Target Beauty Empties

My empties bin is overflowing right now. I was able to take three sets of pictures for three separate posts. First up, I am going to share my Target empties. I will have a high end one and a makeup one coming up soon!

Garnier® SKINACTIVE Micellar Cleansing Water All-in-1 Makeup Remover & Cleanser

As you can see, I used three bottles of this stuff since the last empties. For the price, it is excellent at removing makeup. Works really well for eye make up too. I like using Boscia Cleansing Oil and Cliniques Cleansing Balm. But again, I prefer the price of the Garnier for the same results.

up & up Eye Makeup Remover

I feel like this is good as any of the drugstore eye make up removers for less money, so I continue to purchase this on the regular. I prefer Clinique or Lancome over this, but don’t feel like paying so much for it. I try to get them in free gifts for purchase, and grab this one when I am out of everything else.

Vaseline Rosy Lip Therapy

I have been using this stuff for years. You wont find better results for your money. It goes on smooth, lasts for a long time and smells amazing. I have a few of them stashed around the house. Added  bonus: it gives you the slightest bit of color!

Nexxus Color Assure Shampoo

I actually picked this up at Walgreens, but they have it at Target too. I like this shampoo alright. I have used it off and on for years. There is nothing all that special about it. It works well for color treated hair and smells nice, but again, so do a lot of others out there.

OGX® Fade-Defying + Orchid Oil Shampoo

I have used a few bottles of this shampoo. I enjoy it alright for the price, but it isn’t as moisturizing as I would like it to be. I tend to switch this out with something more high end a few days a week to balance it out. It smells amazing and lasts a long time.

Eva NYC Mane Magic 10-IN-1 Primer

I had received this sample size in a Influenster box, but am purchasing the full size one at Target. For the price, it does a lot and detangles like magic. It says it detangles, nourishes, strengthens, softens, cuts drying time, adds shine, reduces frizz, and protects against thermal, environmental and uv damage. Argan oil feeds hair with vitamins and nutrients, while sunflower seed oil repairs, nourishes and protects. Hair is left smooth, manageable and shiny. I really love the smell of it too. Pretty packaging never hurt anyone either.

Method Body Wash Pure Peace

I absolutely love this body wash! Probably one of my most recent favorites. This stuff smells amazing and is Aluminum-free, dye-free, paraben-free, triclosan-free, and phthalate-free. It is made with rose water and I really liked how my skin felt afterwards. Again, it wins on packaging as well.

Raw Sugar Body Wash Raw Coconut + Mango

Another one with beautiful packaging. You can feel good about this purchase because 25% of Raw Sugar’s bottle packaging is made out of post-consumer recycled materials, and bottle caps are sustainably-sourced natural bamboo. As part of the Raw Sugar Initiative-a fresh bar of soap is donated to a family in need for every product sold. This stuff smells amazing and is Ethyl alcohol-free, aluminum-free, DMDM Hydantoin-free, hypoallergenic, lanolin-free, dye-free, gluten-free, non-toxic, paraben-free, Petroleum-free, sodium lauryl sulfate-free, Talcum-free, Sulfate-free, artificial color-free, mineral oil-free, propylene glycol-free, vegan, phthalate-free, fluoride-free, contains coconut milk, animal by-product-free, formaldehyde donor-free, certified organic, formaldehyde-free, contains coconut oil, propylparaben-free, butylparaben-free, nonylphenol ethoxylate free, contains naturally derived ingredients, diethanolamine-free. You really cant go wrong. I have been switching it up with this one and the Method one above.

Have you tried any of these? What are you loving lately?

weekend shenanigans

Weekend Shenanigans

I am going in to today knowing that there is a three day weekend coming up. That little light at the end of a week long tunnel!!! It helps!! For now anyways. How was your weekend? Ours was good. I decided to start out Friday right by surprising Chris with some delicious beers to kick off the weekend! I stopped by Hop City after work and picked up Trim Tab’s Margarita Gose and Anderson Valley’s Framboise Rose Gose. I am always in the mood for a sour, and Chris has been really in to them too. They were both delicious and  unique in their own ways.

