Confessions

Hey there, Wednesday!!! It is time to spill all your secrets with Kathy and I!

–When I talk about a hard work out to a fitness badass, I feel like they are saying #butdidyoudie

–I haven’t looked at my fall goals in quite some time. So long actually that I forgot what they were. I sort of don’t care either. #slacker

–I have an obsession with looking at houses. Sometimes when I am looking for a distraction on the internet, I might browse a house or five in the area. I would blame HGTV for this, but I have loved looking at houses since I was in high school. It was the deciding factor that pushed me to decide on my major (real estate.) #reallifehousehunters

–I have to cut out tags out of so many of my shirts because I cant handle the scratchy feeling! #firstworldproblems

funny quotes of the day | Funny Pictures 1

–I have had my Christmas cards ready to go out for a week but they are still sitting on my kitchen table. Why? Because I hate going to the post office and I need stamps! I guess that is what I will be doing on my lunch break today. #sayalittleprayerforme

–Have you ever read an article about someone you know that was full of lies and you want to go to the magazine/newspaper and set them straight on the real truth?! #fakepeoplesuck

–This warm weather is beyond depressing you guys. I want to feel the Christmas magic so bad but I can’t because it is 70 degrees and hot as fuck. Normally I am Buddy Elf and fifty shades of giddy this time of year. Instead I feel like the Grinch before his heart grew three sizes. #dreamingofawhitechristmas (I would settle for one that was less than 60 degrees!!!!)

–When I hear about a new restaurant opening, I have to figure out an excuse to go immediately! The food blog makes a great excuse! #priorities

–My real life friends who know nothing of my blog are all texting me asking WTF is up with all my funny Barbie pictures on Instagram. Non bloggers just don’t understand!!!  #youcantsitwithus #joinme

Books Lately

The Little Bookshop on the Seine by Rebecca Raisin

23868734

First of all, this book takes place around Christmas time!!! YES!!!! When I read the synopsis, I felt like the book sort of had the same premise of The  Holiday. I just adored that movie. A lot of the characters that are in the gingerbread cafe series are in this book. You don’t have to have read those books to appreciate this one (I didn’t). This is actually the first book in Rebecca Raisin’s Paris series.

I really loved how Sarah owned a bookshop and how she describes her books as her babies. How she can hear her books speak to her. You really felt like you were in her little shop! And her descriptions of Paris made me want to visit there!!! This would be a great read for the travel lover. Sarah has a bit of a struggle adapting to the faster pace environment of Paris, and is homesick being away from her friends and little town. The book store keeps her busy but she starts to settle in and really experience the City of Love. Getting to see Paris through Sarah’s eyes was so much fun!

After reading about all the sites, shops and food around Paris…I am ready for my visit!! If you are in the mood for a light, heart warming read, this book is for you! It was so cute.

Bottom Line: This is my second Rebecca Raisin book, and I really enjoy her as an author. I highly recommend this book to people who just love books, love to travel or just want a warm and fuzzy read. Especially one that is holiday themed!

What Alice Forgot by Liane Moriarty

I read and loved The Husband’s Secret and Big Little Lie’s last month, so I wanted to keep binging on my love for Liane Moriarty. What Alice Forgot was such an amazing read! I think it is my new favorite from Moriarty. I liked that you learn about Alice’s life through some of her memories, but more so through Elizabeth’s letters to her psychiatrist and Frannie’s letters to her fiance. This book really made me think about what would happen if I lost 10 years of my life. I share snippets here on this blog, but it has me wondering if I should start keeping a journal as well.

This book also has me thinking about relationships. Not just my relationship with my husband…but my family and friends as well. Every relationship we have has it’s ups and downs, and as long as your good memories out weigh the bad, then shouldn’t it be considered a success? It made me think about the little things that we can get caught up on that in the grand scheme of things, doesn’t matter. It also made me think about myself as a teenager and twenty something. What would my younger self think of my current self? Would she be proud?

Bottom Line: This was a great book! I did this via audiobook like I did the other two by Liane Moriarty. I highly recommend this author!

Modern Romance by Aziz Ansari

I did this via audiobook, and loved that Aziz is the one to read it. He cracks me up! This book is more than just a funny comedy. There is actual research, study groups, etc that is shared to discuss how people meet and get in to relationships. It was stated that in 2010 25% of people met online. It was cool that Aziz actually mentions OKCupid. Chris and I can be a statistic that was married off from that site! Of course, this is much more common now than it even was then. It still felt like people shamed online relationships back then.

Bottom Line: This is a great read. Not only do you laugh, but you might learn a thing or two. Or at least be able to spit out some new statistics in a conversation!

Inconceivable by Cherrie Mack

Inconceivable is sort of a modern day Cinderella story. You had the poor girl, the rich step sister, a fairy godmother and an evil step mom. But with a twist! Because the fairy godmother was a good looking guy with tattoos. Allie was given a little black box after her step father passed away. When she opens it, she doesn’t realize how her life is about to be changed. The little black box is supposed to be passed on, so this sets up for a series of books based on what is inside the little black box!

The moral of the story: You might not always need what you think you you want.

