Good Friday Things and Spring Style

Hey there, Friday! Some of you have off today. How lucky!!! Our office closes at 2pm today, so I will take it! I am not sure what we have in store for this weekend, but for Easter Chris and I made it a tradition to go to Waffle House for breakfast and then his parents house for family festivities and lunch. This year will be our first year playing Easter bunny, and I am really excited! Last year, Easter is when we announced to our families that we were pregnant! So this time of year will forever be extra special to me.

I did some shopping this week. I was in desperate need of some spring attire. Which for me, is dresses and a good pair of comfy sandals. I found some really great pieces that I wanted to share with you!

First up is this amazingly comfortable pink denim jacket I picked up from Target a few weeks ago. I got it 30% off with Cartwheel making it around $20. I live in my regular denim jacket all spring and summer so I am glad to mix this one in to change it up! (Don’t mind the Loft fitting room selfie!)

I also purchased that black/white/blue dress behind me. It is a fit and flare one that I cant find online anywhere. It was 40% off! I spy Zoe’s adorable feet in this picture too! Swoon.

Next up is this super comfy (you seeing a pattern???) striped swing dress from Old Navy. On Wednesday it was 50% off. I assume it still is? I mean, less than $15?!?! Sign me up for more, please! After wearing it yesterday, I think I want to go back and get the all black one too. You can never have too many black dresses, am I right??

I also scooped up this little black off the shoulder number while I was there for 30% off. Again, so comfy, but so cute too! And ladies, if I can pull these off with my deflated water balloon postpartum belly…you can too.

I still have my eye on this dress from Loft, but I refuse to buy anything there full price.

Then, thanks to Emily, I was on the search for these LC sandals at Kohls. They were on sale and they had an extra 20% off coupon! Major score! I was afraid my feet would look fat weird in them, or they wouldn’t be comfortable, but they are a perfect fit and I basically want all the colors!!! I grabbed nude, but I would love to have the rose gold and black as well. I can see them being a summer staple.

While I was at Kohls, I spotted these LC Sandals as well. I really wanted them, but they didn’t have my size. They had a half a size smaller and I can tell by trying them on they would be a great fit. I liked that they dont cover your entire ankle. Most gladiator type sandals kill my ankle bone by the end of the day but these would be much better! I will be keeping my eye out for them in my size. How gorgeous are they???

What do you have your eyes on right now? Do you have any Easter traditions? This year we are sticking with our regular ones, but I think next year I want to add in some fun activities to do with Zoe when she is a little older. My mom always took extra measures to make sure our holidays were super fun growing up. I want to do the same! I hope you all have a wonderful weekend! Happy Easter!

Hello, Fall

Either way fall is here and I am in love and I don’t care who knows it! Fall is my absolute favorite time of year because the weather finally starts to cool down, the leaves change a beautiful color, the smell of that first crisp autumn morning stays with you all season, the best flavored coffees and beers come back, fall jewel tones compliment my pale-ass skin, and it officially kicks off the start of the move towards the holiday season. Hello Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas! Not to mention, all the good TV shows come back!!!

Today I wanted to share with you some fall inspiration!

Fall Fashion – I love anything jewel toned in the fall. Also, leopard print, booties, football team colors and cardigans make their come back in my weekly outfits. How cute is this top? Perfect color for game day and it’s on sale for half off! I do love a good sale!

Sadly, I will mostly be in maternity leggings and whatever top will fit over this ever growing belly of mine this fall. But a girl can still dream, can’t she?

Fall Home Inspiration – This fall, I don’t plan to do too much around the house in my current condition. I am going to save my energy and get our Christmas stuff up early this year (beginning of November) since I am due around the time most people put their trees up. Clearly I wont be too mobile then!!! I still cant help but drool over all the fall decor that I see at Homegoods and TJ Maxx! This is going to be my goal for next year…

Spring Has Sprung

Spring is in the air!!!  The high here in Birmingham today is 82, the trees are blooming, the bees are buzzing, and the damn mosquitoes are the size of pterodactyls already!

There is something rejuvenating about the first few weeks of spring. The warm sun feels so good on your vampire pale skin. You start planning your meals around who has the best patio spot in town. You whip out your flip flops and swear you will never go back to regular shoes again. And you double fist Cadbury mini eggs and Clariton D like it’s your job.

I have been loving looking through all the magazines and catalogs at the spring clothes. I thought I would share a few of my favorite items for spring!!!

Row 1

Stripe Shirt/NARS Lipstick/ Shadow/ Vans

Row 2

Dress/ Wedges/Purse/ Jeans

Row 3

Shell/ Flip FlopsColor Block Top/Off Shoulder Swing Dress

I really like to mix up my items. I won’t pay top dollar for just anything. I think it is good to have a balance of a few designer pieces that are timeless and you will have season after season, and then throw in a few inexpensive “trendier” pieces that you like right now but maybe you won’t care so much about it in a year or two.

What are you favorite things this spring?

