Weird foods I eat (or, stuff that most people find disgusting)
Linking up with Kristen to share what I have been up to currently. I realized reading over this post this morning that I was sort of whiny towards the end of it. The past few weeks have been really rough at work and clearly it has changed my entire mood. I deleted some of my ranting for everyone’s sake. I think I need a large bottle of wine and some retail therapy to calm me down this weekend.
Reading: I am about half way through The Family Next Door and I really hope to have it finished before the next book link up. I am enjoying it so far. It sort of reminds me of Big Little Lies in a way.
Listening: I am still on an audiobook kick! Right now I am listening to The Hating Game during my commute and I am obsessed! This might be one of my favorites so far this year. I have LOL’d on more than one occasion.
Watching: All the shows! I am really in to The Resident and 9-1-1 still. A lot of shows will be having season finales soon, can you believe it is that time already?? I want to watch Rosanne, has anyone checked it out yet? I used to love the show when it originally aired. Trading Spaces is coming back! That was the original design show and I might check it out too.
Reminiscing: Zoe turned 16 months old yesterday. I dont even know how that is possible???? One of the class aids from her infant class was holding a tiny baby when we walked in and as I was struggling with a wiggly, 22 pound Zoe who just wanted to get down and walk and I thought….how was she ever that tiny???
Wearing: One confusing wardrobe! Monday I had on a dress, Tuesday I wore cropped dress pants and a short sleeve shirt, yesterday I was in a bomber jacket with jeans, last night it dropped in the 30s but it is supposed to be 70 today. How are you even supposed to dress accordingly? Get it together Alabama!
Planning: I need to plan a time to paint the guest bedroom. Maybe this weekend or next. The problem is, I need to find somewhere to put all the extra stuff that is being stored in there! We also have a few more things to do around the house to get it ready to list. I de-cluttered some of the living room this past weekend so I can at least cross that off. Oh and the grass. Ugh. Tis the season to start cutting grass every weekend!
Annoyed: I am not sure why, perhaps a combination of the stress from work, stress of getting all the things done, eating sugar with the Easter candy and cookies, or who knows what…but my face is breaking out again. I haven’t changed anything in my arsenal to cause this…so I know it is a lifestyle change that I need to make. Anyone have any tips on clearing up stress zits? Damn they suck.
Hey there April!!! I hope you all had a wonderful Easter! This weekend went by so quickly, I am not even sure how it is Monday already. Yet, here we are. This weekend was full of snuggles, Easter activities, seeing family, eating lots of cookies and candy, snapping some spring photos of Zoe and cleaning up around the house.
My sister came over to visit us Friday morning and brought Zoe a huge umbrella full of Easter clothes, shoes and some toys too. She spoils Zoe with all the things!
Saturday morning my mom came over to spend some time with us. We haven’t seen her since Christmas, so it was nice to just sit with her and get to talk. She brought Zoe some really cute spring/summer outfits. While she was there, we baked some sugar cookies with Zoe! My mom passed her epic recipe down to me, and I had made the dough up the night before and decided to share in the joy that is decorating with Zoe. She had a BLAST!!! It was special sharing that moment with my mom.
We had made a Sam’s club run before my mom came over and purchased some new shelving for our living room to clean up all the toys. Step on in operation stage the home. I am still working on cleaning and decorating it, but look how much better it is already!
We ended up staying home on Sunday. The Easter bunny spoiled Zoe with lots of fun things. She was so cute taking each item out, one at a time.
Zoe was in a really good mood after she woke up from her afternoon nap and we were able to get a quick spring photo shoot.
We also tested out her new bubble gun.
And just like that, we are back to reality. So harsh, right??? I am linking up with Biana for my weekend, and also Andrea for TBB Asks. Who doesn’t love a good spring Q&A? Happy Birthday to Andrea!!!!
1. What 3 colors remind you most of Spring?
Yellow, lavender and light pink
2. What is the first thing you’d add to your wardrobe in Spring?
sandals and dresses-my spring/summer uniform
3. What is the first wardrobe item you ditch in Spring?
boots
4. Who mows the grass where you live?
I do. It is a beast of a yard to take care of and SUCH a good work out! I don’t mind it most of the time.
5. What’s Spring Like where you live?
Green and hottttt. And by green, I mean covered in pollen. We have a few nice weeks and then its basically summer.
6. What’s Your favorite thing about Spring?
The nice temperatures before it gets too hot and the beautiful flowers that bloom.
7. Are you a Spring Cleaner?
Sort of. I do a big purge every season.
8. Are you a Baseball Fan?
Ugh, I hate baseball. It is so boring!
9. Tulips or Daffodils
Tulips!!! Tulips are one of my absolute favorite flowers.
10. Favorite Outdoor Spring Activity?
Patio day drinking.
11. Flowers in the Ground or in Pots?
I am a horrible gardener, so I have neither but think all flowers are beauitful. I would like to be able to care for some eventually!
12. Favorite Bird?
I hate birds, they creep me out. Haven’t you ever seen the movie Birds??? Just no.
13. Car Wash or Wash Vehicles at Home?
I used to only wash my car at home. I had all the stuff and could physically do it so why not? Now, I just don’t have the time for that shit. My car gets washed once, maybe twice a year. And even taking it somewhere is such a pain. Who has time to wait???
