My husband cracks me up! There is no one I would rather do life with. It has been awhile since I have shared any of the funny shit that comes out of his mouth, so here we go!!
——
Chris after waking up on a Sunday morning: “It would be nice if Waffle House was on their way here.
Me: ” Umm…They don’t deliver.”
Chris: “I know, and you remind me of this hell I live in.”
——
I was on my way home one Friday evening and I usually pick up something from one of two BBQ places on the way. I texted Chris to see what he wanted…..this is what I get…..
Please someone tell me, what goes best with New Girl? They didn’t have any Schmidt sandwiches. I brought him home a BBQ turkey plate instead.
—–
Let me paint the scene on this one first….Chris grabs his Dreamcast (an old gaming console system) and lays down on the couch hugging it.
Chris: “Me n bae snuggling on the couch.”
——
Chris is looking at the weather radar on his phone. He turns it towards me so I can see and says, “It is going to weather out there.”
—–
After getting dressed, Chris comes up to me.
Chris: “Do I look like a douche?”
Me: “No?”
Chris: “Are you sure? I want people to know me first before they are like, man…this guy is a douche!”
And that is some of the shit that Chris has said lately. You can see more of what he said here. With links to more posts in that post!
We are in the last week of July! Let that sink in for a minute…
This weekend was pretty chill. Friday, I met some friends for lunch at Chicken Salad Chick. I do love some good chicken salad!
Friday evening, Chris had his friend Jay over to stream Tomorrowland, so I decided to curl up and finish the book I had started earlier in the week, Everything I Left Unsaid. I also started a new book Friday evening, Reckless, and finished it last night!
Saturday I cut the side yard and nearly melted from the heat. Chris wanted to stream the second day of Tomorrowland, so I headed to Target to get some snacks for the day and get our grocery shopping done! While I was there, I grabbed this last urchin on clearance for $5.98!!!!
I made 7 layer dip for us and we just chilled out all day listening to music. It was wonderful!
Sunday we met up with my mom, my sister and her family for lunch at Golden Rule BBQ. It was great getting to see all of them for a little while. My sister brought us some of her pickles, jalapenos, tomatoes and some homemade ham salad sandwiches. Delicious!!!
The rest of the day was dedicated to binging on Hart of Dixie and prepping food for the week. I made Edamame Quinoa salad for lunch and cajun baked shrimp with angel hair pasta for dinner. It was my first time making shrimp, and it turned out pretty damn good!
In other weekend scenes, there was a lot of this going on….
I hope everyone had a fabulous weekend! I got in an arm work out and my first day of the 30 day yoga challenge this morning. I am about to hit the ground running!
Favorite Song:Hang by Matchbox 20 is one of my favorite songs of theirs. Perfect for this overcast morning drive.
Favorite Recipe: Kathy shared a grain free recipe that she had found for Apple Cinnamon Muffins awhile back and I just got around to making them this week. They were so easy to make and so freaking delicious! These are legit you guys, check them out!
Favorite Binge: We finished New Girl this week and were looking for something else. Chris used to like the OC back in the day and said that we ought to try Hart of Dixie since it takes place in a fictional town right here in Alabama! You guys, I am hooked!!! This is the cutest show.
Favorite Tweet: That moment when an author tweets out your review of their book.
Favorite Moment: I went to see Laura and B last night and got to meet little Sheffield! He is so precious!
Favorite Lust: When I was at Nordstrom Rack last weekend I saw some Michael Kors glasses that I really wanted. They look very much like this. I hope they are still there when I go back!!
Favorite Pin: One day I would love to have a closet room to look a lot like this…
Favorite Funnies:
I hate cauliflower…
Freaking brilliant idea!
How I felt on the treadmill this morning…
When someone says something they probably shouldn’t have…
–I have gotten really lazy in my meal planning. As in, we basically eat the same stuff every single week for lunch and dinner. I think I have determined that in the summers, it is just too hot to care. This is basically what my lunch looks like.
There is always water and Greek Quinoa Salad and then a piece of fruit – either apple or peach and a veggie – either celery with peanut butter or edamame. And I have literally been eating this combo 4 days a week for 2 months. I think this weekend I need to step up my game.
–Does anyone else have a room in their house that is a catch all for things that don’t have a home? Somehow we seem to have two. I really need to get my life together!!! Or purge things. Probably that last one.
–Mac got groomed while we were at the beach and I still cant get over how stinking small he is under all that fur. I think he is enjoying not looking like an untamed, homeless man.
–This week in people being ridiculous — People are upset at the Trophy shirt that Target sells. People are saying that it is offensive, sexist and outdated.
If you don’t like it, then don’t buy it. While I myself will not be sporting a shirt that says trophy across my chest, who cares if someone else does? I am sure that there are some women out there who dream of being a pretty “trophy wife.” Who have aspired to stay at home and just be arm candy. That is their own damn business. Because this is America and we can dream whatever we want. A woman has a right to like that shirt just as much as a woman has a right to not like it. Why does everyone have to be so fucking judgy these days??? Isn’t it the same thing as a guy wearing a tickets to the gun show shirt? It’s just supposed to be funny. Let it go people. Stop being ridiculous about everything!!!

How I feel after doing yard work or running in this ridiculous heat…
This book you guys. This book. It was so sweet!! I fell in love instantly with this book and got invested in all the characters and life in Ashford, Connecticut!
Lucy and her mother Crystal are bit of nomads, bouncing around from town to town until Lucy’s mother falls ill with ALS. Now Lucy must work double shifts at the diner to just barely scrape by and spend all of her spare time by her mother’s side trying to care for her.
Lucy’s mom makes her promise to take a year for herself. To jump on the first bus that leaves out of town and go discover herself and invest time in her passion, art.
Lucy ends up in Ashford, Connecticut and lands a job at the Maple Syrup Farm after coaxing stubborn, yet oh so hot Clay into giving her a chance to be a farmer’s assistant. Of course, this is after Lucy walks in on him on a ladder singing and grinding to Genuine’s Pony. A guy after my heart.
Lucy quickly learns that life in a small town is everything she was missing. The people are all in each other’s business, but certainly care and do everything they can to help each other out. You get to meet Lil and CeeCee who work at the Gingerbread Cafe. Turns out…there is a series by the author about the Gingerbread Cafe that I can’t wait to sink my teeth in to!!!
Clay is very much a recluse, and Lucy has to work very hard to chisel away at his ice. They both have secrets from their past and feel at home at the Maple Syrup Farm under the maple trees who lend them comfort. Lucy’s passion for art and her eye for the beauty in nature are described just beautifully in this book!
While this is considered romance, I would classify closer to maybe chick lit? You didn’t have the super steamy scenes like some romance books and more of just a good love story. The relationship between Lucy and her mom was so sweet. It reminds me very much of the relationship that I have with my mom. I highly recommend this book!!! I was hooked instantly and could barely put it down because I needed to know what happened.
I was provided a copy of this book by the publisher and author via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
