I am hoping that March takes it’s business with her when she leaves. I feel like I am a sinking ship lately. The house is a mess, I am literally behind on all the things, and every time I cross one thing off at work, two more drop in it’s place. Also, allergies. If you dont know what the entire state looks like covered in pollen, take a trip down south in the spring. I have been living down here for 20 years now, and I am still shocked every spring when everything has a yellow/green coating of nasty on it for two months straight. There isn’t enough Clariton or nasal spray in the world to make you feel better. And that sentence made me realize something. It really has been 20 years since we moved to the south. Do you know how old that sounds that I can say, oh it’s been 20 years since….and I am not talking about being in elementary school?! LOL.

Anyways, you guys it is Easter weekend! The schools here have been on spring break this week. I can FINALLY pull out my sandals and flip flops and start wearing them on Sunday. I try to wait until Easter to deem them appropriate for work. Zoe’s daycare is closed today and my office closes at 2pm, so I am going to work from home this morning. My sister is supposed to come over for a bit today, and I am supposed to see my mom tomorrow for a little while. Haven’t seen her since Christmas! We spend Easter with Chris’s family, so we will be over there Sunday. What do you have planned?

Favorite Moments: I ate at Farm Bowl TWICE this week. Those acai bowls are addicting and they make it so easy to just drop in and take one to go if you have errands to run.

Zoe’s daycare was closed yesterday too, so I worked from home and we had some craft time before her nap. She is so much fun at this age!!! We did some painting, and colored in a book. She has this fun game where I lay on the couch and she “sneaks up” behind me and I look all surprised that she is there. She laughs and laughs so hard and loud that she snorts and then I laugh too. She can play that game for like 10 minutes straight. She has started giving kisses and they are the sweetest little kisses ever. And she learned the word “uh oh” and basically repeated in the car the entire way home the other night. (Our drive is about 35 minutes from daycare to the house in the evenings, mind you.) It was the cutest thing and I would repeat her and we would both laugh.

She received her first Scholastic books on Monday!!! They had a book fair at her school a few weeks ago and I was so darn excited about it! Was it not your favorite day of the school year??? I think my favorite book from the stack is Shoe-La-La. It is so cute! I put them all aside to put in her Easter basket, so I cant wait til we start reading these. But of course, I read them all before I put them up because book nerd over here!

Favorite Recipe: This Thai rice bowl sounds fabulous.

Thai Cashew Coconut Rice with Ginger Peanut Dressing. This rice salad is seriously addictive and always a huge hit at potlucks!

Favorite Purchase: Target has their t’s on sale for $5. Normally I would think, there is a reason they are $5. But no, seriously. I ordered a red and a white pocket v-neck with my Target card and it was less than $10 and they are amazing!!! It has been a long time since I have worn a plain tshirt. Normally they fit like garbage and I don’t feel comfortable. There is something about the material and the cut of these that rivals some of the $30 and $40 ones you can find at Nordstrom. Thanks Lindsay for talking me in to them!

Weekend Shenanigans

I cant even believe it, my baby sister is going to be 30 tomorrow!!! She’d probably kill me for putting that out there on the internet, but like how old do I sound saying my baby sister is 30??? She is the best sister in the whole world and I am so so so so so thankful for her and the relationship that we have. I speak to her several times a week and if there is one family member that you can count on out of everyone, it is my sister. She is so incredible. And seeing her relationship bloom with Zoe is my favorite. Zoe will actually choose her over me sometimes, and that never happens with anyone other than Chris. So that is saying something. Tracy, if you are reading this post…I love you! Happy Birthday!

Speaking of age, you guys!!! Chris and I stopped at Publix this weekend to pick up a few things and we had beer. The cashier got to the beer, and I was messing with Zoe in the cart and had my face turned and I saw her looking at me out of the corner of my eye so I looked over and I was like oh, do you need my ID? And she was like yes, please! I grabbed it and gave it to her and she was like ummmm if you say so and looked all confused. I was like really?????? Most days I dont even have people ask for my ID. It’s something with my new hair, I dont know if it is the cut or color but I am thinking this is how I need to keep it! Made me feel so good, and young, walking out of there! Oh, and I barely had any makeup on. Just eye make up and BB cream.

Friday I met up with my two friends who still live in state from the Friday Lunch Club! It has been awhile since we were all together and it felt so good. I love those girls, they are truly amazing. We met up at Urban and I ordered the delicious Very Berry Salad with turkey. We vowed that we need to make it a more regular thing again.

Saturday I was up early and had the floors cleaned, counters wiped down and a load of laundry going before 630am. I also started a new book and managed to read a few chapters with my coffee before Zoe woke up. I love mornings like that. I felt so accomplished. Other than dishes and more laundry, it was all I really accomplished all weekend though lol. Saturday afternoon we headed over to Chris’s parents house and hung out with them for a little while. When we got home and got Zoe to bed, Chris and I hung out listening to the 90’s Nation on MTV Classic. Have you guys checked out that channel? Amazing!!!! I even poured myself an amaretto sour!

Sunday we hit up Target for our groceries for the week. They are doing $10 off a food purchase of $50 or more this week! I love when they do that! We came home and made homemade pizzas for lunch. Delicious! I kept myself in check and had a sensible spinach salad for dinner.

