Friday Favorites

Hey there Friday! We have Zoe’s six month wellness visit today where she is expected to have another round of shots so send her all your hugs today. I think it might be harder on me than her. The look she gives me when she realizes I let these people hurt her breaks my heart in to a million pieces every time. Even though it is for her own good! What do you have going on this weekend? I am supposed to hang out with my mom and sister tomorrow for a little while. Can’t wait to see them!

Favorite Moments: My mom came over yesterday for a little while just to hang out and spend time with Zoe and I. It was the best! We just chatted and played with Zoe and it was so good for my soul. Of course, a visit with grandma never goes without a little spoiling of Zoe. She got her several new outfits and some golden books!

Zoe is at such a fun age right now and she has really been loving sitting up and exploring things from a new view. Her love for unicorns is seriously growing.

She has also learned how to open drawers. Lord help us!

I have been chatting with one of my friends from way back in the day, and we are hopefully going to meet up sometime this summer! We haven’t seen each other in years, gosh I want to say probably at least 10??? We met in high school, and she is the reason I went to University of West Georgia! She asked me if I had chosen a school yet and I told her I hadn’t and she said…well if you went to UWG then we could be roommates. DONE! I didn’t need to hear anything else, I didn’t even tour the school before I committed. Anyways, Shelley started a Chloe and Isabel Boutique and I wanted to share with you guys if you are looking for any jewelry. They have such fun stuff and I love seeing others thrive in their businesses. Check out Shelley’s shop and I can get you in contact with her if you have any questions. She is an amazing person!!! I may have to share some of our hilarious college stories some day.

Chloe and Isabel has some really gorgeous pieces. I have my eye on this….

Favorite Recipe: This Asian Chopped Chicken Salad recipe looks amazing, right??? Bonus for being Whole 30 approved! I am not officially doing Whole 30 Right now, but I am trying to stay mostly paleo during the week.

Empties

Loreal Voluminous Mascara

This is hands down my favorite drugstore mascara. I have tried so many and I always seem to come back to this one. It holds up to most of the higher end brands to be honest.

Bottom Line: I have and will repurchase

Garnier Whole Blends Cranberry Color Care Conditioner

You guys, this stuff smells AMAZING!!!! It has argan oil and cranberry in it and it is paraben free. For the price, you simply can’t beat it. I have a few shampoo and conditioners going in my shower at any one time and you will almost always see a bottle of this stuff. Love love love. My hair is soft, it is safe on color and the smell is the best thing ever. You don’t have to spend a lot of money to find good hair care options.

Bottom Line: I have and will repurchase

OGX Argan Oil of Morocco Body Wash

I have been on an OGX kick lately. I had the coconut one before this and I liked that one, but I like this one even better!!! I felt like this one was more hydrating and left my skin feeling softer. I really love the scent of this stuff too, just clean and neutral. It wasn’t trying to compete with my lotion or perfume which I appreciate.

Bottom Line: I will repurchase

TARTE MARACUJA CREASELESS CONCEALER

The fact that this has the word creaseless in the name of it makes me laugh and laugh. Creaseless this stuff is NOT. In fact, this has to be one of the worst creasing concealers I have ever used under my eyes. I wanted to like this stuff, I really did. I love Tarte but this was a huge dud for me. I have had it in my make up collection for at least two or three years and I am just throwing it out because my makeup looks better with no concealer than the cakey creasy of a mess this stuff makes.

Bottom Line: Never again. Love Tarte, but this was a huge dud.

FOREO Day Cleanser

I really loved this stuff. It smells amazing and it always left my face feeling soft and clean. Almost even a little glowy. I don’t really have anything bad to say about this product. I like to use it along with my Murad Time Release Acne Cleanser.

Bottom Line: I would repurchase this. The price isn’t too bad for a higher end brand for what you get.

