Friday Favorites

Favorite Song: Chris and his friend are obsessed with this Australian DJ chick, Alison Wonderland. I have to admit, her music is pretty damn cool. She is coming to Opera in Atlanta next month and I know that they will be going. I am on the fence on whether I want to go with them. Clubs are so not my scene. Also, I am like 10 years too old to be at a place like Opera. Either way….take a listen to Run, you might find a new favorite. And if you search Youtube for her, you will find all kinds of gems. Don’t be surprised to see her again on a Friday post in the future!

Favorite Moments:

–Getting my car back on Wednesday!

–Trying several new recipes and loving every single one of them!

–Realizing that a pair of jeans I bought this summer that were a little snug are super loose on me today!

–Talking to my sister on the phone for a little while Tuesday morning before work.

–Just hanging out with Chris, listening to music Thursday night and chatting.

Favorite Recipe: Laura sent me this recipe for Tandoori Chicken after she made it this week. She said it was awsome, I cant wait to try it next week for dinner!

Pulled Tandoori Chicken:

Favorite Workout: This workout is awesome! You know you have 30 minutes, so just do it! NO EXCUSE!

The Workout You Need For 2016: Full-Body Burner:

Favorite Lust: I need to get a new moisturizer soon, as my Pond’s one is nearly finished. I was looking at Belif, I have seen several people talk about it. What are your thoughts? I want something that is going to be moisturizing without overkill for my combo skin, and anti-aging. What’s your favorite?

Favorite Dog Sightings: It was freezing cold here on Monday. We are talking teens in the morning and the highs never made it out of the 30’s. I put a lightening bolt sweater on Mac and Gracie sported her old pink jacket from many seasons ago. Does a pink parka ever go out of style? I think not!

Gracie was so bored with her photo shoot…look at her yawning!

Then she humors me for one second before giving me the “seriously mom, just stop” look. She spent 10 years perfecting that face.

It is rare to get a picture of Mac. That dog cant stay still for a second!

Linking up with Amanda! We are trying to decide if it is going to be snowpocalypse 2016 or a bust today here in Alabama. Of course I will be Instagramming the shit out of some snow if it does come. You know me and my northern heart 🙂 I hope you guys have a fabulous weekend!

get a tester (if you can?) and try before you buy. my moisturizer is very light but i use 2 things before that – hydrating serum and argan oil. the moisturizer is just to seal all that goodness in and protect from the elements.

I hope you guys get some snow, otherwise the cold weather isn’t even worth it! And your pup is so cute, and it looks like she loves her jacket! Hooray for trying new recipes, and double hooray when they turn out amazing! That tandoori chicken looks awesome! Hope you have a great weekend!

Hahaha, love the little doggie outfits!!! So cute! Gracie’s baby face!!!!!! AWWWWWWWW!!! You’ll love that Tandoori chicken — I had it for leftovers a couple days and it was still delicious!!!! I’ll admit — I bought some adorable baby items from the Oh, Joy! last night — because OMG, so cute.

We’re supposed to get a lot of snow and it hasn’t started yet! We’ll see what happens! I’m glad you got your car back! And I’m going to try that workout today! Looks great! Hope you get some snow!

I personally loved the belief cream but I’d get a sample first from Sephora to see if you like it since it’s pricey!! yay for fitting into those pants – that’s the best feeling! Happy Friday! xo, Biana –BlovedBoston

i’d say go for a gel based cream for your combo skin. anti-aging is merely fancy language for sunscreen or titanium dioxide in your product. have you been to opera before? i loved it and i’m ollddddd

  • Reply Jessica @ Pleas(e) & Carrots January 22, 2016 at 9:38 am

Yay for loose pants and getting your car back!! I can’t wait for some good old-fashioned snow!

  • Reply Erin LFF January 22, 2016 at 9:41 am

Woohoo for jeans that are loose now!! I’m having the opposite situation these days 😉 That Trump/Corn meme made me seriously LOL, def sharing that later!!

  • Reply Cara January 22, 2016 at 9:46 am

Yay for the jean victory! It’s always so exciting when a previously snug pair is loose! Keep up the awesome work and have a great weekend!

  • Reply Joy January 22, 2016 at 9:46 am

If it does snow, it will be the first time for the girls to see it. So that’s exciting me. But, like last year, it will probably be a bust. Since y’all are north of us, you’ll probably have a better chance. And I’ll be the instagram liking fool all over your pics! Ha! My favorite moisturizer is dermalogica smoothing cream. I get it at Ulta, and it’s been my go to since 2012!

