Weekend Shenanigans

We didn’t have anything planned for this weekend with the exception of our nephew’s birthday party. We decided to get our grocery shopping knocked out on Saturday since it was supposed to rain Sunday. We actually did a lot of adulting on Saturday. Chris had some work done on his car, we grocery shopped, we worked out in the yard during Zoe’s nap. Knocked some stuff off the to do list.

We snacked on lots of things Saturday. I made spinach and artichoke dip, bacon jalapeno dip and some BBQ wieners.

Zoe had fun riding around on her car and coloring in her Sofia the First book.

Sunday we hung around the house in the morning and got Zoe down for her nap early. I got the floors cleaned, the house dusted and the kitchen cleaned. I caught up on the rest of the 15 loads of laundry we do every week. (it’s really only like 5…but still) We woke Zoe up early from her nap so that we could go to our nephews birthday party. It was rainy and gross all day yesterday so when we got back, we just hung around the house and played until Zoe’s bath and bedtime. We had some delicious spaghetti for dinner. I made it with chickpea noodles. Have you tried them? A lot more protein and fiber and a lot less carbs than regular noodles. They actually had a lot of flavor and I liked the texture. We will definitely be making them again!

Linking up with Biana. I hope you all had a wonderful weekend!

Weekend Shenanigans

It was 36 degrees when I woke up this  morning. It was over 80 just the other day, and supposed to be 80 again tomorrow. Get it together, spring!!! Winter is hanging on like a clingy ex, isn’t it??? We had a good weekend over here. It was a good mix of cleaning all the things, catching up on some good TV, seeing lots of family, and relaxing.

Friday started with lunch at SoHo Social with a friend/old co-worker. If someone asks me what my favorite restaurant is in Birmingham, I can’t give you just one. But this one would be on my top five list for sure. I got the three bacon BLT with pimento cheese, sans the L and T and grilled on rye bread. OMG!!!! I was only able to eat half of it, because I loaded up on brussels, and the other half was perfect for Saturday morning breakfast in the toaster oven!

Saturday morning we decided to get all our grocery shopping done since the rest of the weekend was supposed to be nasty and rainy. Of course that means a trip to Target! Zoe knows what’s up when she sees that bullseye.

In true first world fashion, I was too exhausted from spending a ridiculous amount on groceries to come home and cook lunch. So we grabbed some Moe’s BBQ to go. Mmmmmm

Zoe took a 3+ hour nap on Saturday, so I was able to get ALLLLLL the cleaning done!!! It was fabulous.

Sunday morning, my sister came over to visit for a little while. We then met up with Chris’s parents for lunch at our favorite Mexican place. Zoe is a fan of rice, beans and tacos. I mean…she is our kid! Apparently this is her newest pose, not looking at the camera.

Sunday afternoon my dad stopped by to visit and brought Zoe a few goodies for Easter. He got her the cutest stuffed bunny, an Easter book, and of course…peeps. Just when I thought all the candy was out of the house. You know I am going to be in that, right?? It was nice getting to spend some time with him. The rest of the day was spent playing, watching too much Puppy Dog Pals and Vampirina, and catching up on the Chicago shows and Grey’s when Zoe went to bed.

Just like that, Monday is here and it is back to reality. Linking up with Biana. I hope you all had a wonderful weekend!

Weekend Shenanigans

Another weekend here and gone in a blink of an eye. I cant even remember what I did Friday night other than make sausage, peppers and onions for dinner. So there is that. The weather was weird, cold and rainy Saturday and mostly decent yesterday.

Saturday we had gotten some things done around the house. During Zoe’s nap I deconstructed her baby swing and stored it in the garage, along with a few other items she no longer needs. I also put away the Easter stuff and vacuumed out my car. Chris had some work to do with a friend, and some of his own stuff to do around the house. So when Zoe woke up, her and I had a girls afternoon out. We went to TJ Maxx and went ahead and got all our grocery shopping done while we were out. We picked up a new comforter for our bedroom, a few new bath towels, a romper for Zoe, a dress for me, a cast iron skillet, a new rug for in front of the bath tub. It was quite the successful trip! We had also squeezed in a little coloring time. Color Wonder markers are the best invention ever.

Saturday night, Chris had his friend come over to help me work on something. I really appreciate his time and efforts!! And Chris for setting it up. I also had a glass of wine (or two) and made pigs in a blanket for dinner and tried to let the week roll off my shoulders some. I don’t know what it was about last week, but it wasn’t my favorite.

Sunday was going to be a designated grass cutting day. The first of the season. But Chris had taken apart our lawnmower and realized we needed  a new  belt and promptly called our old lawn guy from when I was pregnant and scheduled him to come out on Tuesday. That left us with the day wide open. We were both craving Thai tea, so we headed out to Saigon Noodle House in Avondale and snacked on some egg rolls and Thai tea, before doing a little shoe shopping for him.

We also strolled through the flea market in Leeds, and when we got home, Chris grilled out some amazing burgers for a late lunch. Zoe wasn’t having anything to do with a nap yesterday, as she was teething something terrible, so we all just hung out around the house for the afternoon. For dinner I made a keto pizza recipe that I cant wait to share with you all this week! It was so easy and delicious! I paired it with a Caesar salad and we caught up on Scandal and Grey’s.

