Fall Goals

I have done seasonal goals for a few years and they used to work out great. Then I shit all over my winter goals last year and decided to give myself a break for spring and summer. There are so many things I want to do between now and December 2nd (DUE DATE!!!!), so I thought the best way to get these goals accomplished was to create a list. We all like lists, right?

I used to break my goals in to categories: Body, Mind, Home, Food. I love focusing on all aspects of my life. Things are going to look a little different for my fall list because my body is no longer my own for the next few months. I am basically just an incubator to grow a healthy baby. Other than continuing moving around the best that I can and getting in my daily work outs, I don’t really have a goal. I will go back to my old format come winter. Probably.

Fall Things

Make a pie from scratch.
Watch Hocus Pocus.
Set up fall decorations.
Drink apple cider.
Bake pumpkin cookies.

Baby Goals

Paint nursery.
Purchase dresser, glider, ottoman, cube shelf and other items still needed for nursery.
Decorate nursery.
Wash all clothes, towels and bedding after baby shower.
Install car seat.
Pack hospital bag.
Clear a cabinet or space in kitchen for bottles.
Pre-register at hospital.
Complete DIY project for nursery.
Find curtains/window treatment for nursery.

Home Goals

Clear out remaining clutter from spare room and set up defined office area for myself.
Clean out garage and get rid/donate items no longer needed.
Reorganize kitchen pantry.
Reorganize kitchen cabinets.
Use wood cleaner to scrub all cabinets.
Clean out drawers in master bathroom.
Organize guest bathroom cabinets for baby items.
Organize hall linen closet.
Replace light bulbs in garage and front entrance.
Find new location for iron/ironing board.

Confessions

Here’s a confession for you…Having Monday off completely threw off my days and I forgot today was Wednesday! Sorry about that!

— I didn’t watch the VMA’s. I didn’t even know they were one until after. I did YouTube B Spears performance, because duh. All I have to say is I want to know where she got that glitter hoodie because I clearly need one. And will she please come be my personal trainer after baby because damn, that bitch looks good! I don’t care if she lip-synced every single word. The girl is a performer and her new song is amazing.

–Whenever I look at my phone when I get in to the car and it tells me I am 45 minutes away from work or 11 minutes away from one of my usual lunch areas, I want to be like why are you so obsessed with me? It’s freaky!!!

–I made the mistake of joining some “mommy groups” on Facebook. I stay in them because if I have a legit question or concern, someone may be able to help. What I cant stand is all the mommy shaming and ridiculous comments I see in the group. The other day someone posted about how they cant stand the drink you have to take for the Diabetes testing and how it was the worst day of her pregnancy and she was asking if she can refuse it or take an alternative test. Ummmmm drinking a few sips of a sweet drink was the worst day of your pregnancy? Bitch, please! That drink was nothing. NOTHING. To be honest, I was so thirsty from having to fast for nine hours before that I was just happy to have something liquid in my mouth. How is she going to handle labor??

–Why are service people so ridiculous when they enter a professional office space? We have had a lot of work done on our internet and other things in the IT closet and every single person that has come in from an outside company is just so rude and inconsiderate of cube space. They put people on speaker phone, they talk incredibly loud, they whistle and tap things while they wait. One guy had a personal conversation with his baby mama for about 20 minutes. I AM TRYING TO WORK ASSHOLES.

You Might Think It’s Punny

One of my favorite memories from when I was younger, is playing games with my family. My mom, sister and I would sit for hours playing board games and card games. I still have plenty of those games and have since added some but we never seem to play them. One of my goals is to play them more often, especially at family get togethers. For my mom’s 50th birthday last year, my sister and I set up an entire day filled with food and board games for my mom. It was so much fun and my nephews still talk about how they want to do it again.

Enter Punderdome. If you have a corny sense of humor or like bad jokes, this game is for you! Here is how you play.

Who does’t like a good pun??? Here are some examples…

While I don’t think Punderdome “will replace Cards Against Humanity,” I do think it is a fun game to play at a get together. Especially if you are trying to keep it cleaner, as the game is 12 and up. We came up with some pretty funny and pretty terrible puns. I just think you have to have the right group of people to make the game fun and it sure can pass the time.

weekend shenanigans

Weekend Shenanigans – The One With Three Days

There is nothing better than a three day weekend, am I right?? Chris dubbed this past Sunday “second Saturday” and it was quite glorious! What’s not glorious? Having to wake up to reality this morning. Woof.

I started my Friday out with my first PSL of the year!!! It was wonderful. For whatever reason, last year I didn’t care for them as much as I usually do but this one was so good! Maybe they changed something? I don’t know.

