Show Me Your Worst

Day 24: Your top 3 worst traits

Well sadly enough, talking about my worst traits is easier than talking about what I think is good about me. Maybe that is its own worst trait in itself?!

1. I am indecisive. I am indecisive about stupid stuff, really. Professionally, I am completely able to make decisions pretty quickly. Yet, if you ask me where I want to go for lunch most days or what I want to do this weekend…I don’t know. Should I buy this shirt or not? I don’t know. I am pretty sure it is the thing that gets on my husband’s nerves the most.

2. I have a hard time saying no, and am a door mat. I let people get away with a lot and take advantage of me. I don’t like to let someone down or disappoint so I have a hard time saying no when I don’t want to do something or don’t really have time to. I also tend to let people walk all over me.

3. I hate confrontation and will avoid it at all costs. Even if I let something eat at me for days, weeks, months…I usually won’t confront someone. I don’t know why. I guess that goes along with not being able to say no and letting people walk all over me. When I do confront someone, it ain’t pretty! You have severely pissed me off and our friendship/relationship is pretty much over at this point!

Not Everything You Learn is in School

Day 23: Things you’ve learned that school won’t teach you

Have you ever thought about the most valuable lessons in life? Chances are, you didn’t learn them in school! Who needs half the crap you learn in school. Geometry and Geology were a HUGE waste of my time!

1. Life is not fair.

2. The things that make you cool in school mean nothing after graduation.

3. You will learn who your true friends are the hard way.

4. Common sense. You can be book smart all day, but if you don’t have a little street smarts or common sense…you have nothing!

5. How to decide what is right and what is wrong.

6. Ethics. (Well other than you know you shouldn’t cheat in school.)

7. How to chose a career. Yeah, they want you to be focused on what you want to do in life…but they don’t prepare you for how to chose what it is that you want to do.

8. What the real world is really like. No schooling prepares you for actual real life after graduation.

9. How to cope with betrayal.

10. Class. You can’t teach class.

11. How to adjust to the obstacles of life.

12. Patience. Again, something that can not be taught.

13. To embrace who you are. When you are in school, you are forced to sort of “fit in with the sheep” so to speak. The kids that are different are the ones who are bullied and made fun of…but they are usually the ones that are the most intelligent. You shouldn’t make them hold that in.

14. People are only looking out for themselves. The sooner you learn this, the better off you will be! At the end of the day, only YOU can stand up for you.

15. How important it is to network. A lot of times, it is not what you know but who you know.

16. You chose to be happy. And your definition of happy is different from other people, and that is OK!

17. If any type of relationship in your life is toxic, you must set boundaries. No matter if they are friend or even family.

18. If you find yourself with no friends, maybe it is you.

19. You are not owed anything in life, you must earn it.

20. Time heals all wounds.

21. Most of the time what you are looking for has been in front of you the whole time.

22. Hard work, honesty and kindness with more often than not take you further than intelligence.

23. Karma is a bitch, and sometimes you are lucky enough to witness her in action to someone who has done you wrong!

I Don’t Have Road Rage

Day 22: Rant about something. Ge up on  your soapbox and tell us how you really feel. (A pet peeve, a current event, a controversial topic, something your husband or roommate or neighbor or boss does that really ticks you off)

There are so many ways that I can go with this post. Bad parenting, a co-worker who is so negative and rude every day that I can barely stand it and roll my eyes when I drive in the parking lot and see her car, people who are constantly ungrateful, neighbors that are assholes about ridiculous things, bad table manners…the list goes on and on!
The thing that gets to me the most every day is BAD DRIVERS!

Dear heavens. How in the world more people aren’t driving around with smashed up cars is beyond me. On any given day, most of us almost die because of some idiot on the road. I don’t know what it is about people? How in the world do you not pay attention when you drive? If you aren’t good at multi-tasking…the car is definitely not the place for you to try it out! I can’t tell you how many people are in front of me going a constant speed on the interstate and then all of a sudden they drop down to 50mph when a few seconds ago they were going 75mph….then when you go to pass them, they are on their damn phone. How can you not have a conversation and drive at the same time? Texting is even a dumber thing to do for these people. Crossing over three lanes as you try to type something stupid that could have waited. Meanwhile, you have drive 3 people off the road and are about to miss your exit.

Speaking of exits. You drive the same route to and from work 5 days a week, 52 weeks a year. How in the hell did you not know your exit is coming up? Now you have to work your way over, and instead of just blending and merging you slam on your breaks and effect all 40 people behind you.

