Hey there Friday! I am not sure if it was because I was on vacation last week or what the deal is….but I am not believing we are already mid month!!! Forth of July was just last week, no? Goodness. I am not sure what all we have planned for this weekend. I do know that tomorrow we will be heading over to Laura’s to celebrate that sweet sweet baby boy of hers!!! Who isn’t really a baby anymore since he is going to be three. Shut up! Zoe is so excited to see her boo. It has been awhile since we have gotten those two together. I know my sister wants to try to see Zoe at some point. She doesn’t like going too long in between visits. Which is great for us, because we love her too and her crew too <3
–I am working on the most honest and real post I have ever written for Lindsay’s new series. I have so much to say and I keep thinking about things while I am driving in my car. I just don’t know how I want to start it. You can go read about her new series here.
–I shopped the Nordstrom sale yesterday, and got pissed off when all you bitches broke the site. The one thing I really wanted sold out before I could check out. SO RUDE!!!! I had about ten things in my cart and got it down to two. I call that winning! I decided on the purple Caslon Peplum top.
And a pink Caslon knit blazer.
I wanted to get pieces that I can wear now. It is too hard for me to shop for fall/winter clothing when it is going to be 80-100 degree here until November. Fingers crossed I ordered the right sizes and that it actually went through correctly. I had to sign in about five times and hit purchase a few extra to get the confirmation order number. Then the confirmation email didn’t even come until 10 hours later. So, my hope isn’t all that high lol. What did you order?? I still really want to get the Sara Happ Lip Expert set that they had, but forced myself to put it on my wish list instead. I want the lip slip, but I suppose I can continue to use my own homemade coconut lip scrub. Sigh. Me and my cheap self.
–I got to see some old co-workers yesterday at lunch, and that is always nice. I like seeing them so happy in the decisions that they have made.
–I need to cut Zoe cold turkey from her paci I think. Anyone have any advice?? She LOVES that thing and it brings her so much comfort. We try to limit her to the car and bedtime, but she sneaks it every now and again other places. Her doctor wanted it gone already, and her teachers were shocked to hear that she still uses it when I didn’t realize she had it with her this morning at drop off. I feel like most of my friends that have older kids let them have it until they were 2 before cutting them off. Zoe is only 19 months. Any advice is greatly appreciated! I know it is going to be rough. Plus I am sad to see one of her last “baby traits” go away. You know?

Cold turkey best way to go. Or do what a friend did and cut a little piece out and she won’t want it anymore. Happy Friday…hope lots of chillaxing happens this weekend!
I can’t wait to read your post! I’m so glad that you agreed to do one. I got the Caslon blazer, too. They were sold out in my size in the color I wanted, so I got petite. It will probably be going back. LOL. Hope you guys have a great weekend!
It always freaks me out when they bring fall & winter clothes out when I’m still sweating walking into the store.

Good luck with the paci! Babycakes actually transitioned off of it pretty easily, we just hid them all and after about 3 days she stopped asking for it. It was great for 3-4 months…and the she started sucking her thumb. Not all the time, but when she is tired or cranky. So…idk what to do on that one. She will asks for paci’s if she sees other kids with them occasionally, but for us it’s an “out of sight out of mind” thing. Don’t worry too much if it takes some trial & error to figure out what works for you guys!
You know what I think about the paci thing. Remember we tried it and homeskills broke out in hives, but the next time we tried, nothing. I think it’ll be pretty clear when she’s ready – I wouldn’t stress about it. I’m really excited to read your post – it’s going to be awesome.
So I ordered three things yesterday and one was already cancelled, but I never received the confirmation email. I ordered another shirt today and it came within seconds. But online my stuff said being processed. Who knows. I didn’t even see that Dolman. So cute. Love the blazer you have. I have it in black and I love it.
That’s so crazy about stuff selling out that fast. I’m not a cardholder so I’m used to basically anything I want already being gone, lol. I looove the pink blazer you got and the peplum top is so cute too! I have no advice about the paci thing, but will be interested to hear what works for Zoe. I’m already dreading that time, lol. I’m excited for Lindsay’s series and am excited to read your post.
1) you do what’s best for your child, damn the judgement….because no matter what you do, you’re doing it wrong if you dont do like them. so fuck them.
2) i know kids who had their paci until 3, with no adverse reactions, no dental issues etc. i’ll be honest, parents/adults make a bigger deal about it than it actually is…in the grand scheme of things, is having a paci at 19 months really a big deal? i dont think so. it’s not like she’s 6 and still has it. i always want to tell those who judge others (ie. delayed potty training, paci use etc) – look at the bigger picture folks. let kids be kids. we often rush them too fast to ‘grow up’ so let zoe have her paci if it brings her comfort. if you want, you can limit her use by not making it accessible and only give it to her for naps/night sleep etc.
at 19 months, it’s unlikely zoe will understand why she can’t have it; she’ll just know that she can’t. some kids are easy going so you can try swapping with a new stuffy and give that to her when it’s time to sleep instead of the paci ie. only give when she usually reaches for the paci so that she starts to make that association. some kids will accept this, some wont and are more stubborn but she wont be able to rationalize until she’s about 2-2.5yrs old.
Great purchases!! I haven’t’ shopped the anniversary sale but I got myself a homecoming dress the other day! And I also got a pair of shoes to go with it! Now it’s feeling real!
It’s so insane that it’s already mid-July! Just crazy!! I love the items you got from the Nordstorm sale. Really cute, and the colors are fun. My youngest niece turned 2 last month and she still uses her paci, and I know they want to wean her off it, but I don’t think she’s THAT old so I wouldn’t worry about Zoe being too old…but yeah, I wish I had good tips for how to get her to NOT want it. haha

Our dentist recommended two on the paci so that was my goal however I think he was getting his two year molars at that time so I wasn’t fighting it!! I think a month or so after that I just starting making it available to him less and eventually made sure none were in sight and he was totally fine without it 🙂 I thought it was the cutest thing ever when he had it now looking back at pictures I think it look strange..haha You have to do what is best for you.
