Friday Favorites

I had some really cute pictures of Mac and Zoe and some food that I wanted to share but I cant get my pictures to go from my phone to my computer for some reason today so they may have to wait until Monday! I never said technology and I were besties.

Favorite Moments:

–My sister watched Zoe for me Monday while I went to the office. She texted me a few pictures throughout the day and when I came home, all the bottles were washed, the kitchen was cleaned, the trash had been taken out, all of Zoe’s laundry was washed and put away and her room was clean. The diapers and wipes were completely stocked on the changing table and Zoe had a bath and was in her jammies. How awesome is my sister???? When I laid down that evening completely relaxed I thought to myself, this must be what it feels like to come home to me every day. LOL.

–Speaking of Monday, lunch with my co-workers was awesome. We caught up and I made the comment to them that I really just appreciated being able to eat an entire meal without it being cold or having to stop half way through. The little things, you know?

–We got a new sofa!!!! Chris found a really good deal yesterday and we decided to pull the trigger! I am not sold on our layout right now, so I haven’t taken any pictures yet but it is nice!!! Real leather and power recliners. It even has a built in USB charger! This was much needed!

Favorite Find: We needed some new shower gel a few weeks ago and I have gotten away from purchasing ones from Bath and Body Works. They smell amazing but they are full of chemicals and really do nothing for my skin. I found this Soap and Glory one at Target and not only does it smell amazing…but it has a built in moisturizer in it! Score!!!! The best thing? It is only $7.99 and I don’t have to buy a million at once to feel like I got my money worth! Oh and added bonus that it has a pump!

Favorite Lust: I puffy heart these blush shoes!

And these Dolce Vita ones too

Basically give me all the blush pink things!

recipe

Kickin Chicken

I couldn’t decide what to call this chicken, and then kickin chicken came to mind! Chris wanted some chicken tenders on Sunday, but wanted to keep them low carb. Sometimes it is hard to find tasty low carb options, you know? I looked through several recipes but none really stuck out to me, so I decided to take a few things I liked from each and throw something together! Enter Kickin Chicken! This turned out awesome and will be entering regular rotation! Plus it’s easy and quick! Just the way I like cooking during the week.

What You Need

1 package skinless chicken tenders (about one pound)

1/2 stick butter

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 tablespoon paprika

1 tablespoon oregano

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon pepper

1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper

What You Do

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Combine all your spices in one bowl.

Melt your butter in another bowl.

Dip the chicken tenders in the butter, then in the mix and place them on a tin foil covered baking sheet.

Cook for 30 minutest at 350 degrees.

Empties

I have a bag of empties I have been adding to for several months now. I thought maybe I was going to do a video with them, but I need to figure out how and where I want to film and all that so for now I am just going to break them up into several posts. When I say a bag, I mean it! I randomly grabbed six items out of it, so here we go!

Simple Sensitive Skin Facial Wipes – Of all the facial wipes I have tried, and trust me when I say I have tried them all, I think these are my favorite. They are on the cheaper side of all the wipes, easy to find and they are paraben free with no harsh chemicals. They work just as good as any of the others out there and I have repurchased them several times.

Lush Imperials Facial Moisturizer -I have enjoyed all the Lush products I have tried and I would recommend them if you are looking for more natural, cruelty free items. This moisturizer wasn’t enough for me in the winter (I have combination skin), but was a great spring/summer option. It was really awesome during my pregnancy when I had to be careful what ingredients I was using. It has a heavy lavender scent, so as long as you are ok with lavender you should be good to go. It is a very spa/natural lavender scent. I would repurchase this, but it isn’t my absolute favorite. Clinique Moisture Surge Intense is my holy grail moisturizer. Unfortunately it is not natural or cruelty free, but it is just what works best for me and my face is feeling amazing right now.

Mumsie Natural Skin Care Daily Facial Moisturizer – This item Laura gave me to try because she had received it after she had her baby and didn’t need mom friendly stuff. I enjoyed using this, but again it wasn’t moisturizing enough in the winter time. I didn’t have any adverse reactions to it, it wasn’t really scented so it was awesome when I was staying away from anything with scents that bothered me. I dont have any negative opinions about it and I used it up, but I probably wouldn’t repurchase it again. There was nothing “wow” about it, you feel me? I will say if you are pregnant and need something unscented, it is fairly inexpensive as far as moisturizers go.

Aveeno Ultra-Calming Foaming Cleanser – This stuff I have been buying for years and years. Chris and I both use this in the shower. It is always what I turn to if I use a product that upsets my skin, or I need a reset. It is inexpensive, easy to find, doesn’t have much of a scent and has never had a negative impact on my skin. I bet this was my 50th bottle of this stuff.

Pantene Pro-V Moisture Mist Detangler – You guys, my hair is fine. Baby fine. You know what happens to fine hair in the shower? It tangles like crazy and is a real bitch to brush out. Before I got a wet brush, this stuff was in my daily rotation. It was cheap, easy to find, smells amazing and worked like a charm. I still keep a bottle on hand for when I am at the beach or have real tangles, but the wetbrush is pretty effective these days. I have repurchased this stuff several times and it lasts a good while. I recommend it to anyone needing a detangler.

