Things I Am Not Good At

I think that one of the most important things you can do for yourself is realize your flaws. You should always work at bettering yourself, but there are just simply some things others exceed at that you can’t quite figure out. That’s totally ok, because there are things that you are the best at!

Hair – I can’t do my hair. I have super fine hair that gets stringy when it is too long, but looks ridiculous too short too. I have watched about a million YouTube videos on curling and other various styles to try, and have had my stylist show me EXACTLY how she gets me to look amazing at my appointments. I have purchased all the right products and yet….I just cant. I look a damn mess if I do anything. Don’t even get me started on kid’s hair when Zoe’s starts growing out. Please send help.

Confrontation – I am the WORST at confrontation. I hate it. I will stew and hold shit in forever. I will agree with people even though I know I am right. (Unless it is important or makes an impact, then I force myself to say something.) I have never been able to ask for a raise. When I have given notice at previous jobs, I would make myself physically ill because I hate disappointing or upsetting people. Even if said job was horrible and the person I was giving the notice to a monster.

Hiding Facial Expressions – I have the worst poker face ever! Even if I hate confrontation, you can probably tell from the look on my face that I think you are an idiot and I am just agreeing to shut you up.

Crafting/DIY – I want to be creative. I pin the shit out of DIY projects and crafts on Pinterest. I can spend hours walking through Michael’s and Hobby Lobby. I even have some crafting supplies at home. For whatever reason, even following instructions closely, 9 out of 10 projects I attempt end up in the trash. I am hoping craft weekends with Laura will force me to get better at this. Our trays turned out great! That is a good sign, right?

Gardening – I do not have a green thumb. Not even a little. I basically trashed the whole tomato/pepper garden I had growing two years ago. I try to blame it on the fact that I was pregnant and lazy so I didn’t give it proper care. But let’s be honest, I have never been able to keep a plant alive. Good thing they don’t ask you to care for a plant before you have a dog or kid.

Planners – I have tried and tried to keep a physical planner up to date. I always start out strong for about two to four weeks and then abandon it for the rest of the  year. It is a miracle I make it to any appointments or remember any link ups.

Alright, I think that is enough of my secrets. What is something you just aren’t good at?

All of the above…except for planners…sort of. My planner is never cute, & if I try to get more than 1 going all but the original will fail. I sure can rock that original planner though lol.

I’m the sane with facial expressions.
I’m bad at keeping my house clean, its embarrassing. I’d rather use my time for other things haha

haha shocker, but all of these are mine too. I can kill cactus – and have multiple times . And hair, ugh. I sure wish someone would just come and do it for me.

Omg are we the same person? Because with the exception of the planner (I love me a planner), I had terrible at all of the same things!!!!

Confrontation and gardening are not my strong suits either. I am obsessed with my Erin Condren planner and can’t live without it.

I’ve killed a cactus, man. That’s how bad I aim at keeping plants alive! But plants don’t bark or scream when they need something! And half the time I don’t even know what my face is doing, but people can always read it! I’m good with my planner though. I don’t decorate it or any of that; it’s purely functional. I think if I kept a digital calendar as well I’d forget about the paper one entirely, but physically writing things down helps me remember.

I am the same with facial expressions- I can’t hide a THING! And even though I work at a salon and have been given SO many tips- I’m awful at my hair. I pray for Bella now hahahah

I get anxious just thinking about confrontation. Ugh. I am not a good ironer either so I toss it in the dryer with something wet before I would think about ironing!

We are SO much alike (big surprise). My hair is awful and I just wasn’t blessed with the ability to do anything about it. It’s so long right now but I don’t know what else to do with it? I can sometimes be too confrontational… but other times I let shit go and am passive aggressive instead. Also, yeah, can’t hide facial expressions to save my life! I try with the planner thing, too, but a few months in and it’s just another thing I don’t have time for!

Flossing — I never do it. Carrying cash — NEVER. Washing my bras — WOOPS! Oh, and math.

Haha I’m the worst with physical planners too! Everything just automatically goes on my phone on a shared calendar for Chris and I so I never write it down in a physical planner. I’m sure that eventually when the girls start actually being involved in things I’ll need to write stuff down though.

I can’t do hair either. Once a year or so I get a wild hair and decide to try…and waste 2 hours of my life. It’s just not mah thing.

I completely agree! Acknowledging your flaws is so important. I am so bad with my facial expressions that sometimes I wish I could see what I look like. I wish I had more time to be crafty and attempt diys.

So many of these are true for me too! Especially hair, crafting/DIY, & gardening. I do love my paper planner though! For a long time I’d be upset by all the things I wasn’t good at but now I embrace it. Well, mostly – I would like to have a prettier yard…

I am the same way with my hair. People tell me it looks good, but I don’t feel like it does that often. My husband is the green thumb in our house too.

  • Reply Carly February 9, 2018 at 7:29 am

Isn’t it crazy that no matter how hard you try your hair can never look the same as when you leave the hair salon?? And I’m the same way with using paper planners– I keep saying I’m going to try a bullet journal this year, but haven’t done it yet!

  • Reply Amy February 9, 2018 at 9:01 am

I also suck at yard and garden type things. I hate it with a passion too, the feeling of dirt on me, sweating, bugs, loud equipment… it’s all awful. I am a planner genius though, I could not live without mine!!!

  • Reply Heather February 9, 2018 at 9:51 am

Girl, holding up my hands to so many of these. I still try though and think I can. I’m switching up my planner game, not because I don’t use it…I do, but because I also have lists on lists everywhere and hope the Bullet Journal helps me keep them in one place.

My hair is the same way! I hate it! Fine hair sucks! :p I also do not have a green thumb, I’ve killed aloe plants & cactus. I am not even kidding. :\

I love my planner and I’m getting better at hair, but I’m terrible at gardening. I want to change that, though!
I don’t do confrontation well with some people. The rude ones who don’t listen to your side and roll their eyes every time you speak and have no respect for your opinion are just not worth it. I HATED quitting jobs (had to do it twice in a full-time situation) and I can’t ask for raises. I mean, I work for K now so I wouldn’t have an issue, but with other bosses I couldn’t.

I’m weird about confrontation. I act all big and bad, but the minute someone calls me out on something, I instantly deflate and try to avoid the confrontation. I’ve always been like this.

I am too weird, its my flaw