Linking up with Biana. I hope you guys have a great week!! Can’t believe Easter is next weekend!!!

Friday Favorites

To say I am glad that the weekend is upon us is an understatement. This week was exhausting and I am pretty much ready to ditch all work and thoughts of work for the next two days! I don’t even know what we have planned for this weekend, but I know that some cleaning needs to be involved. Goodness, I don’t think anything other than dishes and laundry has been done in like two weeks. Oops. Also, thanks to all the rain and the random spring days….the grass is going to be needing attention soon. Adulting, am I right?

Favorite Moments: We have been enjoying a lot of healthy dinners this week. I really enjoyed egg roll in a bowl and turkey burgers with my maple roasted  brussels! Another one we have nearly every week is my baked pork chops recipe.

Chris and I had a lunch date at IKKO on Tuesday. We both ordered sushi and I also enjoyed an egg roll. It was delicious! It is nice to get to spend some time together, just the two of us.

I haven’t had lunch with Laura the last two weeks and it makes me sad. We are going to have to make up with something awesome next week!

Favorite Recipe: It is no secret around these parts that I love a cheeseburger. I found this keto friendly recipe that I cant wait to try!

KETO Cheeseburger Casserole. It's everything you want from a burger, with a low carb way to enjoy all the delicious flavors!

Favorite Lusts: I am in desperate need of a wardrobe refresh, mainly spring/summer clothes. I also need one or two more pair of sandals to replace some that have been retired. I am in love with these bow flip flops from LC at Kohls. Right now they are on mega sale and I want to scoop up both colors!

I also like these knotted ones, same brand.

Has anyone tried these Articles of Society jeans at Nordstrom? They are on sale, making them under $40, and they have decent reviews. I have never tried a pair on to know. My current jeans are looking frumpy and baggy. Thank goodness.

I need to grab one or two of the Old Navy Swing Dresses while they are on sale. I have one from last year that I wore the crap out of. My only issues is, the arm holes are too big in the size I usually grab. I have this issue at a lot of stores with sleeveless tops and dresses. Is it just me???

Because of said arm hole issues, I live in my jean jacket over my dresses. The one I have is about 7 years old and on its last leg. It is from Old Navy and I really dont care for the fit of it to be honest. I think I need something a little higher quality to look better. I like the look of this one, but we dont have a Nordstrom for me to try it on. What is your favorite?? Spam me with them please!

recipe

Maple Roasted Brussels Sprouts

Last week I had lunch with a friend at one of my favorite local places, SoHo Social. I almost always order the sweet potato fries with gorgonzola dip as an appetizer, so I don’t want more fries with my meal….you know? I decided to try the brussels they had listed and OMG!!! They were the best I have ever had! I knew I had to recreate them at home immediately. Enter this super simple concoction!

What You Need

1 package shaved brussels or around a pound of regular brussels halved

olive oil

salt

black pepper

2-3 tablespoons real maple syrup

What You Do

–Preheat oven to 400 degrees

–Place brussels in a bowl and drizzle with olive oil, salt and black pepper to taste. Be sure to mix it around real good!

–Line a pan with tin foil and spread out in a single layer.

–Bake for 15 minutes. Toss them around and put them back in for about 8-10 minutes.

–Drizzle 2-3 tablespoons of maple syrup on them, mix them around real good and good for about 8-10 more minutes.

Enjoy the deliciousness!!!!!!!!!!!!

about me

Lately

Lately it has been crazy. Zoe came home from daycare Monday with a fever and I spent the rest of the week working from home trying to get her healthy for surgery and keep my head above water for work. Every time I look at my list of jobs I need to complete, it has grown. Good for business, but ummm yeah. A little overwhelming, you know? Plus, the cold that Zoe caught was so graciously passed on to me as well and I felt like death for about 2 and 1/2 days. I literally used an entire box of Kleenex in one day.

Zoe’s surgery went well on Friday. They sort of downplayed how she was going to be when she came back from the operating room. I may or may not have cried twice. Once when they took her back there, and once after the nurses left us alone with her and she was just sitting there crying and looking both pissed and terrified. She was pretty much back to her normal self later in the day though. Kids are so damn resilient.

Other than that, not much really to report. We stayed in this past weekend to keep Zoe healthy and resting. Chris’s parents came to visit her Friday afternoon, and my sister and oldest nephew came to visit Saturday for a few hours. Zoe loved all the attention and get well presents they came with. I didn’t hate all the snuggles and kisses Zoe was dishing out this past week. SO SWEET.

In other news, I got my hair cut and colored this weekend. LOVE.

I enjoyed some spicy shrimp sushi from Whole Foods after my derm appointment on Monday. It had been awhile since I had an all over skin check. I was worried about one mole in particular. Super happy to report everything looked good. I don’t know why I put things like this off, you know? I am trying to be better about that.

And in other exciting things, I won Cara’s giveaway and received the items last week!!! Cara is one of my favorite beauty gurus to follow because she shares a lot of affordable options and is super sweet.

What have you all been up to? Linking up with Biana. Hope you have a wonderful week!
