about me, currently

Currently

Hey there Friday Eve!!!

Right now I am currently…

Reading: Before We Met – I picked up this gem at the thrift store for $0.49! Heck yes! I am only two chapters in but they describe this book as the British Gone Girl. I haven’t read that one yet either…

Watching: We have been binging on Chicago PD. Love this show!!! They have done two crossover episodes with SVU and two with Chicago Fire, so it is pretty cool to see the characters interacting between those casts. We finished up season 1 last night.

Listening to: I have been listening to my country play list a lot this past week when I am not listening to Podcast. Speaking of podcasts, anyone else listen to Disclosed this week for Jay’s Day? Crazy, huh?!?!?!

Wearing: The crap out of all my spring/summer dresses and my denim jacket! We have been in the 80’s and 90’s around these parts lately and it has been fabulous. Enjoying it every second I can before it gets too hot.

Lusting: Some new work out gear. I have been wearing the same few outfits for the last two years. They are starting to get worn out pretty bad!

Discover Stylish Fitness Apparel & Gear at prices up to 70% Off! Everything you need to feel and look your best while working out! At zulily you'll find something special every day of the week!

Wishing: Chris a very Happy Birthday!!! Today is his birthday, the fifth one that we are spending together. I wake up every day blessed to be by his side. We have been through so much the last five years, me moving out here, buying our first home, getting married, adding another dog to our family. He makes me laugh every day!

Confessions

–The internet at my office kept going in and out yesterday and I felt like I was a citizen of a third world country. It reminded me of the old dial up days. It also reminded me that I have zero patience for technology. #firstworldproblems

–Revenge is over. We watched the last episode on Monday night and I am not sure what will happen to my Monday now?! I feel sad that we will no longer have Nolan in our lives. I hate to admit it, but it was time for that show to end. I mean, where else were they going to go with it? Still, I always feel a loss when a great show ends. I am also sad that The Mindy Project was cancelled. #theyarefictionalletthemgo

–I saw someone tweet that they were so excited about the Bachelor or Bachelorette starting back up and I wanted to respond to them with “LAME!!!” Because really….I can’t stand those shows. I know I am in the minority. #whocares

–Speaking of not caring for shows, you won’t see any tears shed here about the demise of American Idol. It ran it’s course a long time ago. Does anyone even watch it still? #byefelicia #yourenotthenextamericanidol

–Sometimes when I hear a song for the first time, I think it is awful and it annoys the shit out of me when I hear it. Then….out of no where…I start liking it. Does this happen to anyone else? Uptown Funk comes to mind here. #butitscatchy #girlhityourhallelujah

–I have the hardest time finding the will to paint my nails. Why do they have to take so long to dry? Committing to an hour of not doing anything with my hands is too much for me. #patience

–Bloglovin is getting a big fuck you from me. All this week it hasn’t been giving me new updated posts from everyone and I have to “mark as read” myself on the posts it does give me. I started transferring stuff over to Feedly but it is taking some time. Sorry if I missed any of your posts this week. #fuckbloglovin

The No More Excuses Diet

A few weeks ago I posted about how I am no longer making excuses. A big inspiration for my revelation is from receiving the book The No More Excuses Diet by Maria Kang. I am sure you have heard of her, right? The inspirational picture of her with her three boys went viral last year!

No More Excuses Diet

Before you roll your eyes and close out of this post thinking you have no desire to read about a fitness book…hear me out. This is more than a fitness book, it is a lifestyle book. Maria shares her story about how she struggled with her weight and how hard she worked to get where she is all while balancing real life. Her approach isn’t mind blowing, but sometimes you need to hear what you already know. She sets up a program and a three step cycle of nutrition and fitness that you can follow for the rest of your life. I hate that the word “diet” is in the title, because it is so much more than a “diet.”

The program includes three phases that you can repeat over and over in achieving your goals. The phases are SPEED, STRIVE and SCORE. The book includes illustrated work out pictures, several different charts and a real plan to achieve any goal…whether it is losing weight, running a 5K, etc. I appreciate Maria’s fresh approach to the whole topic. She has lots of great tips and encourages you every step of the way without filling your head with useless fluff.

