goals

Get Organized Up In Here

Last month’s choose your own adventure challenge was food. My goals were to

1. Cut back on alcohol to one to two drinks per week – There were at least two weeks this month where I had but not a drop of alcohol. I even attended a meeting at World of Beer last Wednesday and did not order a single beer. Score!

2. Cut back on dairy – While I have not completely cut dairy, and don’t plan too…..I only had coffee creamer in my coffee in the mornings and a little cheese here and there. I ate chili last week sans cheese, and I swapped out my morning yogurts for a banana. I don’t really notice a change and that is perhaps because I haven’t cut it completely. Cheese, I can’t quit you!

How did I do? Pretty well, I think. I have also cut done on my cheat meals, and we have been having salad for dinner at least a day or two each week.

This month’s adventure is organizing related. It couldn’t be better timed. I have been saying for months that I am going to organize the guest bedroom/dog room that is supposed to be “my office.” It has been on my seasonal goal list and by golly this month I plan to at least start tackling it!

In addition, there are two shelves in our kitchen pantry that are a mess. Why these two shelves can’t follow suit is beyond me, but I intend to get them up to snuff. As well as organize the cabinet next to our stove that has become the kitchen catch all. By that I mean, ohhhh people are coming over? Let’s shove everything we have in piles around the kitchen in here real quick.

I would like to get my blog stuff organized and my Pinterest boards cleaned up, but let’s not get crazy! If I just get done the stuff above I am doing good. Don’t want to get too lofty with my goals here, but I will keep those on the back burner.

What about you? Did you participate last month or have plans to this month? Let’s hold each other accountable, ok?

I feel like my whole house could use some organizing including my Pinterest boards and blog but let’s be serious it’s holiday season and the weekends are booked! I am lucky if I don’t spend every available free moment watching holiday movies than organizing. 😉

Why can’t I quit you either cheese???? That is seriously the only dairy I have and I can’t get rid of it!!! Especially when Trader Joe’s puts truffles in it!!

Oh my gosh, I so need to quit dairy but it’s too delicious! I don’t know if I can face life without cheese, yogurt, and coffee creamer.

girl, i’m already ahead of the organizing game!

also cheese – omg so addictive. i don’t eat much dairy since it affects my skin but if it didn’t, i’d be in big trouble!

Cheese is something I will never be able to quit. I literally eat something with cheese on it everyday. And I am in need of organizing my house as well..that is my plan for Friday night. I am going to get a bottle of wine and do some damage!

There is no way I can get all my organizing done by the end of this month, I might take a stab at Little K’s room though so I can make room for new Christmas toys!

I also should do my Pinterest boards but it feels so overwhelming!

I’ve never considered quitting cheese and can say with certainty I never will. LOL I think you did well!

My kitchen is in my sights this weekend! Organizing up in HURR.

I love this–monthly challenges! What a great idea! I’m impressed with your food challenges–the dairy thing is hard for me too. But it’s easy once i’m reminded WHY I shouldn’t have it. I had enchiladas for lunch the other day (homemade) with some cheese on them, and I hated myself the rest of the afternoon–my stomach hurt SO DAMN BAD. I love cheese. It HATES me. Good luck with the organizing! I think my challenge this month is going to be getting a grip on my schedule and sticking to it!

Quit cheese? That’s blasphemy! You kicked ass with the food goals. I should have linked up last month – I wanted to bake and ended up not doing anything because there was nothing pushing me to. Oh well.

My kitchen is one of my biggest sources of dissatisfaction right now! We just have too much stuff for the space we have. It wasn’t so bad when it was just me and Ryan, but now with a roommate who likes to bake, we have all this random stuff – Bundt pans, decorative frostings and food dyes, every kind of sugar under the sun (partially my fault), and at least 3 boxes of baking soda. I’m not sure if it’s even fixable until we have a little more space.

Haha I can never quit cheese. I love it too much. Good luck this month! Organizing pinterest boards is so oddly satisfying, I hope you get to it. I do it all the time – delete pins, move boards around, it’s fun.

Am I wrong in thinking that not ordering beer at World of Beer is NOT a win? I consider that a loss my friend. I am a terrible eater though and have no self control so you should note that when taking my advice.

Just saw this over at Steph’s blog – I am considering doing this as well – I mean – set some goals – and see how I do.
    Couldn’t hurt? RIGHT?

I love your goals. I love what you want to do – and I think they are all reasonable.

    Organize pinterest – Oh man…. I giggled.

My Pinterest boards are a disaster and are on my list to reorganize this month. I figure if I can work on them a little bit each night while we’re watching TV (provided I can get all my blogging and writing stuff done during the day), I can get it done. The rest are definitely weekend projects. I didn’t even put my desk on the list because it’s a month project all by itself!

Good job on the food challenge! Cheese is too delicious to give up.

Quitting cheese will never happen. I might be slightly lactose intolerant, but I’m also kind of a masochist and I LOVE CHEESE. Good on you for even attempting to cut back and for your other wins last month! Good luck with the November challenge 🙂

That is pretty impressive to be in World of Beers and order *no* beers. I saw this vegetarian cheese at the store. It is dairy free and I thought it looked gross but my friends say they have had it and they like it. Maybe you can have that cheese?

My Pinterest boards are a mess… I’ve really changed how I use it, not just indiscriminately pinning stuff that looks cool like I did when I first started using it. But — that’s WAY down on my priority list of things to get organized!

  • Reply Wendy@BlushandBarbells November 7, 2014 at 2:03 am

    Quit cheese? What? No comprendo.

  • Reply Kristin November 7, 2014 at 2:57 am

I have selective OCD too. Don’t you dare track dirt on my floors, but my clothes are piled high on the floor of my closet. Ugh. Terrible affliction.

  • Reply Jackie November 7, 2014 at 3:18 am

I can’t imagine having an organized pantry. Mine just has crap everywhere.

  • Reply Joy November 7, 2014 at 3:31 am

Pinterest just makes me mad. I have all this stuff pinned and it just sits there looking pretty like I’m some really cool chick. FYI — I’m not that girl! Eeeerrrr — dang you pinterest!!

It sounds like your goals are going to be fun to tackle. My office is the place where everything gets piled when people are coming over. I would love to get a handle on all the disorganized areas in my home. Good luck!

  • Reply Krystal November 16, 2014 at 8:42 pm

Your goals seem doable! Also, I need to get my blog stuff organized as well. That should be my number 1 goal for the month haha
