Linking up with Kristen and Gretch for a little currently update!

Reading: Wish You Were Here by Renee Carlino. I couldn’t wait to dive in to this book. I loved Swear on this Life and Before We Were Strangers so much. I read half of this in one day and I cant wait to devour the other half as soon as possible!

Wish You Were Here

Watching: Chris and I just finished Mad Dogs from Amazon Prime. There were 10 episodes in the first season and it was really weird, but we were hooked and couldn’t quit. This show is about four forty year old friends that go to Belize to visit their friend from college and things take an unexpected turn quite quickly. There were drugs, lies, deception and murder it was quite interesting!!! Also, Chris mentioned that this show had the best color and picture quality and I really have to agree.

Now we are watching the last season of Bloodline.

Lusting:I have gone through and gotten rid of all my cheap costume jewelry that I never wear anymore. You know the stuff. The things I thought were cute at places like New York and Company over the years and purchased in masses and then it quickly faded from my mind and style.I am much more in to a few basic, good quality pieces that can be worn over and over throughout the years. Basically what I am doing with my wardrobe lately too.

This adjustable lariat necklace has been on my wish list for a long time. I have a cheaper silver one that I wear several times a week and am obsessed with, but it is not adjustable and I really want to pull the trigger on this one but the price tag is a little steep. Though, I know I would get my wear out of it based on how many times I said I wish I had that necklace when I get dressed in the morning. Let me know if you know of a less expensive option!

And while I am lusting over necklaces, I love this one to layer with the one above and a few other pieces that I wear regularly!

Cooking:Now that it is warming up outside, I am all about the cooler foods. Salads, pasta salads and lots of fruit. How amazing does this Greek tortellini pasta salad look?

Pinning: Since we have purchased sand colored furniture for our living room, I find myself obsessing over neutral tones all over the room. I am loving this pinspiration!

Planning: We have our annual beach trip coming up soon. I am so excited! I think Chris and I are both very deserving of a few days away. While I know that going to the beach with an infant isn’t really going to be all that relaxing…the beach is my favorite place on the planet and a few days of not having to work on top of everything else I have going on is going to be so wonderful!

With all that said, we are going to be needing some items to make the trip easier with a kiddo in tow. I know we need to get a beach tent for shade. I like the idea of something with some ventilation because it gets hot as fuck!!! I am looking at something like this

I know that we are going to need a wagon to tote all this stuff back and forth from our condo. And obviously beach towels, rash guard suits for the kiddo, sunscreen, a baby pool float and all that jazz. What other beach essentials do you recommend with a baby? We got every year so things like the tent and wagon are going to be great investments that we will use for years to come.

Add This to Your List

Linking up with Lauren and Bre to share some things you need to add to your list! When I started collecting things for this post, I realized it was all food at first. Soooo that’s where my mind is. I do have some other items too, but let’s start with the food! Priorities.

**Some affiliate links included where I might make a few cents if you click them. Bitches gotta eat.**

Food

You guys, I know this sounds weird…but I am picky about my olives. I want nice, firm, good tasting olives. I have tried many brands out there, and there are only certain ones I will purchase. This brand has to be my absolute favorite!!! I do 90% of our grocery shopping at Target. Unfortunately, I can only find these at Publix. I would guess other “real” grocery stores have them too. Obviously they are delicious since  the jar is empty. I kept saying, oh I need to get a picture of these, but then….nom nom nom nom.

Picked this up on a whim at Target Sunday. You can see I have portioned out an exact serving of Wheat Thins and this cheese. This is because this stuff is hella good and I could probably eat the entire thing if I am not careful! So. Much. Flavor. This would be the perfect thing to keep on hand if you happen to have surprise visitors and you need a spread. Do people still just “drop by”? I wouldn’t know since our house isn’t on the way to anywhere.

This salad mix is the shit. Spinach, carrots, cabbage, bacon, almonds and cranberries topped with a sweet onion vinaigrette. Just do it! And if you are vegetarian, the bacon is in it’s own pouch so you can just toss it out or save it for your spouse’s plate.

Clothes

Target is having a dress sale this week. Buy one get one 50% off!!! I have had my eye on this dress since I first saw it a few months back. I told myself I would wait until they were running a sale and here we are! I tried it on Sunday because I was afraid it might be too short. It is actually the perfect length! I ordered it in black and olive!!! (They only had black in my size in stores and ummmm hello 50% makes the second dress $10. How can you not????)

How cute is this shirt?? Target also has this line called Knox Rose. It reminds me of the stuff that I see in boutiques around here. Very cute stuff, everything usually fits true to size and it is very affordable. My store happens to have a really big selection of their stuff compared to a few other locations I have visited. I just love love love this tank! It’s less than $25. I have a hard time finding tank tops and tank dresses that fit right under my arms. Usually everything is way too big and shows too much of my bra from the side, but this was the perfect fit!

Kids

I had to get Zoe some new pajamas again last week. I swear these kids grow faster than the grass outside! I really love the Gerber pajamas!!! They are zip front which saves a ton of time. Have you have tried to button 20 buttons on a wriggly 6 month old that wants to be doing anything other than getting her jammies on? Zoe always grows out of these in length with room to grow in the tummy area, so they have a good fit and she seems comfortable in them. They come in two packs or three packs depending on where you are purchasing them. They wash perfectly! I always have about six in each size so that we can go a few days without having to do laundry, so these get worn weekly until she outgrows them and they are still in really good shape when it is time to move up a size. We buy the Carter’s ones from time to time too, but these are more affordable and hold up just as nice.

Beauty

I ran out of my normal color care conditioner and decided to try something new. I am loving this OGX Orchid Oil one!!! It is less expensive and sulfate free. Win win! The scent is really pretty too! I always have at least two sets of shampoo and conditioner going in the shower at any given time because I find that my hair looks best when I switch it up and use ones with difference benefits.

