–I am not going to include any spoilers because I hate spoilers…but I cried like a freaking baby watching Grey’s Anatomy last week. Like big alligator tears and some mini sobs. Chris laughed at me and was like, it’s just TV this isn’t real. That’s not the point!!! #alloftheemotions

–Speaking of being ridiculous while watching TV, I squealed when the “devil” came through the door in This is the End. Again, Chris was like…this is supposed to be a funny movie not a scary one. But but that was a scary part! Clearly I get way too involved while watching TV. Also it was scary looking…see…#scary

–Every time I see someone post a beach picture I want to slap them. Because I am a jealous whore. It has been too long! Come on July!!! #needavacationyesterday

–I might have gotten a little too excited when I heard about the free update for Mario Kart 8 that includes a 200cc class!!! I can’t wait to try it out this weekend! #gamingnerd

–I went to happy hour last night with some friends and did not have a single drop of alcohol or any food. I was just there to socialize. You in fact can socialize without consuming calories. Who knew? #Progress

–Speaking of which, can I just say how amazing this community is? I had so many people encouraging and in believing in me yesterday and that felt great. Some of you even said you were in the same place. I just love how we can all come together and relate to each other. #Love love love.

No More Excuses

Do you ever look at the last year and think really? That was all I had to give? Sometimes I do that. I look back over the last year and know that I worked out 5 days a week, maybe only skipping a day or two here and there due to illness or what not….but I showed up 5 days a week and worked out. I completed the entire body beast program, I did the C25K program, random work outs with the Pop Sugar Fitness girls. And yet here I sit, looking back over the last year and where is the change I wanted to see?

Sure, I can certainly see more muscle definition in my arms, back, shoulders, and legs. But what about my trouble area? You know the area I am talking about. The one that stares at you in the face every time you look in the mirror or see a picture of yourself.

I am not going to discredit myself and say that the last year was a waste, because it certainly was not. I am stronger than I have ever been. I have more energy than I have had in awhile. I have more endurance than I could imagine. Just a year ago, I could barely cut the grass without wanting to die and now I can do the whole thing like a beast.

But what I also have had this last year is a plateau. The scale isn’t budging. It hasn’t budged at all. In fact, due to muscle gain it went up a few pounds. And we can sit here and say all day that the scale doesn’t matter and blah blah blah. But I call bullshit.

I want more.

We all know that abs are made in the kitchen. I do pretty good during the week, but I am not perfect. And the weekends? Well, I end up snacking on the same things that Chris does because it is easy and if he is having cheese sticks, well I should have some too! And I deserve a burger and fries because I have been good all week, right? And a few beers would be nice because last week was super stressful. And pasta? Sure, why not.

No more excuses.

I know that if I do not try harder, and cut more….I am not going to see a change. I am going to stay on this plateau. Just keep being ok instead of being awesome. Because I KNOW that I have it in me. I know that I can do better.

I started making small changes last week. Last night when I got home, I got two awesome packages in the mail!

I received The No More Excuses book to review. I am so excited to dive in to this! It looks like it has some great work outs and some healthy advice. I will have a review on it when I am done. Also, Mia sent me some Spark to try.

I have been pinning some new recipes, and I want to bring back a 6th day of work outs. I want to get serious about giving yoga a real shot this time. I am going to make Yoga Sundays a thing. Alyssa, Tracy and Kristen have all encouraged me in some way or another and I think I am ready.

I also plan on cleaning up the eating even more. I have lots of room for improvement, especially on the weekends. I plan to do just that. I think I am finally in the right mindset of needing to fuel my body with better things to feel better. It has taken forever to get here, but I am here.

So I am linking up with Training for Tuesday because I am on a new training plan. Healthy insides makes for a healthy outside! No more excuses!!! Who is with me?

Weekend Shenanigans

Can you believe this is the last week of April?

To be honest, I hate seeing the date April 27th. I have written a post on the events of April 27, 2011 here, for those of you who do not live in the south and may not know what went down. (Some of the pictures were lost when I transferred over from blogger.) I am thankful every day that my sister, brother-in-law, nieces, nephews and my dad are all still here. The people who were lost that day will never be forgotten.

This morning the sun is bright and shining and it looks like it is going to be a pretty day, so there’s that! Moving along…

This weekend we stayed pretty chill. Friday night we got caught up on some of our shows and headed to bed pretty early.

Saturday we celebrated our nephew’s 5th birthday party at Chuck E Cheese. Chris ended up getting us a bunch of tokens, so we played a lot of games and gave the birthday boy all of our tickets. After, we headed over to my sister-in-laws house and helped them unload all the birthday stuff and hung around for several hours just sitting and chatting on her back porch. One of the great pleasures of living in the south is all the porch time we can enjoy with the weather!

After breakfast on Sunday, I headed outside to cut the grass. I only got the front and side done…damn pollen and weeds! My allergies were going crazy yesterday. We got our meal planning and grocery shopping done and settled in for some movies! We watched This is the End and Neighbors. Both movies were decent. This is the End had some really stupid parts, but also some really funny parts. And I loved how the movie ended. Everything is better with a performance from BSB!!!

And that was my weekend folks! Those of you who curse me for my food porn on the weekends shall be happy there were no food pictures to be seen here today. Trying to keep myself in check. This girl had zero birthday cake this weekend.

I hope everyone has a fabulous week!!!

Linking up with Biana.

Favorite Pin: Navy and white are always classic. I love everything about this picture! I could see myself curled up in one of those chairs reading for hours.

We love a good theme. Bring touches a favorite vacation or seaside beach trip to your home. Updating a space around a theme is an easy way to design a room but don’t go overboard with accents. We loved this nautical inspired room with navy blue stripes, rope inspired area rug and accent pouf paired with anchor-inspired accent light. Easy to see how a few simple elements evoke the spirit of your theme with color, texture and decorative finds.

Favorite Recipe: Last week I made my Mexican Skillet Casserole and it is always amazing. Always. Not to mention, you only have one pan to clean and um…cheese.

Listening – A shit ton of podcasts!!! (I am so accurate with measurements, right?) I have been soaking up podcasts every time I get in the car. It really makes my commute enjoyable. I caught up with Being Boss and have started on The Lively Show and Undisclosed. If you loved Serial, you need to check out Undisclosed!

Reading – Promises to Keep by Jane Green. I am a little more than half way through this book. I don’t love it as much as The Beach House but it is still a good read.

Watching – We watched Revenge the other night. It seems like they had tied up a lot of things. I wonder if this is the last season? We also watched Scandal…OMG! I wont share spoilers but if you have seen it, WTF?!

Looking Forward – Laura and I are meeting up for lunch today and tonight after work we are going to GBHS to play with dogs. There is something so therapeutic about going there and taking the dogs out in the play yard. It really is one of the highlights of my week.

Lusting – I tried this dress on last weekend at Loft but it was $104. I was like ummm no. Not for a dress. It is on sale now…ahhhhhh

Planning – Spending Saturday celebrating our five year old nephew’s birthday!

Working on- I saw some SUPER cute office stuff last weekend when I was out with my mom. I have some ideas swimming around in this brain of mine of what I want to do with my office space. Finally.
