So, I got a call from daycare on Monday afternoon that Zoe was running a high fever. Her teacher had joked with me that morning that her only goal for the week was to keep Zoe healthy for surgery Friday. Sigh. We were working on a three week streak, but all good things come to an end. One of the best things about working from home though, is I can make a delicious breakfast in the mornings! We had some squishy bananas left over from last week. Once a banana has a brown spot on the outside, I am like….yeah, no. Wont eat it. I figured I had to have most of the items on hand for a banana bread so I got to it!
What You Need
3 very ripe bananas
1/3 cup melted butter
Pinch of salt
1 tsp baking soda
1 large egg
3/4 cup sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 and 1/2 cups flour
What You Do
–Preheat oven to 350 and line a bread pan with parchment paper (less clean up!)
–Mash bananas with a fork and stir in the butter.
–Mix in baking soda and salt.
–Stir in sugar, egg and vanilla extract.
–Mix in flour.
–Pour batter into pan and bake at 350 degrees between 50 minutes to an hour. It took mine right at 55 minutes.
Does anyone start their next book post the same day the current one goes live? I do! Just about every month I have already started another book that I go ahead and get the Goodreads link for it and picture of the cover so I can keep up with my post as I read the books. If I didn’t do this, I would probably forget of half of what I read. Truth. Linking up with all the cool kids, Steph, and Jana.

So I don’t even know where to begin with this one. First of all, some of the names (Raine, Roane, True) sort of bothered me. I dont know why. What kind of name is True? Anyways. I wanted to smack Bailey a few times. She kept second guessing her husband and she would think he did all the things people accused him of but then she would be like no, he is my husband, I have to trust him. Girlfriend knew her husband all of two minutes before she married him. She didn’t know him at all. And he kept lying to her and hiding things from her. Hello! Red flag! Honestly, I found myself not trusting hardly any of the characters. Any of them could have been the one who killed these girls. And I went back and forth on who I thought it was several times.
Bottom Line: This was a decent who done it. There were things about the book that annoyed me, but I was also hooked and had to know!!!

At the center of the whirlwind are four women, each grappling with loss, regret, shame, and lies: Marglyn, a grieving mother; Darcy, whose son had been behind the wheel; Ava, a substitute teacher with a scandalous secret; and Leah, a cheerleader who should have been in the car with her friends, but wasn’t.
So this book took me forever to read. I am not quite sure why? It was definitely a heavy subject and I found myself asking what I would do if I were these characters. The book sort of reads like Beartown in that it takes place in a small, gossip filled town and you get a lot of character development of many situations. This one passed the time just fine. I think I wanted it to be a little more of something, just not sure what? The premise of the book was really good.
Bottom Line: If you like to read small town drama, you would probably enjoy this one just fine.

