weekend shenanigans

Weekend Shenanigans

Oh, hey there!!! I am still trying to catch up from last week with commenting and all that jazz, so bare with me. Monday sure did sneak up, didn’t it? I feel like I still need one more day of the weekend!

As you (probably) know, I was in Orlando most of last week for a work trip. They put us up at the brand new Four Seasons resort at Walt Disney and it was beautiful!!! Unfortunately, we never have enough free time to visit the parks or for me to sneak a blate with all of you fabulous Florida girls. I think if we go down again next year, I am going to stay the weekend after to do all of those things!!!

Check this place out…

Four Seasons Walt Disney

There was an amazing closet, a Nepresso machine on the coffee bar, a freaking TV in the bathroom mirror that knew my name and my own private balcony. Yeah, resort living is something I could get used to! Every time I came back to my room, they had my coffee restocked, my trash emptied, and other stuff changed in my room. How did they know I was gone?!?!

The lights all around the hotel were just magical and my iPhone pictures don’t do it justice.

Four Seasons Lights

And I didn’t hate the coffee sipping views from my balcony, or the view from the rooftop of the fireworks shows from Universal and Disney!!!

Views

We ate fabulous food, none of which was captured on camera because I didn’t want to look like a creeper. It was fabulous. I tried scallops for the first time, hated them. But everything else was awesome!!! But Florida was still hot as fuck and it really did a number on my hair. I missed my husband…and my dogs…and it was time to fly home!

Atlanta from above

The rest of the weekend was spent eating burgers at Jack Brown’s, drinking beer at Jack Brown’s and World of Beer, watching a disastrous Auburn team play against LSU, watching my beloved Alabama make more mistakes than I could count against Ole Miss and me drowning my sorrows in snacks and losing my voice whilst screaming at the TV all night, watching my five year old nephew play baseball and lots of Mindy Project reruns. (Which the new season started on Hulu this week and the first episode was awesome!!!!)

Friday Favorites

Favorite Song: I Can’t Stop Drinking About You by Bebe Rexha. I think this song is about a year old maybe? I don’t know but it is Friday and it fits!

Favorite Treat: I tried macaroons for the first time. I know, I know. I live under a rock, I am sorry! But seriously, these were delicious! I loved that they weren’t overly sweet. I went safe with vanilla and strawberry. What are your favorite flavors?

Favorite Moment: Getting to see my sweet, sweet friends to honor our mommy to be at her baby shower on Saturday! And also getting to see Courtney who flew back from Texas for the shower! I didn’t get to recap my weekend because it was quite busy. It included some delicious foods at the baby shower Saturday, followed by a little football, Chris’s car battery dying on Sunday, me missing another baby shower 🙁 and starting Friends from the very beginning Sunday evening while cooking a late dinner, Browned Butter Sage Sweet Potato Gnocchi.

Let me know if you want me to share the brown buttered sage gnocchi recipe next week!

Favorite Beauty Product: I have been wearing Lancome’s Optic Sheen for years. YEARS!!! Mine ran out this week and it made me so sad. I ran by the Lancome counter at Belk but they were out. The lady said they may be doing away with this color because a lot of stores were out of it. Noooooo. I am going to snag one online before it’s gone, you should too!

Favorite Lusts: I really want to snag a couple of fall dresses. I don’t really have any and that is a crime, right? I really like this little number that is on sale right now!

And this one….

We are playing Ole Miss this weekend, so obviously football will be on deck for Saturday! I hope you all have a fabulous weekend!!!

–Sometimes when you are only needing two lunches for the week, you throw together whatever you have. Grazing for lunch might be my new favorite thing. Veggies with ranch, pita with hummus and a smorgasbord of olives? Don’t mind if I do! #snackforlunch

–I can probably have an entire conversations in emojis. #justsayin

–Has anyone else noticed that Bloglovin is trying to sneak in some bullshit on our new feed? Bloglovin Fashion, Bloglovin Lifestyle, Bloglovin’ Food,  etc. I have un-followed all that shit! Nice try Bloglovin’….nice try. #iunfriendyou

–If you are a morning reader, I am probably in the air between Birmingham and Atlanta or Atlanta and Orlando at this point just trying not to shit my pants on the plane. Oh how I hate flying!!! The struggle is real, you guys. So real. #fearofflying #cantidrive

–Speaking of fears, social anxiety is not my favorite. Not even a little. #awkward

The Scam

You all know my love for Janet Evanovich and her Stephanie Plum series, so I was so excited to see she had a new book coming out in another series. There is just something about the way that she writes that I really like.

the scam

I would like to note that I haven’t read the previous three books in this series, but was able to just pick this one up and enjoy without feeling left out. The Scam is #4 in a series about FBI agent Kate O’Hare. It would appear to the outside world that Kate is on Nick’s trail to bring him down when secretly, Kate and Nick team up to take down other criminals.

This whole book is setting up for a con to take down Evan Trace who runs a casino in Macau for others to launder money through. Trace’s customers are criminals, mobsters, dictators and terrorists. Nick and Kate go undercover to launder money in hopes to take Trace down. They team up with a Somali pirate, a Canadian actor and Kate’s father who is an ex-solider.

What I liked that is different about this series over the Plum series is that Kate is a capable FBI agent. She is a kick ass female character who  is in control. Stephanie Plum was about as qualified to be a bond agent as I am. While I love the Plum novels like no other, it is nice to read about a capable female! Girl power!

You get a little bit of cat and mouse between Nick and Kate as they flirt with each other. There is plenty of Evanovich’s humor thrown in. You learn a little about the secondary characters, and all around this was a great read. Nothing too deep or crazy, I consumed it in a matter of just a few days. I will be looking forward to the rest of the series!

I was provided a copy of this book  by the publisher and author via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Favorite Song: Throwing it back this Friday with Destiny’s Child Jumpin Jumpin. You know you cant help but single along to it, don’t even pretend otherwise.

Favorite Recipe: My mom was talking about kielbasa the other day and it has literally  been years since I have had any. I took to Pinterest to find a recipe to try soon and I found this crock pot one. Sounds delicious and easy, a dump and cook. My favorite!

Crock Pot Bourbon Glazed Kielbasa! This crock pot recipe is perfect for football parties, holiday parties or any day you want a super easy recipe.:

Favorite Workout: I am going to start this when I get back from my trip to switch it up!

The circuit workout you need to get strong, sleek, and toned. Print this out and do it while watching TV!:

Favorite Throwback: I ran across these yesterday and I remember wearing these in high school. I loved them and had three different colors!!! Would I be ridiculous to bring them back?

Favorite Lust: This one might be more of a goal than a lust. Last year I was obsessed with the faux leather legging look. I grabbed a pair of black leggings from Target that had a leather strip down them because I felt my legs were not ready to be in leather. This year it is my goal to get these legs toned enough to wear a pair!
