weekend shenanigans

Weekend Shenanigans

Can you believe the middle of January is upon us?? Not sure how that happened. I am officially half way through my Whole 30 journey!!! Today is day 15. I feel pretty fantastic right now and I am so, so proud of myself!!! If you only knew the temptations I had this weekend that I held strong through.

I guess some of you are off today. Lucky ducks! The real estate market cares nothing about MLK, Presidents Day or any of those other “bank holidays.” So rude, right?!

Friday evening we had turkey burgers and caught up on PLL and New Girl.I also went through our closet and pulled out a bunch of clothes that I haven’t seen Chris wear in a really long time. I am still trying to organize and purge around the house, little areas at a time. I fell asleep on the couch shortly there after, so you know it was a long week!

Saturday I cleaned the house and then we headed to a new restaurant in the Crestwood area called The Filling Station. It is a pizza place and let me tell you….the smells were off the charts amazing and I was sad that I couldn’t have any of the delicious looking apps or pizza that Chris ordered. I stuck to my plan and ordered a salad, with no cheese of course.

I was amazed by my will power. Cheating didn’t even cross my mind. After I was through with my salad, I felt satisfied and it held me through the rest of the day so I can’t be mad about not having that nasty, heavy feeling to lug around after a greasy pizza meal.

It was 55 out but it felt like spring with the sun, so we enjoyed that patio!

We hit up a few thrift stores, check out this book haul!

And I also grabbed Mac a few jackets on clearance at Petsmart because the little dude is cold when he goes out with his short hair. Their coats are 75% off!

He is man enough to pull off fur detailing. Obviously.

Sunday was a day of meal planning and grocery shopping. I got done a few blog posts and things around the house as well. Yay for productivity!

Linking up with Biana. I hope you all have a fabulous week, and enjoy the last of your long weekend if you got one!

I’ve heard about the filling station. I think Whitney and I need to head down there one day and try it out.

BTW, the service industry doesn’t care about “bank holidays” either. Lucky for me though, Mondays are always my day off from work.

Ha, transportation stops for no one!! I’m here for all your gchat needs! I can’t wait to try out Filling Station once we are done with this! I’m going to savor every little bit of pizza! And look at all those books — woo hoo!!

House Rules is one of my favorites by Jodi Picoult! I hope you enjoy 🙂

I give you so much credit on two accounts, one no cheese or croutons on a salad. That takes major will power I agree. Two, going through your husbands closet and getting rid of stuff. I would do that and then two days later Mark would want the one obscure top I’ve never seen him wear and then I’d be blamed for his ability not to wear it hahahahaha men!

Congrats on being half way finished! It’s weird how once you get a good routine going with eating habits, it’s not as super tempting to cheat anymore. Especially once you start seeing results and feeling better. I may have to copy your idea and raid my husbands closet soon, as it is an absolute mess and he literally wears the same shirts over and over, so I know there’s stuff in there he’ll never wear again. Have a great Monday!

I am so proud of you! I know how hard it is when you’re tempted and I think it’s awesome. I totally agree that you feel better when you eat lighter instead of the heavy pizza! We decluttered, too. I’m off today so we’re going to finish. It feels so good! Happy Monday!

Once you get to the point in the Whole30 where you are, you don’t want to cheat. You’re all, I’ve come this far and I AM NOT GOING TO FUCK IT UP NOW.

I love all the purple book covers. Books are pretty.

i think the way they see it: mo days to work, mo money. greedy sons of bitches.

yay for being half way through!! you have been so strong and it’s so awesome.

so get this…my MIL has been so awesome with trying to find grain free options for me when it comes to desserts. i think she feels bad that everyone eats dessert except for me and i keep telling her, it’s not the grains, i just dont want to (but really i do want to eat it because cake and brownies and a fucking party in my mouth is what’s missing in my life).
anyway, she made crepes last night but with chickpea flour!! the topping options were fruit, nutella and icecream and i straight up made a beeline for nutella because the last time i had that was in 2012. i took my time spreading it all on and when people were like, hurry up already! so i legit shouted “I HAVE NOT HAD NUTELLA OR A LEGIT DESSERT IN THIS HOUSE SINCE 2012 SO LET ME HAVE MY MOMENT!!”

I did the same thing to Ben’s closet after I saw you post that pic on Instagram haha! I have been meaning to go through this stuff forever so thanks for being the motivation to finally get it done. I seriously think I got rid of more than half of his wardrobe.
    OMG dog coats…too cute!
Ah you guys had such nice weather, I’m jealous! And congrats on being halfway through Whole30, yay!

I am thoroughly enjoying my long weekend and am dreading having to get off the couch and do some meal prep for the week. I can not believe we are on day 15. We will be done before you know it then comes the hard part for me… figuring out where I go from here. Want to keep the healthy habits going this time!!!

  • Reply Erin LFF January 18, 2016 at 1:28 pm

Great job on being halfway through your challenge- WOO HOO! 🙂 Have you read House Rules before? It’s probably in my top 3 favorite Jodi books! Also, fun fact…. I attend K-12th grade with Lori Foster’s son haha!

Sitting out on patios is the best thing about a day to me… love when the day works for that to happen.

    Love thrift store book finds!!!

Way to go on not giving into cheating this weekend! I definitely don’t think that I would have been able to, especially because I did cheat a little this weekend on my diet. That’s also amazing that you were able to clean out Chris’ closet a little bit! That’s on my short list of things to do, but haven’t had the time to do it just yet. Hooray for getting coats on sale at Petsmart! It’s always so exciting when you find some great things that you need when it’s on sale!

  • Reply Em January 18, 2016 at 2:13 pm

Way to go on rocking that Whole 30 challenge! And I had SO many intentions to purge so much from my closet…but ummm well that didn’t happen and I ended up going shopping with my sister instead bahaha. Priorities.

  • Reply Amy @ Getz Girl on Fire January 18, 2016 at 3:57 pm

That Whole 30 is no joke . . . I did it last year! Good for you for standing strong! Clean out all the things. Doesn’t it feel so good to let them go?!? And pet jackets = love.

  • Reply Jackie January 18, 2016 at 4:41 pm

Does any business celebrate MLK day anymore? I even had packages delivered from USPS this morning and was confused.

  • Reply Amanda January 18, 2016 at 7:12 pm

I had to work today, too. BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! 🙁
55 sounds like absolute HEAVEN right about now. It was so cold out today that I only filled my gas tank up halfway because I couldn’t take the cold anymore, lol

  • Reply Jessica @ Pleas(e) & Carrots January 18, 2016 at 8:50 pm

Your willpower is amazing!! And ooo House Rules is really good! I’m so mad I’m stuck here on bed rest or I would have been at PetSmart buying dog coats this weekend too!

  • Reply Allison January 18, 2016 at 11:45 pm

  • Reply Laura @ Life with Lolo January 19, 2016 at 2:35 pm

Jealous of your 55 and sunny! It was gorgeous out yesterday here on my day off, and yet this damn boot kept me inside. UGH. Sorry I need to quit whining. Good work sticking to it eating out! I don’t think I could have handled myself in a pizza place. That’s my #1 craving as of late.

  • Reply Katie January 21, 2016 at 12:40 pm

Love doggies in jackets!! I used to force Maggie to wear them when I first adopted her bc she was so darn skinny but she HATES any clothes SO much that I feel like a bad mommy whenever I try to stuff her in one. Post pictures 🙂
