about me

Thoughts for Tuesday

–Seeing all the Black Friday ads is bumming me out a little this year. Every year since I was 10 years old, my mom and I went out with the crazies for Black Friday shopping. It is one of my most favorite days of the year!!! This year I won’t be participating because hello, super hella pregnant over here! Ordering online just isn’t the same. It was more about spending the entire day with my mom.

–Speaking of sales, I opened my email this morning to see a Kate Spade Surprise sale!!! Man those 75% off deals are super tempting. I saw so many cute purses and jewelry in this one this morning.

–I am less than thrilled about the book I started reading last week and haven’t cared to even pick it up the last several days. I am not sure if it is the fact that the book just doesn’t thrill me, or if I am in a reading slump and need a break. I am not forcing it.

–Every time I feel off or my stomach starts cramping I think….is this it??? Talk about some anxiety!!! Someone was having a moving party at 2am this morning and kept me up for over an hour and a half. That would explain the scattered post today. I have my 39 week doctor appointment this morning so I will find out if I have had any progress since last week.

–I love love love that it is finally cold enough to turn the heat on at night. What I don’t love about having the heat on? Nose bleeds! Every damn day. Does this happen to anyone else? This has been my life for as long as I can remember.

–When is the last time you had a Thomas English Muffin? I forgot how amazing they are toasted with some butter!

–Do you have any Thanksgiving traditions? When I was little, we would always put our Christmas tree up Thanksgiving night while watching Eddie and the Cruisers. I have no clue how it came to be this movie, it is not a holiday movie and has nothing to do with Thanksgiving or Christmas. It is just what we did. My mom always bought a box of fancy assorted chocolates for the occasion. Then Friday morning we would get up early and go shopping.

Now as an adult, we spend our Thanksgiving split between Chris’s parents for lunch and usually my mom for dinner and then my mom and I head out around 9 or 10 pm to go shopping and return around 4 or 5 pm the next day. Except this year. This year we are just going to Chris’s parents house. My mom is skipping out on Thanksgiving since we are so close to my delivery date and my sister never comes over for her dinner anymore because they have other plans on Thanksgiving.

I leave you with this song from the movie that I absolutely love. The entire soundtrack is awesome and brings back so many memories!

And because I cant leave out this song either, I am sharing it as well. The guitar and sax in this one gives me chills. This video is directly from the movie.

So sad you can’t do your Black Friday tradition but you’ll have to do something more fun this year! 😉 oh that Kate Spade sale. So close to Christmas and I don’t need anything but I want a new bag! J asked me how much money I’d spent lately and I pretty much gave him the look of the girl in your first pic. Who knows? Haha! Hope your appointment goes well!

So last year was my first Black Friday experience with my BFF and her mom and I have to say I am bummed that I won’t be joining them this year. It was way more fun that I thought it would be. My Mom hates shopping and we are hitting the road on Friday so it will be cyber shopping for me too!

Hi sweets!! Thomas English Muffins are the best, I do butter, butter with cinnamon and sugar or pumpkin butter. Ohhhh Kate Spade, what a sale!! So get our Thanksgiving tradition; my mom throw the throws the rolls to us! Hilarious!! Hope you’re having a great day mama!

My mom wants to do Black Friday shopping and I hate it. Not shopping per se, just dealing with the crazies and the crowds- it’s SO not my scene, but I feel bad denying my mom the “girl time” experience. I’ve been eating English muffin sammies every day for like 2 weeks because they were on sale lol. So good! Hope your appointment goes well, and Happy Thanksgiving!

Oh! I really, really want to join the Women’s March, but it’s January 21st, which is cutting it awfully close to my due date and I don’t want to go into labor in the middle of a protest 2+ hours from home. 🙁 I’ve never been a fan of Black Friday, though. I went shopping with my mom this past weekend and we realized on our way to the mall that it’s getting close to the holidays and now neither one of us is likely to do any shopping in person until it’s all over. Lol! All the Internets for me. <3 Actually, I'm a little disappointed in myself that I'm not done my shopping. Last year I was done well before November, but this year I kept forgetting about it.

I totally agree about Black Friday…and English Muffins!! I miss both. However, now that we are in the midst of the 18-month sleep regression with our toddler…I’m like “Why would I ever get up at that hour for no reason?!”

I love your Thanksgiving tree tradition. Sorry you won’t be able to go out on Black Friday this year. I’ve never actually gone out in the morning on Black Friday.

