Weekend Shenanigans

I kicked off my Friday the best way I knew how, with a Caramel Brulee Latte and a Cranberry Bliss bar from Starbucks!

Laura had to cancel our burger date for lunch, totally lame Laura!!! (It’s ok, we are going today instead!!!) So I decided to grab some Chick Fila and run some errands for lunch.

Friday evening, Chris and I headed to World of Beer to meet with his new hire for awhile. I guess it was our last hurrah? I stayed out way past my bedtime, we were out after 10pm!!!! It was fun though and I was proud of myself for hanging.

Saturday morning was operation do all the things. I cleaned the house, organized some baby stuff and then Chris and I put together a shelf for her closet and I got to finishing her closet as well. Hopefully her dresser will be in our house this week and I can finish setting up everything…well except the curtains. I forgot we haven’t gotten curtains yet. Always something, am I right??? The rest of the day was about football so we ordered some Landmark BBQ and enjoyed the games.

We were also able to squeeze in a quick viewing of Elf before the Alabama game came on!!! That is one of my favorite Christmas movies and I am trying to get in to the November/December spirit since it was still hot. Here is proof, the radio station is playing Baby, It’s Cold Outside but clearly my car had to squash that dream by telling me it was 73 degrees. Better than 83 I suppose…but still!!!!

That Alabama game was something. I found myself yelling at Kiffin several times. As in “RUN THE BALL!!!!!” I can’t tell you how happy I was when Hurts finally ran one in the end zone and Griffith made a field goal. There were so many mistakes in that game and it was intense all four quarters! I thought I might put myself in to labor.

Sunday I started putting together the pack and play and then ran to the grocery store and got all that taken care of because Sunday afternoon I had a sweet little one year old birthday party to attend!!! After I got home, we caught up on a few of our TV shows and called it a weekend.

Friday Favorites

I swear Tuesday felt like it should have been Thursday this week, so needless to say it seemed long! I am glad Friday is here! I have a lunch date with Laura today and we are going to watch the Alabama vs LSU game tomorrow and get some stuff done around the house and nursery so it should be a productive weekend. The high today is supposedly “only” 77, so maybe some cooler air is in the cards for us? Please!!!! I am so ready for some fall weather! What do you have on deck for the weekend?

Favorite Moments:

–Having lunch with a few sweet friends yesterday at Hickory Tavern. It had been since May since I had seen one of them and that is far too long! A delicious cheese steak sandwich never hurt anyone either.

–All of the holiday sales catalogs have been rolling in this week!!! I absolutely love looking through them and receiving all their coupons! Does anyone else remember getting the toy ones in the mail when they were little and circling everything they wanted?

–Hanging out with this guy, as always. The bottom right picture was from last night. Mac was sitting on me but staring at Chris on the couch. I was like, Mac has been staring at you for like five minutes now. A few minutes later Chris goes, he really is staring at me! And the moment Chris said that Mac jumped ship over to him. He was waiting for an invite I think. The little dude is due for a grooming. I have been waiting to get it as close to before baby comes as possible so his nails are freshly clipped!

Favorite Recipe: I found this giant meatball recipe yesterday. It would meat the low carb requirements for Chris and give me some much needed protein so I say it needs to happen soon!

This isn't your regular meatball, it's HUGE, baked in the oven similar to how you would make a meatloaf, then topped with marinara and melted cheese – I'm OBSESSED!:

Favorite Lust: The Sephora VIB sale is next week!!! Here are a few things I have my eye on. Tell me what you have on your list!!!

-Heard so many great things about Kat Von D and especially the tattoo liner.

-I am almost out of my Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation so now is the perfect time to stock up on essentials like this!!! Hands down my favorite foundation ever. I have tried so many and came back to this one. It has the best coverage and colors that actually match my skin.

–Somehow I have made it this long without any real highlighters and I really want to try some. I think this Becca Glow kit would be a perfect place to start for the price!

–I can’t remember if I loved Miss Dior Blooming Bouquet or Miss Dior Blooming but I know one of these two smells so amazing and I really want a bottle!

Favorite Links:

–So let me get this straight….it is ok to expect woman to experience all the awful side effects of birth control but some men are pulling out of the trial because of the things we have been complaining about for years and years?!?!

–Remember Soul Asylum? I loved Run Away Train and I found this article pretty interesting about the lost children of their music video.

Favorite Funnies:

I think we all know I am Elf in this…

October came in and went out all fast like and it is time for another What’s New With You post with Kristen and Gretch. November is one of my favorite months of the year!!! The holiday season kicks off, Chris and I will celebrate our 4th wedding anniversary, Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays, we have the Iron Bowl and I just love love love Black Friday even though I wont get to partake in the crazy this year in person. Annnnnnnd this November is extra special as we are getting VERY close to baby girls due date!!! She might surprise us and come a little early.

Reading: Miracle on 5th Avenue – This book is being released later this month and I just love a good Christmas love story!

Miracle on 5th Avenue (From Manhattan with Love, #3)

Listening: To Christmas music, duh!! I start it up November 1st every year because I love Thanksgiving and Christmas so much that I like to enhance both months with my favorite music to enjoy for as long as I can. Plus they say that baby girl hears all my music choices in the womb and will recognize them outside and I want her to love Christmas music too!

I am also listening to Little Earthquakes on audiobook on my commutes to and from work. So good! I plan to have this and Miracle on 5th Avenue finished up in time for the Show Us Your Books link up next Tuesday so check back to hear my thoughts.

Little Earthquakes

Watching: I am watching all of our normal shows of course, but I wanted to talk for a minute about a few new shows that stared this season that you should check out!

fall-2016-tv

American Housewife – Hilarious!!! Just do yourself a favor and watch this one.