My favorite section of the book is chapter 7. It talks about 80% of your efforts, food. She breaks down a macro-nutrients plan explaining why you should be getting a certain amount of protein/carbs/fat. She puts portions in terms you can understand and suggests some ideal daily meal plans.

I highly suggest this book if you are looking for motivation to make a change in your life.

You can read more about the book and author here.

Disclosure: I received this book from Blogging for Books for this review. All opinions are my own.

weekend shenanigans

Weekend Shenanigans

I started this morning off with a run, which was rough since I didn’t do a minute of cardio last week! But damn to I feel good right now! It might also have to do with downing some Spark that Mia sent me before hopping on that treadmill. There might be crack in that packet or something because I seriously feel so amazing and focused right now.

I started out this weekend with a good TV binge on all of our shows Friday evening. Saturday morning, I got up and cleaned the house and cut just the front yard. Damn weeds. They ruin everything.

We were off to do some mother’s day shopping and thrifting after that. We ended up at Jack Brown’s for lunch. It had been too long. Freaking delicious!

We also walked around What’s on 2nd, which is always a cool experience!

Sunday we headed to Pell City to meet my mom, sister and her family for Mother’s Day lunch at Hwy 55. After that, we went to Bargain Hunt and then grabbed Starbucks. I finally got to try the Smores Frap! Delicious!!!  We went to Chris’s sister’s house to celebrate Mother’s Day with his family, then got our grocery shopping done.

The rest of the evening was spent binging on Chicago PD. Love that show!!!

This weekend in dogs…

I had to finish this post from my phone, so if it looks wonky…sorry! I hope everyone had a fabulous week!

beauty, friday favorites

Friday Favorites

Favorite Song: I find myself singing along to this song when it comes on. Bright by Echosmith.

Favorite Beauty Product:  I received two new Cover Girl products from Influenster that I am in love with!

The mascara is called The Super Sizer, and super sized indeed!!! If you look at the wand below, it is very detailed and smaller than your normal mascara wand. My lashes are short and thin. I usually have to be really careful with mascaras because they tend to clump easily on me. Not this one! I love how build-able this one is! If I want a simple day look, I can just swipe twice on each eye and have decent looking lashes. If I really want the wow factor, I can just swipe a few more coats and it looks like I am wear fake eye lashes.

My favorite thing about it? It comes off easily with my Neutrogena eye makeup remover. Something I am finding harder to do these days with most mascaras for whatever reason.

The eyeliner made me a little nervous because it is liquid. When I opened the packaging though, I realized that you can use it on it’s side for a thinner, more precise line…or you can use it flat for a thicker, more dramatic look. I have played both ways and the results are awesome! I am no longer afraid of liquid liner.

I really liked this formula because it stays black, not some weird color when color when it dries. It is super precise and it did not run or smudge all day.

Favorite Moments: I did a lot more than I usually do during the week! We hosted a food drive Wednesday night and got to hang out with some awesome people at World of Beer. Yesterday for lunch I met up with my usual Friday group (minus Courtney, whom we missed!) to try PT’s of Soho, which did not disappoint. Then last night we had a girls night at Saw’s Juke Joint.

The space at PT’s of Soho was fun. They had arcade games in the back and a great patio area outside. I ordered a salad with a cup of chili. The other’s at my table split fried green tomatoes. I am not a fan of fried green tomatoes, but they looked pretty so I had to snap a picture at least!

Favorite Snack: I am loving the Yoplait Greek Whips Vanilla Cupcake. Yes, you read that correctly….Vanilla Cupcake!!!! The texture of the whips is my favorite and the flavor….oh the flavor!!!!

Favorite Funnies:

This is the kind of yoga I can totally get down with!

How I am probably going to look Monday when I get back to running…

How you respond at the ridiculousness of some people…

How I felt at the beginning of the week