I think being pregnant also causes nose bleeding, too. Which is a double bummer. I get nose bleeds but not as often as I used to…
The book I’m reading right now is about slavery which bums me out so much. I hate reading about slavery and the holocaust (b/c I hate that humans actually treated each other so poorly… though I know we still do… ugh). It’s got me getting through chapters super slowly. I’m trying to read different things, though, so I’m going to stick with it.
I’ve never even heard of that movie. Lol!

Ohhhh, English muffin with butter & strawberry jam – one of my favorite things that I don’t eat as much as I should. Totally delish!

I am glad to hear that you won’t be going out with all the crazies for Black Friday this year…however, if anything will put a gal in labor, that just might be it! Ha, ha!

kayla is nose bleed central! sometimes it’s so bad i almost want to rush her to the hospital 🙁

    1) shove vaseline in your nose twice a day (morning and night). just use a little but and seriously coat the inside of your nostrils.

    2) humidifier. kayla’s runs all night, errnight whenever the heat has been turned on.

    English muffins are a treasure.

Try a humidifier when the heat is on!

I’ve never been out on Black Friday, I just don’t think I could do it! Too much crazy for me. Our tree at my parents house is already up though and John and I put ours up tomorrow 🙂 So far, I’ve kept all my traditions with my parents. John’s parents are about 6 blocks from us, my parents just over 3 miles. So we just split up, each do our own things with our own families. It’s working out fine, we don’t mind splitting up because we come home together each night. I’m still too attached to my parents to give anything up!

We have the same traditions, eat and then shop all night long. I love our Black Friday tradition. It was always so exciting, but I understand why you’re sitting this one out 🙂 You’re so close, ahh! I would be freaking out too, like wait, is this it?? Yesterday at work, the nurse who’s 9 months pregnant had her water break halfway through her shift. She called her husband to come pick her up and off to the hospital they went. They’re welcoming a little boy into the world. So exciting!

Friday was always the day that we’d break out all the Christmas decorations from the attic, and even though we’ll be out of town on Friday, you’d better believe that we’re breaking out our decorations as soon as we’re home on Sunday! That’s a bummer that you won’t get to go Black Friday shopping this year! I hate all the crowds and prefer online shopping, but I totally understand the wanting to spend time with your mom!

Eddie & the cruisers…. flash back city!!!!
I waa on an english muffin kick for awhile ……… butter and honey!!!!
Maybe you & your mom can still do something on friday. I feel you. Ricky & i always shop & he has to work. The first time in 20 years on black friday. Hes so depressed about it

  • Reply Erin LFF November 22, 2016 at 9:50 pm

I used to do Black Friday shopping like crazy, but each year I enjoyed it a little less. I am all about the online shopping now 😉 Hehe I think that means I’m getting old… the Black Friday crowds and chaos just stress me out these days. I hope your dr appointment went well!!

Eek, hope you’re feeling good! I know what you mean about the heat. My apartment gets SUPER cold (it is NOT ventilated) so my favorite thing to do is curl up on the couch with a blanket & my space heater on. I can’t sleep like that, but it gets my all warm and cozy before bed. Hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

  • Reply texerinsydney November 24, 2016 at 12:48 am

My mom and I used to have a full day of Christmas shopping together every year, not Black Friday, but I still get what you mean about missing that day for just you and your mom. Now I want to watch Eddie and the Cruisers.

I was a nosebleed kid and I will echo what Kathy said, HUMIDIFIER! Run that sucker in your room all the time. This will also help reduce static electricity (so you don’t shock the ever living shit out of yourself when you touch those light sockets/etc). It doesn’t hurt to have one in the living spaces as well. Actually, I used a room stone for the living spaces so that way it wasn’t running all the time. It definitely helped.

Ain’t nobody got time for nosebleeds!

  • Reply laura November 29, 2016 at 12:56 pm

Ugh, I had a ton of nose bleeds when I was preggers — it was annoying AF. Also, sorry you didn’t get to do the normal Black Friday stuff with your mom – I know how much you always look forward to it. And hecks yes to English muffins — I’ve been getting up a little earlier every morning to make egg sandwiches for me and B. So good.

  • Reply kristen December 6, 2016 at 2:32 pm

oh no nose bleeds! i didn’t grow up with heat – that sounds weird, but we didn’t have central air, so no AC or heat, but i had fans and heaters – but my nose bleeds all the time anyway, so i feel you.
