Sh!t Chris Says

Sh!t Chris Says

Who is ready for another edition of Shit Chris Says?!?!?! I feel like I should have a lot more material for this post that I do. Clearly I forgot to make notes in my phone and well, my brain isn’t functioning at 100% these days. I don’t even think it is at 50%.

–Chris and his friend J go to pick up BBQ at Landmark and ask me what I want. I said banana pudding, I didn’t want any BBQ or anything. It came in a cup like he ordered a to go drink. Like this…probably the 16 ounce one…Image result for to go styrofoam drink cupThe next day….

Chris: Did you eat all that banana pudding????

Me: Um. Yes.

Chris: …….

Me: I was pregnant with a craving don’t judge me!!!

Chris: Damn. Last night when I asked for it the guy goes “What size?” And I said “You have the pregnant special?” The guy says “I got  you” and hands me that huge cup of it.

Me: Well it was appropriately portioned for my craving.

Honestly it was a lot of fucking pudding. I am judging myself, but whatever.

–We were walking to the register at Bargain Hunt and Chris was carrying a baby swing that was already put together. Somehow it started to fold on him some and it pinched his hand. He was like “help me!!!” And being in a pregnancy brain fog I just grabbed for it not looking at where  his hands were and made it worse by pinching him in there even harder. I felt awful. 🙁 Later that night…

Chris: My hand still hurts!!!

Me: I’m sorry baby. I didn’t mean to make it worse.

Chris: It wasn’t your fault, but now I know what child  birth feels like.

Me: Yes. I am sure it was exactly the same thing….

–We had an issue with our septic tank and it made a nasty mess. Chris was the one who stayed home while it was being fixed and had the clean up afterwards.

Chris: I guess it is good this happened when it did.

Me: Why?

Chris: Well after cleaning that nasty shit, I will have no problems changing our baby’s diaper. It will be like nothing now!!!

Me: Haha well that’s good!!! It was that bad huh?

Chris: I don’t want to talk about it.

weekend shenanigans

Weekend Shenanigans

This weekend I had plans to do all of the things and well…I did none of those things. Oops? It started out innocently enough on Friday at lunch. My goal? Finish at least one person on my Christmas list. I did that and shopped the Sephora VIB sale. Total win. The store didn’t have my foundation so I had to place an online order too. I really needed that now because I have been scraping bottom for weeks. Oh well, what can you do?

Saturday morning I finished reading Trophy Wife, cleaned the house, did some laundry, put together the Pack ‘n Play, and put batteries in any baby items that needed batteries. Mac supervised my assembly of the Pack and Play among a pile of Chris’s shoes in our room. He is a weird one. All hail King of the Nikes.

Then we headed out to watch some football! We started out at Chris’s parents house for the Alabama game and then headed to World of Beer to catch the Georgia vs Auburn game because it was a friend’s birthday and they were there to celebrate. I was happily surprised that Georgia pulled out a win!!! I really thought everything was going to come down to the Iron Bowl…but nope. Then after seeing some more games, I realized that all three of the other top four teams would fall. I can’t say that I am mad about that either…

img_0675

I found it funny that Washington was chanting “We want Bama” before their game. Ummm you lost to a team that we won 52-6….no you don’t.

Saturday night we didn’t get home until nearly 8pm and I was exhausted from being out all day so nothing else was accomplished. Around 11 or 12 I started to get some pretty strong contractions and they lasted most of the night. I thought we might have to go to the hospital but they quit early morning. I have a feeling I am just going to be on edge a lot over the next two and a half weeks!!!

Yesterday I got up and got out early to run our errands. I have been looking for a robe and some pajamas to wear to the hospital and around the house after baby and I just haven’t been having any luck. I finally found a robe at Kohl’s yesterday and decided to just go to Motherhood for some nursing sleep wear and tops. I got our grocery shopping done and headed back home to get the homemade sauce going for our lasagna for dinner. Every year for our anniversary I make lasagna from scratch. Yum!!!

img_0665

We caught up on a few of our TV shows and I never got around to hanging all of the decor in the nursery or getting our Christmas stuff out. Chris went to bed pretty early and I stayed up full of anxiety. I should have made more of an effort to at least accomplish one of those things I kept thinking!!! So I stayed up to midnight watching Miracle on 34th Street and writing out some thank you cards. At least I can cross those of my list.