Belli Skin Care

I had the hardest time with my skin when I was pregnant. Pregnancy glow is a joke. I was a mess. I had high hopes for the Belli brand that is made specifically for pregnant women. You didn’t have to worry about ingredients and it was tailored for your hormonal skin changes. There were so many good reviews I thought for sure this was a winner. Big dud for me. In fact, the face wash in the picture is not even close to being empty. It did nothing for me and I couldn’t stand the smell of it when I was pregnant. I opened it before I tossed it and the smell is alright, but that first and second trimester, I wasn’t having it.

Bottom Line: I would never try this stuff again, but I am not saying don’t get it if you are pregnant. It did have really good reviews and my skin is super finicky. It might work for you.

Avon Footworks Arthritis Achy Foot and Muscle Cream

I cannot tell you how old the bottle I had was? Probably years since the new one looks nothing like it, but I was cleaning out our drawers and found this and it only had enough left for maybe one time and the bottle was leaking. I loved this stuff. It actually worked well for my calf muscles that get super sore for no reason from time to time. I think Chris has used this stuff a few times too and liked it. It smells very very strong like Bengay. So if you aren’t ok with that smell, don’t get this! The smell lasts forever.

Bottom Line: Good, inexpensive option if you have sore feet and calves.

Have you tried any of these??

recipe

Green Eggs and Ham (Frittata)

Who doesn’t love a Dr Seuss themed breakfast??? So I have a confession to make. I have never made a frittata before. Can you believe it??? I actually hate eggs, but I don’t mind them so much when they are cooked in with other things. This was so easy and it turned out delicious!!! I plan to heat it up all week for Chris and I in the mornings as a grab and go breakfast.

What You Need

1 yellow onion, diced

4 green onions, diced

2 tbsp olive oil

2 tbsp butter

10 large eggs

1 package of Colby and Monterey Jack Cheese

1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1/4 to 1/2 tsp black pepper

6 ounce package (or 6 slices from deli) Applewood Smoked Ham

1 package of baby spinach

What You Do

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees
  2. Heat 1 tbsp olive oil and 1 tbsp butter in a large skillet, add yellow onion and green onion and cook for 5 minutes over medium heat.
  3. Add baby spinach and cook another 5 minutes, until wilted.
  4. Drain the onions and spinach in a colander and press out any addition water. (I used the spatula to do this.)
  5. In a large bowl, whisk the 10 eggs. Add in the ham, cheeses and black pepper. Then stir in the onion/spinach mix.
  6. Grease a baking dish with the remaining olive oil and melted butter. Pour mixture in and cook for 25-30 minutes. You want it to be slightly browned, puffed and set. I let it cool around 15 minutes on the counter before serving.
  7. Enjoy!!!!

weekend shenanigans

Weekend Shenanigans

Oh weekends, why must you be so short??? Why can’t a work hours go by as fast as a Saturday afternoon? These are the questions I ponder every Sunday evening as the clock strikes closer and closer to bedtime.

I had a fantastic Friday since my nephews stayed with Zoe and I all day. I got lots of work done, Zoe took her normal naps and the boys had some video game and down time while I worked. And then we took a break and played a game of Life. We had so much fun playing!!! Friday evening, we packed it up and headed to meet my sister for an early Mexican dinner at Mi Casita. It was delicious, as always.

Saturday during Zoe’s morning nap, I cut the front and side yard. It was so hot and so humid I thought I might just kill over a few times. Woof. I got it done though and was so proud of myself! During her afternoon nap I cleared out the remain “storage” type items that were sitting in my office so that I can finally start making it look like an office. You know, the one I have been working out of the last five months and ignoring the disaster that was everywhere.

After all that work, I figured I deserved a break so I played some Mario Kart on the Switch! I was determined to win a gold cup on each of the tracks and I so did. I unlocked tons of new car options. You know, life goals.

Saturday evening we met up with Chris’s parents at Crazy Horse, one of our favorite restaurants. You won’t find a better steak anywhere. We enjoyed catching up with them, and Zoe was glad to get out of the house for a little while.

