Sh!t Chris Says

Sh!t Chris Says

It is time folks. Time for another edition of Sh!t Chris Says!!!!

Sh!t Chris Says

–While watching a football game, the Afflac Duck comes on.  Chris -“Remember when the duck broke his beak. It’s the only time I went online to see more of an ad. I even wrote him a get well card.”

–After a shot of the crowd at an Alabama game – “Is that girl praying?! Like God really cares about football. God probbaly hates football season and Alabama fans. He’s like ‘I gave you Saban, leave me alone!!!!'”

–While watching an episode of The Mindy Project, Mindy is wearing a sweat pants suit to work. She says, “This is the only thing that fits me in my current state.” Chris screams at the TV, “You can’t sit with us!!!” (Mean Girls reference!!!)

–While watching the recent SNL episode with Miley Cyrus…..this one…..

Chris says, “I don’t understand? I need a piano with spaghetti noodles!!!”

(Do you northern folks even see these commercials or is it reserved for the deep south?)

–The Farmer’s dating site commercial comes on while we are watching the Alabama vs Tennessee game. They get to the part where the catchy song starts. Chris sings along with his own version, “You don’t have to be lonely at cousinsonly.com. Go Vols!”

–Chris: “There’s nothing like slamming down a phone on someone. You can’t do that anymore with cell phones. I guess you could just scream CLICK!!!!!! before hanging up.”

He makes an excellent point! He has also been randomly screaming click at the TV when people are on their cell phones….

weekend shenanigans

Weekend Shenanigans

Oh, hey November!!! You sure did come fast! Time for another edition of Weekend Shenanigans!

Does anyone else thing of November Rain when November rolls around?

Accomplished

-cut the front and side yard for the last time this year

-hedged the bushes in the front of our house

-cleaned the house all while listening to Christmas music!!!

-put away all the Halloween decor

-meal planning and grocery shopping

-checked out the Christmas aisles at Target (obviously I want all the things!!)

-made the honey buffalo meatballs that I shared in my Friday Favorites a few weeks ago (I made them with ground chicken instead of beef, they were amazing!!!)

-organized a little bit

-finished reading Accelerate (it was awesome!!! review to come in the book link up next week)

-caught up with all our shows and got half way through season two of Friends

-watched Georgia lose to Florida

-watched Auburn lose to Ole Miss (I was actually rooting for Auburn! For shame, I know….)

Things that I did (1)

AKA Things that didn’t get accomplished

-cutting of the back yard – hey, 9,874 steps from the front and side yard were enough for me this weekend!!!

-working on any of my side projects that I had huge plans for

-organizing all of the things

-solving world hunger

Yesterday when I was taking the Halloween stuff down Chris says, “You putting up the Christmas stuff today?” My response, “It’s too early! That’s next weekend.” Hehehe!!!! That’s right, if I am going to spend hours putting it all up…then I am going to damn well enjoy it for as long as I can!!! I feel like Christmas decor and music only enhances my Thanksgiving experience, not take anything away from it. Plus I feel like if I have it up, it will feel more like November to me. It sure doesn’t feel that way yet. I don’t even feel like Halloween happened already, weird right?

I hope everyone had a fabulous weekend!!! I know I sure enjoyed getting texts from my sister and Laura with all the kiddos dressed up in the Halloween costumes!!!

Linking up with Biana.

friday favorites

Friday Favorites

That picture above is what I like to call Friday evening plans.

And just like that, it is the last Friday Favorites for October!

Favorite Song: Two Weeks by FKA Twigs They played this song on The Originals last week and I was in love at first listen. Been on repeat ever since. What do you think?

Favorite Beauty Products: I got a super awesome package in the mail last week from BzzAgent with some new beauty products to try!

IMG_5317

My absolute favorite of the bunch was the Dolce & Gabbana Passion Eyes Mascara. Honestly, just a few quick swipes and my eyelashes were transformed. This stuff has zero smudge/flaking and it was easy to take off at night with my normal eye make up remover. For sure my new go to!