Confessions – I Am *Not* Fashion Blogger

I am aware of the things that I am good at, and the things that I am not. One of those things is posing for pictures. I don’t know how you fashion bloggers do it day in and day out! You always look so perfect and natural. I look like an awkward mess.

To give you an idea of what my blog would look like if all I posted was fashion, I thought it would be fun to take a look this Wednesday!

All photos were taken of the highest quality iPhone 5 has to offer. These are real clothes, bought at stores that you most likely shop at, probably on sale and worn by a no where near a size 2 person.

IMG_4249.JPG

Like my $12.48 clearance dress from Target? Me too! It goes lovely with my $39.99 booties from Nine West. Pair it with a 3 year old $20 cardigan from the Gap and we have an outfit!

IMG_4113.JPG

Hands on hip – check! Head tilt – check check! Here I am in a sweater from Nordstrom Rack (probably in the $30 range, because I am so edgy with the zippers on the sleeves, duh!). Ann Taylor Loft Skinnies and necklace (both from the outlet of course) annnnnd the most expensive pair of flats I would ever buy. Because I can walk in them all day and they don’t hurt my feet. (Cole Han at Nordstrom Rack for $89.)

IMG_4145.JPG

Statement necklace from the Loft outlet $8, trouser leg black dress pants from JCPenney from about 4 years ago $36, sweater from Loft clearance rack $20, tank top by LC (Lauren Conrad) at Kohls clearance $12. Squatting to fit into the picture – priceless!

IMG_4097.JPG

Here we have the Gap sweater and black pants from above pictures with two pieces off the clearance racks at Loft. This is my attempt at layering because every lace top needs glitter under it! Also, this is my best attempt at curling my hair. Notice it is half back, attempt unsuccessful.

IMG_4079.JPG

Trying on a Michael Kors vest at Nordstrom Rack with THREE shirts underneath. Fun times. I went back for it, but it was gone 🙁

IMG_3803

Here I am casually snapping a picture of my outfit in a fitting room trying to make sure my mom doesn’t see me do it. Then I laughed at how awkward I looked and showed her the picture anyways. The outfit totally came home, my attempt at dressing like Sex in the City.

IMG_4076.JPG

Another fitting room picture. If it doesn’t pass the picture test it doesn’t make it home. This shirt was left behind.

IMG_3969.JPG

And here I am looking all edgy. Or something like that. Top was a birthday present from Laura 🙂 The sweater is another Loft clearance pick. Seeing a pattern? Jeans from the Gap.

These next few pictures were for a post I was working on for Kristen but never finished. The infamous jean jacket styling!

IMG_3638.JPG

Saturdays at World of Beer – Jean Jacket from Old Navy (I think $30) dress from JCPenney $14.99.

IMG_3557.JPG

Gameday- Roll Tide! This dress is from Loft outlet for $20 and the necklace and bracelet were presents from my mom. She found them at Private Gallery.

IMG_3596.JPG

Work appropriate – Just kidding I wore all three of these to work. Dress from Loft for $30, necklace from Loft $25 (both on sale.)

And there you have it folks. Why I could never be a fashion blogger!

Currently

I haven’t done a currently post in awhile and that is a shame! I always love reading currently posts because it gives you lots of little snippets. So here we go!

Currently listening to: Enya – Only Time – Perhaps it is the rainy weather or the cooler weather, but this song brings calmness to me.

Currently reading: Fearless Fourteen – the 14th book in the Stephanie Plum series. I should be done with this book by the end of the week. Or tomorrow. 🙂

Currently coveting: I really want some booties. I have none! How is that even possible?! There is a pair that I am absolutely in love with at Nordstrom Rack. They are Michael Kors and they are fabulous! However, they are a bit pricey and I found two pairs at Target that would do the trick! Ok, there are three pairs that I want. (They are having a sale right now!!! Click the picture for the link.)

Currently excited for: Disney on Ice with my nephew’s class! Just a few more weeks. I need to find my princess attire, obviously!

Also, cooler weather! We had some strong storms roll through here last night and after the rain clears out today, it is supposed to be cooler! Give me all the sweaters!

And the fact that my face is finally calming the efffff down. I will be sharing my new skin care routine in another week or two when I can verify that it is indeed working great. Which, it looks that way!

Currently drinking: Archer Farms House Blend k-cup with Pumpkin Pie Spice creamer. Delicious!!! And way less calories and money than the PSL.

Currently surprised by: The fact that I drank black coffee while in Orlando last week. Like, who am I? And I actually enjoyed it!

Currently thinking about: Which phone I want. Still. Yes, every decision I make, I treat like a life altering decision. Don’t think I took the selection of booties to covet lightly up there. I have been to Target three times to look at them and try them on. Ridiculous, right?

Work Decisions

Also, how is it mid October already?! Like, seriously??? Our two year anniversary is coming up. My trip to Houston for my friends wedding is just around the corner. Thanksgiving and Black Friday are just a little over a month away! That is just crazy talk! Maybe once this cooler weather comes, it will feel more like fall.