Sunday was meal planning, grocery shopping and just laying low. I started reading Hello, Sunshine and got about 40% through the book and Zoe and I read about ten of her books too. Chris and I have been tearing through the newest season of House of Cards. Love that show.

And just like that, the weekend was over and it is back to reality. How was your weekend? Linking up with Biana. Let’s do this, Monday!

about me

Five on Friday

Oh hey there, June. What??? Seriously, someone please tell me how it is June?? Anyways, I am watching my nephews today. Crazy how the school year is over, right?? Zoe loves getting to spend time with her cousins! She got to see another one of her cousins at her grandmothers house earlier this week. It was really cute, because when we came home that night she kept pointing to his picture on the refrigerator. My sister and I also plan to see my mom tomorrow for lunch to celebrate Mother’s Day. She was at the beach that weekend and we haven’t gotten to see her since. Someone asked me how she was doing since her surgery on her shoulder, and she is doing well. She is in physical therapy right now and told me just the other day that she road her bike at the beach every night, so clearly she is feeling a little better! Other than that, I am not sure what else is on the agenda for this weekend. Definitely grass cutting at some point too. It is never ending over here. Since I just did an add it to your list and currently post this week, I wanted to share some moments and thoughts this Friday instead of doing favorites.

  1. Memorial Day was full of memories in more than one way. Zoe got her first taste of solids!!! We started on pureed sweet potatoes, but I plan to do a mix of purees and baby led weaning style foods. Zoe licked the spoon a few times and didn’t spit any out, so we are calling it a win. She still isn’t sure what to think about it though, we have tried twice since and she only had a few licks and is over it. She stares very contently at anything we are eating though. I think that is why baby led weaning is going to be the better option.

2. I am trying to get back on the healthy wagon. I don’t know why it has been such a struggle for me after having Zoe. I am sitting here 5 months postpartum and completely unhappy and disgusted with my body, and yet lack the motivation to do something about it. I haven’t been eating too terribly bad 100% if the time, but it hasn’t been good either. And the workouts. I just cant seem to make it a priority to fit them in right now. It will require me to wake up super early and get them done before Zoe wakes up. The problem is, I have an hour and a half window of her usual wake up time, so I need to wake up and get that work out in and be done before the earliest that she could be up. And that is really freaking early and mommy is tried from working full time and raising an infant. And life in general.

Having the Apple Watch has helped, because I make sure I at least hit my stand goals for the day. And I try to get at least 50% of my move goal and at least 10 minutes of an accelerated heart rate to be considered a “work out”, but I need to do better. Sooooo this is what my lunches have been looking like. I dont hate it.

What I am trying to say is, I need to make this a priority again and stop bitching about it in my head. So I am putting it out there today to hold myself accountable. Amy posted about doing a midyear reset of sorts yesterday and it was perfect to hear because it is where I am too. If anyone has any tips on how to squeeze a workout in to a jam packed day, let me know! My only option is to workout from home and I have weights and a step and a treadmill and I do YouTube workouts a lot. I need to whip Jillian back out and let her kick my ass too. Woof.

3. Snuggle time is my favorite time. While it can be super frustrating that Zoe fights her naps and sometimes sleep at night, that is when she gives her best snuggles.

4. Target has been killing it lately with their clothes, for both adults and kids. I shared the items I ordered during the dress sale this week. Which, memorial day they were offering an additional 20% off!!!  I went to a different Target near my office on Monday and scored some major deals on kids clearance! They grow like weeds and I feel like every two or three months I am on the search to complete the next size up for her wardrobe. I like to do it all on clearance if I can! How cute is that mermaid rash guard swimsuit? She has an red/white/blue anchor swimsuit in a smaller size to wear at the beach too. Cant wait to see those on!

5. People are always commenting on how Zoe looks just like Chris. Which she does. But my mom reminded me this week that she does look very similar to me at that age too. I think she might be on to something….

What do you have planned for this weekend?