That chicken looks so good! I love those flavors. Ugh, Donald Trump reminds me of a husk of corn in more ways that one.

Those precious Pups, I just want to kiss them! So glad you got your car back too! Ok, so you know I use the Belif products, I tried the aqua bomb and the moisturizing balm. The aqua bomb is more like a gel and not quite as moisturizing so I think if you’re looking for that go with the moisturizing balm, it’s the one I ended up buying a full-size in! Yummy yummy chicken and how I just love listening to music and hanging with the hubs! I hope you get to do more of the same this weekend and it’s wonderful!

If you’re looking for a new moisturizer, Sephora has an AWESOME favorites collection that released last week, and it actually includes a sample of the Belif moisturizer as well as several others. Here’s the link: http://www.sephora.com/quench-your-skin-P404349?skuId=1771013

I got it the first day it was out so that I could try a few different products for review, and I’ve only gotten to try a few of the things included so far, but I’m really liking everything so far. Some of my other favorites are (in no particular order):

ACURE Day Cream (which I recently got in a Target box and reviewed)
Oil of Olay Total effects lightweight moisturizer
    Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion
Clinique Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief
Dr. Carver’s Maagnanimous Post Shave Cream

Yes, that last one is from a men’s line (through Dollar Shave Club), but believe it or not it’s still an amazing moisturizer for women, too. I’ve been known to borrow my husband’s on more than one occasion. DSC has another moisturizer that they just released that has a SPF, and he’s going to get that in his next shipment, so I’ll try that one very soon as well.

Now… Keep in mind that these are all my favorite DAY moisturizers. For night, I prefer something a little thicker. But I do have some PITA combo skin that gets oily at times and dry as a desert in some patches. I get that the struggle is real. Basically what you’re looking for during the day is something that’s going to be nice and lightweight (read: not greasy) but still packs a good moisture punch. You can alternatively dab a little extra moisturizing balm onto any patches that might get dry during the day.

I’ve also really started loving Tarte’s Amazonian Clay foundation and their 12-hour BB Cream (which I’m actually reviewing now to go up on Tuesday). Those seem to really adapt to any oily spots while not getting dry on dry spots, which I love, and they look like skin on me. Definitely grab a sample at Sephora and give it a try.

Oh man I LOVE that feeling when something was too tight and suddenly feels loose! Woohoo Whole 30!!
I hadn’t seen that Oh Joy collection BUT OH MY GOSH THOSE BRASS PARTY ANIMALS! I desperately need both of those.
I’m hoping you’ll get some snow because I could never get tired of seeing pretty Instas of snow and wishing we’d get another snow day!

I definitely need to read ALL of those links, but especially the one about being productive because I started my new job earlier this month and am definitely trying to figure out how to make the most of my time! Hope you have a great weekend!

Congrats on fitting back into your jeans. It shows the work you’ve been doing has started to pay off. I love that paw print funny. I just shared it with my coworkers and everyone was like “Awwwww”. Lola does that sometimes on wet grass.

The Cutest Nope – that made me laugh…. our last dog just refused to go out in the snow or rain – she’s stay right up against the house where the eave covered a bit of ground – she’s squat & right back in

YIPEEEE for jeans feeling looser – thats the BEST!!

  • Reply Amanda Elizabeth January 22, 2016 at 3:32 pm

Yeah to the looser fitting jeans! I have one pair of jeans from college that have zero stretch in them so they are like always my judge jeans to see how my weight is doing lol. Your memes seriously crack me up every week. That pop sugar workout is legit, they really have the best workouts right?

hmmm you’ll have to let me know what you decide about the moisturiser. i use olay, though i am always looking for a new one. i bought one recently, i don’t remember the name, and it was too much for my skin, it freaked out and i broke out with like 50 new milia. that wasn’t fun.
the chicken tandoori looks so good! let me know how it is, i love me some indian food.

  • Reply Dani January 25, 2016 at 1:13 pm

Allllll the cute dogs in parkas pics! Yes! So freakin cute.

I love that you guys just listened to music and chatted. No one seems to do that anymore (except me), and I can’t understand why not. It’s like a TV has to be one somewhere. This is why we have the attention span of gnats!

How was the Beetle in the snow?! Thank goodness you’re getting your car back!
