Confessions

–I don’t really speak much about my job on here. One of my duties is to get rent comps in senior housing. Sometimes people don’t want to share information with me so I call back and pretend  I am looking for my “grandma.” One place literally told me “I know we can do better than any other community in the area.” Ummm if I were really looking for my grandma, you just lost my business. #smokeandmirrors #dontbadmouthotherstogetmybusiness

–Sometimes the fear of bad karma outweighs any other rational reasoning for things that I do. #karmaisabitch

–I had to go to three places before I found coconut aminos and arrowroot powder for my recipes this week. Why can’t our city have nice things? I had to go to freaking Whole Foods which is 35 minutes from my house. People in the suburbs want to be healthy too, damnit! #profiling

–I have ADD when I clean. I will start with something small, like starting the laundry. On my walk to get the clothes basket I notice that the bed needs made. Then I see Chris has a pile of shoes on the floor. Then I walk in the closet and realize I was lazy and didn’t put my boots back in their boxes for two days. Then I get in the bathroom and remember that I wanted to clean my make up brushes. You see where this is going. #focus #atleastiambeingproductive

–I googled something that made me so sad yesterday. “How to prevent grey hairs.” That’s right friends. I have reached old hag status and I have seen a few greys pop back up since getting my hair done in November. Now, it is just a few, and I can usually hide them by parting my hair a certain way. But I am determined that there are natural ways to slow that shit down and I am going to try every single one of them. Neither of my parents have a lot of grey and they are in their 50’s. #oldhag #goawaygreys #wtf

Amino what? and what kind of roots? I don’t even know what where I’d find those things. I’m proud of you and your whole30 commitment!

Grey hairs – I’ve colored my hair for years and years. But. I have noticed, when my roots grow in, I’m seeing some greys. Nope. No ma’am. No thank you.

Love that picture that says before calling me, is this textable? I always joke that I don’t need voice calling on my phone, just text messging!

i’ve been battling grey hair since my 20s. rage. now every 4wks, i have to color my hair 🙁

i am so afraid of (bad) karma!

  • Reply Tracy January 20, 2016 at 6:59 am

Bad karma is a huge motivator for me too! The other day I was on the way home from an interview and I stopped to get gas. As I was driving away I noticed a homeless man going through food in the trash and I thought, “I should buy him a meal.” But I didn’t because I didn’t think of it soon enough and it would have been awkward to go back and the rest of the day I was like ughhh that was probably a huge hit to my karma, now if I don’t get that job I’ll know why haha!
I definitely have cleaning ADD too. I usually end up not even finishing the original task because I got sidetracked by 5 other ones in the process.

  • Reply Andrea @ Living On Cloud Nine January 20, 2016 at 7:30 am

I am a huge believer in karma! I have seen it work so many times and my bad person to admit sometimes I get satisfaction out of it? Too funny our whole foods is 35 minutes away as well I get grouchy if I have to make a trip there just for certain things! Thanks for my confessions fix girl! Makes my Wednesday wonderful, hope yours is too my dear!

  • Reply ellesees.net January 20, 2016 at 7:36 am

welcome to the grey club! i’ve found nothing slows them down. there’s a root blur kit from john frieda to hide them or a root touch up kit for when you want to get serious. i have cleaning add too!

  • Reply laura January 20, 2016 at 8:25 am

Cleaning ADD is real!! I do the exact same thing!! I’ve been coloring my hair since I was 15, so I have ZERO idea if there is grey under there. I will probably do it until I die. And yes, I am also going to eat just in case!

  • Reply Lindsay Latimer January 20, 2016 at 9:00 am

I just keep coloring my hair to keep the grays away! 😉 we have the same problem finding food in our town. It pisses me off that we have to drive 35 minutes like you to get to Whole Foods!

  • Reply katie January 20, 2016 at 9:02 am

So proud of your strong commitment to the Whole 30…fact, when I’m trying to follow a recipe that has ingreidiants that I have no idea what they are or where to buy them I just give up on the recipe and make chicken again. That’s sad. I lol’d at the fake eyebrows…when is that trend going to die?!

  • Reply Amy January 20, 2016 at 9:14 am

I pluck my few gray hairs. I know this is bad but I don’t care, it doesn’t make more grow back. I also have bumped up my color appointment to more like every 6 weeks rather than 8-12… ugh. I have cleaning ADD too and it’s awful but a lot of things get done at least partially so there’s that!

  • Reply Audrey January 20, 2016 at 9:43 am

UGH. I relate to so many things in your post… First of all, I always remembers facts. Facts about those who have done me wrong 😉 Secondly, I have grey hair, too. I’ve been so close to just jumping on the platinum/grey hair bandwagon and masking the problem by being “edgy” with a full head of grey hair.

But most importantly, I totally feel you on calling around for comps. I work for an appraiser so I have to do this sometimes and I once called a storage facility and asked about their sizes and rates and they were SO RUDE. Ugh. I hate calling around for comps!

  • Reply Amy @ Getz Girl on Fire January 20, 2016 at 9:51 am

Fixing grey hair is easy . . . see your hair dresser every 5 weeks. It used to be every 9 weeks I got my hair done and then over the years, it gets closer and closer together. M F’er. Agreed – Karma is a bitch and I teach that to my kids too . . . you’ll get back what you put out there so make sure it’s good.