Saturday morning was my usual get up before everyone else and get as much of the house cleaned as possible routine. I knocked out the floors, dusting and kitchen before Zoe woke up. Success! I also did four loads of laundry. Chris had to do some work with a co-worker Saturday morning, so he headed out while I stayed home with Zoe and played, fed her lunch and got her down for her nap. I knocked out the bathrooms while she napped and got ready. When she woke up, we headed to Leeds to catch the end of a car show. We knew someone who had a car in the show and wanted to show our support. It was hot AF on Saturday and I am glad we didn’t stay very long. I am already over summer. We have had about three weeks straight of 90 degree temps and it is brutal!

After the car show, we headed over to Homewood to grab a late lunch at SoHo Social. It is one of my favorite spots. They have amazing sweet potato fries with jalapeno gorgonzola cheese dip. And they have the BEST brussels around! I ordered the 3 bacon pimento BLT, and kicked off the L and T. So good!!!!

After lunch, we headed over to Bargain Hunt. Zoe has had her eye on the Vamparina Spookeylele and I saw one sitting on a random shelf for half the price that it is at Target right now. Score!!!! She was soooooo excited and literally pressed buttons on it the entire way through the store, and the whole ride home.

We knocked out our grocery shopping early Sunday morning, and were home by 10:30am. Chris threw some hot dogs on the grill for lunch and they were delicious!!!!

After Zoe woke up from her nap, we played with bubbles outside for awhile and took a little walk. She loves to play outside, and is even more obsessed with sunglasses.

Sunday evening, we had some Banza chickpea ziti with marinara sauce and got caught up on some of our shows.

I always hate the Sunday blues and tried my hardest to keep them at bay and just soak up what was left of the weekend! I am linking up with Biana for Weekending. Hang in there and think THREE DAY WEEKEND!!!!

friday favorites

Friday Favorites

Yanny or Laurel, anyone? Obviously it is Laurel, I am not an animal. It has been a week. Work is busy, adulting is hard, it has been rainy and gross, and I am ready for the weekend! I am not sure what we are doing this weekend, I am just glad to have a little break!

Favorite Moments: Chris’s birthday was Monday. Every year, we each pick up two slices of cookie cake for each other’s birthdays. Cookie cake is LIFE! We choose to do individual slices because there is zero self control (at least on my end) when it comes to cookie cake sitting around. It sucks when your birthday falls on a Monday, but this hopefully made it a little better!

On Tuesday, my cube neighbor brought me beautiful hydrangeas. How sweet is she????? They still look like this today!

Laura and I hit up Urban Cookhouse on Wednesday for lunch. It is highly likely that I will order the Very Berry Salad with grilled turkey every. single. time. SO GOOD. What is it about salad from a restaurant that is so much better than one you can make at home?

Laura brought me the cutest cup back from her trip to San Fran, and she got Zoe a super fun purple tshirt that received squeals when presented to her. I love coffee cups that are big enough to hold 12 ounces and some frothed milk 🙂

Zoe and I stopped for some frozen yogurt at Yogurt Mountain that afternoon. She was so excited when she saw all the different toppings and yogurt flavors. She kept pointing and saying “me me me me!!!!” She was more excited about her blueberries and nilla wafer than the actual yogurt itself. She loved sitting there though, she is such a people watcher. I am sure we will visit a few times this summer.

Her eye is a little swollen in these pictures, we had a doctors appointment to get it checked out. Silly allergies.

Yesterday I had lunch at Farm Bowl with a friend. Having an acai bowl for lunch is seriously such a treat! I cant even tell  you how many times I laughed. So good for the soul.

Favorite Recipe: How good does this sweet potato enchilada skillet look?

Spiralized Sweet Potato Enchilada Skillet, an easy vegetarian dinner recipe made with spiralizer sweet potato noodles that cooks in one pot and is ready in 30 minutes!

Favorite Lust: These double frayed jeans from the Loft are so cute on. I regret not purchasing them when I was there last week and might need to go back for them next time they are running a sale.

I really like the height of these wedges. They aren’t very high at all, and the ankle strap is stretchy with no buckle. The gunmetal color would match so many things. I saw them at Macy’s, but I know other places carry them also. Thoughts?

recipe

Zucchini Enchiladas

This was a super quick and easy recipe that tasted delicious! I didn’t miss the flour tortillas at all. You could make this so many different ways, we used chicken. I think having black beans and other veggies would be a great meatless Monday meal. Or doing some beef would be good too! Whatever you have on hand.

