Confessions

–My laziness is winning out over food some days. I will be hungry and want something to snack on, but since I had been on Whole 30 all month it eliminates all the easy to grab processed foods. Because I have to actually prepare a snack, I end up just skipping it all together. I mean, you can only eat so many nuts and everything else requires prepping. You would think this would aid in weight loss, but not so much I don’t think.

–There is nothing more unnerving as a new parent than when you wake up and realize that you actually had some REM sleep cycles and you start panicking and freaking out and run to your kid to make sure they are still breathing.

–I really really want a glass of wine.

–Speaking of wine, we live a good 20 minutes away from any grocery store. We do have a Dollar General about five minutes outside of our neighborhood though. Chris and his friend went there to grab a few things one Saturday and they came back with a bottle of $3.50 wine. I sort of laughed because the bottle said “Spring Creek Sweet Red.” But I was desperate (this was before Whole 30) and had a glass. You guys, it was really damn good wine. I think I drank half the bottle by myself. Don’t knock the Dollar General wine until you have tried it!

–I watched the entire Gilmore Girls series while off. I really enjoyed it. I had only caught a few episodes here and there when it originally aired, so it was great seeing it all. Then I watched the revival. I was super disappointed in Rory. Anyone else? Stop reading here if you haven’t watched it because I am going to say a spoiler. I mean, it is realistic that just because you went to a really good college doesn’t mean you are going to have your life together. But sleeping with Logan when he is engaged and just sort of bouncing around in life without any direction or morals? Sort of turned me completely off from her character. Loved Lorelei though!!!

I’m ridiculously impressed that you watched the entire Gilmore Girls series… That’s amazing.
The “funny” about saying you’ll be productive, then laying in bed. That’s 110% me. Every damn day.
    Hahaha!

do not knock cheaper wine! i love me some riesling and my fav brand is about $50/bottle….then i found another one that’s $17/bottle and it’s DAMN good. damn good price, too!

My favorite wine is from Whole Foods and it’s $3.50 a bottle. I am cheap and it tastes good. None of us are connoisseurs, why pretend? 🙂 Felt the same way about Rory – just turned off. In fact, I haven’t watched an episode of GG since the revival. I was so disappointed in her character.

hahaha, GET YOU SOME WINE!!! And I totally know what you mean when are sound asleep and JOLT awake like, OMG THE BABY!!!! Yeah, that still happens. And while I love Gilmore Girls, I didn’t get the whole Rory plotline in the revival either. If she had such a big success in the New Yorker or whatever publication it was, I feel like she would be able to find something. And I was and never will be Team Logan, although Jess is way too good for her. And you’re right — Lorelai can do no wrong. Sorry I left this ridiculously long comment on your blog.

I was and still am the same way with the boys. I hate being that way and shouldn’t be so fearful, but even now if they aren’t up around the same time I’m checking the monitor to make sure they are still breathing. Haha at least your dollar store sells liquor. We have to specifically go to a liquor store or if we’re lucky some grocery stores now sell it. Beautifully Candid

I still like the Charles Shaw aka “2 Buck Chuck” wine at Trader Joe’s lol so I hear ya! I am debating on having a glass of wine tonight, I feel like it’s been so long!!!

Rory was such a disappointment. Like, your mother worked hard to raise you better than that, stop it. And maybe I could have seen her behaving that way in her twenties but at 32? I’m 32. Time to grow the f up.

I would never knock a wine just because of the price!! I sort of felt the same way about Rory…disappointed in many of the choices they had her character make! xo, biana –BlovedBoston

I’ve heard that about being a new mom – you’re sleep deprived and in desperate need of it, but even when you have the chance to sleep you either CAN’T because you’re worried or like you said, you have a weird guilt/panic moment! PS my mom’s favorite wine (and we all make fun of her for it) is sold at like, CVS…it’s called Chateau Diana – lol

Thanks for the heads up on the Gilmore girls spoiler. I’m just on Season 3. I’m impressed you got through them all while you were off. I’m on 1.5 years & just in the middle of season 3. haha.

I am all about the cheap wine!! And yes to all the ecards. So true.

Oh my gosh that first meme– soo funny! I was just talking to my husband about how i’m such a heavy sleeper I wonder if it will change when we have kids. I’ve never watched Gilmore Girls, but have been tempted even though I don’t know if I’ll like it.

  • Reply chelsea jacobs February 1, 2017 at 11:36 am

Haha! I still do that when I wake up and realize I actually got good sleep! I panic and jolt straight for the baby monitor.

i am the best hermit ever. hahaha.
gonna have to check out the Dollar General wine!
glad you liked gilmore girls! i liked the revival because i loved gilmore girls when it came out and i was a teenager, and i’ve watched the 7 seasons like 4 or 5 times, so it was like a reunion and something new, so i loved it for that. rory was a hot mess though, but i always loved lorelai and luke more, so i got my happy ending 🙂

  • Reply Lauren @ Oh Hey! I Like That! February 1, 2017 at 12:32 pm

I was also completely disappointed in Rory! I love me some Logan, but seriously, they shouldn’t be knockin’ boots when he’s engaged! Lorelai forever, though 🙂

Cheap wine can really be good! We never really buy anything over $15 anyway so obviously we believe that over here hahaha.

#2: Hate to tell you but that lasts a long, long time. I still sometimes wake up in a panic. And Erica is 10.

  • Reply Katie @ Live Half Full February 1, 2017 at 1:46 pm

I feel like I’m snacking so much more on Whole30! So much dried fruit, nuts and jerky.

  • Reply Andrea @ Living On Cloud Nine February 1, 2017 at 2:05 pm

You will still have a feeling when they’re in college too! Just a mama thing that’s here to last! I am that hamster lately and now I want a bottle of Dollar General sweet red!

  • Reply Cara February 1, 2017 at 2:43 pm

Love that you found good wine at Dollar General! You never know what you might find lol.

  • Reply Ashley @ The Wandering Weekenders February 1, 2017 at 4:11 pm

Sometimes you just really need wine! I still haven’t finished watching the Gilmore Girls Revival, and I think that it’s because I find Rory so annoying! I just don’t get how she could have changed so much in a few years!

  • Reply Rach @ This Italian Family February 1, 2017 at 4:45 pm

YES! I am with you on the Gilmore Girls revival!

Also, my husband grew up out in the country and he is always trying to convince me that I want to live there. But I grew up in the city (like IN the midst of the city) so I have a hard time with the idea of being so far away from basics like a grocery store (and a Target and a Starbucks and a Chick Fil A and my gym… haha!). There are definitely awesome things about living further out, but I’m just not sure the city girl in me can move any further than the suburbs, haha!

I laughed so hard at you advising us to not knock the $3.50 bottle of wine until you try it. Let me tell you, I enjoy wine too. And, I enjoy good wine. But, I am NO wine snob. I’ll drink the $3.50 stuff and feel just fine about it.

  • Reply ellesees.net February 2, 2017 at 7:29 am

You’ve got my interest piqued with this Dollar General wine!!

  • Reply Katie Elizabeth February 2, 2017 at 12:02 pm

OMG, that first e-card is so me. I always think I’m going to be so productive once Hadley goes to bed at night and then I just end up sitting on the couch and watching crappy TV! So I’m still getting nothing done, lol!

  • Reply Dani February 2, 2017 at 2:00 pm

Your dollar store sells wine??! That’s incredible. I would definitely try it- some people think the only “good” wine has to be over $25 which is completely untrue. Hell yes to that first e-card, and Rory! I was so disappointed in her. Though my favorite from the revival was Emily! I was just so proud of her and she was so funny.
