Vacation Confessions

It’s the first Wednesday of the month, and I am late to my own link up! How is that for a confession? If you missed last month’s announcement, the Confessions Linkup is now a monthly thing that will occur the first Wednesday of the month.

–I don’t make a big deal about packing. I just pick out some outfits and other things I need and do it. I can be packed for an entire week in 30 minutes or less with no stress. This blows some people’s minds.

–No matter how much sunscreen I wear, I still manage to get sunburn somewhere. Darn that Irish skin!

–Now that I am old, even on vacation I am up by 630 am and in bed by 1030 pm at the latest. But usually in bed before 10 pm.

–I never tire of hearing the ocean crashing into the shore or lose the amazement of it’s beauty.

–I only last sitting out in the sun for 15-20 minutes before my ass hops in the pool. I hate being hot.

–Having sand in my hair or on my body might be my least favorite feeling ever.

–No beach trip is complete without sandwiches and Spicy Sweet Chili Doritos. (You know…the purple bag.)

–I have been to Destin, Panama City and a few places on the Atlanta Coast….but Gulf Shores Alabama is my favorite place to visit. It is more chill and relaxed. There are some seriously amazing restaurants, the beaches aren’t over crowded and it is just beautiful.

i wish i packed as easily as you! i am always stressing about it. sure, it’s all organised and all that jazz, but not without lots of stress first haha. and i am with you, we woke up at 630 every single morning on the cruise no matter what. we didn’t have the blinds open, it wasn’t the sun. just hashtag getting old lol. i don’t mind sand on my body/hair/whatever when i’m at the beach, but as soon as i step foot away from the beach, it’s like bugs crawling on my skin and i can’t stand it.

you’re late to the linkup and I totally forgot!!! next month for sure!
i hate sand in my hair. meanwhile, kayla will do sand stars in the sand!! ew!

Sunscreen AND a hat is my m.o. lately. I feel like I’m more susceptible to the sun as I get older, which is weird.

Doritos are the world’s biggest guilty pleasure. I loved the Salsa ones like 10 years ago and then they stopped making them.

Sand is the ABSOLUTE WORST THING EVERRRR.
I’ve learned that sitting on the beach (on a lounge chair) under an umbrella is possibly the best thing ever. Except for the part where you have to move on the beach, then move off, the best thing ever.

You realize you’re old when you’re up super early, even on days off…YES! ME! I slept in one day , Monday I think and woke up at 10 and was like…omg is it Tuesday–what’s going on here?! LOL

  • Reply chelsea jacobs July 6, 2016 at 12:01 pm

Yes! The purple bag of Doritos is a beach staple!

  • Reply Mattie @ Northwest Native July 6, 2016 at 12:01 pm

Replace boob sweat with butt sweat and there’s my struggle. Hahaha. I will never tire of the ocean or not be in awe of it. It’s just beautiful/crazy. I sometimes feel like I’m bad at being a girl because ‘laying out’ is miserable. I definitely have to sprint into the water after like 15 minutes. And I also always get my hair wet…on purpose (*gasp*).

  • Reply Cara July 6, 2016 at 12:27 pm

The purple bag doritos are my fave! I definitely am the same way with waking up early and going to bed early on vacation. This getting old thing… haha

It looks like you’re having a great time on your trip! I’ve never been to the Gulf Shores, but from all the amazing things I hear about it, I’d love to visit! And I’m totally with you about waking up early and then going to bed by 10! When we were in San Diego I was pretty much passed out asleep by 10!

  • Reply Andrea @ Living On Cloud Nine July 6, 2016 at 2:23 pm

These confessions sound like our week right now! Heading home Saturday. My packing is about 2 hours before trip then only 15 minutes heading home. Throw it all in so I can soak up every last second. Your schedule sounds like me and the Mr. We actually slept in til 7:30 today, gasp!! Ha ha. We are always in bed by 10 and early bird diners too! I have been getting sand in a blister I have from a flip flop…NOT fun. Sure glad you guys had a great time!!

