Never Have I Ever…

Bloggers tend to slow their roll in the summer, and we plan to do the same around here. The Confessions Linkup will now be a monthly thing. Instead of coming here every Wednesday, you will come here the first Wednesday of the month to spill all your secrets! That means Wednesday, July 6th will be the next link up.

Now that we have the administrative stuff out of the way…

I have had this post in drafts for a long time. Like we are talking at least a year. I had seen a few other people do them, one as recent as last week I think. My brain seems to fail me as to who it was. Anyways.  Never had I ever finished it….until now!

Never have I ever…

–Sky dived

–Been to another country other than Canada. Does that even count as another county?

–Skipped school without an excuse from my parents.

–Stripped or streaked in public.

–Smoked or even take a puff of a cigarette. That shit is nasty.

–Dyed my hair a weird color.

–Eaten an oyster. Saw a friend get near death ill from eating a bad one so I doubt I will ever try one. Or at least not a raw one!

–Cheated on a test.

–Been further west than Texas or Kansas City, Kansas.

–Had Pho. I am going to change that soon. Possibly on Friday with the opening of a new restaurant!! It looks delicious!

–Broken a bone other than a toe. And let me tell you, I have broken a toe or a few more than I care to admit!

–Driven faster than 100 mph. Though I have ridden in a car that has gone faster.

–Flirted my way out of a speeding ticket.

–Been arrested.

–Played spin the bottle.

–Shot a gun.

–Hitchhiked

–Put someone’s hand in warm water to try and make them pee.

–Camped outside over night.

–Worked in the food industry.

–Tried sneaking out of the house when I was younger. My parents didn’t really have to worry about me, I was the “good kid.”

–Been to Disneyworld or Disneyland. This has got to change people!!! I have been on Disney’s campus in Orlando to stay at a resort for work…but I have never gotten to enjoy the park.

–Had braces.

–Had a fake ID.

What have you never done?

Funny Pictures Of The Day - 63 Pics:

This is true, when I was younger my biggest fear was losing my mom in a store and being alone forever. Even today, if I am out shopping with her and we part to look at different things, if I can’t find her after about 2 minutes when I start looking for her I called her cell phone panicked. Hahaha….

book review, books

Exposure to a Billionaire

I was really excited when the Literary Ladies announced the book for June. And the fact that we received it free from the author, even better!!! I read the synopsis and I thought it would be something I would certainly enjoy. Something different from my usual reads.  I decided to write this review a little differently than I normally do and break it in to things I liked and didn’t like about the book. You know I am always honest about my opinions.

Exposure to a Billionaire

Things I liked:

–The travel descriptions of the places that Anna visits are wonderful.  You feel like you are there with all the details.

–Most of the characters of the book are decent people regardless of their wealth, which is refreshing.

–There is a little action in the book, though I felt like it was one of the more interesting story lines and was just sort of peppered throughout like an after thought to bring more interest to the book.

Things I didn’t like:

–The book repeats itself often with Anna telling us that the two pilots are like her brothers and Stuart calling Anna family. Ok, I get it….let’s not keep repeating it!

Spoiler in this statement-—-When Anna and Cade broke up, Anna seemed fine with it. Then she was upset for a few pages then she is going on a date with this French guy and totally swept up and completely over Cade. It was like a high school relationship that ended, not a seven year deep adult one.

–I got tired of Anna saying how everyone was so thankful for her. Like she didn’t have any self confidence and needed to always be reassured and thanked. Her job was to be the right hand man, so you are getting thanked for doing your job?

–The nicknames for people. Jean Michael went from being Jean Michael to Mitch to JM and they names were used interchangeably and it got annoying. And how for part of the book Anna was called Annabelle.

–I decided that Anna is a super materialistic person and is constantly talking about name brand items that she received as gifts or purchased. I cared nothing for any of that.

–I almost felt like the book was written by a high school girl. Just the materialistic part of it, the way the relationship ended, how Anna had to make it a point to say that all of these rich and famous people she was meeting were now her friends, etc.

Overall Thoughts 2/5

Overall, there wasn’t any real depth to the book. It is definitely more of a light, fluffy read. If you enjoy travel books, you may enjoy this one for the travel details. For me, there were many things that annoyed me that would normally make me quit the book. But I got drawn in and had to know what happened so I have to say that the author did keep my attention. I am linking up with Kristen, Kay and Kari.

I received a copy of Exposure to a Billionaire from the author in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are of my own.

Weekend Shenanigans

My goodness that first weekend of June just flew right on by, didn’t it? It was rainy on and off all weekend here in Alabama. This is basically what the entire weekend looked like, with bursts of random sunshine here and there…

IMG_8881

Friday, Laura and I were supposed to try a new restaurant that just opened. Unfortunately, the line was about 40 people long out the door and no food is worth that kind of wait!!! No need to fear, we had Skycastle next door as backup. A delicious backup it was! We split the buffalo chicken dip with house made chips and I ordered a burger and side salad as my entree. The side salad totally makes that a balanced, healthy lunch…right?!

IMG_8899

Saturday morning I finished reading Fooling Around and started Mug Shots. Both have been on my Netgalley for quite some time! I then cleaned the house and beat Wooly Yoshi! This was all I got for beating the game…

IMG_8871

Bullshit, right? I wanted a damn medal. Or at least a cookie! I started to play NES remix…but I don’t really know how I feel about it. It wasn’t my favorite.

