What is the most valuable friendship you have in your life and what makes it so great?
There are many different levels of which you can be friends with someone, so I would like to highlight on a few of those. First and foremost, my husband. We chose to spend the rest of our lives together, so of course…we are the best of friends! We share things with each other that we share with no one else. We are there for one another in sickness and in health, for better or for worse. We support each others dreams. We do the every day things together. The highlight of every day for me is seeing him.
Another valuable friendship I have is with my mother. Yes, she is my mom…so of course I love her. However, it is much deeper than that. I don’t just see her as my mom, I see her as my best friend. She has always been there for me. She has always made me feel comfortable enough to talk to her about anything and everything. She is the person I most enjoy shopping with and talking to on the phone to. Anytime I am down on something, she is the person I go to for inspiration or to vent. She is an amazing person.
The most valuable “traditional” friendship I have is with my friend Amanda. She used to be my co-worker. She is one of those people that I boned with instantly. We are alike in many ways, we were and still are at the same stage in life. When we met, we were both engaged and getting married a month apart from each other. We are both in our late 20’s trying to figure out what we want to be when we grow up. We now are both newlyweds without kids. We both just bought our first homes. We share so much in common with our personalities. I meet up with Amanda at least once a week for lunch. During our lunches we talk about what we have going on in our lives, vent about the things that bother us, and encourage and inspire each other to follow our dreams and figure out what we want to to professionally and for fun. Amanda is one of the most genuine, sweetest people I have ever met. Even though I have only known her for about 2 years, I feel like I have been friends with her my whole life. She is one of those people who you can always rely on no matter what. I am so very thankful for our friendship. I know that one of the reasons I worked at the place I did was to meet her.
I have posted before about how I lost my “best friend.” I still miss her to this day. I know that sometimes people come into your life and aren’t meant to stay forever. It hurts when you lose what you thought to be a life long friendship. I often ask myself if there was something I could have done differently, or should I reach back out to her. I know that people can come and go.
I am also incredibly thankful for all of my blogging friends! When I started this blog, I had no clue where it would lead. I have connected with amazing people from all over the country, and right here in Alabama. I am so thankful for the friendships I have established, and the ones I hope to still gain. Meeting up with the Alabama Bloggers has been one of the best things I have done. Every single one of those girls is genuine, and sweet and I am thankful for them. I love how in the blogging community we encourage each other and write from the heart.
Good Morning and Happy Monday. (Happy Monday as in, let’s just try to make it through this day Monday!) Linking up with Sami once again for my Weekend Shenanigans!
Friday – After what felt like the longest work week ever, Chris and I headed over to the Todd English Pubb to meet up with some friends. Chris and I got there first, so we put our names in for a table and headed to the bar. I will say that this place has an IMPRESSIVE beer list. There are so many awesome options that it is almost overwhelming. For whatever reason, it was freezing on Friday and I wanted nothing more than a pretty spring night…so I decided to order the strawberry beer that was on tap. It started with a T, it might have been Timmerman’s or something like that. Whatever it was…it was freakin’ delicious!!! Like, I want another right now!
Chris and I went and sat in the lobby at the Westin while we waited for our friends to show and get our table, there was no room at the bar. The lobby there is very nice and we enjoyed just sitting there and relaxing and conversing with our friends. They came and got us when our table was ready. It was super loud where our table was, at times we couldn’t even hear our friends…but whatever.
Chris and I decided to order burgers because we figured they had to be good. They came out looking like this, and what is not to love about the looks of this?!
Well, it was a HUGE disappointment!! This might have been the worst burger I have ever had. It had absolutely NO flavor. The fries were wonderful, but I was so disappointed by this burger that I didn’t really care. I think I might have eaten 1/4 of the burger and maybe 1/2 the fries. It doesn’t even count as a cheat meal! Chris felt the same about his burger, barely touching it. Which is pretty sad because he was a few beers ahead of me and he still didn’t like it! Overall, the Todd English Pub was cool looking on the inside, and the beer selection was wonderful. I even give them an A for presentation of the food. I am sure we will be back, but just to grab a drink. No more dinner for us!
