I am beyond excited to finally do the nursery reveal. You guys, I am obsessed with this room! I am so happy with the way everything turned out and it is seriously my most favorite room in our house. And honestly, the best looking one too! The moment we found out we were having a girl, I started dreaming about her nursery and how I wanted it to look. I started out wanting to do various shades of purple but could not find purple bedding that I liked. Then I found this bedding at Buy Buy Baby and fell in love with it. Our entire nursery was built around this bedding.
The theme is blush pink, gold, silver, gray and hearts. I didn’t want it to look too child-like. That is just not my style. Every single piece in her nursery can grow with her as her tastes change. Her crib converts into a toddler then full size bed. Her dresser is of the best materials and has beautiful hardware and isn’t just a “kid dresser.” The glider could be transferred to any room in the house if she doesn’t want a chair in her room when she is older. I am so in love with the furry ottoman and metal side table that I found to go with the chair. Again, pieces that could go in other rooms later if she wanted to change them out.
I spent months collecting pieces for her walls. Most of the items came from Hobby Lobby, were gifted by my sister or made by my sister (the bow holder and measuring board) and sister-in-law (the ribbon garland above her crib.) And those gold dots. Aren’t they perfect to go with the bedding? I spent way too long hanging those “just so.”
I will let the pictures do the rest of the talking!
Here are all the details on where everything is from. There are a few things in the room that were gifted or were mine from when I was a child. That care bear on the side table? My mom painted that for me when I was 3 or 4 years old. The care bear rocking chair is also an anitque of mine from years ago as is her book shelf. A few of these links are affiliate links where I might earn a penny or two if you were to click on it. Gotta buy those baby clothes! I tried to do everything as affordable as possible because I like to get good deals. If you have any quetions about anything in the room, feel free to ask! I would be happy to share the details. The paint color on the walls is Benjamin Moore Storm.
Oh, and before I go. Baby girl has her very own Christmas tree waiting on her!!! My mom bought me this Disney Princess tree many years ago and over the years I have collected princess ornaments for it and I thought it was just perfect for her room! I plan to let her use it until she decides what kind of tree she wants in there 🙂
I think you all know my new found love for plants. While I haven’t quite mastered them yet, they are still fascinating and I want to incorporate as many of them as I can in to my home. Interior design is awesome, but purposeful interior design? Even better!!!
I have a huge love for pretty books and pictures too. Enter Rooted in Design.
I was so ridiculously excited when I opened this book and saw all the gorgeous pictures of various ways to incorporate house plants around my home in a way that is appealing to the eye.
There are so many tips in here on how to decorate window seals and various areas of your home, as well as using plants as walls or living curtains. I mean, they are so right…you could totally use plants as a wall to separate rooms in your house!!! Just take a peak at a few pages of this book….
I could flip through it for hours admiring and planning all the different elements that I want to incorporate into my own home. What is even better is that there are paragraphs dedicated on how to select and care for the plants, and how to create the images you see in the pictures. They even give you ideas on items that you can re-purpose as a planter that you may already have in your home.
I think my favorite part of the book, besides all the useful information…is that the pictures aren’t over the top. They look like they weren’t edited much and were taken in real homes. It makes me feel like I could recreate nearly every single look in this book…which gives me more confidence than some ridiculously over edited magazine type pictures, you know what I mean?
You can learn more about the author of the book here.
If you are at all interested in indoor plants, I would suggest taking a look at this book! Ebooks are great and all, but this is one you are going to want the hardback version of. If anything, it makes a pretty coffee table book when you are done!
**I received this book from Blogging for Books but all opinions are honest and of my own. **
Decorating a house can be hard work! We have lived in our current house for two and a half years, and hardly any rooms are decorated the way I want them. The thing is, I have been trying to collect meaningful pieces. Not just something for a space just to have something. Do you know what I mean?
So when Ashley asked me if I wanted to receive one of her hand lettered art pieces to review, I was honored and excited! I only share things on my blog that I truly believe in, and Ashley’s prints are awesome! The problem is, I had a hard time deciding which one I wanted! She has so many great prints. Here are some of my favorites:
The great thing is, Ashley even does custom prints! I really loved this state one, especially since I had lived a few different places and Chris and I started out in two different states. Ultimately I decided on this one:
It is the perfect addition to our bedroom area.
The print arrived in perfect condition! She even had it sealed in plastic, which looks very professionally done.
You can shop Ashley Nevis Prints shop here. She offers free shipping, which I find super awesome! And be sure to check out her blog here. She shares some delicious recipes!
Now for some super exciting news, Ashley has set up a giveaway for one of my readers to win a beautiful piece of hand lettered art of hers!!! This is the first giveaway I have ever hosted on my blog, so I hope you enjoy!