What have you tried that you are loving lately??? Have you used any of these?

weekend shenanigans

Weekend Shenanigans – The One With the Extra Day

Can we just all agree that three day weekends are now a thing that happens every week? Wouldn’t that be wonderful? All in favor? ME!!!! Seriously though, this weekend was fabulous! Also, this might have been the most infuriating blog post I have ever written. WordPress is being totally lame and every picture that I upload has an error about ten times and I have to keep renaming them and trying again and I was about to just pull my hair out and quit! I had so many pictures to put in here but I am thinking that maybe half of them will make it before I throw my laptop across the room. Anyone else having WordPress issues???

Friday night, Zoe and I watched Secret Life of Pets. What a cute movie!!!!

I tried the Watermelon Mint Lemonade at ChickFila and I insist that you must try this ASAP! SO GOOD!!!!

We went over to one of my co-workers this weekend, Chris was helping him set up better wireless internet throughout his house. Him and his wife have two little girls, one of them is just a month younger than Zoe…so we had a little play date. It was Zoe’s first time being around someone her own age and it was so much fun! I have learned that she sympathy cries. Whenever another baby cries or squeals…so does Zoe. It is too sweet. It was nice getting to meet his wife and kids since I have heard so much about them over the years.

Saturday evening Chris’s friend came over to our house and we grilled out. I forgot to take a picture of my filet, but it was sooooo good!!! I finished reading The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo and started reading Renee Carlino’s new book!!! You will remember, she is the author of Swear on this Life. I am only about 10% in but it is good so far.

After cutting the grass and moving around all day, I realized that I hit all three of my goals on my Apple Watch Saturday evening. Something so satisfying about seeing all the circles complete.

Sunday Zoe and I did our grocery shopping at Target and Publix. Since Publix was a shorter trip to just grab some fresh produce, I decided to try out our shopping cart cover since Zoe has been sitting up unassisted really well the last two weeks. She LOVED it!!! It was like a ride at an amusement park to her. She was giggling and happy squealing. She was quite the little social butterfly too. Everyone we passed commented on how adorable and happy she looked and of course she put on a show giving them all the smiles. Shes going to be a little social butterfly I think.

She basically thinks she is a big girl now. Holding her own bottle. Sitting up all over the place unassisted. They grow too fast!

Today I am going to get a little work done and Chris went to the office for a little bit. Not sure if we are going to stay in or go out this afternoon. I think the weather is supposed to be kind of sucky. We shall see. Either way, make sure you take some time to reflect on those who have came before us and those who are fighting currently to give us all the freedoms that seem to be taken for granted these days with all the complaining on social media.

Friday Favorites

Ahhhh yes. That awesome feeling you get when it is the Friday of a long weekend!!! Hallelujah for that, am I right??? We don’t have a ton of things on the agenda this weekend, and that is how I like it. You never know what you might get in to.  I know one thing is certain, the grass needs to be cut! Every two weeks it is like an emergency jungle situation it seems. Good cardio. The only kind I am getting in these days haha.

Someone decided that she likes to sit up all on her own for long periods of time. So much so that she can now sit on her unicorn stool, which she highly approves of and is obsessed with.

Also happening this weekend? Zoe will be starting on solids. Stop it! I know! I cant believe it either. I picked up a few cups and two purees this week. Chris and I talked it over and we are sort of going to do a baby led weaning crossover approach to eating. I grabbed the purees just in case. And I want to start her on straw and 360 cups over sippy cups, since supposedly they are better for dental purposes. We shall see how all that goes!

Our Keurig died this week. It was a sad three days with no coffee. I made lots of green tea and pretended that it had all the caffeine I needed. Chris came home with this beauty last night. Needless to say we are both two cups in already this morning!  We had our old Keurig for about seven years, so I say we had a pretty good run. It was used multiple times every single day.

Best Bedtime Books

I cannot even begin to tell you how much I love the fact that Zoe is super into books!!! She loves looking at them, holding them, chewing on them. I love it! For only being on this earth for five months, she sure does have quite the collection!!! Can I just tell you though, like adult books, all children books are not created equal! Man, there are some real duds out there. Part of Zoe’s bedtime routine includes reading a few bedtime stories. These are our favorites!

The Going to Bed Book by Sandra Boynton

The Going-To-Bed Book

Shout out to Laura for gifting Zoe this book! This is our absolute favorite. In fact, I have the entire thing memorized and I often recite it to her while she is in the bathtub. The book goes through these cute little animal’s bedtime routine. They scrub. scrub scrub in the tub, put on their pjs, brush their teeth, exercise, turn off the lights, etc.

An Ocean Adventure a Sparkle Board Book

Join Titch on his ocean adventure and meet all kinds of sea creatures. Will he return home in time for bed? Zoe loves all the pictures in this book. This is the first book that she really paid attention too when she was younger.

Little Owl’s Night by Divya

Little Owl's Night

Little Owl meets all kinds of night time friends as he heads home before the sun comes up. The end of the book, his mama describes how the night ends and day begins and I always get goose bumps reading those few lines. The background is black instead of white, so I really think it helps the little kiddos really see the pictures.

On the Night You Were Born by Nancy Tillman

Cue all the tears and emotions on this one! This was one of the very first things I bought Zoe. I stood in the aisle at Target reading this one and crying ugly tears because of how beautiful it truly is! This would make such a great baby shower gift!

Goodnight Moon by Margaret Wise Brown

I feel like this one is a little cliche, but there is a reason! Zoe just loves this book and it is one of the first ones we read every night.

Do you have any favorite bedtime books? I read these ones over and over again to Zoe and we never tire of them! I think that is what makes them such good choices.
