And just like that, the middle of April has come and gone! Tax Day is here. I just have a few questions…
And not to mention the millions of worthless people who are sitting on their asses at home riding out the system not even trying to get a job because “they can make more money not having one.” Why can’t we claim all of them? Don’t even get me started.
This weekend just flew right on by, as they always do. We had a special visitor at lunch club on Friday, Laura’s baby boo! It was so fun! We ate at PT’s in Homewood. Nachos were obviously devoured. I had a sensible salad and cup of chili as my entree to balance them out 😉
Friday night I read some of my book and watched lots of Fixer Upper. It was fabulous.
Saturday morning I cleaned the house and then my mom came and got me and we went shopping for a few hours. Check out the fun things I grabbed at Nordstrom Rack! Sock liners for my Chucks, they work perfect. And the smaller sized Urban Decay shadow primer which was only $5.97. It runs $12 at Sephora. Score!!!
I then met up with Chris and his family to celebrate my SIL’s birthday at Konomi! I always eat way too much at Hibachi!
Sunday was spent meal planning, grocery shopping, prepping and catching up with all of our shows. We started the second season of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and we also checked out The Ranch. Have you seen The Ranch yet? It isn’t mind blowing by any means, but I like it.
I hope you all had a fabulous weekend! Linking up with Biana.
Favorite Song: This time I took a song from Lucifer. I know I have heard it before, but sort of forgot about it. Talking Body by Tove Lo. Do you watch Lucifer? It is a pretty good show and I love the music! The original paramedic from Chicago Fire is one of the lead characters.
Favorite Recipe: I first saw this recipe on Biana’s blog about a year ago. I have made it so many times that I don’t even need to look at the recipe to write up the shopping list or make the dish. Delicious!!!! I make brown “fried rice” to go with it and it is one of our favorites. We had it again this week.
Favorite Workout:Those inner thighs are a tricky spot, right? Try this!
Favorite Delivery: I won Amanda’s Shopbop giveaway last week and I got right to ordering these super awesome Chuck Taylors!!! I have been wanting them for months so thanks Amanda for the giveaway!!!
Favorite Lust: I saw these standing planters at Target last weekend, how cute are they?! I have got to get around to getting some plants in our house and a little herb garden too.
Kelli posted her Four Things and she said we could steal it from her, so here we go!
Four names I go by
1.Nadine
2. Nadine
3.Nadine
4.Nadine
Ha! I don’t really have any nicknames. My grandmother used to call me Deenie but she passed away when I was in high school so that nickname has been retired. A few friends in high school, and my old boss at my first job called me Nay-Nay but that name has since been retired as well.
–I can’t stand gum smackers. There is a new person that sits in a cube near me and she is a smacker. One day it was driving me insane!!! To the point that my skin was crawling. We have Skype Messenger at work, and I messaged my co-worker and asked if he could hear it to. He said, “No, but now that you pointed it out to me I can and it is going to drive me crazy!!!” A few minutes go by and he messages me back and says, “You know, I blame you more than I blame her.” Haha. #oops #stopsmacking
–I keep forgetting that I have Snapchat. Sometimes I will go a week in between opening the app. Sorry. I am old, it is hard to keep up with all this social media!
–Once I have something in my head for lunch, I am all set. If that location changes, nothing sounds good to me. We were supposed to have lunch with my sister on Sunday at this little hole in the wall near my house. Well, Chris looks up the menu Sunday morning and says “Ummmm they are closed Sundays.” Well shit! These people are from Philly and have a legit Whiz sandwich where they fly ingredients from Philly three days a week. They also have Philly style pizza, but that is neither here not there. I wanted my damn whiz sandwich and nothing sounded good the rest of the day. Not even Mexican. So you KNOW I was serious!!! #iwantwhatiwant
–On Monday I had baked beans for breakfast. Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. #itwasdelicious
–If I had a dime for every time I grabbed my cell phone to do something but got distracted by a notification and forgot the reason why I was on my phone in the first place just to do it all again….I would be a rich, rich woman. #ADD

After reading Me Before You, I had all the feels and couldn’t wait to get going on After You. I read some reviews that people were disappointed in After You, but I wasn’t. I went in with zero expectations because I knew it couldn’t be just like the first book. There were a few twists and I loved all the new characters that were introduced. Plus, I loved that you knew what you were getting with Trina and Lou’s parents.
Bottom Line: If you enjoyed Me Before You, I would certainly give this a go. You get some closure. I really suggest just going in not expecting anything so that you can just enjoy where the story leads. Don’t compare it to Me Before You.
This was a really quick read, but informative if you are interested in safer cleaning products for your home. Not only does this book provide tips and recipes for products that you can make at home, it gave you tips on how to keep your house clean in general. There were some great tips on working room by room, what to clean, what to use, how to manage your time, etc. There were some organization tips, purging tips, a little mix of everything.
Bottom Line: Great quick read if you are looking for natural cleaning basics. All the recipes are non-toxic alternatives and look simple to make.
The Naked Men is actually a blog written by a group of guys that covers all sorts of topics in a guys life. The group started it as a way to communicate openly with each other through letters/email and it morphed in to the blog for all guys around the world to relate to. So obviously I was instantly drawn to that aspect of the book since I am a blogger! I enjoyed reading about the tragic incidents in both Griffin and Chloe’s lives. I wish that the author wrote the whole book the way that she described those events. I felt like the book really fell flat for me in the characters. There was too much writing about what was going on in their heads (the same things over and over) and not enough development of things that actually mattered. There was too much focus on Chloe’s virginity at 27. Who cares about that? I want something more in depth!
Bottom Line: If you are looking for a fluffy romance novel with decent love story and a HEA, then this is worth the read. It wasn’t mind blowing or amazing, but it passed the time just fine.

So, I finished this book in two days. That is really fast for me! I literally spent most of Saturday reading it. I had to know what was going to happen! Aubrey’s husband disappears one evening and Aubrey is now the number one suspect. Five years later, after a trial and lots of struggle for Aubrey, her husband is declared dead by the state of Tennessee by the request of her mother-in-law who never liked her. Aubrey is trying to get her life together and meets a man that reminds her very much of her husband. She is not the only one who thinks this! But Aubrey still wants answers to what happened to Josh.
While reading this book, I had a few suspicions of what was going to happen but I was wrong. So very wrong!!! So I really appreciated the twists that kept me trying to guess what was going on. Aubrey is a complex, dark character. I found her interesting. When I got to the last chapter I was like ummmm what????? I am not sure I like how the book ended 100% but I can appreciate that it wasn’t wrapped in a perfect bow.
Bottom Line: If you like reading about mysteries, dark characters or plot twists…then this book is for you! I enjoyed it, even though I wasn’t 100% sold on the ending.

I haven’t started a book since No One Knows, but I plan to hopefully do that tomorrow. Not sure what that will be. Have you read any good books lately?
