What’s Up Friday

I had intentions of linking up with Kristen yesterday, but like so many things I intend to do, it wasn’t done. You would think that with all this extra time I have at home, I would be getting so many things done right??? NOPE! I swear I am busier now than when I was going to the office every day. Working from home full time with a toddler is not for the faint of hearts.

Now that we are deep into quarantine, it is getting harder for Zoe. She is a little social butterfly, and misses her friends and teachers so much. She cried for them multiple times yesterday. We have some FaceTime playdates set up today, and I am hoping they can be a regular thing for her for the remainder of this.

We have told her that there are a lot of people that are sick right now, and there are a lot of germs going around. That is why schools are shut down and we can’t go anywhere. And she understands that part of it, but doesn’t understand why it is still going on. Same girl, same. A few weeks or a few months doesn’t mean much in toddler time, it is all too long.

We have a really good routine going. We wake up and make breakfast together, get a lesson in. We have some outside play on nice days, or do Just Dance when it is gross outside. We make lunch and eat together, and then I go to my office and work while she plays or colors for about 2 hours. She wont nap anymore, and even fights quiet time in her room…so this is what works best to avoid a huge meltdown. I wake up at 5am to get a workout in and work for a few hours before she wakes up to make up for this. Around 3pm, we get a snack and take a walk or play ball outside. Usually more Just Dance or Youtube kid yoga. Then we make dinner and do our normal night routines. What does your day look like now?

Homeschooling is difficult. So much planning has to go in to keeping it fresh and her interested. I have incorporated lots of crafts to make it more fun and memorable for her. We have gone through all the shapes and have started on letters.

Favorite Neighbors: Some cows showed up last Saturday on the land behind our house. Never thought I would see cows in my backyard, especially not living in the city. But here we are. It is actually pretty cool, but I am worried about the smell in the dead of summer. We have all been fascinated by them daily.

Favorite Purchase: After a week of scouring the internet for an office chair, I pulled the trigger on this beautiful blush one from World Market. I was going to do a navy accent wall in my office, but I think I am just going to paint it Storm from Benjamin Moore because I have an extra can of it sitting here from Zoe’s room.

It is sooo true about not cleaning due to lack of time. Ha. We are having a hard time. We explained to the girls that everyone is getting the flu and we can’t go anywhere. They have the hardest time not seeing their friends or going to the park.

I know I’m struggling, so I have NO idea how those of you with kids are doing it all. Kudos. You’ve done so many cool things with Zoe! I feel so bad for all of the kids. My niece is also a social butterfly and misses other kids so badly.

I’m so sorry Zoe is missing her friends and teachers. I sure would love to be in craft time with you girlies. So much fun. Here’s an idea for lunch this week….put each food item in an Easter egg, she has to count the items or at least eat all its contents before she moves on to the next. Like cheese cubes in one, grapes in another, etc. Hugs to you all and may you get a refresh in your teacher mind for next week! xo

I keep saying that too – working from home is HARDDDDD work man!!! I cant even IMAGINE with a toddler & having to do school with them too. Seriously – HOW?
I had to laugh – so one of your ads on the side – today was showing some sort of shirt that has a face mask built into it – the world we live in today now – How do they have these things already made – fashionable shirts with face masks…was this needed before this COVID-19 thing???

I feel Zoe on a deep level of it feeling like a really long time! I love how many activities you guys are doing with her. The beauty of this (and what i keep telling myself) is how much family time we’re all getting. xo, Biana –BlovedBoston

Awe, poor Zoe misses her people! I hate that for her. I love the activities she’s working on. Those look like a fun way to keep her entertained. I’m over here struggling to entertain an 11-month old. Yesterday, every pot and pan and Tupperware dish we owned was on the kitchen floor. I’m sure that’s normal at this stage but I would just love for her to stay in the living room, not the kitchen. It’s a struggle to keep her out of the dog bowls and cleaning cabinets at this time. I’ve thought about getting some materials from lowes to craft a “baby cabinet” that she can play with in the living room lol.

I love that chair. My desk is from World Market and, though some of the paint has chipped, it’s been perfect.

Damn, you put me to shame with all of your school works with Zoe. I just throw some worksheets at Sheff, and am like here, LEARN. 🙂 I also can’t get over the cows in your backyard – that’s so awesome. And yay for the pink chair – it’s so cute!

You have a great schedule/system in place. I’m sure it’s tough to work from home AND home-school a little one. I applaud you for sure. And adding in lots of crafts sounds like a great idea to keep Zoe interested and have some fun. I don’t really have a set schedule too much, though I probably should work on that more. LOL I work from home as well, but I’m part time so it’s Monday-Thursday from 7.30 am – 12.30 pm. I really need to be more active, or find ways to exercise in the house, because I’ve never been great at solo exercising – hence why I’m in two dance classes. LOL

Ooh love your new desk chair, and the funnies are always great.