And just like that, the weekend was over. I finished up my favorite book that I have read so far this year this morning, listened to way too much 90’s hip hop, and warned Zoe’s teachers that she may have another tough teething day ahead. It’s Monday and I am trying to look at it as a clean slate. I hope you all have a wonderful week! Linking up with Biana.

TBB Asks – Spring and Easter Shenanigans

Hey there April!!! I hope you all had a wonderful Easter! This weekend went by so quickly, I am not even sure how it is Monday already. Yet, here we are. This weekend was full of snuggles, Easter activities, seeing family, eating lots of cookies and candy, snapping some spring photos of Zoe and cleaning up around the house.

My sister came over to visit us Friday morning and brought Zoe a huge umbrella full of Easter clothes, shoes and some toys too. She spoils Zoe with all the things!

Saturday morning my mom came over to spend some time with us. We haven’t seen her since Christmas, so it was nice to just sit with her and get to talk. She brought Zoe some really cute spring/summer outfits. While she was there, we baked some sugar cookies with Zoe! My mom passed her epic recipe down to me, and I had made the dough up the night before and decided to share in the joy that is decorating with Zoe. She had a BLAST!!! It was special sharing that moment with my mom.

We had made a Sam’s club run before my mom came over and purchased some new shelving for our living room to clean up all the toys. Step on in operation stage the home. I am still working on cleaning and decorating it, but look how much better it is already!

We ended up staying home on Sunday. The Easter bunny spoiled Zoe with lots of fun things. She was so cute taking each item out, one at a time.

Zoe was in a really good mood after she woke up from her afternoon nap and we were able to get a quick spring photo shoot.

We also tested out her new bubble gun.

And just like that, we are back to reality. So harsh, right??? I am linking up with Biana for my weekend, and also Andrea for TBB Asks. Who doesn’t love a good spring Q&A?  Happy Birthday to Andrea!!!!

I do. It is a beast of a yard to take care of and SUCH a good work out! I don’t mind it most of the time.

5. What’s Spring Like where you live?

Green and hottttt. And by green, I mean covered in pollen. We have a few nice weeks and then its basically summer.

6. What’s Your favorite thing about Spring?

The nice temperatures before it gets too hot and the beautiful flowers that bloom.

7. Are you a Spring Cleaner?

Sort of. I do a big purge every season.

Ugh, I hate baseball. It is so boring!

9. Tulips or Daffodils

Tulips!!! Tulips are one of my absolute favorite flowers.

10. Favorite Outdoor Spring Activity?

Patio day drinking.

I hate birds, they creep me out. Haven’t you ever seen the movie Birds??? Just no.

I used to only wash my car at  home. I had all the stuff and could physically do it so why not? Now, I just don’t have the time for that shit. My car gets washed once, maybe twice a year. And even taking it somewhere is such a pain. Who has time to wait???

14. When Do You pull out Your sandals?

Easter, sometimes sooner depending on the weather and how later Easter happens.

Weekend Shenanigans

I cant even believe it, my baby sister is going to be 30 tomorrow!!! She’d probably kill me for putting that out there on the internet, but like how old do I sound saying my baby sister is 30??? She is the best sister in the whole world and I am so so so so so thankful for her and the relationship that we have. I speak to her several times a week and if there is one family member that you can count on out of everyone, it is my sister. She is so incredible. And seeing her relationship bloom with Zoe is my favorite. Zoe will actually choose her over me sometimes, and that never happens with anyone other than Chris. So that is saying something. Tracy, if you are reading this post…I love you! Happy Birthday!

Speaking of age, you guys!!! Chris and I stopped at Publix this weekend to pick up a few things and we had beer. The cashier got to the beer, and I was messing with Zoe in the cart and had my face turned and I saw her looking at me out of the corner of my eye so I looked over and I was like oh, do you need my ID? And she was like yes, please! I grabbed it and gave it to her and she was like ummmm if you say so and looked all confused. I was like really?????? Most days I dont even have people ask for my ID. It’s something with my new hair, I dont know if it is the cut or color but I am thinking this is how I need to keep it! Made me feel so good, and young, walking out of there! Oh, and I barely had any makeup on. Just eye make up and BB cream.

Friday I met up with my two friends who still live in state from the Friday Lunch Club! It has been awhile since we were all together and it felt so good. I love those girls, they are truly amazing. We met up at Urban and I ordered the delicious Very Berry Salad with turkey. We vowed that we need to make it a more regular thing again.

Saturday I was up early and had the floors cleaned, counters wiped down and a load of laundry going before 630am. I also started a new book and managed to read a few chapters with my coffee before Zoe woke up. I love mornings like that. I felt so accomplished. Other than dishes and more laundry, it was all I really accomplished all weekend though lol. Saturday afternoon we headed over to Chris’s parents house and hung out with them for a little while. When we got home and got Zoe to bed, Chris and I hung out listening to the 90’s Nation on MTV Classic. Have you guys checked out that channel? Amazing!!!! I even poured myself an amaretto sour!

Sunday we hit up Target for our groceries for the week. They are doing $10 off a food purchase of $50 or more this week! I love when they do that! We came home and made homemade pizzas for lunch. Delicious! I kept myself in check and had a sensible spinach salad for dinner.

Linking up with Biana. I hope you guys have a great week!! Can’t believe Easter is next weekend!!!