Yes to the cleaning – I’m absolutely like that. There are children’s books that it reminds me of “If you give a moose a muffin” . . . I always say that’s me. The struggle is real. But I think we get more done!

My favorite ecard – the eyebrows. LOL!

  • Reply Cara January 20, 2016 at 10:26 am

I’m the same way when I clean. I usually carry around a basket with me and just pick things up that don’t belong in that room as I go along, which helps some. Have a great day!

  • Reply Jessica @ Pleas(e) & Carrots January 20, 2016 at 10:39 am

Omg I’m the same way with cleaning! I make myself so mad by getting so distracted by other messy/dirty things!

  • Reply Carly January 20, 2016 at 10:45 am

Haha, is there a way to actually prevent gray hairs? I thought we just had to dye them. I don’t look at my hair too closely just in case I notice one. No thank you.

  • Reply alyssa January 20, 2016 at 11:01 am

I’m 26 and I already have more than a couple grays. If you find a natural way to slow their appearance please share!

  • Reply Ashley @ The Wandering Weekenders January 20, 2016 at 12:02 pm

So I totally have grey hairs too, but both of my parents are greying so it was bound to happen to me. Right now it’s only one every once in a while and I pluck them. Totally not the right thing to do, but I just can’t help it! And why do companies think that it makes them look good to put down others? There’s a radio station that talks about how they play fewer commercials than another one in Houston, and when you count the number of times they tell you that during an hour, they probably play more commercials than the other station! Crazy!

  • Reply Pamela @ A Little Glitter January 20, 2016 at 12:45 pm

You are too funny! As far as those ingredients – can you order on Amazon Prime? I do that for things I cant find/am too lazy to look for in a brick and mortar store. PS – I hope your Grandma finds a place really soon. 😉

  • Reply kristen January 20, 2016 at 1:09 pm

lol good luck with the grey hairs. i’ve had grey hairs since i was like 20, they don’t bother me for some reason. now wrinkles, how do i get rid of those bitches?!

  • Reply Rebecca Jo January 20, 2016 at 2:05 pm

HOLD UP – there is a natural way to slow down grey hair?!?!? How did I not know about this? … guess where I’m heading right now & guess what I’m looking up!!!

  • Reply Jessi January 20, 2016 at 2:43 pm

I used to have your case of the housework A.D.D, but the Pomodoro technique (25 minutes) helped me to stay focused and get things done faster! We also made some chore sticks that we take turns drawing at random for who does what. We’re yet to pull the “chill out, drink a beer & laugh at the person cleaning” stick. I hope I get it first.

  • Reply Mattie January 20, 2016 at 2:46 pm

This is weird but your ADD about cleaning list made me think of ‘If You Give a Mouse a Cookie.’ Hahaha. Also that fake eyebrow ecard killed me.

  • Reply Jess January 20, 2016 at 3:11 pm

I have the same distracted train of thought when I start cleaning. I think I’ll just get the dishes in the morning, and then I realize the cat litter needs to be taken out, and the trash is getting full, and hey the trash can is kind of stinky, so I should probably clean that.

  • Reply Emily @ Martinis & Bikinis January 20, 2016 at 4:55 pm

Lol at #profiling. I’m sure it’s pain in the butt to get those not-so-typical ingredients. And I’m pretty sure I have a bunch of grey hairs but it’s hard to tell with blonde hair.

  • Reply B @ Sequin Notebook January 20, 2016 at 5:26 pm

Haha the grey hair googling cracked me up! I’m lucky that I don’t have very many (…yet) but feel free to share any prevention methods!

  • Reply Biana @ Blovedboston January 20, 2016 at 7:15 pm

The hungry e-card made me laugh so hard!! I like your thinking on getting that information from those businesses lol! xo, Biana –BlovedBoston

  • Reply Kate @ Green Fashionista January 20, 2016 at 9:18 pm

Yesssss to the “is this textable” meme, and this is coming from the girl who used to spend hours on the phone. And I hear ya about driving way out of the way for a Trader Joes or Whole Foods… us suburb peeps need healthy alternatives too 😉

  • Reply Jenna January 20, 2016 at 9:27 pm

I’ve learned that Amazon is my friend when it comes to hard-to-find ingredients for food. Well, for most of them anyway.

  • Reply Stephanie January 21, 2016 at 9:53 am

The ADD cleaning is a serious struggle. I have to force myself to focus, because I feel like I don’t really do a good clean or declutter unless I stick to ONE spot. It’s HARD.

  • Reply Teh Megan January 23, 2016 at 2:37 pm

I want grey hair so bad!! My granny is 70 and still isn’t completely grey and my other grandmother barely had any grey hairs either. There’s no hope for me.

  • Reply Amanda January 24, 2016 at 5:08 pm

I probably have a shit ton of gray hairs that I just don’t know about… my mom started getting them when she was 24 – before I was even born!

  • Reply Dani January 25, 2016 at 1:24 pm

You lost me at the coconut thing and arrowroot powder. What? And what were you making with it?

I am the exact same way with cleaning; once I actually start that is! Starting is always my hardest part for me, but once I do, I don’t stop until I’m completely satisfied.

    And that eyebrows e-card- LOL!!

  • Reply Michael February 2, 2016 at 10:00 pm

Oh God, I am so, so, sooo guilty of cleaning ADD. It’s just like you explained it. And then when I actually realize what I’m doing is typically when I say fuck this and start binge watching Netflix.
