–Getting to hear baby girl’s heart beat on Tuesday at my 32 week appointment. EIGHT WEEKS LEFT YOU GUYS! The doctor said that she is measuring perfect and my blood pressure looked really good. Yay! That heartbeat sound. That is something I could listen to forever. Coolest thing ever!

–Lunch with Laura yesterday at Rowe’s in Avondale. I just love this spot for lunch. I got the cheese steak sandwich and fries and it was delicious!!! Getting out of the office felt good, as did girls lunch!

–My sister and BIL are seriously the best people ever. My BIL got me some gray paint samples and my sister met me with them last night so I could test them out and chose a color. Tomorrow she is going to bring me the paint and come help knock those blue walls away with some real gray. I know they have better things to do (I mean they have four kids!!!!) so I really appreciate this!!

Favorite Recipe: These Whole 30/Paleo friendly Loaded Chili Sweet Potato Fries look AMAZING!!!! It will be recipes like these that will get me through the hard months after pregnancy when I need to chill out on food but still want all the yummy flavors! And these look so dang good I might have to get started on some now too.

Paleo and Whole30 friendly loaded chili sweet potato fries with savory chili, bacon, ranch sauce, avocado and fried eggs!:

Favorite Treat: I don’t like a lot of the pumpkin flavored things that come out in the fall. I am all about a good PSL or some pumpkin ice cream or whatever but most things sound gross to me. I was skeptical of the pumpkin spice oreos when I heard people talking about them but then I realized they were golden oreos. Um these are freaking delicious.

Favorite Beauty Find: I needed a new chapstick for my purse with the dryer days we are having. I happened upon Lipsmackers, something I haven’t used in quite awhile. How adorable are these little characters??? And in marshmallow? Yes, please! They had a blueberry character and a winnie the pooh honey pot one as well!

–Alyssa has an awesome blogging challenge going on for the next five weeks. Go check out her post here to see how it works. The prompts are seriously getting my wheels turning, some of them are deep!

–Lindsay just gets me sometimes. Ok, most of the time! Her post on doing what makes you happy seems obvious but I think we have all been there. When you were afraid to tell people you had a blog. Or maybe you are embarrassed that you have read 50 books already this year. Why you would be ashamed of either of those things I don’t know? But let your freak flags show! I will never waste a second of my life pretending I am something I am not.

Reading: Small Great Things – This book is taking me a long time to get through. Not because it isn’t good…because it is. It is just one of those books that you read a little slower and think about things. I am hoping to have it done for the link up next week!

Small Great Things

Listening: I just finished an audiobook on Monday night so I am trying to catch up on some podcasts that I haven’t listened to in over a month. Being Boss and The Pregnancy Podcast are what’s on deck. I am several episodes behind on each.

Watching: All the fall TV! Our shows are back on and even more come back in the next week or two. We watch The Big Bang Theory, Blind Spot, This is Us, Grey’s Anatomy, Law and Order SVU, Chicago Fire, Chicago PD, Chicago Med, Lucifer, South Park, Vampire Diaries, The Originals, New Girl and Shark Tank.  Also, we watch a lot of Friends reruns before we go to bed at night. I have watched all the Fixer Uppers, House Hunters, and Love It or List It on Netflix and am now working my way through Property Brothers. I might have a TV problem.

Quoting:

Don't be afraid to move forward.

Pinning: Everything! I am in full nesting mode over here and the house needs to be perfect and my closet could use a revamp and I need to learn how to do hair because I am going to have a girl and lots of recipes of healthier items to inspire myself after baby gets here.

Slow Cooker Pot Roast with Potatoes: easy and delicious. Smelt so good while cooking. Next time I would be sure to use a less lean cut of roast as it wasn't as tender as it could have been, but it was still yummy. The leftover juices make a lovely gravy.:

Pregnancy: You guys, we are in single digit weeks now!!! As of tomorrow, I will have eight weeks left. How that is even possible is beyond me! I am certainly feeling more pregnant these days. It is to the point where I am uncomfortable more often than not and the back and hip pain is real. Now I understand why pregnant woman waddle. It isn’t exactly the weight, but more your hips hurt so damn bad you are lucky to be moving at all! I am thankful for my bursts of energy that I get though, no matter how short lived they may be. And my incessant need to get shit done has been wonderful on the to do list! I have just been soaking up every last minute of our little family of two plus Mac right now and super excited to meet our little girl! She is already so loved.

Excited: I am excited for some football, we are really getting in to the heart of the season with the conference games. My baby shower is next weekend!!!

confessions

Confessions

It is time for those monthly confessions!!!

–I hate talking politics. If I am being  honest, I can’t stand either Trump or Clinton. But what I am going to say is this…When there is a debate or something going on, can we all agree to just focus on the issues and facts?? Can we please stop talking about what Clinton is wearing, or how her clothes fit, or if she smiled or not, or if she seems like she is in a bad mood or whatever else the fuck society is being shallow about. This isn’t a fashion show it is the run for presidency. I can’t stand how a woman cant be upset about something without someone making a comment about how she must be on her period. Or when you stand up for yourself, the first response is oh did you talk to someone about this. No asshole, I am capable of having my own opinion and speaking out about it.

