It has been awhile since we had an installment of Sh!t Chris Says!!! Mainly because I am laughing too hard to actually remember to make a note of the gold material he produces. And also because some of the shit he says I cant share here in fear that you all would judge me for my life choices. Haha!
–We are watching a show and Chris puts his hands up to his mouth and makes a long, weird sound.
Me: WTF was that????
Chris: It’s the douchenado siren
–I grabbed two bottles of men’s scented anti-bacterial soap on clearance at Bath and Body Works. I come out to the car where Chris is waiting…
Me: Here I got you some anti-bac soap to keep in your car. It was on sale for 44 cents!!!
Chris: Awesome, thanks.
Chris proceeds to open it and use some…
Chris: What is this scent?? It smells like I jacked off a 1994 Structure Model.
–A car flies past us on the interstate going at least 100 miles per hour.
Chris: Was that Mr Spacely?
(That’s a Jetson’s reference for those of you too young to have watched the show!)
–We are watching an episode of PLL…
Chris: WTF just happened??
I explain what I think just went down. (Don’t want to have any spoilers if you haven’t seen the last episode yet!!!)
Chris: Oh ok. I was waiting on Scooby Doo and the Mystery Machine to solve the mystery.
Oh allergies!!! Spring is in full force down south, regardless of the fact that we had a frost warning last night. Allergies are running fierce!
Friday night I came home to all sorts of Easter surprises on our mantle!
Chris is so sweet! I love how he got me Hello Kitty and Puppy coloring books instead of adult ones. Does he know me or what? Chris had his friend over and we streamed the Ultra Music Festival on the projector screen. I didn’t hang down there for all of it, but I definitely caught Alison Wonderland!
And had the dinner of champions.
Chris surprised me with a 6 pack of the Best Damn Cherry Cola. I was really excited, but it wasn’t as great as you would think. It wasn’t awful…but just meh. I might try it has a hard cola float next weekend!
Saturday morning was spent cleaning and doing laundry. I made the sweet potato hash for breakfast, then we hunkered down with the dogs for the rest of the day and caught up on our TV shows and I went ahead and did our grocery shopping so that I could get the stuff to make pork medallions for dinner!!! One of our most favorite cheat meals!
Sunday morning was the passage into the spring in summer down south with the start of grass cutting season. We weren’t the only ones, at least two other people in our neighborhood had the same idea and were out there at the same time. I also got a pot of homemade sauce on for spaghetti! Sliced up some thick pepperoni to go in it!
And made a meat and cheese plate while we watched Making a Murder.
Glad we finally got to start that show. It was very interesting, and frustrating. What is up with that nephew?? So many thoughts!!!
I also read a book between Saturday morning and Sunday morning, The Power of Broke and colored about 10 pages in the Hello Kitty coloring book. No shame in my coloring game!
Linking up with Biana. I hope you all had a great weekend!
Sometimes it is nice to read a book that inspires you. One that really gets you thinking. One that shares stories of people that give everything they have for their dream and come out winning on the other side. For me, that is The Power of Broke.
I won’t lie, this book initially stood out to me because it was written by Daymond John. Maybe you have heard of him? He is the founder of FUBU and “the peoples man” on Shark Tank. I love Shark Tank!!!
When I read the synopsis for the book, I thought that maybe it would inspire me. And it did! I love the way the book was written. Daymond starts out with his own history, how he grew up with a single mom and had a dream of catering his fashion sense to people in his neighborhood. He took that dream and made it a realty. Daymond claims that when you have nothing, no financial means…it forces you to be more creative.
Several chapters in the book were dedicated to different people who worked hard and now have amazing, thriving businesses. He speaks with:
DJ Aoki
Acacia Brinley-social media and the queen of selfies
Rob Dyrdek-skate boarde/realty tv
Christopher Gray -founded company that helps students find grant money, was on Shark Tank)
Gigi Butler -Gigi Cupcakes
Jay Abraham -marketing guru
Kevin Plank -founder of Under Armour
Moziah Bridges -founder of Mo’s Bows, was on Shark Tank
Tim Ferris -author of 4 hour work week
Josh Peck -actor
Linda Johansen-James -entrepreneur
Ryan Deiss-digital marketer
Loren Ridinger-fashion
Mark Burnette -TV producer
At the end of each of their chapters, there are Shark Points that review the highlights of the message. Also throughout the book there are Power Facts that are really interesting and inspiring.
Daymond shares wise tips like “rise and grind” and says instead of the power of broke is really that one reason you keep going.
