Friday Favorites

Favorite Song – Calvin Harris – Dollar Signs – Calvin Harris released his new album on 10/31. I can’t get enough of it on Spotify. Also, please note this is may be my last regular favorite song until after Christmas probably. I just love Christmas music!

Favorite Delivery – I received my Julep box last Friday or Saturday…the days run together sometimes. I am in love with all three colors that I received. I was pleasantly surprised when I opened the box to see two caramel cremes in there too. Damn it Julep! My mom and I used to LOVE snacking on these when I was in high school. Getting all nostalgic and shit. Moving on….

I think this might be my last Julep box. I have REALLY enjoyed them and have been happy with every single product that I have received from them. The price of the box ($24.99) it totally worth it for the products, it’s just that…finding time to paint my nails every week has become daunting. And basically that is what you have to do to keep up with all the new colors you get each month. Chris hates the smell so I can’t paint them when we are watching TV, and really…that is my only down time where I wont mess them up. I still highly recommend this box to anyone looking to expand their polish collection, and who knows…in a few months I might be back!

Favorite Mail: You guys!!!!! The retailers are killing me this week. Killing me. All these damn coupons are flooding in. Ones you loose money by not shopping with!!!! 60% off at the Loft Outlet?!?!? Yes, please!!!! A free $10 to spend at Charming Charlie? Don’t mind if I do! $50 off $100 at Tommy Bahama….Christmas presents for Chris have never been so easy. Maybe I need to break up with my mail box for awhile. It is too tempting!

Favorite Work Out – Today I did two Popsugar work outs and loved them both!

Five minute arms

Ten Minute Cardio – I dont mind it as much in ten minute increments!

Favorite Recipe – I made my black bean soup for the first time this season. Delicious!

Favorite Snack- You guys. You guys….Have you tried the brownie brittle? Seriously? AMAZING. Ah-mazzzzing. Just go get some and thank me later, k? My favorite so far has been the toffee. Just a little piece after dinner at night cures the sweet tooth like no ones business. I dont even think one piece is an entire serving size, and if you look at the calories and fat…it really isn’t too terrible. Sometimes a girl needs a little sumpin’ sumpin.’ You dig?

goals

Get Organized Up In Here

Last month’s choose your own adventure challenge was food. My goals were to

1. Cut back on alcohol to one to two drinks per week – There were at least two weeks this month where I had but not a drop of alcohol. I even attended a meeting at World of Beer last Wednesday and did not order a single beer. Score!

2. Cut back on dairy – While I have not completely cut dairy, and don’t plan too…..I only had coffee creamer in my coffee in the mornings and a little cheese here and there. I ate chili last week sans cheese, and I swapped out my morning yogurts for a banana. I don’t really notice a change and that is perhaps because I haven’t cut it completely. Cheese, I can’t quit you!

How did I do? Pretty well, I think. I have also cut done on my cheat meals, and we have been having salad for dinner at least a day or two each week.

This month’s adventure is organizing related. It couldn’t be better timed. I have been saying for months that I am going to organize the guest bedroom/dog room that is supposed to be “my office.” It has been on my seasonal goal list and by golly this month I plan to at least start tackling it!

In addition, there are two shelves in our kitchen pantry that are a mess. Why these two shelves can’t follow suit is beyond me, but I intend to get them up to snuff. As well as organize the cabinet next to our stove that has become the kitchen catch all. By that I mean, ohhhh people are coming over? Let’s shove everything we have in piles around the kitchen in here real quick.

I would like to get my blog stuff organized and my Pinterest boards cleaned up, but let’s not get crazy! If I just get done the stuff above I am doing good. Don’t want to get too lofty with my goals here, but I will keep those on the back burner.

What about you? Did you participate last month or have plans to this month? Let’s hold each other accountable, ok?

Confessions

–I first would like to confess how warm and fuzzy I feel after reading all of your comments throughout the day yesterday. All the love and virtual hugs I received was more appreciated that I can ever express to you guys! This is why I love the blogging community. I have the best readers on the entire planet. I was afraid to leave comments enabled in fear that I would cry each time I read one, but it was more therapeutic than anything. For that, I can’t thank you all enough.

–I seriously need to get my life together. I am behind on blog reading, I am behind on actual reading of books, I haven’t touched the unread magazine stack that keeps growing and growing, I have some projects I was supposed to finish last week that I haven’t even started, and I have zero posts ready in my drafts on this here blog. What on earth? Get your shit together, Nadine!!!!!!