–I am at that point in my pregnancy where it is obvious that I am pregnant AF  and I have all these random people coming up to me and asking me when the baby is due, what it is, what her name is, asking if they can touch my belly, whatever. I get uncomfortable sometimes because I am like…I don’t know you. Pregnancy is a weird thing at times. It is like you lose your rights to personal space and privacy.

–I am struggling between I don’t want to gain any more weight than necessary to keep the baby healthy and eat all the things because I am pregnant and I can. I will let you guess which side I let win more often than not.

–Sometimes I look at the notes I wrote for myself on my phone and I have no clue what they actually mean. Clearly I thought it was important to make a note about it, but why didn’t I go in to more detail??

–When my SEO widget tells me that the readability of my post needs improvement I get defensive. You don’t know me. I can read my post just fine, thanks.

weekend shenanigans

Weekend Shenanigans – First of October

Oh, hey there October!!! It is complete insanity to me that we woke up to Saturday to October 1st. I don’t even know how it is possible that this year is ten months in. Time is just flying. I cam to the realization this weekend that we have eight more baby free weekends left. What?? Well, that is assuming that she decides to come on or before my due date. Both excitement and panic came with that thought. I am so excited to finally meet her but I have a lot of stuff I need to get done around the house before then!

Speaking of getting stuff done, that was the name of my game this weekend! Friday night I came home, made a salad and relaxed for a little while because this past week was exhausting. All of a sudden the baby has me craving salads. Finally. I wasn’t mad about it.

img_0089

Saturday morning I did the usual cleaning and Chris put together the crib!!! He seriously had this thing together in about 15 minutes, I was impressed.

img_0112

Meanwhile, pay no attention to the wall color behind you. The more and more this paint dried, the more and more it looked light blue instead of gray. I am so pissed. Chris said that it looked blue to him the night we painted in there and I didn’t want to believe it but he is right. I don’t want a blue baby girl nursery, damnit. We are thinking about painting that damn room again. UGH! Lesson learned? Gray is a tricky ass color and next time I need to just consult with my BIL who is an expert in all things paint.

After all that cleaning and building, we decided to head downtown while we still have carefree weekends left! We visited an old friend, World of Beer. I ordered a non-alcoholic craft root beer and snacked on Tavern Taters while we watched some of the Georgia vs Tennessee game (ughhhhh what an ending right????) and the Auburn game.

Then we decided to head to Pies and Pints to visit a friend who was working there and it was their soft opening. This place is awesome and I cant wait to go back and try their pizza. I ordered a salad and Chris had wings. We sat out on the patio and caught the first half of the Alabama game.

Sunday morning we were up and out the door early to meet my dad and sister at Cracker Barrel for breakfast. We celebrated my dads birthday and I had a hot chocolate, hashbrown casserole, cinnamon apples, bacon and biscuits because yummmm.

img_0107

img_0108

We had a great time visiting with my family. Cracker Barrel seriously has the cutest stuff in their stores! And so many baby things!! They even had a few cute boutique looking clothing items I wouldn’t mind picking up. We left from there fat and happy and headed to the grocery store to get that knocked out. When we got home, I meal prepped and then started gathering stuff to give to my sister to sale in her yard sale in two weeks. I had to stack it all in the nursery for now because I don’t know where else to put it.

img_0113

Most of this stuff came out of the other spare room which has been on my list to clean out forever so I felt super accomplished to have gotten such a start on it. That room is so overwhelming because everything piles up in there when it doesn’t have anywhere else to go and I want to make that room an office space for me so I need it all to go! I hope to have doubled that pile by next weekend!

The rest of Sunday was spent catching up on our TV shows and I got a few chapters of a book read. It’s hard to want to get anything done when you have a furry little man sitting in your lap begging for pets. Does Mac know how to spend a weekend or what?

Favorite Song: When is the last time you heard this one?

Favorite Moments:

–On Tuesday night, my nieces cheerleading squad had a fundraising event at Chick Fila so I stopped by for a few minutes after work to support the cause and got to see all the kiddos, my sister, BIL and dad for a few minutes.

–Laura and I had a lot of fun at the sneak preview of the Southern Women’s Show on Wednesday.

–The same niece as above was nominated to the homecoming court this year! Annnnnd my oldest nephew was inducted to the BETA Club at school because he is a genius!!! Proud aunt over here.

Favorite Recipe: I love cranberries and this white cheddar cranberry dip looks bomb.

Everyone loves an ooey, gooey, cheesy dip! Cranberries give this one a Thanksgiving bent. Get the recipe at Little Broken.:

Favorite Pruchase: This is going to sound totally weird and random, but I ran out of my face wash and I wasn’t completely in love with the idea of purchasing the same one just because it isn’t really doing anything for me. It wasn’t making things worse, but it wasn’t make things better either. A long time ago…like we are talking college days…I used to use the White Beauty Bar from Dove on my face. I know it sounds crazy but it is cheap and really effective. I figured, what do I have to lose?! Ummm my skin hasn’t looked this good my entire pregnancy until this week after using it. And it was like $3 for two bars. And I forgot how incredible it smells! This bar bar paired with the Caudalie Grape Water and Moisturizing Sorbet I shared last week is a perfect combo.

Favorite Lust: I think I want a good poncho sweater or two. Something I can wear now, and then hide under after baby until I get back to normal. I am just afraid they are going to look dumb on me. I will have to try a few on. This one from Old Navy is a good deal.

Or this

I love this look!
