Five Thursday Things

Poor Thursday. It will forever be the not Friday of the week. Such is life. I am not even sure where I am going with this post today, hence the name. Sort of a birthday recap and random thought dump? I don’t know I just roll with it.

My birthday bump!

1.My morning started off yesterday with presents, so that was fun!!!

Working on your birthday is un-American and should be illegal. Especially when it falls in the middle of the week with no end in site. I am pretty sure no one even knew it was my birthday yesterday. Usually our corporate office sends out a happy birthday email company wide, but I was forgotten. 🙁 I did manage to score my free Starbucks for breakfast and free Which Which for lunch, so there’s that!

I stopped by Sephora on lunch to get my free gift a few little goodies I have been wanting to try. If I love them, I will share them next week. So far I am thinking I do!!! And I walked around Pottery Barn Kids just to see what they had. Why is everything so damn expensive in there? No thanks.

My MIL came up to our house last night to see me and Chris had surprised me with a huge cookie cake that he will be eating none of because he is still going strong with his diet. I felt like Kevin on Home Alone.

I am not even going to pretend like I wont be eating that whole thing. Because I probably will. I mean, it only counts as one cookie right?? I only see one cookie.

2. I am currently listening to The Nightingale on audiobook and reading Where We Fall from Netgalley. Both are heavier books and I am going to seriously need a light read after this!

3. Speaking of reading, I am so behind on magazines!!! I get so many subscriptions for free because of surveys I have taken and I love that I don’t have to pay for them. But right now they are taking up a lot of space all over the place because I am so behind! Maybe I need to tackle some of those this weekend. Do you get any subscriptions? Right now I think I have Real Simple, Martha Stewart, Health, Cooking Light, US Weekly, Entertainment Weekly, ESPN, Family Circle, Fit Pregnancy, Shape, Self, Glamour and Allure. Yeah…that is a lot to read in a month!!!

4. I haven’t watched a single minute of the Olympics. I am not sure why? I honestly forgot about the opening ceremony and I usually love gymnastics but I just don’t think about it when I get home.

5. I am super excited to go back to Tropicaleo today for lunch with Laura 🙂 Time to start looking at the menu now to decide what I want! Do you do that? Preplan your order? I am so indecisive I feel like I have to or I get overwhelmed at the restaurant when they ask. I am ridiculous. I know this.

Happy Not Friday!!!

Working on your birthday should 100 percent be illegal!

I always said that I’d vote every time for the President that made birthdays a holiday that you werent allowed to work on 🙂
    Looks like a great birthday!!!

yuck, it sucked that you had to work on your birthday. I always make sure to book off my actual bday and then the mon and fri either before or after the day of my actual bday because IT’S MY BIRTHDAY, MOTHERF*CKER!

  • Reply Dani August 18, 2016 at 11:25 am

Working on your bday SHOULD be illegal, which is why I take off every year! Yay for free bday goodies! I’ve signed up for so many restaurant and chain stores for the same reason! I’m with you on checking out the menu beforehand too, mostly because I’m usually hungry for it already haha. Enjoy your cookie, and happy birthday!!

  • Reply Amy Getz August 18, 2016 at 12:11 pm

You are looking fabulous! Glad you got your diaper bag and other goodies . . . sucks you didn’t hear much at work about your bday – it’s just like a summer birthday for school. Boring, right?!? OMG – that cookie. Yes, it’s “one” cookie so it’s all yours! Woot! I’m kind of over the Olympics but I’ve been watching on and off! And yes to magazine piles – I finally just decided to let subscriptions run out because the piles were stressing me out!

  • Reply Jen August 18, 2016 at 12:52 pm

Which of the two Sephora gifts did you get? I went with the Fresh skincare set and loved it.

  • Reply Ashley @ The Wandering Weekenders August 18, 2016 at 1:15 pm

They really should make working on your birthday illegal because a’int nobody got time for that! My friend was so depressed her first year out of college because it was the first time she actually had to do something on her birthday that wasn’t fun. Her birthday is a few days before Christmas, so she was never in school on her actual birthday. That sucks that they forgot you on the company email, but it sounds like you still had a great day! I’m ready for some lighter reads too! WWII books have got me down as well, even though they’re always so good!

  • Reply Mattie @ Northwest Native August 18, 2016 at 1:17 pm

That picture of you is gorgeous! And yes, that is a single-serve cookie, obvi. Also loving your pretty diaper bag!!!!

I haven’t really watched any of the Olympics either! I wanted to watch gymnastics because it’s my favorite, but when Michael turns it on (because I don’t) it’s always ping pong or something else I don’t care about. And I’m not staying up late to watch it, that’s for sure.

You know where I am on the magazines. BLAH.

    Great birthday picture!

