Here Kitty Kitty….

So over the course of the last few weeks…I have noticed some sort of animal prowling around our neighborhood. We live in a neighborhood with lots of houses, but it is located in the middle of no where in the mountains, and there is a VERY heavily treed area behind our house. Anyways, at first I wasn’t sure what I saw. It was all black, and I saw it for a brief moment along the tree line and it vanished. It was about 5:45 am and I hadn’t had my coffee yet. I swore it was some type of large cat….but you never know. I just wrote it off.

Fast forward a few days and I had another siting. Mac was barking like a mad man on our back deck. He tends to do this often. You know…people walking, another dog in the neighbors yard, a butterfly, a leaf…he lets me know about EVERYTHING. Well he wasn’t letting up, and it was about time for me to leave anyways so I opened the back door to let him and Gracie in. Sitting in the weeds along the outer edge of our fenced in yard…there is the large black cat I saw a few days ago. Maybe I am not just seeing things…I know it isn’t a dog. It has short pointy ears and it just looks a little off.

That brings me to Friday evening. I had just gotten home from work and Chris had the dogs out in the back yard when I got home. We decided we needed to go run an errand so I opened the door to let them in, and there is that damn cat again! This time it is in the same spot I saw it the very first time. Along the tree line in the back corner of our neighbors yard near our fence. It was just sitting there staring at me. Then it stood up, and I got a good look at its tail. It was VERY long. It has to be around 80-100 lbs and not full grown yet. I don’t know what the hell it is, mountain lion, bob cat, puma….some type of LARGE ass cat is lurking.

I called for Chris and I was like “Um baby, do you see that black animal out there past our fence?” He walks outside and was like “Holy shit that isn’t a dog….that is a cat of some kind!!! Let me go get my airsoft gun! Keep it from running off!” Yeah….sure babe because that airsoft gun is going to do anything to it? Probably not! Well it hung out there staring at me, licking its paw for a minute listening to me say “here kitty kitty”….then Mac noticed it was back there. He started barking and I could tell him and Gracie were going to run off into the back yard…I didn’t want them to be the main course of this cats dinner so I called them back inside. When I looked back out there, the cat was gone.

Chris and I decided after we got back from running our errands that we should post something in the neighborhood Facebook page about our siting. A log of our neighbors have small animals they let run around, and of course…all their children that play outside. I know if someone else saw that, I would want them to warn me about it. So Chris posted something a long the lines of “Warning: We saw some type of large cat, maybe a  mountain lion/cougar/bob cat/puma/etc in the neighborhood behind the cul-de-sac houses this evening. Just want to let everyone know to be alert.”

One guy asked us which cul-de-sac and when we saw it and I responded and let them know. I also described the color, the short pointy ears, long tail, the size etc and that I had seen it before but didn’t want to jump to conclusions about what it was until someone else verified it to. Well, over the course of the night, one girl asked us if we were drunk. Some other bitch asked what type of drugs we were on. Some asshole posted another post “Warning: Big Foot spotted” and described how large it was blah blah blah. You know what….fuck all of you! We were trying to be good neighbors and let these people know that hey…you might want to keep your dogs close by or maybe don’t let your kids go off by themselves…whatever. But they turned it in to some joke. Said it couldn’t possibly be a large cat. Acted like we were crazy. That’s fine…and when it attacks you…I am going to laugh at your ass and not feel a bit sorry for you.

Rude!

I might have acted like a 5 year old for a second, and defriended that bitch that asked if we were on drugs. But seriously? If you don’t believe what we saw, then that is fine…but don’t be ugly about it. We are all supposed to be neighbors and help each other out.

This is similar to what it looks like, by the way.

It’s ears look like this:

Tell me if you saw that thing in real life…and not at a zoo…you wouldn’t be scared just a little bit?!

My dad hit a large cat on his way back to his house last year as it was running across the road. He lives in the same county we live in. My sister has pictures of paw prints in her front yard that are WAY too big to be a dog or some other domesticated animal.

A lot of wildlife’s homes were destroyed in the tornados back in 2011 and they have taken shelter and made new homes elsewhere. It isn’t a far fetch to see something like this in our area….in the mountains….in the RURAL country.

Dumbasses.

