All Things Halloween

I wanted to link up with Melissa a few days this month for her blogging challenge, because she is awesome. Duh. Today’s prompt is “must watch Halloween cartoons.” In my opinion, there is only one must watch for me, and that is The Great Pumpkin.

Can you really call that a post? No! So let me go a few steps further with some more Halloween favorites!

My favorite must watch Halloween themed movie is Hocus Pocus.

My favorite childhood Halloween memory – When I was in elementary school, my parents would take my sister and I out trick or treating. We would start in our neighborhood, then head over to my Grandma Jerry’s neighborhood and finish by stopping at Grandma Josie’s house so that she could see our costumes too. Tracy and I always scored a ton of candy by going to so many houses. Since we lived right outside Pittsburgh, sometimes it would actually be snowing when we were out! Crazy, right? We would just wear sweat pants under our costumes so we weren’t cold.

There used to be this house in the very first neighborhood we lived in that terrified the crap out of me. It was next door to my great aunt’s house and the guy would dress up like an ape and jump out of his house as you were approaching his porch. I remember begging my parents to skip it every single year. Every year they told me not to be rude and that I had to go.

Tell me you wouldn’t be creeped out by a huge ape when you are five!

My favorite adult Halloween memory is probably the year that I dressed up like a witch and Chris dressed up like ….well a mix between a Star Trek character and Kanye.

Chris dj’d at our friend’s annual Halloween party, as he does every year. We just had a lot of fun and the party had a great turn out! These are just some of the people that were there to help set up when the party first started:

This party was just a few weeks before we got married. Maybe that is why is sticks out the most to me?!

My favorite Halloween candy is the mallow cream pumpkins.

What are some of your Halloween favorites?

Making Melissa

Love the Great Pumpkin, we watch it every year! Oh my goodness, those mallow cream pumpkins are addicting, I have been trying to avoid buying a bag at the store because if I have a bag just sitting there at the house it will be bad news!

I’ve been trying to deny the existence of those pumpkins and candy corns but I think you’ve convinced me to fill up my decorative Halloween trays and indulge!

Great big GIANT yes to Great Pumpkin and Hocus Pocus! I cut cable this year and am missing the marathons of Halloween movies on TV so I’m gonna have to grab the DVDs or something. It’s just not Halloween without these two and Practical Magic!

Hocus Pokus and the Great Pumpkin! I love all the animated movies too so Hotel Transylvania made it on my list too. And pumpkin Reese’s. Actually, we are doing this candy exchange at work and I tried a Take 5 for the first time ever and it was pretty delish.

Is it weird that hocus pocus actually scares me?! I love chris’s outfit – very treki meets hip hop!

I am the only person alive who thinks Charlie Brown is a douche. LOL

Oh man, I can’t even imagine jogging pants under you costume! Most of the time when we were trick or treating when I was little, we picked our costume depending on the weather. Which meant most of the time, I wore the previous year’s dance recital costume because it was lightweight and skimpy. =)

I was almost always a witch every year so I could wear a black turtle neck and sweat pants under my costume. I always loved trick or treating up North because whenever we got home my aunt and grandma would have soups and hot cider waiting.

I love The Great Pumpkin! Well, I pretty much love all the Peanuts cartoons. 🙂 And as I already mentioned before, Hocus Pocus is one of my all time favorite Halloween movies, alongside Beetlejuice. I can’t even imagine it snowing while Trick or Treating. It’s usually still fairly warm here in Texas or just a bit chilly.

You have the cutest smile Nadine. I don’t think witches are supposed to be that beautiful 😉 I love the candy cupcakes too. I used to bake them INSIDE of cupcakes and it was delicious.

I’ve never seen Hocus Pocus, but now I’m intrigued. Also, mixing Kanye West and Star Trek is hilarious! Did he wander around telling everyone how awesome he was? Because that’s the only way to be Kanya. (If you haven’t seen it, check out the Kanye-fidence Booster. It is hilarious!)