My gift to myself every year is never working on my birthday.

  • Reply Amy @ The Crazy Wise Woman August 18, 2016 at 1:48 pm

Happy Birthday!! I always preplan my lunch before I go. I will def be working on my brithday if all goes according to plan with the new job… that kind of stinks but hey… money. I didn’t know you get free starbucks on your birthday?? And a cake pop! I am so there! One cookie for sure… enjoy that thing too!

  • Reply Jenn @ Optimization, Actually August 18, 2016 at 2:50 pm

I’m not really a fan of cookie cakes, but it’s decorated beautifully! I love that purse! Happy belated birthday!!!

  • Reply Jessica @ Pleas(e) & Carrots August 18, 2016 at 3:48 pm

I see one cookie! And I totally pre plan my orders at restaurants. I can’t imagine not doing that lol!!

  • Reply Rach @ This Italian Family August 18, 2016 at 4:01 pm

Ah! So many happy birthday things! Love this! Well, except for your birthday being overlooked by the company wide email. That’s a bummer. 🙁 But back to happy things! Look at those great gifts and all the fun birthday freebies! Hooray! Also, I only see one cookie too… So have at it! 😉

  • Reply Lauren @ Oh Hey! I Like That! August 18, 2016 at 5:55 pm

It is absolutely just one cookie…and you’re TECHNICALLY two people, so you’re really only eating half a cookie, right? 😉

  • Reply Janine August 18, 2016 at 9:46 pm

Happy belated birthday! I totally feel the same way about having to work on your birthday.

I was subscribed to Glamour and I couldn’t keep up with that one- I cannot imagine how you must feel! I miss my subscription (and I’d love to resubscribe to that as well as Real Simple) but I don’t have enough time to read my novels and keep up on blog posts as it is. When did life get so busy?!

  • Reply Emily @ Martinis & Bikinis August 19, 2016 at 12:03 am

You look amazing with your baby bump and I hope you can celebrate your birthday some more this weekend because mid-week birthdays really kinda suck. I agree, Pottery Barn is way too expesnive

  • Reply texerinsydney August 19, 2016 at 2:10 am

    I love your picture 🙂
    I love cookie cakes 🙂
I love that you got freebies for your birthday 🙂
When I moved here, I cut all magazine subscriptions, and I’ve been totally fine without them.

  • Reply ellesees.net August 19, 2016 at 8:28 am

What a fab birthday!! I love the bump!! And yes, it should be illegal to work on your bday.

  • Reply katie August 19, 2016 at 8:49 am

Happy Belated Beautiful lady!! Glad you made the most of your mid week birthday. And yes, that is only ONE cookie. I have a feeling I would eat that in one day. I really loved The Nightengale. I hope you’re continuing the celebration today and all weekend and the rest of the month 😉

  • Reply Teh Megan August 19, 2016 at 1:21 pm

The only magazine subscription I ever had was Cosmo and outgrew it. I was happy to cut ties.
The Nightingale.. I’m interested to hear someone else’s opinion.
I don’t think I took advantage of ANY birthday freebies this year. #WTFiswrongwithme

HA! The Kevin meme from Home Alone seriously won me over on your blog. Loving the sense of humor and super glad I stumbled across your website tonight!
And you are 100% correct, working on your birthday SHOULD be illegal. I actually used to work with a girl who had never worked on her birthday, ever. She was 32. Apparently she believes it’s illegal too.

    Excited to be following along!!

So, I can’t wait to see what you think about the HP play. I’ve finished reading it, and actually have a post coming tomorrow kind of reviewing it, but just random things that I picked up. I don’t think I’m giving away any big secrets 🙂 Also, the new handbag is gorgeous! – Dorrie @ Rt 1 US 1

  • Reply mandie August 22, 2016 at 12:43 pm

I never work on my birthday. I always take my birthday off & do a spa day for myself. I feel that nobody should work on their birthday & if I had a business, it would be a “paid holiday”…but that’s me. Ha!

  • Reply Jess August 23, 2016 at 1:03 pm

Free Which Wich, yummm. I am stalking all your food. I wish we had a Which Wich here, but I only go when I visit the South. Haha I can’t keep up with magazines. I only get Parents and Fit Pregnancy and Family Fun, all of which I signed up for at Motherhood Maternity, and honestly I can’t say I’ve read a single one yet. Such a waste, I won’t be resubscribing, oh well.

  • Reply Kristen August 25, 2016 at 11:17 am

Cookie cake!!!!! I didn’t know Chris was on a diet, go him! More cookie for you.

  • Reply Katy September 1, 2016 at 3:49 pm

I missed your birthday! Sorry but HAPPY BELATED! Kind of. (Actually, no clue where you live, but I just assume Alabama cause of the Roll Tide thing 😉