Acure Facial Cleansing Gel – When I was pregnant, I was looking for natural items that didn’t have ingredients that were dangerous to my baby. I cant tell you how many hours I spent researching ingredients and looking at labels in stores. This brand showed up several times in my search so I thought, why not? You can find it at Target and it is cheap compared to some other stuff out there. But you guys?? The smell was just awful!!! I dont know if it was because I started using this early on in my pregnancy when I was overly sensitive to smells, but I cant even open the bottle now to tell you what it smells like because I will throw up from previous experience. I think the brand is great, and it didn’t have any adverse reactions on my skin but dont try it if you are sensitive to smells. Just no. I had gotten some shampoo by this brand it it was alright. Nothing special but good for natural ingredients if that is what you need. This was a did not finish for me.

Have you tried any of these things? Is there anything you want me to change about my next empties post? Format or other information? I have several I will do over the next few months so let me know what you think. Happy Tuesday!

weekend shenanigans

Weekend Shenanigans

Another weekend in the books! I had a good combination of staying in and going out this weekend. On Friday my Sephora order came in the mail. Hello Peach Palette!!! I have only used it twice, but the colors are so gorgeous!!! And the palette smells amazing. I highly recommend it! They were doing a Glam Glow deluxe sample for VIB members and I was so excited for the extra bonus. I will let you know my thoughts on those when I get around to using them.

Friday afternoon my mom stopped by for awhile to see Zoe and hang out with me. She spoiled Zoe with alllllll the things. New clothes, six Dr Seuss books and a bunny! Between her and my sister, Zoe really racked up this week!

You guys, did you know they make baby rompers??? I cant even get over how cute these are! They are 6 and 9 month sizes so it will be awhile until she can wear them, but I cant wait to see her in them!!!

Speaking of seeing her in adorable things, she has moved up to 3 month sized items and she got to sport Andrea’s adorable outfit yesterday!

Saturday morning I got some cleaning in while Zoe napped. We pretty much hung around the house all day, and Saturday evening I ran to Dollar General to pick up some noodles for spaghetti and our favorite Sweet Red wine from Spring Creek. Seriously you guys, I know there are about 10 Dollar Generals within a 15 mile radius of your house….do yourself a favor and grab a bottle of this!

Sunday, Zoe and I met up with Laura at Nordstrom Rack. Can you believe she had never been?!?!  I think I converted her. I learned that Laura and I are basically the same shopper with the same shopping habits and tastes in clothes. Not that this should have come as a surprise. I scored a mega deal on a pair of Asics!!! They were on clearance and an additional 25% off the lowest price!!! Then when I was at Target I scored an additional 25% off clearance work out gear!! I really needed some new things. Honestly, I needed new workout gear before I got pregnant but I made that stuff last through my pregnancy and finally got a few replacement pieces now. Hopefully that is the final motivation I need to get my ass back in shape.

All of the items you see pictured here was less than $80 total. Two tops, a pair of capris, two sports bras, running socks and shoes. The bargain shopper in me rejoices!!!

Sunday evening I created a new chicken recipe inspired by Chris’s low carb diet. No bread crumbs were harmed in the making of these baked chicken fingers. They were pretty tasty!!! A side of Parmesan asparagus never hurt anyone either!

I will share the recipe on the blog soon! And now I leave you with how I feel in the form of a Zoe picture…

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend!!!

Friday Favorites

Just two more weekends left this February! Such a short month, right? This week was a whirlwind of getting work things done during Zoe naps and trying to stay afloat. My new same old same old I suppose.

Favorite Moments: Chris surprised me with all my favorites on Valentine’s Day.

Speaking of Valentine’s, did you see my cute Valentine this year?? Those are leg warmers she is wearing!!!

Aunt Tracy came by yesterday and spoiled Zoe with Valentine’s Day presents. Cant wait to see her in these shorts this summer! 6-9 month clothing looks so much bigger than her 0-3 that she is still sporting.

The little beanies are extra special because they are named Tracy and Zoe!!! (Well, with the wrong spellings but who cares.) How freaking sweet are these???

The “Tracey” one even says “I’ll always come by you when you call.” Just like Aunt Tracy will do for Zoe. Ugh I die of the sweetness. Zoe was super excited to see her yesterday.

While Tracy was here, I noticed that Z seaks me out in a room when other people are holding her. I love it!!! And the way she looks at me when I have her. I have two pictures of her from the side looking and I seriously cant handle the sweetness of her gazing at me. Oh the love!!!

Favorite Recipe: I have made buffalo chicken in the crock pot plenty of times, but this recipe is slightly different and looks amazing.

Healthy Slow Cooker Buffalo Chicken Stuffed Sweet Potatoes. Our whole family loves this easy crock pot recipe! Perfect football food for game day and tailgates too. {whole 30, paleo} Recipe at http://wellplated.com | /wellplated/:

Favorite Beauty Find: I picked up a travel size of this on a whim awhile back at Target and am IN LOVE with it!!! First of all, it smells amazing. I was so not expecting that. Secondly? My face feels amazing after using it for two weeks. This will 100% be a repurchase staple for me. It has the tiniest amount of exfoliate in it without being harsh.

Favorite Lust: I want a few easy pieces that could be for lounging but you would look put together if you needed to run a few errands. I love this whole look and the top is on sale!