14. When Do You pull out Your sandals?
Easter, sometimes sooner depending on the weather and how later Easter happens.
I am hoping that March takes it’s business with her when she leaves. I feel like I am a sinking ship lately. The house is a mess, I am literally behind on all the things, and every time I cross one thing off at work, two more drop in it’s place. Also, allergies. If you dont know what the entire state looks like covered in pollen, take a trip down south in the spring. I have been living down here for 20 years now, and I am still shocked every spring when everything has a yellow/green coating of nasty on it for two months straight. There isn’t enough Clariton or nasal spray in the world to make you feel better. And that sentence made me realize something. It really has been 20 years since we moved to the south. Do you know how old that sounds that I can say, oh it’s been 20 years since….and I am not talking about being in elementary school?! LOL.
Anyways, you guys it is Easter weekend! The schools here have been on spring break this week. I can FINALLY pull out my sandals and flip flops and start wearing them on Sunday. I try to wait until Easter to deem them appropriate for work. Zoe’s daycare is closed today and my office closes at 2pm, so I am going to work from home this morning. My sister is supposed to come over for a bit today, and I am supposed to see my mom tomorrow for a little while. Haven’t seen her since Christmas! We spend Easter with Chris’s family, so we will be over there Sunday. What do you have planned?
Favorite Moments: I ate at Farm Bowl TWICE this week. Those acai bowls are addicting and they make it so easy to just drop in and take one to go if you have errands to run.
Zoe’s daycare was closed yesterday too, so I worked from home and we had some craft time before her nap. She is so much fun at this age!!! We did some painting, and colored in a book. She has this fun game where I lay on the couch and she “sneaks up” behind me and I look all surprised that she is there. She laughs and laughs so hard and loud that she snorts and then I laugh too. She can play that game for like 10 minutes straight. She has started giving kisses and they are the sweetest little kisses ever. And she learned the word “uh oh” and basically repeated in the car the entire way home the other night. (Our drive is about 35 minutes from daycare to the house in the evenings, mind you.) It was the cutest thing and I would repeat her and we would both laugh.
She received her first Scholastic books on Monday!!! They had a book fair at her school a few weeks ago and I was so darn excited about it! Was it not your favorite day of the school year??? I think my favorite book from the stack is Shoe-La-La. It is so cute! I put them all aside to put in her Easter basket, so I cant wait til we start reading these. But of course, I read them all before I put them up because book nerd over here!
Favorite Purchase: Target has their t’s on sale for $5. Normally I would think, there is a reason they are $5. But no, seriously. I ordered a red and a white pocket v-neck with my Target card and it was less than $10 and they are amazing!!! It has been a long time since I have worn a plain tshirt. Normally they fit like garbage and I don’t feel comfortable. There is something about the material and the cut of these that rivals some of the $30 and $40 ones you can find at Nordstrom. Thanks Lindsay for talking me in to them!
I cant even believe it, my baby sister is going to be 30 tomorrow!!! She’d probably kill me for putting that out there on the internet, but like how old do I sound saying my baby sister is 30??? She is the best sister in the whole world and I am so so so so so thankful for her and the relationship that we have. I speak to her several times a week and if there is one family member that you can count on out of everyone, it is my sister. She is so incredible. And seeing her relationship bloom with Zoe is my favorite. Zoe will actually choose her over me sometimes, and that never happens with anyone other than Chris. So that is saying something. Tracy, if you are reading this post…I love you! Happy Birthday!
Speaking of age, you guys!!! Chris and I stopped at Publix this weekend to pick up a few things and we had beer. The cashier got to the beer, and I was messing with Zoe in the cart and had my face turned and I saw her looking at me out of the corner of my eye so I looked over and I was like oh, do you need my ID? And she was like yes, please! I grabbed it and gave it to her and she was like ummmm if you say so and looked all confused. I was like really?????? Most days I dont even have people ask for my ID. It’s something with my new hair, I dont know if it is the cut or color but I am thinking this is how I need to keep it! Made me feel so good, and young, walking out of there! Oh, and I barely had any makeup on. Just eye make up and BB cream.
Friday I met up with my two friends who still live in state from the Friday Lunch Club! It has been awhile since we were all together and it felt so good. I love those girls, they are truly amazing. We met up at Urban and I ordered the delicious Very Berry Salad with turkey. We vowed that we need to make it a more regular thing again.
Saturday I was up early and had the floors cleaned, counters wiped down and a load of laundry going before 630am. I also started a new book and managed to read a few chapters with my coffee before Zoe woke up. I love mornings like that. I felt so accomplished. Other than dishes and more laundry, it was all I really accomplished all weekend though lol. Saturday afternoon we headed over to Chris’s parents house and hung out with them for a little while. When we got home and got Zoe to bed, Chris and I hung out listening to the 90’s Nation on MTV Classic. Have you guys checked out that channel? Amazing!!!! I even poured myself an amaretto sour!
Sunday we hit up Target for our groceries for the week. They are doing $10 off a food purchase of $50 or more this week! I love when they do that! We came home and made homemade pizzas for lunch. Delicious! I kept myself in check and had a sensible spinach salad for dinner.
Linking up with Biana. I hope you guys have a great week!! Can’t believe Easter is next weekend!!!