If you are looking for some inspiration, or some interesting tales of entrepreneurs that had to work hard to get where they are…then this book is for you. If you are thinking about starting your own business, then this is for you.
Favorite Song: Fire In My Bones by Fleurie – So awesome and chill. Roll down those windows and feel the sun on your skin with this one.
Favorite Moments:
–Tracy sent me a video of my kindergarten nephew counting by fives from 5 to 100. He did perfectly and all I could think the whole time was man, that kid sure does sound country with his fives!!! Then when he got to 100, he smiled real big and goes “BAM!!!!!!!!!” I must have replayed that about 10 times to hear him say BAM! Yup, he’s my nephew. There is no doubt!!!
—Laura and I had an impromptu lunch on Wednesday to check out Homewood’s latest addition, Holler and Dash! It was delicious!!! I ordered the Kickback Chicken which was fried chicken on a biscuit with goat cheese, pepper jelly and green onions. Laura and I split an order of beignets because BEIGNETS! They came with coffee syrup which was scrumptious!!! They also offer craft sodas that they make right there in front of you. I ordered the Strawberry Lemongrass and it was amazing!!!!!!! We will be back for sure! We will have a full review up on Besties do Bham soon. And if you want to follow that account on Instagram to see all of the food porn, then here it is! In the meantime here is my meal.
Faavorite Recipe: I made this sweet potato shepherds pie Wednesday night and it was delicious!!! I didn’t have tomato paste on hand so I squirted ketchup in it instead. And I hate cauliflower so we completely omitted that. Also, my cinnamon container was jammed and I shook hard and way too much came out…and this still turned out amazing!!!
Favorite Lust:
These Elani Gladiator Sandals from Target!!! Cognac and black would be perfect, thanks! This week their shoes are buy one get one 50% off so stock up!!! I tried these on last week and they were super comfy. The back ankle thing didn’t bother me at all, unlike most of this style that I try on. They are a total need, right????
–Check out the “perfect house” that compiles the most popular rooms on Pinterest. Yup, I am moving in!!!
–Mules are all the rage this spring. LC has a list of 10 that you will be craving. The jury is still out for me on most of these.
–Have you decided who you are voting for yet? Let’s be honest, it is hard to keep the candidates views on things straight with all the bickering among them. Let’s just say I was shocked to see who I line up with the most. Take the quiz here and it is worth it to answer the extra questions in the categories because it changed my results.
hey, hey, hey! it’s wednesday so we know what that means!
We gotta change up the man candy from time to time, you know what I mean. So let’s get to confessing all of the things!
–I had a genius idea for a confessions post this week. It came to me when I was walking from the kitchen to the bedroom to get ready for work one morning. I thought to myself “Oh I should write this down.” Then I thought “Nah this is so good, I wont forget.” Guess what, I forgot. Like we are talking have no clue even remotely what it had to do with. #oldfartbrain
–On Monday morning I left early for work because I really wanted to get the rest of a project done and start the week off right. Everything was going fine until I merged on to I-20 and traffic was backed the fuck up for miles. Ughhhh. Why is this a weekly occurrence??? Accidents happen, but damn! I sat there and watched cars, once again, pass all of us on the shoulder and I started to really lose my shit. I literally screamed at the top of my lungs in my car for about a minute straight. It took me an hour and 28 minutes to get to the office. I just….I cant. And the reason why I am confessiong this is that I let it ruin my day. The rest of the day I was in a rancid mood. #fucktraffic #whodothesepeoplethinktheyare
–Have you ever been starving but literally in the mood for nothing? That was me on Saturday. We ended up eating cheap Mexican because neither of us were feeling anything and you can’t go wrong with Mexican. It was raining and no one has time to drive downtown in that nasty weather. #indecisive
–Speaking of food confessions, I souped myself out. I have literally had some version soup/chili for lunch nearly every week since like November. This week I sat and tried to think what I wanted instead and couldn’t come up with much. I hate heating meat up in a microwave so my options are limited. What’s your favorite thing for lunch? And I don’t want to hear salad. I eat enough of those for dinners! I try to remain mostly paleo during the week so its hard. #lunchrut
–I stopped at Dunkin Donuts on Friday on my way to work for an everything bagel with cream cheese because one of my ahole bros who I wont call out right now (girlfriend knows who she is) simply stated that she had a bagel for breakfast and that was all I could think about. I hadn’t had a bagel in forever. I would love to say that it was awful and I couldn’t finish it, but I don’t lie. #butcarbs