–Speaking of getting it together, I have yet to buy the first Christmas present this year. Well, other than some joint presents that my sister and I get for some family. But that doesn’t even count because she is the one that did the work…I just handed her some money.

–I gave zero shits yesterday and skipped my work out. (Don’t worry, today was leg day and I am already waddling.)

–I also had two “fun sized” candy bars after lunch yesterday. Damn the people who bring candy and treats to work. I usually don’t even give most of it a second thought. But Snickers. And Butterfinger. Damnit!

Goodbye

Goodbyes are hard. Really hard. In fact, I hate goodbye. Usually when I am walking away from friends after a lunch or calling it a night, I say see you later. Because I have full intentions of seeing them later.

Yesterday was one of the hardest days I have had in a long time. Yesterday we had to say goodbye to Livvy. You see, ever since we brought her home, Chris has been sick. And as she has grown from a little baby kitten into a bigger kitty that sheds….he has gotten worse. In fact, he has had a sinus infection for like two months straight now.

I have tried everything. Sweeping the floors and dusting more often, washing the blankets on the couch to the point they are looking worn, keeping her out of our bedroom and keeping that door shut, brushing her fur. It doesn’t seem to help.

If I am being completely honest with myself, I know I am allergic to her too. I just ignore it and blame it on seasonal allergies. Which is a thing for me….but she made them worse.

We were determined to find her a home. She wasn’t leaving this house until she had a new family to go to. Luckily, one of Chris’s friends has a daughter and he wanted to have a cat for her. So yesterday evening, one of our friends came to pick her up to take her to him. I packed up all of her stuff, her toys, her food, her kitty perch, her litter box, everything went with her so she had some familiar things in her new home. Putting her in the crate to leave was so hard. She let out this horrible yelp when they closed the door. It was like she knew what was going on.

I cried all evening, I cried myself to sleep. I teared up this morning when Mac came out looking for her. I am crying as I type this. It was so hard to say goodbye to her. But I know that she now has a good home. It is what is best for her and for us.

I wasn’t going to say anything at all, but I know some of you comment and look forward to seeing pictures of her here and I just don’t think I can handle if someone asks me on Friday where her weekly pictures are.

Livvy, you are the prettiest little kitty there ever was. I miss you like crazy already, but I know that you are going to have a great, happy life. I love you Livvy kitty.

weekend shenanigans

Weekend Shenanigas – Disney On Ice Edition

Well, I am not sure about you guys….but having an extra hour this weekend was lovely, and I wish we could gain one every weekend!

Friday – Friday I took the day off work and chaperoned Cooper’s class to Disney On Ice. Cooper is my four year old nephew for those that may not have caught on to that. He is basically the cutest kid there ever was.

We had an amazing time. It is so cool to see the looks on all their faces when the first characters came out on the ice. When there was fire or someone flew they sat at the edge of their seats. When Goofy waved, the little boy that sat in front of us turned around and said “Look! Look! Goofy is waving at me!!!!”

The theme was Treasure Trove and they went through different movies, like Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan, Aladin, Toy Story, Tangled, Little Mermaid and Snow White. I loved every moment!

Saturday – I woke up early, cleaned the house and cut the front and side yard. I just have the back to do next weekend and hopefully that will be the last for the year. I felt so damn accomplished after the side yard. I was able to do the whole thing at one time, a first for me. Let’s me know that even if I don’t exactly see results from my work outs lately, I know I am getting in better shape! One day I need to take a picture of that side yard so you see what the big deal is!

I rewarded myself with a Caramel Creme Brulee, one of my favorite holiday drinks from Starbucks…in the pretty red cups of course!

I enjoyed an Ace Pumpkin Cider while catching some of the Georgia game.Sadly, it was a loss.

Sunday – When I woke up, I made myself a cup of Pumpkin Pie Spice coffee and sat down with my book that I haven’t had a chance to read much of lately. I got in several chapters and it felt great! I then made us some cinnamon rolls for breakfast and we watched some of our shows. We then meal planned and headed to the store to get our grocery shopping done for the week.

IMG_4085.JPG

Sunday evening I had to get some work done since I was out on Friday. I also did a little blogging work and answered all my emails. I am still a little behind on blog reading but hope to catch up this week!

We had some pumpkin cookies with white chocolate morsels this weekend too. I totally whipped out my winter cookie tray.

I hope everyone had a great weekend. Can you believe we are already into November?!
