Weekend Shenanigans

Can you believe this is the last week of April?

To be honest, I hate seeing the date April 27th. I have written a post on the events of April 27, 2011 here, for those of you who do not live in the south and may not know what went down. (Some of the pictures were lost when I transferred over from blogger.) I am thankful every day that my sister, brother-in-law, nieces, nephews and my dad are all still here. The people who were lost that day will never be forgotten.

This morning the sun is bright and shining and it looks like it is going to be a pretty day, so there’s that! Moving along…

This weekend we stayed pretty chill. Friday night we got caught up on some of our shows and headed to bed pretty early.

Saturday we celebrated our nephew’s 5th birthday party at Chuck E Cheese. Chris ended up getting us a bunch of tokens, so we played a lot of games and gave the birthday boy all of our tickets. After, we headed over to my sister-in-laws house and helped them unload all the birthday stuff and hung around for several hours just sitting and chatting on her back porch. One of the great pleasures of living in the south is all the porch time we can enjoy with the weather!

After breakfast on Sunday, I headed outside to cut the grass. I only got the front and side done…damn pollen and weeds! My allergies were going crazy yesterday. We got our meal planning and grocery shopping done and settled in for some movies! We watched This is the End and Neighbors. Both movies were decent. This is the End had some really stupid parts, but also some really funny parts. And I loved how the movie ended. Everything is better with a performance from BSB!!!

And that was my weekend folks! Those of you who curse me for my food porn on the weekends shall be happy there were no food pictures to be seen here today. Trying to keep myself in check. This girl had zero birthday cake this weekend.

I hope everyone has a fabulous week!!!

Linking up with Biana.

Oh my goodness, just read your previous post about April 27th, I am so sorry for your family’s loss! I remember hearing about all of that when it happened and then we were driving right through that area shortly after (on our way to visit family in Tulsa) and we were stunned by the damage. My husband grew up in OK so he knows how sudden and devastating tornadoes can be.

So glad you had a good weekend though! Bravo on not having birthday cake, that’s some awesome self control! 🙂

Sounds nice and relaxing to me! The pollen has been crazy here as well and is messing with everyone’s allergies.

I remember going to chuck E cheese for birthday parties when I was younger and i just wish my sister would have one there for my nieces and nephew lol!! I haven’t had any issues with my allergies yet, but that’s because it’s not warm enough lol – so there’s that! Happy Monday! xo, Biana – BlovedBoston

That movie – when he wished for BSB – I died laughing – I just couldn’t help it.

I was going to make jokes about cake and then I read your other post and now I guess I don’t know what to say except I’m so incredibly sorry for what happened a few years ago and I hope you manage to make it through the day without too many bad memories.

I’d wish for that too 🙂 Boy Bands forever 🙂

I hate dates that just hit you & bring back all the heartache. April 20th is a date for me… it’s always hard.

I was about to say where are my burger and tots pictures???? I am happy you are eating well but I know it’s tough on the weekends! I wish I would have gone to that BSB concert comeback they did a little while ago!

I feel like I need to watch This is the End again, I bet it’s one of those that gets funnier every time and you catch more things. And Neighbors – I LOVED that one, probably because I spent way to much time at fraternities in college and it cracked me up seeing their version of it. Sounds like a good weekend !

I had never read your story before about the tornados, I am so sorry to hear about all the destruction and your sister’s loss. I remember that day, and just being in awe of how horrible it all was. I hope we never see destruction like that again.

I feel like I need to give “This is the End” another chance, I turned it off about 20-30 minutes into it because it seemed so stupid. But I have heard good things, 2nd chances are a good thing!

Have a fabulous week gurlie <3

Sending you a big hug and hoping today takes it easy on you. <3 oh and I just watched Neighbors recently too and liked it more than I thought I would. I have a weird thing for Seth Rogan though, so maybe that's why 😉

NO birthday cake! BLAH. I love me some cake. I felt bad you had to go to the House of the Mouse though.

    Hugs to you today.

Chuck E Cheese is so crazy but glad they had fun and getting to rack up the tickets! Allergies are the worst, hope you are feeling better. I recorded the neighbors but haven’t watched it yet.

Sending hugs your way on this tough day! I remember those tornadoes. So crazy and so sorry for your family’s loss.

Your weekend sounds relaxing – and I have to admit I’m a little jealous of your Chuck E Cheese trip. We have no small relatives nearby to experience all of that fun “kid” stuff with!

My allergies have totally been kicking up this week (and of course, right before my major annual work event), so I can relate! Hope your week is off to a good start!

omg i would see this movie just for that scene. that is hilarious!! allergy city over here too. even my dog has them!

  • Reply Heather April 28, 2015 at 1:05 pm

Congrats on not giving into the cake! Our dog is an allergy sufferer, poor guy so I feel for you. Just read through your powerful April 27th and even though I had heard you talk about it before it was still heartbreaking. You never forget something like that, you just learn to live with it. Thanks so much for sharing your story with us. As for Chuck E Cheese – I love that you guys played games and gave the bday boy the tickets to spend!!