Our neighbors are too worried about airing out each others dirty laundry on our NEIGHBORHOOD Facebook page rather than take interest in things that really matter. The page was created to talk about neighborhood issues, the speeding problems, road problems, the random person that was going door to door that was actually a rapist that was eventually arrested in another county because he got caught, etc. We have brought up real issues: internet issues, road issues and a possible dangerous animal siting….But they would rather talk about their redneck gun club and the fact that one of our slutty neighbors tried to sleep with another neighbors husband and some other neighbor that baked someone cookies. It is more of a high school lunch room than a neighborhood page for adults who own homes and should be “mature.”

I had to vent because it just pisses me off to no end.  Am I the only one with sucky neighbors?

6 Things You Should Know About Me

Meighan tagged me in a post last week. If you don’t follow Meighan, you are missing out! Home girl just got engaged, is hilarious, and an Alabama girl. What more do you need? I love reading “About Me” posts, you always learn something new about someone. So, here we go!

6 Things You Should Know About Me

1. What is the best piece of advice anyone has ever given you?
Be yourself. You can’t please everyone, so there is no use in trying. If you are true to yourself and happy, that is all you need.
2. If you could meet any blogger in person, who would you choose?
There are so many wonderful bloggers out there, I wish I could meet everyone!!! I had the opportunity to meet up with some of the Alabama bloggers back in the spring. I would love to see all of them again, and the rest of the ladies that have joined Alabama Women Bloggers. If you live in Alabama and haven’t joined our community yet, what are you waiting for? One day I want to head on out to CA and chill with Joanna and her dogs by the pool!
3. What’s your biggest struggle in life?
There are a lot of things I struggle with. I am a worrier. Not to be confused with warrior, ha! But seriously, I worry about things all the time. I need to learn to just chill. I also have struggled off and on with weight. More so with staying motivated all the time and not just most of the time. I have really worked on that over the last several months and am finally starting to see my work pay off. Little victories.
4. What’s something you love about yourself?
I am a selfless person. I always give and am compassionate. I always try and make everyone happy and comfortable. Sometimes it is an issue, because like I said above…you cant make everyone happy. Which leads to my issues of worry. Go figure! I am also good at just going with the flow. It just makes life easier.
5. Favorite thing to do in your spare time?
I love to shop. I could shop every day if you let me. And loan me some money! I also like to read, craft, watch hours of mindless TV, Alabama football, organize things, play games (board or video games), spend time with my furballs or head to a local brewery for a drink with my husband.
6. Who inspires you?

So many people inspire me in different ways. My mom and sister inspire me to be the giver that I am. My husband inspires me to be a stronger person and just be me. He also inspires me to maintain my silly. My friends inspire me in their own ways. Strangers inspire me with random acts of kindness and in other ways as well.

I hope you enjoyed getting to know me a little better.

I am not going to tag anyone….there are so many people that have been tagged for this already! If you decide to answer these questions in a post, let me know and I will check it out!

Have an amazing Tuesday!

Weekend Shenanigans- Birthday Edition

It is Monday, so it is time for the Weekend Shenanigans!

I suppose my weekend really started with Thursday night. No, I wasn’t lucky enough to have off work on Friday…but my husband randomly asked me to meet him at On Tap after work. I can literally walk to On Tap from my office…so that I did. We started out there, but they were out of all kinds of beers. We can’t have that! So we walked across the street to Five. We LOVE their shrimp queso. It is only the best appetizer on the planet. Well would you believe that they don’t have it on the menu right now? I mean WTF? So after a quick beer there….we headed on to somewhere new. Our usual’s were failing us! So we walked down to Sol Y Luna and took a table on their patio.

The patio was beautiful with twinkle lights and candles. We ordered some chips and salsa, which was delish…and chatted for awhile.

Then we tried the shredded beef flautas. They were so wonderful!

Friday – It was my last day of my twenties, so I decided to take a shameless selfie. It’s something twenty somethings love to do, right? I had an outfit similar to this in high school. Some things never change.