This guy didn’t seem to mind some of the down time either…

And just like that, another weekend has come and gone and I still have lots to do! This weekend was the first weekend I really thought, could this be the last weekend before baby? Who knows?! I have a lot to do at work this week. My pipeline has gotten long again and I need to do as much as I can to stay caught up before I go on leave. One night after work, I might have a hanging party in the nursery to at least knock that out. The Christmas stuff can wait until next Saturday. What have you got going on?

favorites, friday favorites

Friday Favorites

Who else is excited that the Sephora VIB sale starts today?!?! Just in time because I am literally scraping the bottom of my foundation this morning!!! Somehow we are creeping up on the middle of November already and you can tell because all the Black Friday ads are starting to leak and stores are having early Black Friday preview sales. Did you catch the one Target did with Cartwheel yesterday? There were a few things I saw on it but I never made my way over there. Bummer, but I am sure there will be others!

This weekend Alabama plays Mississippi state at 11am. Early game! Does anyone else hate Mississippi State games because of the annoying cow bells? Those things hurt my head!!! Other than that, we have a few things to get done around the house and some anniversary celebrating to do.

Favorite Moments:

–Monday, Laura and I finally had our burger date at Jack Brown’s. It was extra delicious and enjoyed since it was on a Monday. I ordered my favorite, the Danny Laruso, that has cream cheese and pepper jelly on it with a side of sweet potato fries and their crack sauce. Annnnnd of course we had to get fried oreos for dessert because Mondays!

–Got my first Peppermint Mocha of the season on my way to the office yesterday and got a little more in the holiday spirit with the red cup and one of my fall/winter purses. Do you have certain purses you carry during certain seasons?

Favorite Delivery: I received the Cozy Voxbox in the mail from Influenster. There were a few products in the box I was already familiar with, but always happy to receive!! And a few new to me things.

Simple Wipes – Love these! My favorite of the make-up wipes! I actually had just finished a package and bought a new one, so I am saving these for my hospital stay.

Daisy Sour Cream – A staple on taco night, am I right? What I really loved about this specific one is the squeeze tube it comes in. MAJOR game changer for tacos, nachos, and anything you are trying to dress up with some! The only down side is they gave me a free coupon for this and the coupon didn’t work so I was pretty disappointed that I didn’t get mine free and I am still praising the tube packaging so you know it is good.

Country Crock – Another household staple. What more can you say about it?

Pilot Frixon Clicker Pens – Who doesn’t want fun new pens?!?! Am I the only one who gets excited about office supplies? I just loved the way these wrote and that they have the comfort grip on them. They are erasable and they say they are retractable but I can’t figure out how to retract them? Mine might be broken in that department but they still write great!

Maybelline Super Stay 24 Color in Keep Up The Flame – While this color isn’t something that I would normally grab for myself, I am more of a nude, pink or berry girl….the staying power on this one is pretty good! It has a double-sided two step tube to lock in the color.

Ebates – I have never used Ebates in the past. Mainly because I used to not do a ton of shopping online other than Amazon. Now that I have a baby coming, I see my love for stores changing at least a little and am signing up!

Favorite Recipe: Since our anniversary was on a Thursday, we decided to wait and celebrate this weekend. It has been a tradition for me to make homemade lasagna every year so I might be pulling this recipe back out! Yum!!!

Favorite Lusts: After high praise from Katie and Mattie, I put these leggings at the top of my Christmas list. According to them, the thick waste band makes them super comfortable, they stay up and you can see right through them. And the price isn’t too terrible either. Everything I ask for in a legging!

I want to thank all the Veterans out there for their service. I hate that there are people out there burning the very flag that they fought so hard to protect. Let’s have some respect for our country and not burn our flag!!! That solves nothing. Instead, go put some good out into the world and thank a Vet.

