How to Get out of The Funk

Is it just me, or is there a serious case of the funk going around? I don’t know what has gotten me in to this funk, but I let it simmer for a few days and now it needs to go! There are several things that always put me in a better mood, and these are the steps that I take to get out of the funk.

1. Snuggle a Puggle (or any dog) – My dogs instantly make me feel better no matter what happened in my day. They are always excited to see me, they give lots of kisses and their snuggles are the best snuggles.

2. Quotes that inspire – It might sound cheesy, but sometimes you just need some wise words to set your mind straight.

I find it pointless to argue and get upset with people that walk around angry with the world or people that seem like they always have a problem with me, because I see it like this; everyday I move into something new in my life while your stuck sitting in what ever funk your in . . .

"I am in charge of how I feel and today I am choosing happiness."

Need a pick-me-up? Here are 22 of the best Pinterest quotes to get you feeling inspired.

My only regret... Not quite my ONLY regret, but clearly one near the top of my list.

3. Treat Yo’Self – A little pampering just for you can often do a trick. Take a bubble bath, paint your nails, try a new face mask.

4. Exercise – Sometimes a good walk/run to clear your mind or kick boxing to literally beat your stress’s ass! You know..endorphins and shit…they make you happy.

5. Get lost in a book – Nothing like letting your mind wander through a fictional universe in a great story!

6. Watch you favorite TV show – Especially if it is a funny one, you could use a little funny!

7. Retail Therapy – Shopping always makes me feel better. Always.

8. Clean – Taking it out on the kitchen counters, the closet, the living floors, that bathtub…sometimes it helps!

9. Channel those feelings – Take your negative thoughts and feelings and channel them in to something productive. Crafts, start a new project, tackle something you have been meaning to get done, re-work your web design, etc.

10. Write down the positive – Sure, you could sit there and focus on the things that aren’t your jam right now….but you know you have a lot of good things going for you! Write them down and cultivate positive thoughts.

What do you do when you are in a funk?

I’ve been in a total funk as well!!! The pups always help. I think a lot of mine is the weather here lately, combined with the move and all that entails. It makes me excited to be further south, where the sun shines every day. And I can go to Universal and drink a few margaritas at Margaritaville, then go run around the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. 🙂 I may have to rename the blog “Drunk in Harry Potter Land!”

I’m not in a funk, and when I am it typically doesn’t last a full day. I am good at getting myself out of them!

Perfect timing. I’m in such a work funk lately, and so far I’m doing pretty good to keep it from spilling over into my “real life,” but it’s still frustrating the 40 hours a week I’m at the office. Thanks for the reminders—love some of those quotes!

I know exactly what you mean. I’ve been in a funk lately, and it’s been hard to shake it off at time. For me, I usually hang out with Whitney and the kitties to help take away the funk. Listening to music and drink a great beer can help me out as well.

So many good suggestions! I had a TERRIBLE week last week and there were lots of puppy snuggles. And exercise, not because I have to but because it’s seriously what keeps me sane and helps me get my mind straight.