Chris and I headed to Crazy Horse for an early dinner. It is a locally owned restaurant in a small town near our house. The food and service is always outstanding and we are lucky to have such an establishment so close! I almost always order the 5 ounce filet when we go there. They don’t bring a knife out with your meal because the owner believes the steak should just tear apart with a fork or it wasn’t cooked right. And it always is perfect! Normally, I am not a huge fan of fried green tomatoes, but theirs are the shit!!!! They always come on the side.

We hit up Target after our dinner date to get the weekly grocery shopping out of the way, then headed home to watch a SVU marathon of our own.

Sunday morning I had a hair up my ass to clean more of the spare room. My goal is to not have any storage left in our guest bedroom and turn the spare room in to a home office for myself. Chris has an office in our basement. It is ridiculous the amount of bags/totes we have. This pile I pulled out from the bottom of the closet in the spare room.

IMG_8887

I am donating some, giving some to my sister, and kept just enough to have for when we need but much more organized! I also got rid of a huge bag of shoes, probably about 10 pairs. And a whole lot of clothes that were hanging between the two spare closets. Why do I hang on to this shit? I haven’t worn/used any of it in the four years we have been at this house.

After a down pour, Chris threw some burgers on the grill for us and I made side salads to go with them. Delicious!

I spent the next two hours finishing season two of Grace and Frankie, reading a little and just relaxing after the huge clean up that morning. We then decided to try out the new Netflix original movie The Do Over with Adam Sandler and David Spade. It was cute. Then we checked out Ali Wong: Baby Cobra. The girl is hilarious!!! Here is a little snippet….

Then I realized that it was Sunday night and the bliss of the weekend was coming to an end. So sad when the Sunday night blues kick in. I hope that you all had a fabulous weekend!!!

friday favorites

Friday Favorites

Favorite Song: Waiting Game by Parson James – Of course, I found this on The Originals. I also believe it was on Grey’s Anatomy.

Favorite Moments:

–This week my favorite moment was having Monday off. Hahaha! Why can’t every weekend be a three day weekend?

–I had to go to Home Depot to pick up some supplies to fix our fence and the guy that I asked for help didn’t treat me like an idiot. That was really nice. Most of the time I feel like I get talked down to when I ask questions in those type of stores. Like why didn’t my husband come instead of me. I am fully capable, thanks. Same goes for car repair places. I don’t have sucker written on my face.

Favorite Recipe: With the hot weather here, all I really want is cold fruit and salads. I whipped my fruit dip recipe back out and it will be on repeat from now through football season! Don’t mind the fancy cool whip dish. Why dirty bowls when you don’t have to!?

Favorite Skin Care:I have talked about Paula’s Choice before, and I think that the products are great. What I like even more is that the website has a search engine to look up other brands and get the DL on the ingredients and effectiveness of them. It is a great place to go to look for some third party thoughts.

Paula’s Choice Clinical 1% Retinol Treatment is the perfect addition to your daily routine if you are looking for youthful, radiant skin. And ummm who isn’t looking for that?? This one product provides both hydration and works to diminish the appearance of aging.

If you are wanting to try anything by Paula’s Choice, head over to their site and enter the code PRRETINOL16 and you can save 20% and get FREE shipping!!! I received this product from BzzAgent, but you guys have heard me talk about Paula’s Choice before. Obviously I am a fan and all opinions are of my own.

Favorite Links:

–Lauren Conrad is going to be doing a Hills 10 year anniversary special on MTV.

–How to decorate your home according to your zodiac sign. Does yours match your style? Mine actually doesn’t. I am a Leo but decorate more like a Taurus or Cancer. Probably for the best since Chris is a Taurus.

–Have you seen Essie’s new line and bottles? I haven’t tried it yet.

about me, currently

Hey There, June

Another month of 2016 is in the books. I don’t even know where the last month went, really. We celebrated Chris’s birthday, started looking for a new car, I picked certain areas of the house to start cleaning, organizing and purging, I planted a bucket garden, and we enjoyed a few weekends with amazing weather before the Alabama heat kicks in to full gear. Spoiler alert, it came last week.

Currently I have been…

Reading: I just finished bawling my eyes out to Lily and the Octopus yesterday and started reading Fooling Around this morning on the treadmill.

Listening: Silver Bay by Jojo Moyes via audiobook.

Watching: Bloodline season 2 and Grace and Frankie season 2. We finished pretty much all of our shows for the season over the last two weeks. I think we might have one or two left. Anyone have any binge suggestions for the summer?

Wishing: For some positive people and  compassion. I feel like I have seen so much negativity the last few weeks in so many different areas. It would be a breath of fresh air to see someone supporting what someone else is doing, walking through a store without seeing people giving the workers a hard time over stupid shit, eating at a restaurant without over hearing ridiculousness, and I have basically been staying away from most social media that is a cesspool of rage and anger.

Excited: About trying out a new restaurant for lunch tomorrow with Laura!!! I have been wanting to spend some time getting our food blog back up and running and I hope that tomorrow inspires me to do just that! We have so many places to write about! I need to pour my creativity in to something.

What’s new with you?