Friday for lunch I met some friends at Salsaritas. Yum! Friday evening Chris and I stayed in and made pizza and watched some vampire diaries.
Chris cracks me up, he put this picture on my Facebook page saying that Stephan Salvator wanted to give me some birthday love. Haha.
Saturday morning we woke up and Chris gave me 2 of my birthday presents! 🙂 He does such a great job picking things out for me!!
We met my mom, sister and her family for lunch at Moes BBQ. It was wonderful and I loved getting to see them all!
My sister made this cookie cake for me! How cute is that? It was the best cookie cake I have ever had. That girl needs to open her own cake shop.
After lunch, Chris and I stopped by his parents house for a little while, and then headed over to The Summit. He took me to Michael Kors because when he was there getting my present they told him some of their summer shoes were half off. I didn’t really see any shoes I just had to have. The sales associate offer us some champagne and talked us into a matching wallet. The wallet is amazing! It has an iPhone holder inside of it and  a little handle on it so I can just grab my wallet and not the whole bag sometimes. So convenient!
MICHAEL Michael Kors Electronics Phone Zip-Around Continental ...
We then met up with Chris’s sister and her husband for dinner at Village Tavern. All I wanted for my birthday was the crab dip! It was so amazing that I forgot to snap a picture, but I did get my grilled chicken spinach salad and the creme brulee Chris and I split for desert!
Sunday we watched a few episodes of Vampire Diaries and met all of Chris’s family at Jim n Nicks to have a birthday lunch for me. I didn’t even think about snapping pictures…duh! I don’t know what I was thinking?  We had a good time, and then it was off to do our grocery shopping for the week. Boo. Which brings us to today, realty and work. Yuck.
I snapped this picture in the car Saturday morning….Thirty. Flirty. And thriving.
Focker out.

Thirty, Flirty and Thriving

Or something like that!

It is official party peeps. This chicka is turning 30 today. How in the hell has it been 30 years? I am just as confused as you. I hear confusion comes with old age. Shit!

When you turn 30, it is supposed to be some milestone in your life. You are exiting your carefree 20’s and becoming more of an adult.I wish I could offer you some brilliant wise advice that I had gained along the way, but so far what I really learned is quite simple.

– Respect is something that is earned.

– People are going to let you down.

– Life is short. Real short. I am still confused how 30 years have slipped by me. Thinking about it just makes me depressed.

– No one is going to look out for you except for you.

– The best way to live life is to be honest, be a friend, and give your best. That is all anyone can do.

– Your number one competitor is who stares back at you in the mirror.

-Don’t care so much about what other people think.

-Karma is a bitch, don’t piss her off!

-Some of the best things in life really are free.

-Take time to enjoy little moments, they are what you will remember in the future.

Now let me tell you some questions I find myself asking regularly these days. Let it be warning of things you have to look forward to!

-Why do my knees hurt?

– I only had 3 beers, how am I hung over?

-Are those kids really in college? They look like babies! (That one stings, for real!)

– Have you seen the Alieve bottle?

– Is it supposed to rain today? My joints hurt like an old person for no reason. (Oh wait, it is because I am an old person)

– Did you hear that noise? That was my entire body cracking and popping as I walk across the bedroom floor in the morning.

– Do you just want to stay in tonight? (Because I am tired, old and boring and feel like doing NOTHING.)

– Fast food? I can’t eat that shit anymore.

– Can you turn on the news?

And I leave you with a scary thought….the day after you turn 30 you are officially closer to 40 than you are 20. Which is why I might be turning 29 again this year. All of you who keep telling me that 30 is the new 20 need to shut the front door. That isn’t true, it is just what old folks say to make themselves feel better and you know it!

Friday Five: Twenty Something Style

It’s Friday!!! That means it is time to link up for the Friday Five with Joy!

the Sowell life

Today is also officially the last days of my 20’s sooooo I am going to do the Friday Five 20 Something Style.

This is the five ways to tell if you are a twenty something.

1. You are unsure of how the phrase “permanent residence” applies to you. I moved a total of 11 times between the age of 20 and 27.

2. Your friends are just as confused as to where their lives are going as you are. It’s true, I have had countless conversations with friends about what I really want to do with my life, where I see myself in 5 years, if I want to be married, have kids, adopt 20 dogs….all of it was open and on the table for discussion.

3. You are attending a wedding and you hear someone say, “You’re next.” I would have liked to have said that some thing to them at a funeral.

4. Your paycheck and the days in the month are a little off balanced. You make the decision to eat Ramen noodles for 5 days so you can buy those new trendy shoes that will hurt your feet. YOLO. Besides you need to loose 5 lbs before the weekend anyways…and you can totally do it because you are still in your 20’s and your metabolism still works and hasn’t lost hope on you. Whore.

5. You don’t know how to send a certified letter or take your car to get the oil changed on time….but you can find out everything there is to know about an ex’s new girlfriend in 10 minutes from your cell phone.

That my friends is how to tell if you are a twenty something. Bless your hearts. Looking back, maybe I am glad I am turning 30 tomorrow!
