I had to buy a bag of regular (not baby cut) carrots at the grocery store a few weeks ago and I was determined to put them all to use. My sister mentioned that she makes fries with hers and I thought that sounded like a great idea!!!
Now I have to admit, I pulled a little trickery on my husband. If I would have told him we were having carrot fries, he probably would have turned up his nose at them. I have determined over the last six years that carrots aren’t his favorite vegetable. He is more of a green beans or potato kind of guy.
I decided to go ahead and make these and wait until he had a few to ask what he thought. This is how the conversation went….
Me: So what do you think of the fries?
Chris: These are really good! You did something different with them, a new seasoning or something?
Me: Close. Instead of using potatoes, I used carrots.
**crickets for a few seconds**
Chris: Carrots?
Me: Yup. They are pretty good, huh?
Chris: I like these better than regular fries! I am calling my mom and telling her you tricked me in to eating some carrots.
And there you have it folks, these carrot fries are husband approved!!!
WHAT YOU NEED
10 carrots
1-2 tablespoons of olive oil
pepper, sea salt, garlic powder and thyme
WHAT YOU DO
Cut the carrots into thin strips, about a half inch wide and 3-5 inches long.
Place carrots in a bowl and drizzle the olive oil. Season with pepper, salt, thyme and garlic powder and mix around until the seasoning and olive oil is distributed evenly on to all the carrots.
Lay out in a single row on a baking sheet covered with parchment paper.
Bake in the oven at 400 degrees for 25-30 minutes. I flipped them half way through so that they cooked evenly.
Another weekend has come and gone and I am sitting here this morning scratching my head and wondering how it could possibly be Monday morning already??? I basically got done nothing that I wanted to do this weekend. Well, with the exception of watching allllll of Fuller House!!!
How rude!!! Of course I am still watching, Netflix!!! Don’t be so judgy.
Us girls met up Friday for lunch at Birmingham Breadworks. I have been there before to crab coffee and a pastry, but this was our first time eating lunch there. I ordered The Bham sandwich with a fruit side salad and the three of us split a chocolate tart for desert. Holy yum!!!
Saturday Chris and I had an errand to run early, so I didn’t really get to clean the house like usual. After the errand, we hit up some thrift stores, had Chuy’s for lunch and stopped by What’s on 2nd downtown. Check out these awesome Snoopy collector plates we got for a steal!
I cant wait to find a really good antique glass cabinet to display all of our items we have collected over the years. Right now they are all wrapped up in boxes in one of our guest rooms. One day….one day!
Saturday evening we came home and I made up a sausage and cheese plate and we caught up on a few of our shows.
Sunday I got our meal planning and grocery shopping done early, then I stopped and grabbed some pizzas and took them up to my sister’s house for my nephews Spiderman party! My BIL disappeared in the middle of the party and Spiderman came out and surprised Cooper while he opened his presents. It was so cute, the little dude was speechless! That never happens with him.
And just like that, the weekend was over and we are back to reality.
Linking up with Biana. I hope you guys have a great week!
Favorite Song: Sometimes you just need to throw it back old school and rock out! In the End – Linkin Park
Favorite Recipe: I made this honey sriracha chicken on Tuesday night and it turned out really well! Chris seemed to like it too.
Favorite Workout: It is about time to start getting ready for bikini season. While you wont see me sporting a bikini, I am aware that I wont be hiding behind sweaters for much longer. Check out this 30 day ab challenge! You even get rest days so there is no excuse.
Favorite Drink: Have you guys tried the new Butterscotch Frappuccino from Starbucks??? OMG!!! It is amazing and now my favorite drink from them. Ever.
Favorite Purchase:Late last year I scooped up this black necklace at Walmart for $5. It is one of the most complemented accessories I have.
So a few weeks ago when I was there, I checked out the accessories again and found this gem….for $5!!!!!
I hate Walmart. Despise it. But these cute accessories for $5??? I will allow my blood pressure to raise for an hour to go shop the accessories! They did have a few $5 necklaces on their website, I didn’t take the time to see if they had these exact ones or not. The black one comes in white, and the clear crystal comes in a darker gray color crystal stone as well. I think I might have to go back for those two before they are gone! The white one would be perfect for summer!!!
Favorite Lust: Have you been to Target lately?? Duh, of course you have! But have you been in their shoe department??? They have a DV line!!!!!! I am obsessed with my DV bootie wedges I got from Nordstrom Rack on Black Friday and now I want to grab some of their affordable pieces from Target!
Target was running a deal on them last weekend for $5 off a $25 DV purchase or $10 off $50. I bet it is still going on until at least Saturday. I might take my own advice and scoop some up! Spring is about here and I need some new shoes. I could get away with wearing all of these to my casual office!
–In honor of Fuller House, take this quiz to see which Full House character you are. I got Michelle Tanner because I am full of personality. You got it dude!
–I am so glad I grew up when I did. With social media taking over everything these days, it seems that teens have another thing to compete and fret over. This article on the secret world of teens and social media makes me weep for the new generations of kids.

What it is: A lip balm that doesn’t have any parabens or petrolatum. The key ingredients are mango-seed butter, shea butter, jojoba oil, rice-bran oil, and vitamin E.