IMG_6630

They also sent a Dolce & Gabbana Matte Lipstick in Dolce Flirt. This stuff glides right on and has some serious lasting power. I actually had a really hard time wiping it off my thumb after showing you the color test in the picture below. This isn’t as drying as some of the matte lipsticks I have tried, which is great. Nothing worse than flaky lips, am I right?

And last, but certainly not least, was the Gucci Bamboo. I am loving this scent you guys! It is a light, fun, flirty scent. There are notes of Italian Bergamot, Casablanca Lily, Ylang Ylang, and Comoros Sandalwood. It is a super clean scent, wrapped up in perhaps a light floraly after note? If that makes any sense. I think this would be perfection for the spring/summer months.

Every single product in that box was a winner for me.

Favorite Recipe: One thing I miss about Atlanta is all the amazing Thai restaurants that are there. We do have Surin here in Birmingham, which I was actually at on Wednesday night for girls night! One of my favorite recipes I made recently was Thai Peanut Zoodles. I want to change it up and do something over quinoa similar to the thai places I miss so much. Enter Thai Peanut Chicken Quinoa Bowls! Can’t wait to try this out!

book review, books

Citrus

I love fruit. There. I said it. I love all kinds of fruit: berries, pineapple, apples, anything citrus. When I saw the Citrus book I was immediately intrigued. Citrus themed recipes? Don’t mind if I do!

Citrus

The front cover alone is gorgeous!!! Upon opening the book, you will find recipes categorized by each citrus fruit: Lemon, Lime, Orange, Tangerine, Grapefruit, and the rest. You get an introduction and information about each of the citrus fruits and then the recipes follow. Some of the dishes are simple, but they all sound sophisticated and unique to me! You can find anything from drinks, to cakes to main dishes. I was glad to see very different recipes from my usual rotation, it forces me out of my box. Each recipe is accompanied by a beautiful picture. It gets you excited to try them all!!!

On my short list to try are the Icy Blood Orange Margaritas. Have you ever had a blood orange margarita before? I had one at a local restaurant and it was to die for! I don’t even really like margaritas, but some of the fruit flavored ones take me by surprise. The local place only had them as a seasonal special, so I was so excited when I stumbled upon that page!!!

There is a recipe for candied chocolate mandarins. How awesome of a homemade Christmas gift would those make? All you need is sugar, water, mandarins, and dark chocolate. So easy!

Looking for the perfect breakfast? There is a recipe for Burnt Cinnamon-Sugar Grapefruit or Crepes with Candied Tangerines.

For those of you who love the sea food, there are plenty of fish recipes and even one for Linguine with Clams & Lime!

This book would make a wonderful addition to your cookbook collection and would be lovely displayed on your kitchen counter! I also would highly recommend this as a gift for any citrus loving friends! Perhaps pair it with a basket of assorted citrus fruits so they can get cooking.

You can learn more about the author of the book here.

Read the overview and view an excerpt of the book here.

confessions

Confessions

–Reading through all  your comments yesterday really made me happy that I shared my current struggles. I feel like so many of you shared similar thoughts, that you have fallen off a little and need to get back on track now. I think the biggest success I have had on my healthy journey has been to realize that just because I ate bad this morning or this week or this month, doesn’t determine what my next meal decision should be. It is never too early or late to make the right choice! #healthyforlife

–When I hear someone pronounce a city wrong in a state where I used to reside, I feel the immediate need to correct them. #canthelpit #sounditout

–Do  you ever look at Pinterest and get super inspired to go clean out your closet, organize your bathroom cabinets or construct a DIY project. And you are all fired up and passionate about it, have a plan to execute. Then you get  home and you are like meh, Netflix! Oh, me neither. #procrastination

–My sister sent me a picture of a box of pumpkin cheesecake cookies that I just “have to go get” yesterday. I am still thinking about them and cursing her. #struggleisreal #cookiemonster

–I am like a freaking kid at Christmas when the Target toy catalog comes in the mail!!! Not only are there amazing coupons, but I just love flipping through the glossy pages thinking back to when I was little and circling all the things I wanted Santa to bring me. This year there is a $10 off $100 coupon! #buyallthethings

–I need all of you to buy all the shit at the Kate Spade Surprise Sale so that I can’t even think about it, ok? Damn those sales! They come out of nowhere with their amazing deals. #shopaholic