First of all, I wanted to take a moment to say Happy Anniversary to Chris!!!! Today is our 4th Wedding Anniversary and I have to say, I love him now more than ever! Chris sees in me things that I don’t even think I realize sometimes and is always pushing me to do better. He makes me feel alive and he makes me laugh. We have been through so much together and I can’t imagine doing life with anyone else. We are sooooo excited to meet our daughter in just a few short weeks!!!

Listening: To lots of Christmas music!! Still trying to feel fall and the holiday season. Thanksgiving is TWO WEEKS from today. That is crazy you guys!! It sure doesn’t feel like it but I am trying. Other than Christmas tunes, I have been listening to Shotgun Lovesongs on audiobook on my commute. It’s been on my list forever and comes highly recommended by many, so far I am enjoying it.

Shotgun Lovesongs

Reading: Trophy Wife – So far so good on this one too. I just started it on Tuesday, trying to work through my Netgalley list and not let it get out of control. You know, since I requested two more books yesterday. Oops.

Trophy Wife

Watching: Last night we caught up on Lucifer. I don’t know why, but I just love this show!!! Have you tried it? It came out last year and is in the second season.

Working: My plan is to work until I can’t anymore, based on my weekly doctor appointments. I have been trying to stay ahead to leave as little left over as possible for my coworkers. Around the house we still have a few things to do in the nursery. Hopefully the dresser will be in this week and I can set up the rest of her stuff that I have sitting around. Other than that, I really would like to start pulling out our Christmas stuff this weekend. I know it is early, but I am due the week after Thanksgiving and I am already feeling miserable basically all the time now and I just want to get it done while I can still sort of move around.

Feeling: Excited. Anxious. Nervous. It’s weird to know that any day things could change and I could go in to labor at this point. I am considered “full term” tomorrow. As stated above, I have reached that point of pregnancy where I am just really uncomfortable all of the time. So much swelling, back pain, and just feeling large and sluggish. Someone commented yesterday on how much slower I walk now. Yeah, no kidding! You try carrying around a whole bunch of extra weight out front with your feet and ankles five times the size they normally are.

Have you seen the article about all the different red cups that are coming out today at Starbucks? I guess everyone can breathe again who was bitching about the green ones. People are ridiculous! I was actually planning on picking up a Peppermint Mocha this morning anyways because #Thursday. What have you been reading, listening, watching, excited for?

book review, books

Books Lately

Is there anyone else who is completely happy that today is election day so that the political ads and bullshit goes away?!?! I am sooooo over it! Anyways. Time to link up with Steph and Jana for Show Us Your Books! I have a little bit of everything today including some Christmas reads!!! Sometimes I love nothing more than a cozy Christmas story, am I right? Maybe it will help me get in to the season a little more since it has been so hot here.

The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin

The Happiness Project: Or Why I Spent a Year Trying to Sing in the Morning, Clean My Closets, Fight Right, Read Aristotle, and Generally Have More Fun

You guys, I am not going to lie. I was super skeptical about this book and hence why I kept putting it off. I am really not the self help kind of person but I wanted to give this a try. My verdict? Life changing. I cant tell you how glad I am that I read this book! I cleaned and purged some more items around my house, I have a completely new perspective on some areas of my relationships, and overall I basically just have a little happiness project of my own started because of this book. I actually dedicated a post to this book you can see here.

Bottom Line: I honestly believe that anyone could benefit from reading this book in some way. If you are seeking happy, trying to live more purposefully, wanting to tidy your house, need to listen to something positive and motivating then this is for you!

Twelve Days of Christmas by Debbie Macomber

Twelve Days of Christmas

It’s time to start getting in to those warm and cozy Christmas novels! This was a very quick read for me, just a few hours and I had the warm and fuzzies. Julia starts a blog called The Twelve Days of Christmas after a few unpleasant run-ins with her neighbor Cain. She wants to kill him with kindness and see if it makes a change in his life. Just a really cute, feel good read! Plus, we can all relate to needing a good blog topic, right?

Bottom Line:If you are looking for a quick and easy Christmas feel good story, than give this a go!

