Comfort

So today’s Blogtember post is supposed to be a creative writing sample. I like to read fiction, not write it…so I am skipping ahead to the next topic.

React to this term: comfort

When I hear the word comfort, so many thoughts rush to my mind. To me comfort means:
– Spending time with family
-a hug
-Nike shorts and a tshirt (which is what you will ALWAYS find me in if I am at home…or yoga pants if it is super cold)
– cup of hot chocolate (with marshmallows, duh!)
-the sound of snow falling
-the sound of rain while sleeping
-a cozy fireplace
-potato soup
-a snuggle from my furbabies
-mac & cheese
-a cup of coffee and a good book
-a hoodie
-a lazy Sunday
-a day full of TV and movies
-instrumental Christmas music
-a warm blanket
-the smell of fresh laundry
–a cool pillow
-fall scented candles

What does comfort mean to you?

It’s Hump DAAAAAAAAAY and Some Pictures

So first up, I want to give a shout out to my girl Liz over at Fitness Blondie. Liz has a brand new blog hop called The Hump Day Blog Hop. We don’t question the camel, ok people?!

The Hump Day Blog Hop
Next up, it is still Blogtember and today’s post is supposed to be just pictures. Well, because there are no real rules during Blogtember, I am going to leave you with some pictures…but first I would ask any of your prayer warriors out there to keep my family in your prayers today. I don’t want to speculate too much about it right now, but someone is having some tests done today and I really hope that it is just dr’s being cautious and it is nothing serious. Speaking of family…

Memories

Today’s Topic: A memory you would love to relive.

There are so many moments in life that I would like to relive. Of course, they are all happy moments or moments that are sentimental in some way. It is so hard to pick just one. I would love to relive the obvious moments, like our wedding day. But those moments were not that long ago, and are still fresh in my mind.

The one moment I would love to relive is the last time I got to visit with my Grandma Jerry. She passed away just days after the ending of my sophomore year of high school. The last time I had seen her was the last break from school when we went to visit her. (We lived in Georgia and she was in Greensburg PA…where I am from.)  I wish I could relive hearing her laugh as we talked about past memories, or one of the many games of cards that we played together, taste one of her amazing meals, the smell of her perfume, just listening to her voice. Her calling me Deenie. My Grandma Jerry and Grandpa Carl were the only ones that I ever let call me a nickname, and they always called me Deenie.

I would give anything to relive one last moment with her. There are so many questions that I wish I would have asked her when I still had the chance.

I’ve Got Sunshine….

On a cloudy day…..Don’t even pretend you weren’t singing it!

Ashley at A Cup of Ash Tea nominated me for the Sunshine Award last week! I feel so special and honored. If you don’t know Ashley, you must hop on over to her blog and check her out! I am pretty sure that if she didn’t live all the way up north that we would be hanging out on the weekends having Mario Kart competitions and be best friends. Why haven’t we invented a way to travel quicker (cheaply) yet?
Anywhoodles….
the rules are:
1. Include the award logo in your post.
2. Link to the person who nominated you.
3. Answer 10 questions about yourself.
4. Nominate 10 bloggers to receive the award.
Ashley’s Questions:
1) What is the best book you’ve read recently?
I have been reading the Harry Potter series and am currently on book 4. I have never read these books before or seen the movies, so I am amazed at how wonderfully they are written and how much I enjoy reading them. If you haven’t given them a try, you really should. I thought they were lame kids books….but I thought wrong! (It hasn’t been known to happen often….)
2) What’s something that you do every day?
Wash my face. No matter how tired I am or how much I don’t feel good, I ALWAYS wash my face before bed.
3) What are you most looking forward to this fall?
Football season, pumpkin spice lattes, Halloween decorations, apple everything, fun seasonal beers, cooler weather, Thanksgiving food, Black Friday shopping with my mom, watching the leaves change colors, the crisp morning air, fall clothes, fall colors, sooo much more! Did I mention cooler weather?!
4) Share a link to your favorite post you have ever written.
I am not sure which post is my favorite, but I do like my 10 reasons why I will never be a grown up post I did last month when I turned 30.
10 Reasons I Will Never Be A Grown Up

5) If you had to live in a decade other than the current one, which would you choose?
The 1920’s looked like fun with all the flappers and jazz music.

6) Starting with the oldest picture on your phone, what is the 6th photo you have saved?

My Gracie doodles! There was a 98% chance it was a dog picture….

7) If you could travel anywhere and money was no option, where would you go?
I would visit Europe. Eat in Italy, drink beer in Germany, go shopping in France and then come back to the US and go to Disney World!!!!

8) If you had to choose one food to eat the rest of your life, what would you pick?
Oh my that is a difficult one! Probably my mom’s Pierogies.

9) What was your favorite toy when you were a child?
My care bear. I took her EVERYWHERE!!! My grandma Jerry got her for me when I was 2 and I slept with that bear every night of my life until the year after I graduated college and got Gracie. Any stuff toy was game to Gracie…so I had to start keeping Love-A-Lot in my closet. She is still in my closet to this day!

10) Tell me something that you like about yourself. (:
I like that I am real. I don’t ever try to be someone I am not. I would like to think others appreciate that about me too!

My 10 questions:
1. If you could be any animal on the planet, which would you choose and why?
2. What is the best piece of advice you have ever received?
3. What is your favorite TV show of all time?
4. If you could have any job in the world and it didn’t matter how much money you made or what qualifications you needed, what would it be?
5. What is your favorite holiday movie?
6. Suggest a new blog for me to read.
7. What is something that you are loving right now? (This could be anything! A new top, something on Pinterest, a book you are reading….anything!!!)
8. What is your favorite nail polish color?
9. What is your favorite season?
10. Tell me something that most people don’t know about you.

Who I nominate:
Joanna @ Jaybird’s Flight
SMD @ Life According to Steph
Liz @ Fitness Blondie
Joy @ The Sowell Life
Heather @ From Here to There
Lauren @ Simply Southern, Simply Lauren
Kathy @ Vodka and Soda

A Public Letter to My Mom

Today’s Topic: Write a public love letter to someone in your life. (It doesn’t have to be romantic.)

Dear Mom,

Thanks for being not only a wonderful mother, but my best friend. You always know what to say to make me smile or laugh. You have always encouraged me to be who I am and stay true to myself. You have given me all the love and inspiration in the world. You have always believed in me, and made sure that I knew.

You and I are shopping partners in crime. Which is probably a bad thing since we are always encouraging each other to buy items that are super cute and finding ways to justify the purchase. Exhibit A in my weekend recap post earlier today! One of my most favorite days every year is Black Friday because I know that, as tradition, we will be out shopping with all the crazies for 18+ hours on little to no sleep and loving every minute of it. My favorite part of that day each year isn’t all our awesome finds…but I mean come on they are freaking awesome…but the time that I get to spend with you. Laughing, reminiscing on the previous years shenanigans and already counting down the days until next years trip when we part ways that evening. Every day with you is the best day, and I can’t tell you enough how much I love you and how thankful I am that you are my mom.

Love Always,

Nadine
