weekend shenanigans

Weekend Shenanigans

Did you remember to spring forward? I must say that 4:35 AM felt extra early this morning! Let’s just jump in to my weekend shenanigans, shall we?

Friday was a weird day. I woke up to 54 degrees inside our house, as our heat had broken over night. Fun times. I ended up skipping my run because who wants to shower when it is 54 degrees inside? Not me! I got to work to discover that the thermostat was broken and cold as shit as well. At lunch I went to meet my lunch club and it took me about 20 minutes to find a parking spot because the shopping center was ridiculous and everyone else was already there so we couldn’t change locations. Shout out to Courtney for standing in line a second time to place my order for me! So Friday evening, we stayed in and enjoyed the warmth of our newly fixed heater.

Saturday we got up and headed to a thrift store and flea market in Moody. We then headed down town for lunch at Babalu. We got to sit outside on the patio and enjoy the weather’s spring preview. It was such a gorgeous day! From there we took an impromptu trip up I-65 North and hit a few thrift stores between Birmingham and Huntsville. We saw some really pretty views along the way.

We called our friends that live in Huntsville and ended up meeting them at Stem and Stein for some beers. I tried the Wells Sticky Toffee Pudding Ale and OMG it was freaking delicious!!!! This is the smoothest beer I have ever had. No bite afterwards. It is darker without being heavy.

Unfortunately, our service was a little less than stellar, so we decided to head somewhere else to grab food. We ended up at the Moe’s BBQ in the Providence area of Huntsville. I love that area, there are a ton of restaurants and it is a cute spot.

Sunday I had to run up to my dad’s house and I got to see his new puppy, Vixon. She is ADORABLE!!! I meant to snap a picture but I was too busy playing and receiving puppy breath kisses. She is a boxer/rottweiler mix. They rescued her from a really bad situation and she is such a sweet baby! Here is a picture the day they brought her home. She is like double this size already! Look at her white socks!

I then headed to the grocery store and came home and made Stephanie’s No Bake Energy Bites. These things are freaking delicious and you must try them! The rest of the day was spent watching reruns of The Big Bang Theory and laundry.

Weekend Eats

In other news, I finally painted my nails! This is Revlon Lavender Soap! They have put all of the Parfumerie line on clearance at Target for $1.48. Score!

Revlon Lavender Soap

It is a little hard to tell in my picture, but it is a pearly-lavender color. I just love it! It it smells just like lavender soap!

I hope everyone had a fabulous weekend! If you live in the Birmingham area, next Saturday is Eat Drink Birmingham! I am SOOOOO freaking excited for this event. Go ahead and pre-order your tickets now!

Hope you have a great week! I for one am excited that it is going to be light when I leave work tonight!!! Well, as light as it can be seeing as it is all gloomy and rainy today…

that is a pretty color. i was at target yesterday to see if i could score some of their liquidation deals and to also use my gift card since they’re going out of business here…then i saw the line-up (massive), put down the stuff i wanted to buy and left because i am not waiting in line for 30mins!

What a rough start to your weekend, but I’m glad it turned around for you! And of course I totes approve of the polish purchases! And as for the e-card–that would make more sense, wouldn’t it? Ugh.

Glad your weekend ended up okay! Sticky Toffee Pudding Ale – whaaaat?! That sounds wonderful and Vixon is adorable! I also second that first e-card if we want to start a push to get Daylight Savings moved 🙂

OMG! That puppy is too cute! It almost makes me want to get another. Almost. It sounds like you had a fun, relaxing weekend! I need to visit some thrift stores to look for a few big items to up cycle, but you have to be in the right mood to dig 🙂

I’m going to join the rest of the crowd here – what a cute puppy!!! And I was thinking about making those! Now that it’s vetted by Nadine, I’ll put it on the “definitely” list instead of the “maybe” list. Lol! Although there have been so many good food recommendations lately, I can’t keep up. I still have to try your peanut butter cookie recipe again, the non-lazy way this time.

I can’t believe that polish is only $1.48 – I need to run to Target and scoop a couple up! And your Dad’s new puppy is so adorable – I can’t take those white tipped puppy paws!!

  • Reply Amanda Elizabeth March 9, 2015 at 3:23 pm

Awwwww so sweet!!! Want to squeeze that little puppy!! Ohhh I am intrigued does it smell like it the whole time or only when it dries? Mark gets so aggravated when I paint my nails but maybe that is a compromise?

  • Reply kristen March 9, 2015 at 3:50 pm

aww Vixon is so cute!! love those little socks. You guys have been all about the thrift stores lately, thats awesome! boo to all the heat issues though, jeepers creepers that would suck! i made steph’s no bake bites as well.. and KC has already eaten them all haha!

omg, that’s so frustrating about your heat! Good thing it wasn’t any colder than that and you got it up and running again!

  • Reply SMD @ Life According to Steph March 9, 2015 at 4:25 pm

    PUPPY! I want one.

I am so glad your heat was fixed the same day. I can speak from experience when I say ain’t nobody got time for that.

  • Reply jackie March 9, 2015 at 4:50 pm

oh my gosh the heat was broken at my office on friday too! so annoying. and pupppppppy! so cute and love that they rescued her!

  • Reply Pamela March 9, 2015 at 4:57 pm

What a fun weekend! I love thrift shopping! That seriously sucks about your heat. No thank you! That would make me not want to get out of bed. Although the time change made me not want to get out of bed this morning… Love that nail polish color! SO pretty!!

  • Reply tricia coniglio March 9, 2015 at 4:58 pm

Hmmm… Maybe it was my work computer. Sucks about the heat!!! I really want those enchiladas and energy things. Every time I read blogs I just have this overwhelming urge to eat…. a lot.

The puppy is soooo cute! We need a buddy for our dog and puppies are cute as hell but I don’t want to train them.

  • Reply Kerry March 9, 2015 at 5:47 pm

So sorry about the heat but glad you were able to get it fixed. That puppy is adorable, and I am sure won’t stay little for long!

  • Reply Emily @ Martinis & Bikinis March 9, 2015 at 10:24 pm

Sounds like a fun filled weekend with a busy, busy Saturday. I’ve never gone thrift store shopping. Is there anything specific you guys look for? Glad your heater got fixed so quickly. I would stay in bed all day if it were that cold in my house. lol Vixen is a cutie!!

  • Reply Ralph Marion March 10, 2015 at 9:02 am

It seems like during the weekends y’all go to thrift store a lot. Not mad at ya though.

  • Reply Kay R. March 10, 2015 at 2:48 pm

4:35 am?? You should still be in bed at that time. And you woke up to no heat too yikes. That puppy is adorable!!

  • Reply Teh Megan March 11, 2015 at 1:01 pm

I wanted to be a huge fan of sticky toffee pudding ale because sticky toffee pudding is my absolute FAVORITE DESSERT EVAAARRRRRR.. but I’m not really a big beer fan, so it was eh. I tolerated Pineapple Ale much better.. but I’d rather drink Mike’s Hard Blood Orange Lemonades all the day long.

I’m not even playin, if you happen to stumble across some Disney books while you’re thriftin’, I would repay you if you got them for me. My sister wants to do origami flowers for the bouquets in her wedding out of Disney paper.. which sounds awesome in theory.. IF we can get enough books.