Rating: 3.5/5

**I received a copy of The Twelve Days of Christmas from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are of my own.**

A Whole Latte Murder by Caroline Fardig

A Whole Latte Murder

This is the third book in the Java Jive series, which reminds me a little of the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich. I really enjoy these novels, the characters are fun and you feel like you are a part of the Java Jive coffee shop staff. I like that Juliet is probably a little more capable of investigating and sleuthing than Stephanie Plum (even though she just runs a coffee shop) and she is a strong female lead. There is always some kind of excitement you get about her private life too.

Bottom Line: This is a cute and funny series and I recommend it if you are looking for a lighter read with some mystery and action!

Love in a Nutshell by Janet Evanovich

Love in a Nutshell (Culhane Family #1)

I love Janet Evanovich so of course I had to try this. Love in a Nutshell is a considered romantic suspense. Plus, a book set in a brewery? Ok! I got in to this book instantly, and stayed entertained and invested throughout the whole mystery. I thought it was totally cute and you get a little bit of Evanovich’s quirkiness thrown in to the mix. This is a very light read but sometimes you need a palette cleanser, no?

Bottom Line: If you are looking for a quick and light palette cleanser, this is it! Also, I think most Evanovich fans would enjoy this. It was really cute and I was sad when it was over. I would love more of Kate and Matt!

Eleanor and Park by Rainbow Rowell

Eleanor and Park

I read Attachments and loved it. Fangirl was just ok for me. This book. Oh this book!!! This is the Rainbow Rowell I love! I devoured this book so fast. I had to know what was going on with Eleanor and Park!

Bottom Line: Just read it.

Miracle on 5th Avenue by Sarah Morgan

Miracle on 5th Avenue (From Manhattan with Love, #3)

This is the third book in the From Manhattan with Love series, but only the second I read. I missed the first one. I would say you could read this book as a stand alone without the first two if you are just looking for a Christmas love story! I really loved both Eva and Lucas in this book. I loved that their chemistry wasn’t always perfect and that they both had their own struggles. My absolute favorite line of the book?

“Prince Charming was a weird stalker guy with a foot fetish.”

Bottom Line: If you are looking for a cozy Christmas romance, then this book is for you! I found myself staying up late thinking just one more chapter…ok one more chapter…while reading this. And if I am missing sleep for a book? Then it is good!!

What to Expect When You’re Expecting by Heidi Murkoff

What to Expect When You're Expecting

I had Chris order me this book the day I told him I was pregnant. It seems like it is the “it book” for all expecting moms out there. What I liked is that I could read the book along with my pregnancy. Month by month to see what I should expect, what is going on with baby and development, etc. Anything you ever really wanted to know about pregnancy is in here. And that is also part of the problem. Every problem to raise your blood pressure and stress about is also in here!!! I have to be honest and say there were parts I skipped over because it is like reading WebMD and I felt like everything was wrong with me because I was reading about it.

Bottom Line: If you want allllll the nitty gritty about pregnancy, this is a great resource. Just don’t get too caught up in everything that can go wrong, because this book shares a lot of that.

Little Earthquakes by Jennifer Weiner

Little Earthquakes

This is my first book by this author, I have a few of hers on my to read list and thought I would start with this one since it was available from my library. I did this via audiobook and the author herself narrates it, so you get the characters exactly as how they are supposed to be…which I love! I really enjoyed the way the book switched back and forth being told from the different woman’s points of view. Since I am about to be a new mother, which is what brought these woman together, I felt like I could really relate to the story. The more I listened the more involved I became and I just really enjoyed this book! I loved how the lives of each of these woman was a little messy and completely realistic.

Bottom Line: This was just a really good, solid read that I enjoyed. Can’t wait to read more from this author.

Let’s Just Say It Wasn’t Pretty by Diane Keaton

Let's Just Say It Wasn't Pretty

Honestly, I got bored and didn’t end up finishing this book. Maybe I wasn’t in the mood for it? I don’t know. Makes me sad because I love Diane Keaton!

Read anything good lately?