The Good Place – This one is super cute. It can be a little cheesy at times, but Chris and I find ourselves LOL’ing at least once an episode…usually much more.

Kevin Can Wait – This is one of those mindless comedies that you sometimes just need. Especially after an more intense show like SVU or the Chicago series. We have been enjoying it.

Pinning: Workout motivation and healthy recipes for after baby and this awesome Christmas photo list. I want to capture all the holiday magic to enjoy for years to come!

Excited: I am ready to finish up a few more things in the nursery and around the house this weekend! I have a pretty awesome burger date lined up with Laura and the Alabama vs LSU game is Saturday night, always a good one to watch.

32-34-weeks

Bumping: Right along! I am missing a 35 week picture, I need to get that because as of tomorrow I am “officially” 36 weeks. My due date is one month from yesterday!!! I seriously cannot believe how quickly this pregnancy has gone by! I mean, on one hand it feels like I have been pregnant forever because I have been pregnant for nearly all of 2016. But on the other, it seems like just yesterday we found out and now we are about to bring a baby home. It is just crazy! I have reached that stage of pregnancy where I am basically uncomfortable all the time now. I am just huge and my feet and ankles are super swollen and my back hurts and my hips hurt and chances are I am waddling to a bathroom as you are reading this because baby be all up on my bladder!

I started my weekly appointments on Tuesday and the doctor said that I am measuring well, her heartbeat is good, my blood pressure was perfect and her head is in a good position. Yay! I love appointments that go well like that.

Chris and I are finishing up things on the nursery and as soon as we have everything done I will be revealing it on the blog! It’s the best decorated room in our entire house, obviously.

What have you been up to?

confessions

Confessions

–I was out shopping with my mom, godmother and sister one evening and a sales associate at a store asked me when I was due. I told her December 2nd and she said “Oh wow, I hope you are carrying two!” I wanted to punch her in the face. How rude can you be? I am no more pregnant looking than other people. Rude ass bitch. My sister and mom both commented after to me that they wouldn’t have been near as nice to her as I was in my response. It really bothered me though and I clearly have not forgotten.

–I haven’t washed my car since we bought it back in July. I have good intentions to do it, and have even driven to the car wash place a few times…only for them to be so packed I say forget about it. Oops.

–When I am out and knock something over due to my new found clumsiness, I don’t pick it up. I physically can’t anymore. It makes me feel like a horrible person but I look at it as payback for all the times I have picked items up and put them back for other people who were too lazy for the last 33 years of my life. At least I have an excuse right now.

–I already have a list ready of things I want to purchase during the Sephora VIB sale in a few weeks. Don’t tell me you haven’t been counting down!!!

–I have been going through the drive thru at Starbucks instead of going in lately because I am sick of the judgy eyes I get for getting coffee. My doctor said that it is perfectly ok for pregnant women to consume 2 cups of coffee per day. I cut out my daily coffee the moment I found out I was pregnant and only grab a Starbucks tall or Dunkin Donuts small coffee once or twice a week on days I am exhausted and really need it to get through my day. So I don’t appreciate people being judgy assholes. It gets really old.

–Speaking of judgy….Chris had beer in our shopping cart at Publix and had walked away while I was checking out and the cashier said, “Gosh, I hope this isn’t for you.” I just looked at her and rolled my eyes. I had already gotten shit for getting roast beef from the deli. The guy slicing the meat told me that deli meat isn’t good for pregnant women…especially the roast beef. And I was like I KNOW!!! It’s for my husband. Good Lord! Just leave me alone people. I can’t be the only pregnant woman out grocery shopping for a family?

–If your feet no longer fit in your work out shoes due to swelling, that should be taken as your sign to take the rest of your pregnancy day off…right?!?!

–The weather is really messing with me this year. It was 90 degrees over the weekend, in the 80’s all this week. I mean, football season is nearly coming to an end. Halloween has come and gone and the holidays are upon us. I just don’t feel it yet. I want to feel it. I want to feel fall so bad. It makes me sad because this is my absolute favorite time of the year. I am drinking all the PSLs, eating fall treats, using my fall lip colors and as of yesterday listening to Christmas music. But like, while wearing flip flops and a sleeveless dress. Anyone else feeling this way?? COME ON COLD WEATHER!

about me

What You See Is What You Get

Anyone else see Alyssa’s prompt “what you hope people receive from you” and suck in some air? This is one that really gets deep and gets your gears turning, am I right? All at once everything and nothing came to me. We all want to be that cool person that says “I don’t care what people think of me.” But let’s be honest with ourselves, shall we? We do in some way, at least a little. Not everyone is going to like you, and that is cool I get that. And you shouldn’t live your life tip-toeing around to please other people or getting them to like you. At the end of the day though, whether you like me or not…what I want you to take away is that I am Nadine. I want people to at least say, well at least she is genuine and true to herself.

Because I am here to tell you, I am the same person no matter what situation I am in or who I am with. Sure, I might be more reserved in a professional group or around people I don’t know…but I am still Nadine. I might filter my use of cuss words around elders and children…..but I am still Nadine. I might not express my views of politics, religion, or what football team I root for to every person I encounter…but I am still Nadine.

And honestly, I really want people to just think I am kind and clever. Because when it comes down to it,  I honestly do have good intentions. I want people to feel like I listen, respect their opinions (even if they are wrong) and just feel comfortable around me. Even if I am awkward sometimes.

I want to be a place for laughter and support. Where you know you are going to get an honest answer. I am nothing if not honest.

What do you want people to receive from you?
