Embarrassing Moment – The Time Karma Was Kind

Day 10: Most embarrassing moment(s)…spill!

I am not the smoothest person on the planet, so I tend to embarrass myself often. You know, fall off a sidewalk, trip over my own shoes, stomach growl in a silent room full of people. I have had 2 co-workers open the door on me in the restroom. There are 3 stalls in our bathroom, why do you open the only one that is closed that  you know doesn’t lock? Ridiculous!

However, I don’t really get embarrassed easily though.

I do recall one time in college it was raining and my roommate/friend Shelley and I were walking back from our morning class. We lived in a co-ed dorm, and there were a lot of really hot guys hanging outside in the covered area. I was wearing flip flops, took one step on the slippery concrete…and busted my ass! I mean…the nature of this fall was out of the movies. It felt as if someone put me in slow motion all the way down to the ground. I am sure it was very exaggerated.

Shelley busted out laughing at me and pointing. Bitch! (Just kidding, love you Shelley!) However, she made fun of me the whole way up to our room. A few hours later we were leaving, and it was still wet outside. We walked out of the building and she said something along the lines of “remember that one time when you busted your ass in front of all those guys?” Not two seconds later did Karma teach that bitch a lesson and she fell flat on her ass! One of the few times Karma allowed me to see the payback. Freaking P-R-I-C-E-L-E-S-S!!! There were more people outside when she fell than me too! Ha!

A Moment in My Day

Day 9: A moment in your day. (This can be a photo or a photo and words)

Hey, did you see me did you see me?!?

I’m ready to play!!!!

One of my favorite moments every day is coming home and seeing how excited my dogs are to see me! They act as if every second I was gone they spent waiting for my return. It always makes me feel loved and appreciated! No matter how bad of a day I had at work, they always put a smile on my face!

I also like going into their room in the mornings to wake them up to go outside. Mac is always wide away instantly…Gracie on the other hand looks like me most mornings.

Ahhhhh the lights are too bright!

Man, I am tired!

Sorry mommy, I just can’t get up right now…
Have a great day!

My Two Cents

Day 8: A piece of advice you have for others. Anything at all.

So I am about to give you my two cents. You didn’t ask for it? Oh…sorry I am not sorry!

So if i had some advice for anyone at all…it would be this.

Enjoy the little things.

It is really quite that simple. The little things in life all add up to your happiness. The weeknights on the couch with your husband watching TV. The afternoon outside watching your dogs chase a butterfly. That afternoon shopping with your mom. Playing a game with your nieces and nephews. That late night talk with your grandma.

Life is so short and so precious. You never know when it will be the last time you see someone. We aren’t all going to be around forever. It is the little things that you miss when someone is gone.

Always tell your family that you love them when you see them or before hanging up the phone. Do not go to bed angry at your spouse. Remind yourself that any little thing that you do, even if not the most exciting, is special and precious time spent with that person.

Take the time to give that person a random kiss!

To pet your dogs when they are waiting unpatiently for your attention.

To play that extra round of ski ball, just because it is fun!

To steal snuggles from a pouty puppy!

To play in the snow (or dance in the rain)

To enjoy a beautiful sunset

What I am Most Afraid Of

Day 7 and it is getting deep! Today’s topic is: The thing(s) you are most afraid of.

We can start with the obvious:

Spiders, snakes, bees and other nasty critters.
Heights of any kind.
Small spaces for a long period of time.
Getting stuck next to a semi truck in the pouring down rain, or around a sharp corner!

I am also terrified of losing a loved one.

Then there are the things that you gotta reach real deep to realize you are afraid.

So is about to get real.

I have recently discovered that I am afraid of succeeding. Sounds crazy, right? I think I need to go sit on a couch somewhere and work this out one day. I don’t really know what it is that made me realize this, or what I should do about it?

Is the fear of succeeding all about the risk and getting your hopes up and eventually failing? Or is it more than that? It really is all so complex that I can’t wrap my head around the idea, I just think that is my problem.

Do I feel I do not deserve success? I have worked really hard to get myself through school and finding a job that pays the bills. I am honest and hard working, I think I deserve some success. What is my deal?

Weekend Shenanigans-Time to Get Cereal!

Linking up with Sami for my Weekend Shenanigans!

So Friday my co-workers and I decided to have a good ol’ Southern Lunch at one of our meat and three places. Nothing like getting your veggies in for the day…even if they are drenched in unhealthy amounts of butter and other yummy goodness.

Then Friday evening I came home from work to find a surprise from my husband. Strawberry flavored beer? Yes, please! While I enjoyed it, Timmerman’s Strawberry is way better. Just sayin’.

After we had a few beer we decided to head out to North Tavern in good ol’ Trussville. We had a hankering for some fried pickles. (Do you see an unhealthy theme?) I also enjoyed my favorite local brew on draft, Back Forty Truck Stop Honey. Yum yum yummy!!!! We happened to run into our Realtor who is always a delight, and she may or may not have bought us a round of drinks after we decided we were finished and closed our tab. It is rude to not drink them…so we thoroughly enjoyed suffered through it! There was a country band playing that night, and they were great! Played a lot of Gary Allen 🙂

We received a package in the mail with some things Chris ordered off of Ebay….and this post card was in there. How awesome?

For whatever reason, Chris woke up SUPER early Saturday morning, like wake up for work early…so we watched a few episodes of How I Met Your Mother. One of the episodes had a teacup pig in it and I started to wonder…why do we not have one of these?! I said it out loud and Chris said he was thinking the same exact thing!!! I mean have you seen these things? They are super expensive, if anyone would like to donate to Chris and Nadine need a tea cup pig fun…that would be awesome!

Anywho…

Then plans changed. We started getting ready for our day when we received a call and had to take care of some family matters. We had lunch at Habaneros because you can’t have Cinco de Mayo weekend without some Mexican food in your belly! After we were done with family things, we went to a few thrift shops and to look at Garden Ridge and Southeastern Salvage. If you live in the Birmingham area, you need to check out Southeastern Salvage in Irondale. They have the neatest home things.! We decided on a leather couch at Garden Ridge but realized it wouldn’t fit in any car we owned, so we talked with  my sister-in-law and they offered to go with us Sunday to get it 🙂 Yay for awesome family!

Saturday evening we had dinner with Chris’s parents and his sister and her husband. Nothing better than home cooked burgers and dogs!

Sunday morning we met my sister-in-law and brother-in-law over at Garden Ridge to pick up our new couch! We enjoyed walking around there together. They really do have wonderful things at amazingly affordable prices! They came over to drop it off and help us put it together. Sunday afternoon was spent meal planning and grocery shopping. Then Sunday evening, we had our Sunday usual dinner! Cheese tortellini and garlic bread. Yum!

There was talk about us going to the beach in a few weeks, which got me in an anxiety attack. Beach? That means bathing suit! That means my body in a bathing suit?! Oh dear goodness! It is time to get cereal for real!!!! I eat pretty darn healthy during the week, but not on the weekends. I really need to buckle down and get serious. Besides, even if we don’t end up going to the beach, I set myself a goal on my 29th birthday that I would lose 30 lbs before I turned 30. I only lost 10 lbs so far and I have 20 more to go! I lost 15 lbs but I keep gaining and losing the same down 5 lbs and it is driving me crazy!!! I have to get serious. I have to cut it down to one cheat meal a week, not a cheat weekend. I need to start doing cardio after work. I need to whip out my Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred video and get to work. I need to be kicking ass and taking names!!

I hope that everyone has a wonderful week!