Bottom Line: This was a cute twist on Cinderella that I finished in the matter of just a few hours. I enjoyed it well enough to pass the time. It wasn’t mind blowing by any means, but I enjoyed it.

weekend shenanigans

Weekend Shenanigans

You know that deep sleep? The one when your alarm goes off and you have no clue where you are, what day it is, or why that annoying sound is blaring? That was me this morning. Jillian does not appreciate the fact that it is Monday morning during and kicked my ass this morning during the shred. Let’s get in to my weekend shenanigans!

On Friday, I grabbed a quick beer with the co-workers at Side Bar before heading home. Team building! Come to me Terrapin Moo Hoo.

Side Bar

I spent a lot of time this weekend sitting around as Chris fixed people’s computers. He recovered my co-worker’s stuff off a bad hard drive, fixed a friend’s server and his dad’s media computer all within like a 12 hour span. It has to be both amazing and awful for him to be so damn good at what he does.

Saturday was the SEC Championship game. The one where my beloved Crimson Tide rolled all over those Gators and served up some Gator Bites for dinner! We watched the game at Chris’s parents house.

Cheers, Griffith!!!

If Henry doesn’t win the Heisman this year, that is going to be some bullshit.

Sunday was a day of meal planning, prepping getting caught up on our shows and I finished reading Inconceivable . I really focused on my meal planning this week. Everything is super healthy. Gotta keep on track before I eat all the Christmas cookies in two weeks!

Linking up with Biana. I hope you all have a fabulous week!!! I like to think of it as only two more full work weeks left for this year! We can do this!!!

friday favorites

Friday Favorites

Favorite Song: Where Are You Christmas by Faith Hill – I love this song, I love The Grinch, everything about it is perfect! That and to be honest, I am still not feeling the full Christmas spirit yet this year. I am not sure why? Perhaps it has been the warm weather? Or the fact that I can’t even believe it is December?! Either way, this song gets me.

Favorite Moments:

–Lunch with Laura this week!!! We went to Babalu, one of our favorite places to hit up. They have amazing table side guacamole, the best enchiladas of the day and delicious adult beverages that we may have partaken in over lunch. Rose sangria? Don’t mind if I do!

–Getting this text from my sister, Cooper is freaking hilarious! He is one of my five year old nephews. The fact that he thought about growing a  popcorn kernel tree is so cute. Then telling Tracy that he wouldn’t ask a girl to a dance because she would rip his ear off?? She does threaten that she is going to keep them locked up until they are 30 hahaha. There is some noise about Christopher (my ten year old nephew) asking a girl to their school holiday dance!! And so it begins….

Favorite Work Out: This 20 minute full body workout from Popsugar Fitness is no joke!

Favorite Recipe: After all the holiday indulgence that I partook in the last week, it is time to lighten things up! I still want to keep it fun though, so these Quinoa and Chard Spring Rolls look perfect!

Still stuffed? Lighten up your week with these Quinoa and Chard Fresh Spring Rolls. I light and healthy recipe to get you back on track after your Thanksgiving binge |Betsylife.com:

Favorite Lusts:

I am lusting over all of the stripes lately! This striped shirt is a great find at $16!!!

I could use this shirt for the SEC Championship this weekend!!! Roll Tide!!!

Favorite Links:

–Stephanie shared her recipe for Dog Poop Soup. While the name might be quite funny, this is serious! Her dogs have been doing so much better since she has made the switch and it has me second guessing the expensive dry food I feed mine.

–Check out LC’s penthouse! Can I just move in to that closet, please?

–Add this one move to your routine to work out your entire body!

–What is the most popular nail polish color in your state? I haven’t seen anyone wearing Alabama’s.

about me, currently

Currently

Reading: I started Inconceivable this week. I am only a chapter in, so it is hard to say if I am going to like it or not. It is supposed to be a Cinderella type story. I have a feeling it is going to be disappointing, but maybe not!

Watching:We have been watching season 5 of Friends this week since most of our shows are starting to break for the holidays.

Listening: I started listening to The Hypnotist’s Love Story on Audible Monday night. I am loving it!! Just like every other Liane Moriarty book that I have read.

Thinking: About what to get my mom for Christmas. She is so easy to buy for because she loves everything. But that also makes it hard because I have so many ideas, I don’t know which one to go for!!! What are you getting your mom for Christmas?

Working on:I have a few posts in the works for mine and Laura’s Besties do Bham blog. I just need to bust them out!

Changing: My eating habits! I have been bad the last few weeks guys. Bad. Bad. Bad. I have had burgers and fries two days in a row, ate all the things for Thanksgiving, had candy nearly every day. Got to get back to being good most of the time with just a few treats in between. Sugar is the first thing to go. Peace out you addicting devil!

Working Out: Started Julian Michael’s 30 Day Shred again. I like to go back to this work out once or twice a year when I want a restart. I will be combining that with my running.

Drinking: Simply Balanced Organic Herbal Tropical Hibiscus Tea from Target. Do yourself a flavor and get on this! I am on my second box and I can’t stop won’t stop.

Sending: Christmas cards! I started addressing them last night. I need to get stamps. Hopefully there are cute Christmas ones left at the post office!

Excited: Lunch with Laura today! We made a vow to meet up more often, and well we have stuck to it.

Linking up with Joey. Happy Friday Eve!
