Setting Fall Goals

I shit the bed hard on my goals this summer. I kind of new that was going to happen! I usually keep it simple this summer and I was trying to be an over achiever.

Summer Goals

Body

1. Continue current exercise schedule of running 2-3 days per week and strength training 3-4 days – Done and done!

2.Be able to go up in weights by August – I am ready to go up in weights, just haven’t purchased them yet!

3.Get fitted for new running shoes – I plan to do this soon. I got a fitbit instead which I had planned to do for my fall goal, so I am calling this a win because I sort of switched goals.

Mind

1. Complete the summer reading challenge – Yay! I swapped a few books on it but I got it done! I have already reviewed all the books in Show Us Your Book link ups, so I didn’t feel the need to link up with the list this week.

2. Read each of the monthly Literary Ladies book club books– I read the first one, Saint anything, but I didn’t care to read the second book by Judy Blume so I guess this is a fail. Life is too short to read a book you don’t care about!

3. Watch a documentary-fail

Home

1. Continue to gather stuff for the gallery wall – I haven’t purchased anything new but I did find an anchor I liked and plan to order soon. We ended up purchasing a shelf for the living room and decorating it instead.

2. Find a storage solution for the hand held game cartridges -fail

3. Get some plants going – fail

Food

1. Try three new recipes – grain free apple muffins, Thai peanut spaghetti squash, Cajun shrimp, Korean chicken, Bourbon Maple Kielbasa, Browned Butter Sage Sweet Potato Gnocchi

2. Eat at three new restaurants –  Humphrey’s, BJ’s Brewhouse, Five Points Public Oyster House

3.Continue on grain free/process free plan – I did great until my beach vacation. I shit the bed for a few weeks and hopped back on a 80/20 version.

Fall Goals

Body

1. Get new weights

2.Get fitted for running shoes

3.Make eye doctor appointment

Mind

1. Watch a documentary

2.Read the rest of the books on my Netgalley shelf

3.Take a class, webinar or attend an event that will stimulate my mind

Home

1.Collect a few new fall decor items and decorate the house for fall

2.Collect items for the gallery wall

3.Get indoor plants

Food

1. Try three new recipes

2. Eat at three new (to me) restaurants

3. Bake a pie from scratch

I am super excited to have a girls night tonight!!! I have been looking forward to it all week. And a long week it has been, right? What are your goals for this fall?

I might have to beg, borrow and steal this because it’s awesome. You totally rocked the trying new recipes this Summer and look at you doing so good at your health goals!! Those reading challenges though, they get me every time. I’m trying to finish the Literary Ladies one so I can actually say I did it. #slacker

Have fun with your girls night!! Personally, I think you did an awesome job on your summer goals 🙂 I really like how you’ve broken them into different categories…I’m going to steal that format for my fall goals list to make sure I’m being mindful about making goals in all areas of life!

Bake a pie! I want to make apple pie. My roommate has an amazing recipe that he used over the summer and I’m going to attempt to duplicate it. You didn’t do so bad – half and half! And you did all your health ones, which shows you where your mind has been. Maybe you’re just more into that right now. 😀 “Shit the bed” – that’s quite the expression!

I love how you highlighted the ones you met in green and fails in red! Love me an organized gal!! Come up and we’ll bake pies together. I used to do it all the time because I taught a cooking class on pie baking. But sadly pies are the last thing I bake now!! I love your list and will look forward to seeing how you do!!

    Yayyy for girls night out!

My fall goals are not to cry because summer left and to wear my bra less because I’ll have on big baggy sweatshirts. Yayyy for goals!

Love your goals! You got it this fall! My fall goals are to try and do Whole 30, keep my apartment clean, and finish my half marathon feeling good.

Hey, life doesn’t end when you don’t make or break goals – you just set them again & keep truckin’ along 🙂

  • Reply Katie September 24, 2015 at 10:14 am

I like how you break down your goals into body, mind, home, and food. That’s awesome that you have moved up in weights. How are you liking the fitbit? And yes, life is too shot to read a book you don’t care about, this is why I don’t do book clubs anymore.

Woo-hoo for getting new weights!! What a nice refresh to your routine! Keep up the great work 🙂

At least you got your body goals all done! Those always seem to be the hardest for me to keep hahaha. Lazy girl probs. And girl who likes to eat tons of junk food probs.

I just need to say that when your first sentence pulls up in my Bloglovin feed and it includes the phrase “shit the bed” I know it’s why I continue to love you and this space of yours. High-five for the day.

I need to set and eye appointment but keep forgetting! Way to go with the goals you did achieve though! I’ve been thinking about learning how to bake things from scratch, but I’m also kind of lazy so I’m not sure it’ll happen anytime soon! Lol.
I hope you have a great girls night!!

My goals kinda went to shit too. I need to get my butt in gear on figuring out what I want to focus on the next few months!

  • Reply Emily @ Martinis & Bikinis September 24, 2015 at 9:10 pm

You did pretty good with your summer goals! Sometimes the weeks go by quicker than we think and can’t fit everything in. Good luck with your Fall goals! It’s always good to aim for the best!

I agree that life is too short for books you don’t like. I put down the Judy Blume and didn’t pick it back up, which broke my heart because she’s one of my heroes, but it had to be done!

  • Reply kristen September 25, 2015 at 1:24 pm

you kicked ass on the body goals girl! i am struggling so hard with exercise and shit right now. especially because i am currently eating a blizzard. also, i think you totally passed #2 because you read one book and really life is too short for bad books (sorry Judy) and in my opinion #2 should have said ‘read each month of the books i actually want to read’ lol. i love how you split your goals up. good luck for fall! you got this! DUDE, MAKE A FREAKING EYE DOCTOR APPOINTMENT. I feel like I say that every time 😉

  • Reply Michael September 26, 2015 at 7:21 am

I wanted to read the book club books too but haven’t been interested in that last two picks. Also, by the time I hear about what the new book is I don’t have time to get it from the library, especially if it’s super new. My NetGalley shelf is lagging too. What pie are you planning to make?!

  • Reply Joey September 26, 2015 at 8:30 am

I’m so glad to see that you want to attend a class or a webinar. I have been ALL ABOUT THE LEARNING the last few months. It could be because of the business launch, but holy bananas–I’m just devouring any bit of education I can.

  • Reply Amanda September 26, 2015 at 9:08 am

I like that you’re keeping up with the 3 new recipes goal! Broaden those horizons, baby!
    Hope girls night was fun!!!

  • Reply Wendy@BlushandBarbells September 26, 2015 at 10:25 pm

Hmm, I haven’t really thought about fall goals. I’d like to run more, so I should find a race and sign up for it.
    Have a great girls’ night!
