What Do You Do?

Today is day 6 of blog every day in May and I have got to tell you, this is a good one! Today’s topic is:

If you couldn’t answer with your job, how would you answer the question, “What do you do?”

I think we can all answer this question by saying “I am a blogger.” I caught myself telling someone that yesterday and said I would do a post soon to promote something that I think is awesome!

I am a wife. I enjoy to take on the “traditional” wifely duties of the house by cooking and cleaning. I like to take care of my husband and make sure he has a yummy dinner and his clothes are cleaned.

I am a dog mom. Gracie and Mac are like my kids. I take care of them every day by letting them outside, giving them breakfast and dinner, bathing them, playing with them, snuggling them, loving them.

I am a family person. I love to spend time with my family and Chris’s. Going shopping with my mom, having lunch with my sister, watching an Alabama game with Chris’s parents, hanging out with my sister in law.

I love hanging out with my friends, I am always down for a girls lunch where we chit chat about our daily life and encourage each other.

I am constantly in a state of learning and growing. I try to be the best that I can at everything I do.

What do you do?

Favorite Quote

This is day 4 and time to talk about my favorite quote! I love quotes, they can be little inspirational reminders. It is really hard to just pick one out of the hundreds of thousands out there.

“To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson

I chose to blog about this quote today because I find this so very true. In today’s society everyone feels so pressured to be this or be that. You have super models in magazines with an unrealistic idea of what beauty is. Girls starving themselves and obsessing about a few pounds because they feel that is what defines them.

You have kids that make their parents spend tons of money on brand name clothes because that’s what is cool and in. They may get made fun of if they aren’t in Abercrombie or whatever it is that the kids are in to these days.

Some people feel they need to be interested in certain things or have a certain view on something because that is what their friends think or is the common vote.

I am here to say that I am always myself. I might be a little awkward, a little shy, a little nutty, but I am me. I buy clothes that I think are cute, most of the time they are fairly stylish…but it is what I like. I don’t dress for anyone but me. I try to eat healthy because I want to feel good and I want to look good for me. I don’t care what others think.

I like to have a sense of humor, be kind, tell the truth. I don’t like to play games with people. I am one to be very nice and friendly with people until they give me a reason not to be, but I am not an ass kisser. I like to please people, but not be taken advantage of.

I am Me. Please be You!

And another favorite of mine…

Blogger Love

I am really enjoying this link up! There are so many wonderful topics to write about and it is very inspiring! Today is day 5 and the topic is about my love for blogger friends!

I am so thankful for the blogging community in general. There are so many women inspiring and encouraging others that they do not even know in real life! I have some blogger friends that are now in real life friends, and other blogger friends that I would love to meet in person one day!

First up, my Alabama group! We have had a few blates, and are in the process of trying to get another one on the books. These girls are absolutely amazing!

There are some bloggers that I would love to meet some day!

Joanna and I text and tweet each other often and I am so jealous that she is living it up in CA! I am going to have to come crash her pool party once it is built!
There are some Bama bloggers that I haven’t had a chance to meet yet, maybe we can get them to come to our next blate! Meighan at Heavens to Meighan cracks me up and is one of them!

Things That Make Me Uncomfortable

This is day 3 for the blog every day in May link up and I find today’s topic interesting….things that make me uncomfortable. We all get in situations where we aren’t quite sure what to do, say, how to stand…etc. Maybe you are shy and get uncomfortable in crowds. Whatever the reason…sometimes it is entertaining! Here we go!

I get uncomfortable when…

I am in a group of people that I do not really know and things go silent. I feel the need to fill the silence, but don’t quite know what to say?

I am in a public restroom and someone is chatting on the phone while in a stall. Really? This couldn’t wait or you couldn’t call back after you go #2?

If I can’t quite tell if the person I am speaking to is a guy or a girl on the phone. I don’t know whether to say yes man or yes sir.

If I am at the vet with my dogs and they start having accidents in the waiting area or on the table. You went #1 and #2 at least seven times each before we walked inside…and now you are crapping all over the floor? You are lucky you are both cute!

Stepping on the scale at the doctors office. Don’t give me that judgy look little wannabe nurse girl, I know I need to hit the gym two times a day OK..gosh!

I see a “rape van” in the parking lot. I instantly start remembering Law and Order SVU episodes and it isn’t pretty thoughts!
Clowns. Just no.

My stomach growls in a meeting or when it is quiet in general and the people next to my office can probably hear.

I meet someone and I am not quite sure what to say because of their body language or a sour look on their face. Smile, it won’t kill you.

Hiccups. Why do they have to happen at the worst times?

I tell a joke and no one laughs.

Someone asks me a question that I know the answer to, but I am thrown off when they ask and can’t think straight. Pull yourself together, Nadine!

I have something in my teeth, or I notice someone else has something in their teeth. I wish you would have told me, and I want to tell you but I don’t know how to bring it up?! What is the proper  protocol on this?

Couples who fight in public, or in front of me? Why do you have to do this? Keep it private for your sake and mine!

A co-worker is being fired, or even yelled at. I just want to go hug them…even if I don’t particularly care for them.

Someone I don’t even know discloses way too much personal information or a super sad story…I don’t really know how to react or what to say?

There are about 1,000 other times that I get uncomfortable because I am awkward in general…but these are the things that popped in my head during the post! What makes you uncomfortable?

1. Oven chicken dish- We have all seen it floating around Pinterest.
4-6 raw chicken breasts, new potatoes, green beans (fresh or canned-really any green veggie would work. Broccoli is good, too). Arrange in 9x13 dish. Sprinkle with a packet of Italian dressing mix and then top with a melted stick of butter. Cover with foil and bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour. Enjoy!
So I decided to make it, and it turned out pretty good! I used half the butter that the recipe called for and I made a baked potato to go with it instead of the potatoes because I wasn’t sure how much Italian seasoning I wanted in one meal. This is what mine looked like.
2. Buffalo Chicken Pasta – Can we say yum?! I found this on Plain Chicken’s blog. You can find the post here with the recipe and ingredients. Let’s just say it was super delicious and easy to make! Instead of using rotisserie chicken like she suggests, I put some chicken breast in a crock pot with chicken broth and let it cook all day while I was at work.

3. Lunch this week – For lunch this week I had Spicy Thai Noodles and Spinach Salad.
To make the salad – Baby Spinach, Panera Poppy Seed Dressing, Blue Cheese Crumbles, Dried Cranberries and Honey Roasted Pecans (cut up) It has been amazing all week!

4. Alabama Women Bloggers – If you are in Alabama…make sure you go check out this site and register! It is free and you can connect with lots of wonderful women in your area. I am so excited about this and happy that I can be a part of it!