What You Need

cooked shredded chicken breast – I had bought a package around a pound, maybe a little less, of thin chicken breasts from the grocery store and cooked them in some chicken broth in the crock pot on low for 8 hours while we were gone during the day. You could also use a rotisserie chicken to make it even easier! Or boil some on the stove.

2-3 zucchini

1 can enchilada sauce

2 cloves minced garlic

2 tsp chili powder

2 tsp cumin

1 tsp salt

shredded cheese – I used a cheddar jack mixture

What You Do

–Preheat oven to 350 degrees and spray your baking dish with cooking spray.

–Heat chicken in skillet along with the salt, minced garlic, chili powder, cumin, 1 cup of cheese and 1 cup of the enchilada sauce. Stir for around 5 minutes.

–While that is cooking, using a veggie peeler and slice out your zucchini

–Take three zucchini slices and lay them horizontally flat, overlapping them just a little. Spoon in the chicken mixture to the middle, and close up the enchilada by wrapping the sides around. Lay them with the wrapped side facing down into your baking dish.

–Once they are all rolled up, drizzle the remaining enchilada sauce and sprinkle with some additional cheese.

–Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes.

ENJOY!!!!

Weekend Shenanigans

First off, should out to Chris today!!!! It’s his birthday 🙂 Happy Birthday!!!!!! We will throw it back old school with a picture from the first few months we started dating. I wouldn’t want to do life with anyone else.

Friday started off with lunch at Chicken Salad Chick with Laura.

Saturday morning I was up and had the house cleaned before Zoe woke up. My sister came over in the afternoon to watch Zoe so Chris and I could have our very first date. just the two of us, since Zoe was born. Almost 18 months ago. Crazy how long has past!!!! We started out at Bird’s for a few drinks and an appetizer. I finally got to try Frose. I have been wanting one since they were popping up all over the place last summer. Now that I know Bird’s has them….and delicious ones!!!!!…I have a feeling they will be happening more often! This place is walking distance from my office, so that doesn’t hut 😉 After Birds, we headed over to Paramount for a little while and sat on their patio. Chris’s co-worker came and joined us for a little bit. It was fun getting to know someone I hear so much about. After that, we headed to Crazy Horse for dinner. We had a fun evening and I am so thankful for my sister who took such good care of Zoe. They had so much fun, I doubt she even missed us.

And when we got home, Tracy had the dishwasher ran, the living room and Zoe’s roomed cleaned up…..and this adorable art work sitting on the counter that she made with Zoe while we were gone. I seriously have the best, most thoughtful sister ever.

Three of those pictures Tracy took when we were gone. Zoe was totally content.

Sunday morning we had to run out the store as soon as they opened so that we could get back and get Zoe down for an early nap. That didn’t turn out so well, she wouldn’t take a nap when we got back. We headed over to Chris’s sister’s house for a Mother’s Day lunch with a lot of his family. Zoe did pretty well over all, considering no naps were  head. She passed out in the car promptly when we left. We decided to take a ride up to Pell City and check out the new Bargain Hunt and let Zoe nap for awhile longer. I knew if we got her home, she wouldn’t want to go back down. We scored two shirts for Zoe, a water bottle for Chris and a Nepresso machine!!!!! Such an awesome bargain!

We stopped at Sonic for some drinks afterwards. It got hot and steamy in a hurry this year. It was in the mid 90’s yesterday and I was dying! So much for spring. When we got home, it was already time to get Zoe dinner and start the bed time routine. Chris and I had Zucchini Enchiladas for dinner. They weren’t that hard to make and were super tasty!!! I might share the recipe this week if I can get my life together and get the post out.

We watched Grey’s last night, and of course I cried like half the episode. I hate when main characters are on their way out.  That and This is Us….it never fails. I always cry!

Back to the grind this morning. I always hate when birthdays fall during the work week, but especially Monday. Poor Chris! I am going to grab some cookie cake slices today though, and make it at least a little special! I hope you all had a great weekend! Happy Mother’s Day to everyone out there. For those who are mothers, mothers to be, mothers trying to conceive, mothers who have had a loss. You are all the real MVP’s of the world! Linking up with Biana.