You are also probably the idiot that doesn’t know how to merge onto an interstate from an entrance ramp either. Nope. You are the one who drives 30mph down it, expecting that when you reach the bottom…the people going 70mph on the interstate are just going to magically let you in. There are 3 people behind you also trying to merge, and would like to do so at a faster rate!
Why haven’t we figured out how to merge two interstates together? It starts prepping you 2 miles in advance. You know which lane you need to be in. WHY in the world does it get jammed up every single damn day?

Oh it is raining? Oh no. The human brain can’t function in the rain apparently. Why does everyone turn into an IDIOT in the rain? For goodness sakes! It isn’t just rain, it is sprinkling, drizzling, snow, bright sun, overcast….apparently any type of weather sends the general population into a frenzy.

There has been an accident. It has been cleared over to the side. Why aren’t we moving?! Oh that’s right, every one of you assholes has to rubber neck and see what happened. Someone rear ended another person, more than likely because it was either raining or they were texting. We have all seen an accident before, why do we have to look so hard and slow down so much that there is still traffic an hour after it happened? MOVE!!!!!

We are at the mall, you have the right of way as you pull in. There is a huge sign that says KEEP MOVING. You stop. WHY DID YOU STOP?!?!?! You are getting the horn. You are an idiot and you have ruined my whole shopping experience before I have even entered the mall.

Trussville, this one is for you. Why do 7 cars feel the need to go and turn after the light turns red? OK, I get one of you going, maybe you were hanging out in the way of the lanes that are about to move. Fine, maybe 2 of you go. 7? Now you have wasted all my green arrow and I have to sit at another light. All of you assholes are getting a dirty look from me as you drive past. Rude!

You know what else is rude? Blocking an intersection when you know the light is about to turn red, and you continue to sit in it the entire time, knowing all to well you have just screwed everyone. Not letting someone over when they are using proper turn signals and trying to get into your lane. Cutting people off. The list goes on!

Road rage? I don’t know what you are talking about. Nope, not me.

Weekend Shenanigans

It appears that it is officially Monday again and time for weekend Shenanigans with Sami

This weekend was totally busy and it is a short work week for me! Yay!

Friday evening we enjoyed a relaxed evening at home. And by relaxed evening I mean drinking yummy beer and listening to some chill music. If you haven’t tried Timmerman’s Strawberry then you haven’t lived. You must get this ASAP!

After Friday’s monsoon, Saturday morning we ran over to Chris’s parents house and made sure their basement wasn’t flooded (they were out of town.) It was dry! Yay! Then we came back home and I cleaned the house. When I looked outside, I see Gracie, my usual sun bather, hiding in the only spot of shade in the entire back yard. Go figure…she is usually in the only spot of sun in the  mornings and Mac is the one who is usually chilling in the shade. These dogs crack me up! I mean, does she get any cuter? I thinks not.

Saturday afternoon we headed down town to hang out. We stopped at Hop City first, but there were a bunch of douchey people there, so we went to WOB instead. (World of Beer) I don’t know if you have ever heard of it or not…but they have tons and tons of beer and no food!

This is Woodchuck Granny Smith Cider, it was pretty good but I liked Angry Orchid Crisp Apple  better. It had a cleaner taste to it.

This deliciousness was my favorite of the day, Fox Barrel Blackberry Pear cider. Oh my yummy in my tummy! It had a wonderful flavor with the pear in the back ground. Very clean and super tasty! I will definitely want this again!

After sampling a beer or three we decided that maybe we needed some food after all and headed to Fuego for some Mexican goodness. I love places with patios in the spring and summer. There is nothing better than enjoying the evening with great food and fresh air!

One of Chris’s friends is gearing up for M Fest at Railroad Park next weekend, and he was hanging out there on Saturday night so we decided to head down there and support the cause. He will be donating all proceeds to Children’s Hospital which is totally awesome. It was such a pretty night. This was my first time hanging out at Railroad Park, it is a really cool place and I am so glad that Birmingham is starting to grow again. We have Railroad Park, The Baron’s baseball stadium, and a cool new entertainment district on the move with the Westin and Todd English Pubb, and a new Brazilian grill will be opening soon there too! Not to mention, Nordstrom Rack has opened on 280.

Sunday we had to be grown ups. I went grocery shopping, and then Chris and I headed to Lowe’s to purchase our first lawn mower and weed eater. $500, lots of sweat, and an eventful few hours later and our grass is cut. Sometimes being a grown up sucks.

I hope that everyone had a wonderful weekend! Let’s tackle Monday!