Saturday – Puggles love nothing more than sunbathing, and that is what Gracie did Saturday morning! How cute is she?
Chris and I were on the hunt for a few things on Saturday. We met up with his dad, and headed out to do some shopping and some eating. We went to a thrift shop on the shady side of town, and they had some amazing things. We didn’t purchase anything, but will be keeping it on our radar! We headed to Jackson’s for lunch, and gosh darn if we didn’t have another horrible experience! Can’t we get some decent food in Birmingham this weekend?!?! Our server was horrendous. She was so rude and very lazy. Our food sat out for 10 minutes before she brought it to our table. It was cold and disgusting. Chris’s drink sat empty for a good 5 minutes, and he ended up having to walk to the back and fill it up himself. They weren’t hardly busy at all, so there was no excuse for our shitty service. Two employees saw him going to get his own drink and didn’t say or do anything. Just completely ridiculous. It was so off putting that I doubt we will ever be back there. Which sucks, I used to like that place.
After “lunch,” we headed to a few different places and looked out grills and lawn mowers, you know…fun grown up stuff! Does anyone know anything about Infrared grills? Chris and I hardly know anything about grills in general, and we don’t know if we want a regular one or this new infrared stuff. Please fill me in if you know the difference and which is better!
Saturday night we ordered Papa Sal’s for dinner and took it home with us. Thankfully, it was the first meal I enjoyed all weekend!
Sunday – We headed to Waffle House like we do every Sunday as of lately. Then we ran around to get a birthday card and wrapping paper for wrap some presents for Will, he turned 3 this weekend!! 🙂 So many birthdays lately! This is what I wore to the birthday party.
Jacket – Old Navy
Dress – Old Navy
Necklace – New York and Company (3 years ago)
Shoes – Coach
Watch – Michael Kors
After the birthday party, I headed out to do our grocery shopping/meal planning for the week. This week I am making:
Kung Pao Chicken and Brown Fried Rice
Braised Pork Chops and Roasted Potatoes
Buffalo Chicken and Celery
Over Chicken with Green Beans and Potatoes
Today is Earth Day, so I hope that everyone has a fabulous week!
Well hello there, Friday! It is about time you showed up. We’ve only been waiting on you since 8:00am Monday!
Linking up with my girl Joy again for the Friday Five.
This Friday Five is mostly about the dogs. Are you surprised? I am the crazy dog lady, aren’t I?
1. Puppy Love – Seriously…do these 2 get any sweeter?
Soeaking of sweet – There is no cuter sound in the world than a doggie yawn with a little stretching and whining.
2. Playtime – Gracie is always up for playing tug with her dinosaur. Well, that is…after Mac stole her bone from her. He was so in to it I couldn’t get a non-blurry picture!
Oh my, what big teeth you have!
3. Diva status, guy style – Mac thought he was too good for a picture! Look at him with his nose in the air. He is a mess!
4. Monday was tax day, mine looked a little like this:
5. It’s Friday…you know what that means…
My day is going to look like this
I can tell that I am going to get a lot done at work! I just know it!
Then I make the decision that I will no longer be productive
Then it’s
And an ecard about our current events, because seriously…can this week be any more messed up?!
I love the idea of this link up!!! I am still trying to figure some things out for when I grow up…even though I am going to be 30 this year…I haven’t quite gotten my crap together yet!
According to MASH, I am supposed to be living in a mansion, driving a fancy car, have 4 children and be married to Jonathan Taylor Thomas. Hmmm….not quite. Though, I am married to a pretty amazing man and we have a beautiful home…but it’s not a mansion.
So when I grow up….