This is just one short story. Dani shared a link on it on her blog and I really liked what she said about it. The fact that the author says when you are eleven, you are still ten, nine, eight, etc is how I feel about a birthday. I always say that I don’t actually feel like I am a grown up most of the time. And the anxiety that Rachel feels about not speaking up was totally me when I was younger, and still is today in some cases.
Bottom Line: This story literally only takes a few minutes to read and I feel would be enjoyed by anyone.
I still have yet to read the original Pride and Prejudice, but I seem to enjoy retellings of it. This book was so so cute! I found myself thinking about it when I wasn’t reading it, a sign of a good book. You get to know every last character in the book pretty well. Some of them you love, others you want to slap. It made all the side stories much more enjoyable. This book also touches on homophobia, racism, sexism, eating disorders, sperm donation. I wasn’t expecting the depth that it had! I didn’t even realize this was the forth in a series, it is very much a read alone book. The chapters in the book were very short, so it was easy for me to find breaks and good stopping places.
Bottom Line: Read it! I found this book witty and charming, and the characters are developed so well! Such a cute read!
So I have a confession to make. I had NO CLUE it was DST this weekend. I opened Facebook Saturday night because I had some notification bubbles and wanted to get rid of them, and it was the top thing on my feed. I was like wait, what???? I am not quite sure how I missed it. I hate DST and I think it is absolutely ridiculous that we still participate in this. And you know what is worse than trying to get yourself adjusted to a time change? Trying to get a kid who is very schedule/routine oriented to change too. Woof. Zoe had a WTF expression on her face when I came to wake her up this morning. I know. Its awful!
I kicked off Friday at SoHo Social with a good friend for lunch. They recently changed their menu and added a bunch of deliciousness. It was packed with the basketball games going on. I care nothing about those. I ordered a Spicy Cahaba burger and a side of maple bacon brussels. Best. Brussels. Ever.
Saturday we were busy getting some cleaning and straightening done around the house. I made some burritos for lunch. After Zoe woke up from her nap, we headed over to Laura’s house for some St Patty Day crafts and fun! Laura had glitter paint, which is the best thing ever! They made some rainbows and painted with their hands. It was so cute seeing S and Z play together. Zoe totally has no personal space boundaries and tried to sneak in a few hugs.
Sunday, we were up and at the grocery store early. We stopped at Sonic on the way home for a car dog for Chris and a diet cherry limeade for me. Delicious as always! We met with our realtor to talk about some things we can do around the house to get it market ready and came up with a listing price. Exciting things!!! After, we were starving and got to making some homemade pizzas. Chris always comes up with the best ideas for Sunday eats. We made a pepperoni and cheese one and a white pizza with alfredo sauce, chicken and green onion. They were yummy!
Another busy week at work this week. I have some doctors appointments scheduled, a lunch date on the books, and Zoe is having surgery on Friday to get tubes and maybe have her adenoids removed. I am so ready for the weekend already so we can relax some! I hope you all have wonderful week! Linking up with Biana.
I feel like this is the week that wouldn’t end! I am behind on everything. Work is slammed slammed slammed. I don’t know what happened but all of a sudden my WIP has quadrupled in size. I mean job security or whatever, but damn! Not to mention we had homeowner problems this week, adulting things we had to do, and Chris had his debit card hijacked or something. I dont know. Add to the mix the fact that Zoe has decided that she wants to act like a toddler now and throw herself on the ground every time she doesn’t get her way. Goodness. I am done and ready for the weekend and a glass of wine. You feel me?
Favorite Moments: Laura and I decided on Farm Bowl + Juice Co for lunch this week. We wanted to see what the acai bowl hype was all about. You guys, it’s legit!!! I was so surprised by how much I thoroughly enjoyed every last bite of the delicious bowl I ordered. I thought it was going to be more like yogurt, but it was so cold and more solid…reminded me of sherbet texture almost. Anyways, I am hooked and I think this is going to be the best refreshing lunch option on a hot Alabama summer day! Can’t wait to go back!
The amazing exterior wall and the gorgeous interior of the place doesn’t hurt either! They even have a swing out front that I plan to sit on next time. I am pretty sure I could get Zoe to eat one of these bowls filled with antioxidants too!
We have still been eating healthy during the week. Some of our eats included bbq chicken stuff baked potatoes (I tossed just a little blue cheese on mine to give it a little something) and meatballs with green beans and red wine vinegar quinoa with spinach.
Favorite Recipe: I would like to start incorporating more meatless meals into our rotation. How amazing do these tacos look? I mean…tacos!!!!
Favorite Purchase: Loft had 40% off their tops so I scooped up this striped racerback tank that fits SO good! It is sort of flowy and longer in the front and back to cover all the things you want covered. I think it is perfect for under cardigans/jackets or by itself with a bra-let or something underneath.
I also grabbed this azalea shell that is more of a gray/blue than the picture. It is such a gorgeous color and perfect for super hot days to wear alone, or under a cardigan/jacket for work. I have already worn both shirts twice.

We have all seen the Tasty videos being shared on Facebook. The ones you can’t help but watch. They get you salivating and ready for your next meal! I was excited when I saw that they had their own cookbook!
The book itself is filled with gorgeous pictures!! There are some recipes that have lots of pictures, and others that don’t. This is the perfect cookbook for hosting a party or tailgating during football season. This is probably the last cookbook you will pick up if you are on a diet. There aren’t too many waste friendly options. But YOLO! You have to enjoy and indulge sometimes, am I right? There are a few vegetarian options, so you definitely get something for everybody.
I think the recipe I am most excited to try are the carne asada fries! Basically fries covered in meat and all kinds of delicious toppings. The pastel glitter-bombed unicorn cake would have been perfect for Zoe’s birthday party!! The one thing I will say about the book, there is no rhyme or reason to the order of the recipes. They are sort of all over the place which makes narrowing down a specific meal a little hard.