“Now that I’m old…” Girl PLEASE! 😉 haha
I hate the feeling of sand on me – only because it seems to multiply like some horrid alien creature. I can never get it off it seems.

  • Reply laura July 6, 2016 at 3:05 pm

Sand is the absolute worst!!! THE WORST!!! And I’m totes with you on being in bed before 1030 — except it’s more like 930 with me! 🙂 PLEASE COME HOME NOW.

  • Reply Amy @ Getz Girl on Fire July 6, 2016 at 3:10 pm

I feel you girl . . . I do love the sound of the ocean . . . it could rock me to sleep every night. I also LOVE the shade with an ocean breeze to cool things down but damn, I don’t like to be hot, sandy or want creepy things to touch me in the water. Never mind the copious amounts of sunscreen required to keep me from the edge of cancer . . . I am the proud owner long sleeve swim shirts, big floppy hats and damn near prescription sunscreen . . . I tell myself I’ll look like a baby when all my tanning friends are old and wrinkly! Ha!

  • Reply Amy @ The Crazy Wise Woman July 6, 2016 at 3:26 pm

Loving your beach snaps! I just cancelled ny trip… boo! Can’t justify it unemployed!!

  • Reply Bri @ North Star Girl Lone Star World July 6, 2016 at 4:27 pm

I’m so impressed that you can pack that fast. It doesn’t take me as long as most but I’m definitely more than 30 min for a whole week. I wake up & go to bed about the same time, all the time, too.

  • Reply Lindsay July 6, 2016 at 6:38 pm

Hope you enjoy your vacation! We do the same thing: up at 6:30 and in bed by 10:00. I can’t hang! I hate being hot, too… we’re going to Nashville this weekend and it’s going to be 100! No thanks! Have a great time!

  • Reply Jess July 6, 2016 at 8:03 pm

I also go to bed by 10:30 PM, even on vacation. My friend asked me if I wanted to go to a movie with him and someone else at 10 PM. I thought they had clearly lost their minds. I wouldn’t even get back till after midnight, that’s unacceptable for my sleep pattern! I have to wake up at 5:15 AM during the week, and my body finally sort of adjusted to it after years of working second shift.

  • Reply Emily @ Martinis & Bikinis July 6, 2016 at 8:10 pm

I agree it’s so uncomfortable to just sit and bake in the sun. I need to be in the water to cool down and yes I too had sand. When I was at the beach recently I woke up with sand all over the bed and was not impressed. lol

  • Reply Erin LFF July 6, 2016 at 8:31 pm

I can’t really sit out in the sun too long either- gimme the ocean/pool as much as possible!!! I am totally an early riser on vacation too… We are def old people 😉

  • Reply Jenna July 6, 2016 at 9:44 pm

I dunno… Gulf Shores is steadily getting more and more crowded, from what I’ve seen.

  • Reply ellesees.net July 7, 2016 at 11:42 am

I get sooo stressed out packing! Wish I had your skillz! 😉

  • Reply mandie July 7, 2016 at 12:51 pm

I too hate having sand anywhere on my body…but I do love the sound of the waves from the ocean. Damn, I think that I need to head back to Florida! 🙂

  • Reply Kelli July 7, 2016 at 3:51 pm

We have all the sand in all the places all the time here. It still annoys me when I walk through the kitchen and there is sand all over the floor, I spend LOTS of time sweeping.

  • Reply Jessica @ Pleas(e) & Carrots July 7, 2016 at 8:34 pm

I don’t know how people spend so much time on packing! I’m like you, I just spend like 20 minutes and move on with my life! And I put sunscreen on sooo many times this weekend and still came home with sunburned shoulders and some more freckles on my face, so annoying!

  • Reply Rach @ This Italian Family July 11, 2016 at 5:51 pm

I’m with you on still waking up early even on vacation. Ah, being old is awesome. 😉 So glad you had a fun time in Gulf Shores!

  • Reply Duckie July 28, 2016 at 2:24 am

I love the ocean. I can sit there and watch the tide roll in and out and still never get tired of it.