I will have a room for a closet
A really pretty, fancy kitchen
With a pantry that looks like this
An outdoor space that looked like this
A tub with a view
A glorious bathroom
A bedroom fit for the princess that I am
A vacation home here
and here
I would throw lavishing parties for all my friends
I would have an amazing job like Lauren Conrad or Jessica Simpson with my own fashion collection
I would drive around in a big fancy car
I would let my children wear these clothes to go shopping
I would have enough free time and money to really help places like this
My dogs would have a place like this
I will always believe in fairy tales like these
Yup, I can’t wait til I grow up! Life is looking pretty good 🙂
The Rules: 1. Link back to the person who nominated you. 2. Write 11 facts about yourself once nominated. 3. Answer the eleven questions from the person who nominated you. 4. Come up with 11 questions for the 11 people you nominate.
I have done a blog post before where Simply Call Me Sylvia nominated me for my first Liebster Award. That was back when she was really one of my only followers. Since then, I have received several emails telling me that I was nominated, and I haven’t gotten around to doing another post. Perhaps I should put the award on the side of my blog so people know I was? How many times can you accept? I don’t really know…but I felt I ought to do it one more time to answer some question for the people that are new around here to learn about me.
I want to thank everyone who has nominated me for one! I really do appreciate it! Let me give a shout out to the ones I have received recently:
If you aren’t following any of the beautiful ladies, you need to be! I would nominate every single one of them twice over for the Liebster Award or any other blogging awards out there! Seriously, love them!
Since I had several nominations without a post, instead of the 11 random facts I will answer everyone’s questions.
Joanna’s Questions
Who is your favorite artist or band?
It is seriously impossible for me to pick just one. I simply cannot.
What is your dream job?
I haven’t figured that out quite yet. It will be something that I don’t mind spending 40+ hours a week doing. Something I feel appreciated for. Something that NEVER makes me come home and cry in frustration. I would love to have my own fashion line. Or maybe own an event venue where I could plan weddings and other fun celebrations. Perhaps work with a non-profit of some kind.
If you could meet anyone, who would it be and why?
Joanna, you are picking some good questions that I really have to think about! I would love to meet some of the bloggers that I follow every day in person! I had the chance to meet some wonderful Alabama bloggers over the last few months and I would love to meet more!
What is your worst habit?
Saying “I don’t know” or “It doesn’t matter” when it is time to make a decision. I am pretty sure I drive my husband and friends crazy! I also worry too much, about everything!

Get a cup of coffee and check my phone.
What is something you are most proud of?
I am most proud of the woman that my little sister has become. She is truly an amazing person.
If this is meant to be about me…then I am proud of myself for living in Atlanta for so many years on my own. I had my own apartment and took care of myself. I really learned a lot about me in that time.
Why did you start blogging?
To have somewhere to collect my thoughts. To be able to document my day to day life. To be able to connect to others out there that are in a similar stage of life as me that I can relate with. To read others blog for encouragement and inspiration, and hope that mine brings that to others.
What is your favorite clothing store?
My closet says Ann Taylor Loft
Do you have a bucket list? If so, tell us what is on it.

Dogs or cats?
No question about it, dogs! I am a crazy dog lady. Cats sort of scare me.

I order pizza one of two ways. I either eat Pineapple and cheese or Pepperoni and cheese. I don’t really like a lot of toppings on my pizza and to be honest…I usually do not eat all the cheese on it either. I also like BBQ chicken pizza and white pizza now and then too.

I always read a book before. There are some books that I never see the movie to as the movies can be a let down!
What is something you wish you knew about blogging?
I wish I was better at blog design. I would really like to create something that is completely my own and I don’t know quite how to do that? Also I can’t figure out grooveshark, apparently I am a do-do or something?!
What is your best piece of advice for beginning bloggers?
Blog for you, not for others. When you write a post, it should be something that you care about, want to write about or share. I love connecting with other people, but the number of followers on your GFC or Bloglovin’ should not be your main focus…sort of like the number on the scale shouldn’t define you either. It is OK if you aren’t a blogger categorized under one thing either. Maybe one day I want to be a fashion blogger, then the next day I am a foodie and 2 days later I am posting work out tips on how to get rid of the calories I just consumed eating the wonderful recipe I posted the day before. That is OK because at the end of the day you should be doing this for YOU.
Now it is my turn to nominate some wonderful ladies to carry on the Liebster Award!