For lunch, I grabbed Jimmy Johns (always a #12 Beach Club with no mayo or tomato add Dijon and obviously salt and vinegar chips) and walked around The Summit. It was one of those days where I just needed to get out of the office. I scored some really good deals on a few shirts for Chris at Belk! They had an additional 50% off their clearance. When I got back, our internet was down and after waiting it out for an hour my boss told us to just go home and finish our work there. YES!!! A technology fail that worked in my favor.

Saturday morning I cleaned and did laundry, then Chris and I headed out to Blackwell’s Pub to catch a little of football and I ordered a PB&J burger. Yes, peanut butter and blackberry jelly on a burger! Like any good sports bar, the lighting was horrible and this is the best picture I could get.

We went to Crazy Horse for dinner where we started the Alabama game, caught some of it at his sister’s house and some of it at his parents house and then finished it with a win at our house. And then watched Auburn lose to Clemson. So overall, a great night!

Sunday was a lazy, lazy, lazy day where we literally did not change out of our jammies or leave the couch the entire day. We basically watched all but 2 episodes from season 6 of One Tree Hill and ordered a pizza because we didn’t feel like going to the store. Or anywhere. It was wonderful!!!

Monday morning I read some and then we got an early start to run some errands. We scored some awesome things at Hobby Lobby for the nursery! I stopped by HomeGoods to pick up this super cute bunny tummy time pillow I had seen last weekend only for it to be gone. They had like 7 of them. Damn you Marshall’s Law!! Clearly I still haven’t learned my lesson. We did score a pink elephant hooded bath towel at Bargain Hunt for $5 too though, so all was not lost. Then we got our grocery shopping done, picked up Moe’s BBQ for lunch and watched One Tree Hill the rest of the day!

Oh, and there was lots of this going on this weekend too. Such a sweet, cuddly Mac! He clearly knows the importance of a nap and TV time. And he sits on the arm of our recliner like a freaking boss.

And Chris surprised me with “just because” roses. So sweet!!

Friday Favorites – Three Day Weekend Style

I am extremely ready for this three day weekend. Extremely. Not to mention that tomorrow kicks off football season for Alabama! The game doesn’t start until 7pm. Don’t they know it is going to go past my bedtime? Hopefully I can hang in there! I have plans to get some stuff done around the house this weekend as well, so hopefully that happens.

Favorite Song: I hadn’t heard this song in forever and I think it came on One Tree Hill or something last week. Anyways, love and had to immediately add it to one of my Spotify lists. One of the best things about watching One Tree Hill now is a reminder of all the awesome music. Boston by Augustana.

Favorite Recipe: This Mexican Street Corn Soup looks so good!!! I know a lot of people consider the fall and winter to be soup season, but its soup season all year in my house. I just love soup, what can I say?

Favorite Moment: Chris made an August mix and posted it to Soundcloud. He didn’t even really promote it or share it on Twitter or anything and it has had over 1 million plays in a week!!! That is insanity!!! Here it is if you want to check it out. He has had two internet radio stations reaching out to him to play it already.

Favorite Purchase: I tried to go the drugstore route with my foundation the last two times I purchased some. I wanted to save money and thought I would give them a try. You guys? I just cant. I loved the Loreal Lumi Cushion one that I got but at $15.99 it only lasted a month. Ummmm I can get about a half a year out of some of the higher end brands so while they cost more upfront, when you break it down to monthly they look a whole lot better! I also tried Maybelline Dream Liquid Foundation and it would be ok if I didn’t have combination skin. Or it wasn’t hot as balls down here. Or I didn’t want a whole lot of coverage. So I am back to an old friend. Estee Lauder Double Wear. You cannot beat the coverage of this one! Plus, Macy’s is doing a free gift with purchase right now and it is an awesome free gift!!!

This was the free gift. I chose the eye shadow, liner and mascara (over the lipstick, gloss and blush) and the elephant zipper charm. How gorgeous is that bag?

Favorite Lust: I have been wanting to try the Too Faced Melted Lipsticks. Anyone else out there have them/love them? Let me know.

I have been on the hunt for a tiered tray for our bathroom counter for all our lotions and potions that drive me nuts. I keep looking at TJ Maxx and HomeGoods and of course since I am in the market I never see any. Eventually I will find one! Something like this or this would be great!

–Sadly, I have to agree with this article on Macy’s. When I am walking around their stores, I don’t feel like I am in an “upper class” department store. In fact, some Kohl’s look better! I hope they can turn things around because I love the INC brand and the Macy’s Day Parade and everything.
