see that they have a scrub too. I liked how it felt, I do wish it was in a different scent maybe. This one tends to linger for a long time and while it isn’t a bad smell, it isn’t my favorite either.

Red Flower Lymphatic Phytopower Seas Cleanser and Masque (full price $42)

What it is: You can use this one as a face wash or masque. It removes make up and if you use it as a mask, it is to plump up lines.

My thoughts: This one has an orange scent to me. Some skin types may not like that, though it didn’t bother my finicky skin. It works as a decent facial cleanser and didn’t leave me feeling tight or dry like most do. As as masque, I am unsure about plumping lines but it sure did leave my skin dewy. I like dewy.

Bumble & Bumble All-Style Blow Dry (full price $30)

IMG_6473

What it is: This is an all in one before you blow dry cream. It fights frizz, protects against heat damage and extends the life of your blow dry all without making your hair flat.

My thoughts: Every month I always say that a new B&B product is my new favorite and this month is no exception. While I love all the B&B products this is hands down amazing. It smells amazing (sort of floral but in a good way) and my hair looks decent every single day that I have used it. I will 100% be repurchasing this!

Jouer Daily Clarifying Treatment Oil (full price $48)

Jouer Daily Clarifying Treatment Oil

What it is: This is an oil that prevents acne by locking in skin moisture and killing acne causing bacterias. It has grape-see oil, jojoba oil, neem oil and primrose oil.

My thoughts: I am super sensitive to smells and well, this stuff stinks!!!! Like ass. Not really ass but it smells like some type of garlic oil I would use to cook with. Fine in the kitchen but not on my face!!! I did try to hang in there with this product for testing. I used it every day for a week and I felt like I was slowly seeing some results in my break out areas but the smell was too much for me. The good news is, that it wasn’t in the least bit drying. You know how some acne treatments leave you looking worse because you are all crusty and scabby from being dried out? Not even a little with this oil. Like I said, I really wish I could hang in there because my face needs clearing badly. I may try to break this back out this week and try again with a super strong scented moisturizer over it to mask the ass smell. So I may check back in with you on this.

Kryolan Lipstick Matt in Aurora, Eos and Nike (full price $19.50 each)

IMG_6474 (1)

What it is: This is a matte lipstick that is super pigmented with intense colors. It is a creamy formula that goes on smoothly. There is vitamin E to keep it from going dry. The Eos is a tangerine color that looks horrible on pale skin. So stay clear of that one if you are pasty like me! The other two colors were pretty. Aurora is a cranberry-ish color that is maybe a shade or two darker than my actual lip color…and more red than my actual lip color. The Nike is a fuchsia color that is fun.

My thoughts: The colors of this palette are pretty and vivid. I wish I had a lip brush to test them out with better, but I dont. I applied using my finger, which actually went on well but I prefer my lip colors in a tube. If you buy the full price version they are in a tube.  I would consider these in the future, but there are so many great lip products out there and I prefer drugstore prices for my lips.

Out of all these products, the B&B is for sure the winner for me but I enjoyed getting to try all new things. I had never heard of any of these prior to this box so it was a pleasant surprise. Have you tried any of these? What are you loving lately?

Since I do this post monthly, do you guys find it helpful? Do you like that I share the full price of the items and my own personal experience vs what it is supposed to do or would you like me to do something different with them?

Linking up with Joey.

Confessions

–Last Thursday at lunch I went shopping at The Pink Tulip, a local boutique. I found a pair of jeggings and tried them on in my size. The same size I have been in pants since forever. (Probably 2005) They were too big. I went down a size. They fit like a glove. I proceeded to do a happy dance in the dressing room, to the cash register and all the way out to my car! #noshame

–Is it just me, or is anyone else tired of the new strain of Captcha? Why am I choosing pictures of street signs or pies? Get that shit off your blog and get a spam blocker if you are that concerned people!! #thanksfromallofus

–Have you ever tried a new eye liner that was a disaster? I think I am going to do a post on products that I have tried and hated after this fiasco. Seriously though, it was a Maybelline liner that smudged instantly and the application was just dreadful. #raccooneyes

–I haven’t had my hair cut since the week before Christmas last year. How did I let this happen? Cutting the grass all spring and summer gave me natural highlights so I guess I didn’t think about how long it had been? I have been looking on Pinterest for two weeks at different colors and I cant decide what I want. What do you guys think I should do? This is what I have been liking. Keep in mind I have light blue eyes and usually pale skin, though right now I am still rocking a slight tan. #hairwoes #indecisive

I love the dark brown with the very nice, complimentary light/copper/chestnut brown highlights. It's not too extreme but it's noticeable:

–I found a new addiction. Sour Punch Bites. I grabbed a bag of these to take to my mom’s a few weeks ago when we were hanging out and playing games. We all were obsessed with them and the bag was gone in a matter of minutes between all the adults and my nieces and nephews. Since then, every time I drive past Walmart I think….I could just stop and grab a bag. It is a sickness people. A sickness. #sugarcoma

They remind me of sour twizlers. Do you remember those? They were my favorite thing ever. They were discontinued like all the other good stuff. Oreo O’s, dunkaroos, you know what I am talking about!!!

Is there something that was discontinued that you want to bring back?
