weekend shenanigans

Weekending

Some weekends don’t go quite as you plan. I had my sister lined up to watch Zoe on Saturday and an afternoon and evening of fun things planned for Chris for his birthday. Unfortunately around 10am Saturday morning Chris got an emergency call form work and spent literally all weekend working. I had to undo all of our plans, cancel the cookie cake and have all the sads that his special weekend was ruined by work things. Needless to say my first mother’s day was pretty craptastic too since my husband worked away the entire day. I did get in lots of Zoe time at least!!! Her and I have so much fun playing together!

Chris and Zoe got me an Apple Watch for mother’s day!!! I am loving it and realized how much I missed my fitbit for the reminder to move. I have the health activity alerts turned on so my wrist is reminding me to stand up more and get moving. I am finding myself running in place as I cook or brush my teeth again. There are three goals you are supposed to get every day, activity/calories burned, 30 minutes of working out and 12 stands in 12 hours. I want to see those circles full so this is going to be good for me! Also, having my texts come in on my wrist so I don’t have to carry my phone around has been fantastic!

Things that did happen this weekend? Zoe and I went grocery shopping Saturday evening and grabbed BBQ to go. I stopped and got a slice of cookie cake for Chris and I to have Sunday evening. I made BBQ nachos with the leftovers Sunday for lunch.

I had Zoe sitting next to me on the floor while I ate and we watched Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. She was less concerned with Mickey and more interested in my food. That look she was giving me….goodness! A few more weeks and we will be starting solids! Hang in there Z!!!

Sunday night I made lasagna for Chris since we didn’t get to go out to eat. He finally got to come upstairs and spend some time with us around 7pm. Hopefully we can recreate all his birthday fun another weekend! Poor guy!

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend!!! Despite cancelled plans, I am thankful for the time I got to spend with Zoe and some downtime around the house. I got lots of cleaning done and half the grass cut so that is something! Linking up with Biana.

So sorry your weekend didn’t go as planned! That happens to us a lot… I hate that work has to take over sometimes. I can’t wait for you to review the Apple Watch! I want one so bad I think. Does it count calories burned? I really hope you were able to enjoy your Mother’s Day! You deserve it!

That’s such a bummer that Chris got called into work on his birthday weekend! At least you got to spend lots of time with Zoe for Mother’s Day though! Those BBQ Nachos look so good, but let’s face it, I’m going to crave anything that includes the word nachos in it! Hopefully y’all will get to redo Chris’s birthday celebrations another weekend, but at least you were able to get stuff done around the house! I hope that you’re having a great Monday!

Aw, that stinks that he had to work and things didn’t go as planned, but still sounds like you had a good time with Zoe. And she totally knows that real food is better than that baby stuff haha. Hopefully next weekend you’ll get to have some fun with Chris! 🙂

I’m glad you and Zoe got to spend time together, but that stinks that he had to work. My Mother’s Day did not go exactly to plan either, I kinda want a do-over. Ellie has decided naps are for losers and also she only needs two a day now. We were at four and had a short time of three but suddenly she’s down to two. Haha Zoe wants that food! That face – she’s giving you the stink eye. Ellie loves our food but is not all that interested in purees. But she also doesn’t understand chewing so that makes things complicated.

aww I’m sorry that Chris had to work the weekend away but what a fabulous mother’s day gift! I hope you enjoy getting to know your apple watch – i’ve had mine for going on 3 years and I love it! xo, Biana –BlovedBoston

Sorry that your weekend did not go as planned, but at least you still had fun! My husband has gotten those emergency calls before. What does Chris, do if you don’t mind me asking? Zoe is so cute. And I am not someone who says that about anyone’s baby. I love her expressions. She is sort of raising her eyebrows in that second picture. I get the feeling that she will be a woman who does not take anybody’s crap!

Sorry your weekend didn’t go as planned…I hate when work ruins things! But Zoe is adorable!

Aww, such a bummer! I’m so glad you got some great quality time with Zoe, though! And hooray for the Apple watch being such a good reminder to move. Funnily enough, as I was typing this comment, my Fitbit just buzzed me to remind me to move, ha! I’ve been pretty active this pregnancy, but definitely less so than before being pregnant. I love seeing those fulfilled goals at the end of the day, but some days the whole growing-a-human-thing takes it’s physical toll. 😉 Aaaanyway, once Baby Girl is here I look forward to being super active again! 🙂 Oh, and finally, I LOVE BBQ nachos! Definitely a win! 🙂

That totally stinks he had to work!!!!! Hopefully, you can get some time together this week to make up for it. Oh that face! How did you say no? Also, those nachos! Yes please!

Oh what a bummer that he had to work unexpectedly!! 🙁 I’m glad that you still enjoyed time with your little girl, but that is dissapointing. I would be sad too. I hope you are able to “make up” for it a bit this week. Heheh how funny about that look she is giving you. I want real food too please!! XO – Alexandra

Oh no I know how those IT jobs go but seriously on Mother’s Day shit has to hit the fan?! I think all the snuggles with Zoe and the Apple watch made it much better but hopefully you can celebrate another time with no interruptions.

That’s such a bummer about Chris’ birthday weekend 🙁 I’m sorry everything got turned upside down! At least Zoe was around to keep you company (and gift you that Apple watch!).
    Those nachos look a.ma.zing.!!!

lol @ craptastic. sorry for the cancelled plans and the mother’s day stuff, but glad you were able to enjoy yourself anyway. love the sound of your apple watch, i do like my fitbit, but texts would be handy! i love that my fitbit vibrates when my phone rings, because my phone is always on silent and never next to me so i miss all my calls haha.

  • Reply Erin LFF May 16, 2017 at 8:45 pm

Poor Chris getting stuck with work stuff when you were supposed to be celebrating and having fun!!! 🙁 You could have sent a cookie cake my way FYI 😉 I love having my Fitbit but man, I wish I had more features like the stuff you mentioned lol!

I hate that work ruined it for you but you will have another time I am sure! Happy Mother’s Day late little Mama! What better way to spend it than with your sweet baby girl. And yum… Nachos:)

I’m sorry to hear your weekend plans had to change and your first Mother’s Day wasn’t what you were expecting. In the end, those precious snuggles with Zoe are the most important thing. My first two Mother’s Day I had these high hopes of what I thought the day would go like and when it didn’t I felt bummed out. Now I just go with the flow and I’m just happy if I don’t have to cook or do dishes and extra snuggles are always appreciated. Beautifully Candid