My Thoughts: I really liked the consistency of this stuff. It is thick enough that it is nourishing and lasts awhile on the lips, but thin enough that it isn’t obtrusive. It is not greasy or sticky and it has a faint hint of oranges when you first apply it but it is barely there and the scent fades quick. I supposed that is the vitamin E that causes that scent. I really like putting this on in the mornings under my lip sticks and glosses. It made everything go on smoother. It certainly soothed my winter cracked lips too!
Repurchase: Yes. It is a little pricer for me for a lip product, but it works.
What it is: A hand cream with no parabens, phthalates or fragrance. Key ingredients are Coconut oil, sunflower oil, aloe, rice-bran extract, and vitamin E.
My thoughts:You guys, my hands are awful in the winter. They are constantly cracked and I am reminded of this when I go to wash them with anti-bac soap and want to die a thousand deaths because of the burn. This stuff is awesome because it was thick and really nourishing, but it wasn’t greasy and I could go back to what I was doing after just a few seconds. Because there is no scent, it doesn’t burn and you can use it in public situations (think your desk) without being obtrusive with scent.
Repurchase: Yes! At this price point, and the fact that it is easily found at Target….my hands are happy.
What it is: Notes of bigarade orange, passion fruit, passion flower, gardenia, cocoa beans and vetiver.
My thoughts: When I first put this on I was like hmmmm this reminds me of the way a really nice hotel smells on the inside. Weird, right? After about an hour I start to smell the citrus and flower scents. This isn’t overly strong, but it also doesn’t last all day for me either.
Also, the bottle is really cool and different, but I found it to be a pain in the ass to get the lid off. It literally took me a full minute to get it open the first time.
Repurchase: Probably not. The scent is pleasant, but it’s not my favorite.
What it is: An alcohol free breath spray with Xylitol.
My thoughts: I received the Grapefruit Mint flavor of this. While the packaging is totally cute and I would have fallen for it in the store….I have to be honest and say this is not the best breath spray that I have used. Perhaps because there is no alcohol, I just didn’t feel like it was very powerful. When I first spritzed it in my mouth I tasted the weird grapefruit mint flavor for about a 30 seconds and that was it.
What it is: A sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner with shea butter, evening-primrose oil and kakadu plum.
My thoughts:I really liked both products. This stuff has a sweet tart scent, sort of lemony but also not. That doesn’t really help but its what I got. I felt like my hair looked a little healthier and shinier after I used this. One thing I will note is that the conditioner is very thick, so you only need a very little amount. That just means the bottle would last a really long time, bonus!
Repurchase: Yes. I like to have two different shampoo and conditioners going at once so I would certainly rotate this in with something else for the hydrating properties this provides.
What it is: An overnight facial moisturizer with soybean extract, algae extract, glycerin, ceramides, and adenosine.
My thoughts: I actually had received this in my Lancome free gift with purchase last month, so I was excited to see more of it! When you first put this stuff on, it has a gel consistency, and then melts into an oil as your rub it on your skin. I really loved how smooth and glowy my face looks the next morning!! It has a little of a floral scent, but hasn’t irritated my super finiky, sensitive skin so that says something!
Tip – Careful around eyes. The oil spreads a little so if you get too close to your eyes, it makes them water just a little. User error on my part,
Repurchase:Yes. While the price tag is quite steep, a little of this goes a long way and I really do feel like I see a difference on days I use this. It is no secret that I am a Lancome fan so maybe I am a little biased towards this product.
Have you tried any of these products before? What have you loved lately?
–I am always amazed by how good my hair girl gets my hair to look at the salon after a cut….and how I can never make it look like that again. No matter how many YouTube videos I watch or times I try. #Isuckathair
–I sliced my finger open on a coffee creamer bottle. How does this even happen??? #childproof #itwasntthefirsttime
–I dread commutes with rain. Why is it that a little precipitation turns everyone in to an asshat? #learntodrive #roadrage
–Speaking of commutes, yesterday my blood pressure boiled to an all time high when I was sitting patiently waiting to get off the next exit on I-20 after it was shut down, and several cars flew by us on the shoulder. Who the fuck do these people thing they are that have more important things to do than the rest of us to pull that shit? My voice was hoarse all day from yelling at every last one of those fuckers. #getinline #youarenobody
–I had full intentions of painting my nails this weekend but I didn’t want to wait for them to dry so I skipped it. #lazy #boringnails
–I am obsessed with Fixer Upper. I haven’t really binged on HGTV shows since Chris and I moved in together. He’s not a fan. Netflix has Fixer Upper and House Hunters and every time I have a spare moment alone…I find myself turning that shit on. Did you know that there is a Magnolia Market shop online??? My mom sent me the link a long time ago and with my rediscovery for Fixer Upper came a new love for this store! #hgtvaddictforlife
–I am writing this post Tuesday morning and we have a severe weather threat here in Alabama tonight. They upgraded us from a slight risk to an enhanced risk. I assure you that this is not an upgrade to be happy about. So I started reading the Alabama Weather Blog and for tomorrow we are going to be dropping temps through the 40’s and there is a chance for snow flurries tomorrow night. For all this I say, get your shit together mother nature! Tornadoes and snow in a 24 hour period isn’t really my idea of a fun time! #twisterscaresme
