Friday Favorites

Favorite Song: Until You Were Gone by the Chainsmokers. Roll down those weekends and enjoy the vibe!

Favorite Moment: Laura and I checked out Fancy’s on 5th last night. It is a new restaurant in Avondale and it. was. amazing. There was a line out the door before they even opened, so that tells you something! We were lucky enough to grab the last shared table in the back, right in front of the oyster bar. It was cool watching the guys shuck those things. Laura ordered oysters and I ordered a side salad to start the night, and we both tried one of their amazing burgers with fries. Everything was delightful, as well as our service. Check out how cool this place is…

Confessions

–I have become that person. That person that uses a sharpie to hide a grey hair. #hagstatus #itsnotweirdifitiworks

–We are doing some work in Michigan this week and several places have roads named 21 Mile Road, 33 Mile Road. I can’t help but think of Eminem and 8 Mile and feel all gangsta and bust out in rap in my head whilst working. #8Mile #Rabbit

–Does anyone else miss AIM chats? I mean, they were the coolest. And you had to have a super fun bio and cryptic away messages. What was your screenname? Obviously it was something totally cool. #AIMFOREVER #A/S/L

–Monday morning I was so tired that I used face wash instead of shampoo in my hair.  #caffeineneeded #sendhelp

–I don’t understand why people have to be rude in comments. I have to assume they are either a horrible person or they are an internet troll and their sole purpose is to bring others down. I have seen a few rude comments when I go to leave my comment on others blogs and I feel myself get all defensive for the person whose blog it is. Here is a free tip for you – If you don’t have anything nice to say, then don’t say anything at all. Disagreeing with something is fine, but there is no reason to be outright rude. #igotyourback #bitchesbecray #thatswack

–I have two unread emails in my blog comment email account and I can’t find them. It drives me insane because I am one of those people that likes to clear out all their messages so the notification thing goes away. It wont go away because of two said emails and I seriously have searched 50 pages back and cant find it. This is a huge problem for my OCD self!! #OCD #sorryifitwasyourcomment #whereiswaldo

weekend shenanigans

Weekend Shenanigans

The first weekend of April is here and gone and the south enjoyed the upper 60’s and lots of sunshine. I never complain about that! We had a nice balance of getting shit done and doing nothing at all. That’s the perfect weekend.

Friday, Laura and I hit up The Wooden Goat in Avondale. We have been wanting to try them since they opened, but up until this Wednesday they weren’t open for lunch. When Laura saw the announcement on Instagram that they were now doing lunch, we knew where we were headed Friday! Our food was amazing and I can’t wait to go back. I had a hard time deciding between the Korean BBQ Beef and the Indonesian Fried Noodles. I got the beef this time.

Friday night, Chris and I settled in to catch up on some of our shows and I made a quick gnocchi with red sauce.

IMG_8450

Saturday morning I stayed inside and cleaned, and Chris went outside to cut the grass. Obviously cutting the grass is a thing again, since this was our second time in two weeks. I also squeezed in a little time with Wooly Yoshi on the Wii U, then we headed downtown to grab a late lunch. Chris hadn’t been to Skycastle yet, so we went there. They have the best happy hour every day!!! From 3-6 you my favorite appetizer and meal, the fried pimento cheese balls with andoulsa sauasge and burger, are super cheap. You can also get any draft beer under 8% ABV for $3!

IMG_7738

IMG_8455

They house made pickles are worthy of mentioning as well. Nothing I love more than house made bread and butter pickles! I have got to learn how to make them myself some day.

After that, we headed over to World of Beer to catch up with our favorite bartender who we haven’t seen in months.

Sunday was meal planning, grocery shopping and food prep. I made a Vegetarian Quinoa Enchilada Casserole to take for lunches this week.

IMG_8470

A Paleo Pumpkin Coffee Cake using almond flour, coconut flour and coconut sugar for breakfast. (AMAZING!!!!!)

IMG_8461

And some sweet potato gnocchi with a butter sage sauce for dinner.

IMG_8467

Gnocchi twice in one weekend, a new record!

The rest of the day was spent watching tv, cleaning up some of the guest room, finishing a book, and taking an hour nap in the afternoon.

I hope you all had a fabulous weekend! Linking up with Biana.

Favorite Beauty Product: Have you guys heard of Paula’s Choice? I have purchased several products from their site and use Beautypedia to check out reviews on many skin care products that I am looking at buying. BzzAgent sent me Paula’s Choice 2% BHA Liquid to try, and I have to say that I am loving it!!!! After using it for a few weeks, I noticed that my skin was looking healthier and the appearance of my pores was starting to diminish completely.

It is so important to exfoliate your skin to keep it balanced and happy. When you exfoliate you increase your cell turnover rate, allow for other products to do their job better, and help cure dull and flaky skin as well as clogged pores. Exfoliating with a product like BHA is also supposed to help fight signs of aging, and who doesn’t want that?

Paula’s Choice has given me a code to share with all of you to get 20% off your purchase on their site!!! Just enter PRBHA16 at check out and enjoy shopping for some great products!!!
